@PTN a.k.a davidylan,

Why do you say that the sites are not credible? I haven't seen anywhere that UNICEF, WHO etc., came out openly to refute tales that estrogen, estradiol, cancerous monkey viruses and human chorionic gonadotropin, were not constituents of their virus vaccines. Again, I stand to be corrected. Until I read their refuttal or denial in black & white, I would urge Nigerians to exercise caution in the use of those polio vaccines. Life no get duplicate o!

Please note that no single NNPC official can divert one dollar of the federations money. Anything denominated in dollar (even if it's a dollar) has to be signed by the president. All diversions and fraud carried out in NNPC concerning crude was orchestrated by the president. (Where do you think the money for third term, Obasanjo Lirbrary etc came from). NNPC officials are not in anyway honest, they commit their own fraud (Contracts, endless trips abroad not made etc) but anything to do with crude was done by the president.
@Disguy
Yaradua is a current GED of NNPC and the most senior official after the out gone GMD. So, until the new political appointment is announced, he should rightfully be the acting GMD. And yes he is from Katsina state.

Attitudinal change will not go far to help bring about the needed reforms we so much crave in Nigeria. At best it will only scratch the surface. What we need is leadership change and the earlier we have this the better for this country of ours. We need credible, forthright, sincere and visionary leaders to take us to the next level in all facets of human endeavour in Nigeria. Soludo has been doing a lot in that regards in Economics; same with Akinyuli in drugs administration. We need more people of this calibre to move on.
On the contrary Ono, attitude is the first thing that needs to be altered before you can change human behaviour. Ask any psychologist. And the power of ONE, goes a long way, if that One person is determined to effect change. When you talk about leadership, from where are the leaders elected or selected? Is it not from the pool of the masses who have been followers, at one time or the other?  Are leaders born, not made? Is leadership an automatic thing? Isn't it learnt? I don't want to go into leadership theories and psychological factors, but I must say that I agree with Chxta (as cited by Sijien), on this issue.

Like someone once said: "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves that we are underlings." Can't remember now, if it was Shakespeare or another writer. Socrates also said: "States are made up of the men in them. Therefore we cannot have better states, unless we have better men. . ." Think about it!

[/b].
*sigh*. . . .You don't need to know a person's identity in order to make your stand known. Neither do you have to launch attacks on a person's tribe, religion or political affiliation, please. Scratch that, politics is fair game. But ethnic affiliations, are not. Doing that is so infantile, and it doesn't raise the level of discourse or understanding on this board. Take a cue from other folks who have developed the art of disagreeing with the points made, without being disagreeable.

McKren:
Yes I attacked someones tribe or region but that was after the person made rash comments about mine. If Laudate is simply saying that my attack was unprovoked then he has simply gotten so used to Igbo bashing or hating that he does not think I have the right to be angry when rash comments are made about my tribe.

Pages 1, 2, and 3 of this thread are here to prove whether my attack was unprovoked or not. And I still like to state categorically that I have no regrets for my posts on this thread and will not appologise.

fakande:
When you say he lied, it baffles me. When God puts a burden on your heart as a prophet and you fail to deliver it, you suffer grave consequences. Examples abound in the holybook but i think that of jonah is a very good example of what could happen to a man who tries to dodge God. Don't forget that Job had a valid reason for refusing to go on God's errand, which was that he would go and deliver God's message of doom to Nineveh, the people would cry for mercy and God would forgive them and let them be. Jonah felt that would make him look like a liar and he did not want that. God insisted on his delivering the message and just like he had predicted, god forgave them and did not destroy them. there are different types of prophecies and most of them are just meant to jolt us into repentance. In delivering prophetic utterances, however, we often stand the risk of looking like false prophets because sometimes, God's anger gets soothed and the prophecy of doom is not fulfilled. While not holding brief for Bakare and his ilk, i think you guys should tread softly on issues that are beyond you, especially about God and his servants, you did not anoint them, god did. It is therefore only him that has a right to judge them. Keep your comments or thoughts to yourself to avoid trouble.
It was Jonah that didn't want to deliver the message. You got it right in your next sentence, though. Well said. Good example!  wink

Allta:
Let me take out time to reiterate something

What is False prophesy:

A False Prophesy is just any other Prophecy without being devinely inspired.

A Prophet can prophesy(make predictions) which are devinely inspired by God, and then it necessarily doesn't have to come to pass. That wouldn't make this a False Prophesy.

If you're a very good learner, you should have figured this out, now you've forced me to cite an example in the Bible ,  2 Kings 20:1 - 11; In this chapter was Isaiah's prophecy to King Hezekiah, that he will die from his sickness, but Hezekiah went to God and prayed. Isaiah actually went to the King's house to inform him, at least Bakare never went to AssoRock abi? You can see how passionate Isaiah was io this story. Ofcourse, the end of the the story ended with addition of extra 15 years to the king's life.

So you tell me, is it that Isaiah is a false prophet in this context? I want to believe you'll say NO to that. So biblically, there is nothing wrong in prophesying about someone's death, but if that person pray to God and God increases his days, then that doesn't make the Prophet a "False" Prophet. What makes a False prophet is not that the prophecy never come to pass, it's that the prophesy isn't from God!

Do you need any more proof? Please research into things before Judging people ,

Peace Out!
WORD!! Beautiful example. Well said, bro'. Couldn't have put it better myself.

Well, I cannot relate to Tasma's posting until he tells me what part of the North, he is referring to. There are several Colleges of Education in the North, as well as Polytechnics, State & Federal Universities etc. Last time I checked, a lot of them were populated by Northern students seeking an education. Now, if you look at areas like Minna, Lokoja, Zaria, Jos, Yola etc. you may not see this picture he painted. So that's why I said, he needs to tell us what part of the North, he drew his comparisons from .  sad

He also needs to tell us, if he tried to find out what made those able-bodied men decide to hang around, looking at him. Did he try to find out why?

Finally, in other parts of Nigeria especially Lagos, I have also seen people hanging around and looking at workers carrying out a project. If you are unlucky to encounter area boys while doing your job, ah omo, na another tory be dat! grin

Errm, my dear laudate, did you even bother to read the articles which showed laboratory confirmation from different parts of the world that the polio vaccine administered in Nigeria contained the hormones estrogen and estradiol which effeminises males as they mature and rapidly developes females sexually, yet causes natural abortion.

Did you read the articles on those links? Each link shows a different article discussing a different aspect. Please read.
Denex, I must confess that my first post merely responded to your initial comments. I did not read the associated links. I do apologise. Now I have read those links. If indeed the polio vaccines were contaminated, then the government needs to take NPI and all those who donated them to Nigeria, to task, for giving our citizens contaminated vaccines. What was our Ministry of Health doing, when it took delivery of contaminated vaccines in the first place? Don't we have a quarantine section anymore? Or an inspection unit that tests those vaccines on arrival, before it is distributed and administered on women and children, nationwide?? We need answers! angry

But having said that, all children need to be vaccinated aginst polio. It is essential. The polio virus does not discriminate, and it could strike kids at any time. We have to find a way as country, to source for polio vaccines that have not been contaminated with estrogen etc.

Our foreign minister as well as the Health minister also need to take this issue to the United Nations, and subject it to public scrutiny, internationally. Next, we should drag those aid agencies supplying Nigeria with contaminated vaccines to the World Court. Enough is enough. We cannot continue to be cannon fodder for those who want to experiment with the lives of our citizens.

On a last note, polygamy does have a direct correlation with population growth. If one man marries one woman and they have four kids, would you say they are more fertile than a polygamous man who marries four wives, and has eight kids (i.e. 2 kids from each wife, or 4 kids from the first, 3 form the second, 1 from the third and none from the fourth)? All women do not have an identical fertility status, neither do they exhibit similar linear patterns, in child-bearing. Not even if they come from the same family. Same goes for men. So you cannot use Fela as a typical representative of the average polygamous man in Nigeria. M.K.O Abiola had more than four wives. Yet, at the time of his death the exact number of kids he had, were unknown. He too, was suspicious of all those kids that were being passed off, as his own. So he included a caveat in his will.

What am I saying? Polygamy should be seperated from the polio discourse. It has a direct link with population growth, but has little to do with a contaminated polio vaccine, unless you are saying that the reproductive abilities of men who took the polio vaccine in their childhood, has been adversely affected. In that case, no amount of polygamy that they practise will ensure that they bear children.  sad

Denex,

High fertility rates in the far North, has little or nothing to do with the polio vaccine, and everything to do with age, and the religious tenents that allows polygamy to thrive, in many parts of that region.

Women in the South do not get married as early as women do, in the North. They often delay marriage & child-bearing until their mid-twenties to late thirties, due to reasons ranging from educational pursuits to career changes, unlike the Northern girls. Age has a direct correlation to fertility, not the refusal of the polio vaccine. Ask any doctor.

Secondly, a Northern muslim who has four wives whose ages start from 19 and above, will most likely end up with more children, than a southerner with only one wife.

May God enlighten those in the North who still kick against the vaccine. If you have ever seen a child battling with polio, you would weep. By refusing to grant women and children access to the vaccine, they are merely subjecting those kids to the possibilty of a deformity that could cripple them permanently.

The North is a widely diverse place. And last time I checked, there were several educational institutions in the North. Who were those studying there? Foreigners, ??

@Denex,
Thank you for asking him to be specific. While I will not deny that the thirst for Western education is greater in the South, than in the North. . . .I believe that one has to put the whole issue into proper perspective, with respect to each region within the North.

How many Nigerians have the courage to accept their mistakes when they make them? Even with hard evidence and proof you will need a miracle to see the average Nigerian agree that indeed he has goofed. Rather, energies will be expended on diverting the issue (as owning up to the mistake is certainly out of the question) and when he is not getting his way with the diversion he/she goes personal and begins to attack your person.. . . . . . . .

Now I ask, is it wrong or criminal for one to make a mistake? If it is not, then why do we prefer to go through the very difficult task of justifying our mistakes rather than acknowledging them even if we do not want to correct them?

There is nothing wrong in asking simple question, may be you might also like to explain to us why your gospel of tolerance for simple questions did not prevail when someone simply inquired about someone elses tribe on this thread.

You Laudate questioned why people wanted to know his tribe and whether they wanted to turn the thread into Igbo VS the person's tribe.

Wanna know what I figured outhuh? I think it does your heart a great pleasure inciting hate amongst others while they abuse one another. And you were disappointed that I spoke to Obong nicely and you tried to incite more hate.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Why would I try to incite hate between you and Obong?? I sabi who you be? wink Please stop jumping to illogical, untrue conclusions.

I wanted to know why you were asking about his (i.e. Ono's) tribe, simply because it was NOT relevant to the issue being discussed. That was why I turned it into a joke. You guys had already turned the whole thread into an exchange of words with Ono. I really don't care if you want to set each other ablaze, but please take it out on the street, and don't derail the thread.

Already, you had claimed he was Urhobo, while another person was speculating if he was Ogoni. Frankly, I was just tired of all the animosity, so I cracked a joke about the ethnic group thing. Is that so hard to understand??

finally, what you claim to have figured out is nothing but a pathetic lie. If you do not know what a person is thinking, ask!! I have made up my mind never to react to this thread but your call for black and white proof brings me back.

Could you please shed some more light on your motivation for reacting to a post which I refered to OBONG telling him that I did not wish to go into any kind of argument with him cause the Igbos never knew finer friends and allies than the Efiks and Ibibios. I made that comment cause I thought we the Igbos could only remain indebted to the Efiks and Ibibios.

You Laudate reacted to that comment when you were neither Obong nor were you from Efik or Ibibio, you reacted telling Obong that we look down on his tribesmen like they were lesser humans.

I could not figure out what could be the motivation for your comment until I began to see the remarks made about you.
So what have you figured out, pls?? Let us all know.

The comment I made was done on page 7 where I asked a simple question :

laudate: So why do a lot of Igbo people keep looking down on them?
I reacted to that comment, because I wanted clarification on something I had noticed, and also because I know quite a few people from your region, who do not share your point of view. This isn't the first time that people have asked questions, based on remarks that were adressed to others. So is it a crime to do so?
