That was my initial question when he first made the complaint. You owed your LL rent and had the guts to sublet. Coming here to play the victim card. Sickening. The worse is that other people here didn't condemn him. Total BS!! Until your house owner's mortgage gets repossessed. No one is seeing the anger of the house owner.
I’m sure you are one of those that rents house and give it out at higher prices. Does that warrant her to break his door and leave him in the cold ?

Make we dey talk true abeg.

They're talking about cutting benefits (again - benefits has been one of the top issues since Tories got into power 13 years ago) in an attempt to force some of the economically inactive back into work.

In the autumn statement yesterday, Hunt increased benefits and also cut taxes (national insurance) so it's not about lack of money, but rather the perception that many of those not working are too comfortable on their benefits.
They want those who have been diagnose and deem fit to work by doctor should go back to work. But we all know they won’t go back to any work. you see this benefit money of 100 quid weekly, they will fight it to the end. No one is taking it from them.

Good advice but one that would be more effective if it was given at source - advising student applicants to keep and use their POF for what it's intended for. If they had the maintenance funds and fees they presented in their visa applications, then they might not need to work so hard - just the 20 hours stipulated in the immigration rules - and would hopefully avoid the extreme stress that is bound to arise from working to pay off fees and other debt while studying.
Justwise and others have preached this for ages but are often ignored.
And the source starts from those travel agency deceives them saying they can earn 6 million naira in a month.

Also be meticulous when you tell people how care jobs works. Tell them they will pack shit and pack vomit and the stop sugar coating narrative.

True that. This Naija landlords are frustrating most times placing all sorts of rules and regulations.

Base on how things are presently and because he fails to pay his as at when due, i advise he pays the rent and move out.

We learn everyday.

If the government is so appaled, they should rather cull the number of external COS issued. Mk those wey dey ground see work do.
The care sector has for decades depended on foreign labour. That was not going to change overnight cos folks wanted to leave the EU.
The data are all making sense now.

Update on this issue
Today the landlady worked into my room and was like today your leaving my house and was trying to move my stuffs outside..
Immediately I picked up the phone and called the police, she started to denying that she's not throwing me out of the house..
Now what happened is that she came with her kids and trying to claim that this is her house and I have contacted the Council housing department already about her visits but I would like to know if there is any legal way I can deal with this please.

This woman thinks that I meant be scared or I don't know the law in UK, which is the reason she has been doing all this..
I can tell you that all the other tenants who has lived in this house have issues with her and that's why they leave.. including the ones that moved out from my room before I move in.. everyone 100% has issues with her and she always treating to remove their door but never did because she's also scared of what they will do to her..but in my case, she things I can't do anything because am quiet guy.
4 months ago he made new tenant who just came to the UK to go out midnight at 1AM to pay house because the person told her he has it in cash and will send it to her tomorrow when he go to bank, but this woman insisted that he must pay the money that night otherwise she will come and remove he's door...

He has always treating to remove tenant doors but never went ahead to do it until now,she did it to me..

Please I would like to know how I can take this case to court, getting lawyers and anyway I can deal with her for all the abuse and harassment.
You fit post her picture make we drag she and her family online.

Went thru the LSE report and it was telling. Reason why it triggers me when we have policies that'd unduly affect black/immigrant populations. E.g increasing visa, health surcharge and ILR fees for longterm residents so citizens can have a pay rise. While at thesame time deliberating on refucing inheritance tax when there is a relative budget surplus. In the end, the 'immigrants' today would become Brits tomorrow and the state would be forced to deal with the wealth disparity it made.

The relative success of Indians in Briton is the reason why they are increasingly afforded certain leeways. E.g majority of phone spams calls I receive are from Asian folks yet they are still not painted with scam as Nigerians are. All said, China has fared much better by keeping its talent at home.
I said this last week and some people were saying it's impossible.
Omo na time go tell.
it will shock everybody like electricity.
Indian folks have been able to hack the system.

went to a place today and i was told by the uber driver that about 700 Indian family recently moved to the neighborhood.
why did they choose to move to the area?
Because this said area is known to have lots of grammar school with quality teachers. So, they want their kids to acquire the best education.

And we all know knowledge = power.

To answer your questios, i rented the house through flatshare where the landlord posted the room.

I called her through the contact available on flatshare , we discussed price, i then go ahead and made the payment to her account.
No contract was sign...
Details and proof are available on chart though.

One of the reasons we have issues back home is that we all just want to oppress ourselves; we want to be better than our neighbors. That's why some people believe that Nigeria's problem is not just a leadership problem but a mentality problem. I have seen people oppress themselves based on the kind of visa they hold.

There's dignity in labour here , lets not look down on anyone . If care job is your starting point , fine and good , if its banking job , fine and good.

One beautiful thing about this place is that we all end up in the same market, we can drive same kind of cars and can live same neigbourhood. On like working in lekki and living in ikorodu.

Lets help each other, God used someone i met at factory job to get IT job using my spouse care work sponsorship, so let embrace the moment we may find ourself then upskill and aim higher.

Peace.!

Undoubtedly, they've got some good stuff going on for them. But I'll be conscious not to overinflate their population and influence.

Last I checked, Asians (Indians inclusive) make up 9.3% of UK's population. Africans are about 4%.

Just last quarter, LSE released a report on wide ethnic disparity in wealth accumulation across the UK. Asians and Africans were abysmally positioned against white-Brits. Although Indians had some slight exception in the Asian bloc, yet they're not closer to the white-Brit.

So, it is geometrically impossible for them to outrun the 'real owners of UK' in 20 years. Maybe 200 years! 😊

undecided

If you like, cry from now till tomorrow, except for those who came on COS visa, no Nigerian with a MSc degree should be aspiring to do care and clean someone's behind for 7 years...as a hustle to gather fees, maybe YES.. but for 7 yrs?

If your mindset is stuck on doing care for 7 years, thats up to you... the problem definitely isnt me

The point is that care is not the only means to an end; there is construction and the likes. Even in care, you can upskill (NVQ etc) and get to managerial positions or go on to clinical ones / nursing etc but thing is, lots of people do not upskill and remain stuck in that care home mindset for years on end, not moving up, not moving down. I have met lots of people like that

Everyone should take advice as they see fit. I was on the student thread a while ago when justwise was advising students to plan ahead for fees and settling in. The same students who were arguing and insulting justwise got into the UK and started defaulting on fees, getting withdrawn from school, etc
Another one now is rent money being dead money, which to someone who thinks deep is reasonable... but given circumstances of. status etc, it may take a while to get to the mortgage level but still .... na vex and argument cheesy

Last last, everyone with what they like

Jah epp us all grin

Many immigrants believe that when the ladies here smile, flirt and drink with them, all is set for them to dive in! Many make these assumptions out of ignorance, many get away with it and a few get caught up and we hear about it.

The other day, somewhere in the North, this guy was caught visiting an underage girl... Actually dressed up and travelled a long distance to hangout with this girl. Same assumption, they say hello, smile, flirt and gbam, they interpret it as 'the girl is into me'

You hustle and go through all the stresses to leave Nigeria and then come here and do this!!! Really very shameful and disgusting.

I avoid the ladies here like a plague. The juniors I mentor in the office, I keep them at bay, with many boundaries set! Any small thing the team/group will arrange drinks, kilode?
Work hard. Play hard.

Well, from the Qs I have seen, Its not Indiaphobia; people are just curious as to why they are dominating in most countries

Their numbers largely help them, along with the kind of community they have

I really don't see Nigerians being like them in the UK in the next several hundred years. For one, our numbers don't match up (doesn't mean a Nigerian cant be MP but more numbers mean someone is more likely to get there). I mean, people were encouraging others to aim higher for better job positions and others were snickering and bashing those trying to encourage them

I pray we get there though smiley
I give it max 2 decades from now oyinbo go dey beg dem for jobs and opportunities.

Just so you know india space agency single handedly landed a rover on the month sometimes last month.

Community lifestyle is at their advantage. They move like a wolf pack...working close to them as they celebrate diwali opened my eyes to their cultures and operations.
