Shainamotors: Permit me to say sumtin,airfare increased from 35k to 65 k,is it d easterners DAT owns airlines? During salah prices of rams doubles,same as chicken during festive seasons, is it d easterners DAT r responsible? From when I was a child till date,during festive periods, prices of goods and services triples,its not an Igbo tin,but DAT of demand and supply,d poultry farmer increases prices,same as d tailor, painters car dealers rentals etc,and it is not particular to only Nigeria. D transporters r businessmen,just like every other business people all trying to make a killing during d period,that is y sum companies giv bonuses to cover ,d poor suffers agreed,but pls r transporters d only business people that increase prices during festive periods? Did you read the entire thread from beginning to the end, before you rushed in head first with this headless comment? Transport fares by road (not air, o!) in other parts of Nigeria, only increased by a minimal sum. In some cases, there was no increase. But transport fares in Ala Igbo increased by 100% to 500% during the Christmas and New Year holidays. What is that called? Exploitation! And the commercial bus operators were Igbo, not Lebanese! That is the reason why commuters are angry! |

kayceben: wow guys i just discovered why the tanker didn't explode it's because of an emergency shut off valve installed within the tank read more here https://m.facebook.com/kiakiagas/photos/a.960772047319795.1073741827.849759261754408/1368357049894624/?type=3&__tn__=E Tell me, you are not just being unserious here. It did not explode because it was empty, and not because of a shut-off valve. When a gas truck falls on its side, like you can see in this picture - the force of the impact with which it hits the ground, as well as the pressure in the gas tank will cause it to explode, if it is carrying some amount of gas. I pray to God that you never get to witness such a disaster in your lifetime. |

I laugh in Greek!! When you pay peanuts, you will definitely get monkeys!! Not just monkeys, but fraudulent ones! As well as a high turnover of staff. Let them do a quick survey...starting salaries for entry-level graduates in the commercial/retail sector is about 70k monthly. If such graduates will earn additional commission apart from their salaries, then it could begin from 50k per month. Anything aside from this, is exploitation! |

The sad thing about this whole situation is that it is inflicted by the clueless people in authority who know what to do, but have just refused to do it. Many countries have switched from using kerosene to using gas, for cooking, heating, power supply and even air-conditioning. Now that kerosene prices have gone through the roof, shouldn't they be looking for ways to prevent bottlenecks and make gas more available in all the nooks and crannies of the country, so that people can use it as a viable alternative to kero? |

ayindejimmy: I'm not sure that's the real cause, because every part of Nigeria is affected, not only lagos Or are we importing LPG too? Bros, that is the real cause. LPG or Liquified Petroleum Gas is commonly called cooking gas. It is no longer being imported from foreign countries. NLNG in Bonney produces over 250,000 metric tonnes for the local market. The main problem is the inability of the authorities to coordinate the logistics chain which covers vessel berthing, discharging & evacuation at the jetties in Lagos. A second less critical problem is that the refineries in Kaduna & Warri are not producing gas. So those in other parts of the country cannot buy from them, and have to depend on the gas consignments that are discharged into the depots at Lagos. Please do your research. . If you have any other theory that can explain why the nation is facing this shortage, kindly let us hear it. The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, NLNG, has denied increasing prices of the product as recently reported.
Speaking with Business Times yesterday, the company’s General Manager, External Relations, Kudo Eresia-Eke, said Nigeria LNG’s domestic LPG price is based on an international price index plus 50% of the shipping cost of delivering the product to receiving facilities in Apapa-Lagos. That price, according to NLNG, is invoiced in Naira at the prevailing official interbank exchange rates, contrary to assertions made in parts of the media.
The reality of this is that, although LPG is produced and consumed locally, the product like crude oil, is an internationally traded commodity with an international price benchmark, open to global demand and supply pressures.
NLNG however, said it softens the impact of price variations by continuing to subsidise the cost of transporting about 40% of the total domestic market share which it supplies from its production facility on Bonny Island.
Aside from the above, the company said recent delays to vessel discharges at the receiving facilities in Apapa, Lagos which are multi-use terminals with berthing priority accorded to vessels discharging other oil products (Petrol, DPK and Diesel), have also led to a temporary supply disruption over the last 2-3 weeks. “For instance, NLNG’s dedicated LPG vessel has been unable to discharge LPG at the Apapa port since 29th December 2016 due to jetty unavailability, resulting in temporary product shortages in the market”, it said. WhoRUDeceiving: Actually most "Ipobians", which are Biafrans are right there in Asaba, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Oweeri, Onitsha, Aba, marching, protesting, and getting shot by savage Nigge-r Areans that after almost 60 years, have not figured out how to manage a national airline, or provide steady power for their people, and who's president has to go abroad to England (not to give birth like his Nigge-r Areans) for Ear Infection.
If your own so-called leaders don't care about Nigeria, your pastors don't care, and frankly no one, then why not join a movement that cares about the plight of Indigenous African people?
Or would you rather just be managing and doing Owambe? Actually, the forbears of most IPOBians and Nigerians as well as their kith and kin, joined hands to wreck our old national airline, and have also been unable to provide steady power supply till date. Their brethren are also part & parcel of the govt appointees that often go abroad to treat all kinds of ailments - from the common cold to an ear infection. None of them is holier than the other, whether they are IPOBians or Nigerians. |
Politics › Re: look at where they drill oil in Biafra Land by laudate: 12:22am On Jan 13, 2017 |
Enice: so what do you mean from what you just posted? That Victor Banjo was not a Biafran soldier? He was a Biafran soldier. His sister wrote a book about him titled "A Break in the Silence:Lt. Col. Victor Adebukunola Banjo." His sister is Professor Felicia Adetowun Ogunsheye, the first female professor in Nigeria, and the first female professor of Library Science. The foreword, by A.A. Adetunji, to Ogunsheye’s book, “A Break in the Silence: Lt. Col. Victor Adebukunola Banjo,” declares that “By his death… in accordance with the decision of a Kangaroo court-martial… (Victor Banjo) had made life worthwhile for those of us who… imbibed his principles of honour and high integrity.”
Ogunsheye, who regards her brother as a “man of valour and integrity,” recalls that “The period of the civil war, and the subsequent death of a son, brother, father, and uncle… was a traumatic experience for the Banjo family.”
Because their mother refused to accept Victor Banjo’s death, the family appropriated the denial, and couldn’t mourn or perform his funeral rites. The ram that Mama bought to celebrate his homecoming died after three years.
Neither the entitlements of Victor Banjo, who is presumed dead, has been paid, nor his confiscated documents and properties returned to his family. The audience granted his widow, Taiwo, by former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon yielded nothing. http://punchng.com/celebrating-prof-ogunsheye-90/ Another commentator wrote a few things about Banjo in another online publication, using excerpts from her book. The West had been rearmed and were now participating in the Federal Government as partners. Awolowo was now a Federal Minister in Gowon’s government. Victor, however, did not raise any issue with Ojukwu. He knew the situation had changed. He could now only march to the West as an invader at the head of a Brigade of foreign Biafran troops. He had announced on August 9 in Benin that he was fighting for one Nigeria.
Ojukwu in his letter rejected the idea of one Nigeria and in fact sought its dismemberment. The East, he reaffirmed, would not be part of one Nigeria. There was no going back on its secession and separation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was, however, ready to annex the Mid-West now regarded as conquered territory, no longer liberated territory. Victor was no longer to have anything to do with the Mid-West or make any announcement on its political disposition.
“He would support Victor in his attempt to liberate the West. He now had the backing of his Council to loan him Biafran forces on certain conditions:
a.) Biafran troops will remain in the West after the liberation for as long as he, Ojukwu, and Biafra deem fit;
b.) During that period, all political measures, statements and decrees must be subject to Ojukwu’s approval or on his authority;
c.) Victor’s appointment as military governor of the Yorubaland will emanate from Ojukwu and be subject to his pleasure;
d.) Should Lagos be also liberated by the forces under Victor’s Command, Ojukwu and Biafra will have the right to nominate a military administrator for Lagos.
Lagos, for the purpose of this exercise, is therefore not considered Yorubaland until a merger of that territory is effected with Yorubaland. No such condition was necessary for all the other Yorubaland territory north of Western Region to Jebba on the Niger.
“How, after the volte-face in the Mid-West, anyone expects Victor to accept these conditions beats the imagination! Victor must have written his consent as required in the document. He thus won his freedom from arrest and detention to lead now the 54th Brigade to Yorubaland?
“Victor thought he needed time to work out another strategy to resolve the problem in keeping in view his ideas on the concept of one Nigeria. Back at Benin, he met a demoralised and frightened Biafran force and a hostile civilian population who did not bargain for subjugation under Biafra.
As Ogbemudia in his book, Years of Challenge, observed: ‘An underground resistance movement was formed to harass the now largely Ibo occupation force. There were also very many incidence of arrests and killing of the non-Ibo population.’ It gave Victor a preview of what would happen in Yorubaland, if he also overran it for the Ojukwu government of the Mid-West.
“It has been suggested in the writings of some Biafran officers that Victor was unable to return to the West. Even Gowon admitted to his wife that they knew he had nothing to do with the January 15, 1966 coup. Nobody was looking for him for a revenge action. In the West, he was well thought of. Victor was a nationalist to the core. He sympathised with the Biafrans for the genocide directed at them, but his concept of one Nigeria was steadfast....
On his release from detention to return to Benin to salvage the deteriorating situation, he must have reflected on the Biafran leader’s bidding in relation to the West. Victor was nobody’s puppet as observed by the British Times of London. He did what his gentleman officer’s mind dictated. He was a highly moral and caring person.
Ademoyega, again, commented on his high moral standard, thus: ‘Finally, the charge the he, Banjo, took money from the British High Commission was utterly false and frivolous. Ojukwu himself knew that to be so. Banjo was a well to do officer and was quite comfortable. He had no need to look for cash.
Banjo entered the Mid-West with no more than five thousand pounds given him for the operations. He had not spent more than five hundred pounds, before he handed over the remainder to me for operations. While in Benin, he received several instructions from Ojukwu to break into the Central Bank, Benin and remove whatever money was there. Banjo completely refused to do it, saying it was not honourable. The truth was Ojukwu needed a scapegoat for his utter lack of preparation for the war and for his failure to find means of supporting his soldiers on the field.’ http://waleadedayo..com.ng/2009/07/my-responses-to-prof-bolaji-aluko-on-lt.html |

Teewhy2: But does anyone know the main reason for the increase in price. I heard it is getting scarce as well The increase is caused by the inability of the LPG vessel to berth at Northern Oil Jetty (NOJ) in Lagos, in order to discharge the 10,000 metric tonnes of cooking gas on board. That vessel has been on the high seas for over 10 days now, waiting to berth. That vessel loads LPG cooking gas from NLNG facility in Bonny, and transports it to the gas depots in Lagos. The only LPG Terminal that currently has cooking gas is NAVGAS depot in Apapa. The NPA authorities and PPMC/NNPC officials are responsible for this sorry mess. |
