Just what I wanted to say.

From the OP, it was for a week. For whatever reason, it was extended to two months.

They have not erred in this.

Lagos State workers should tell us if the promised increase was effected (and track if it would be permanent cheesy) and if the pensioners have been swiftly paid. Those were the campaign promises we can hold him to.

Hotel business

At first i chopped money like there was no tommorrow, it a low budget hotel with sales of about 5k per night. Was banking in about 30k per day. It was like blood money for someone who has never made that much money from anything for like the first 6 months.

Mistake 1
About late last year, Nigeria happened and Buhari proved himself to why he was Buhari, inflation and purchasing power, i noticed people who still wanted to bring babes didnt have enough money left like that cos of food inflation etc. Most were now going for short time service which was 1500 naira for an hour. And as a man once you are done with what you want to do, your eye go clear till next time konjiii hooks you and you are back again.

So in essence i was cashing in more 1500 naira bookings instead of the 5,000 naira bookings resulting in less income per night

Mistake 2
When i was making crazy money per day, i too was forming big boy dashing people around money and acting like i had money, what people came to the hotel to do, me too i carried people to other expensive hotels to do.

Also i was repairing almost everything in the hotel customers will spoil, anything be painting the same wall over and over again

Meanwhile price of emulsion went from 4k to 12k minimum, i still would be doing renovations non stop

I even wanted to buy diesel generator at one point in time and give customers AC, Rooms that i know they wont still sleep in for less than 5k a night. Thank God i couldnt afford the diesel generator

Mistake 3- Ramadan period
Chai this period for like 2 months was hard ooo, its like everyone was holy and no one wanted to spoil thier fast, but once Ramadan ended, things went back to normal.

Conclusion
Save your money and put your money where your mouth is.

Now im still back but more clever now, I have stopped pointless renovations. And i have started saving my money,

Even now i have started lying to my staff that there is no money for renovations, lol the same people that remit 30k per day room bookings for me every day haha

Also im trying to do a palmwine lounge thing. I have noticed one thing its when people are drunk or tipsy thats when they start wanting to do the obvious.

Lead city university students too that always came to camp at the hotel and be doing party around the night looool

ONE thing Managers should never do

As managers, we are responsible for leading our teams respectfully and professionally.

One thing we should never do is rebuke our subordinates in public.

Even if we forget ourselves, please go back and publicly apologize/reconcile.

There is no point in publicly humiliating someone and privately apologising.

We might unwittingly create a bad image for the person involved.

Even worse, we might create an image of ourselves that we don't want.

As leaders, it's important to set an example of how to treat others with dignity and respect, even when we're frustrated or upset.

In my opinion, there's no excuse for publicly humiliating someone in the workplace.

It can help to create a culture of trust and transparency within your team.

So, let's commit to leading with respect and professionalism, even when facing difficult situations.

And if we do make a mistake, let's have the courage to apologise and reconcile publicly.

Share your thoughts in the comments on how you've seen managers handle difficult situations with respect and professionalism.

Have you met stif competition?
DUKEOFIBADAN:
I still don’t understand why some people prefer to work a job they don’t like just to pay bills than starting their own businesses. The dream they sold to them is to go to school and graduate with high grade to get a good paying job and the rat race continue from generation to generation. People should think out of the box, I drop out of school knowing the famous and richest people in the world don’t have educational background and I’m happy I took that decision. The rich don’t work for money, they let money work for them and no matter how much you make always pay yourself first and that is the first rule of money. Peace ✌️

Business › Things You Need To Know About The Omnibus Act by lavylilly(op): 1:29pm On Mar 28, 2023
His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, signed the Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023, also known as (“the Omnibus Act”) into law on 14th February 2023 as part of the Federal Government's initiatives to foster an enabling environment for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria and also enhances the efficiency of the working relationships between businesses and regulatory authorities.

The Omnibus Act was presented as an Executive Bill to the National Assembly to amend 21 business-related laws to promote the ease of doing business in Nigeria and eliminate bottlenecks.

Below are 10 key changes introduced by the Act

1) Ministries, Agencies and Department (MDAs) of the Federal government which provides product and services are mandated to publish on their website and also made available at the customer help desk a complete list of procedures/requirements to obtain the products and services.

2) Full automation of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) application processes.

3) A company may now increase its issued share capital by the allotment of new shares, either in a general meeting or by a resolution of the board of directors, subject to the condition or direction that may be imposed in the Articles or the Company in general meeting.

4) A person can only be a director in five (5) public companies.

5) A public company shall have at least one-third of the total number of its directors as independent directors

6) Industrial Training Fund (ITF) contribution is now applicable to only employers with 25 or more employees and operating outside the free trade zone areas.

7) National Housing Fund (NHF) contribution is now 2.5% of monthly income of employees earning the national minimum wage or above in the public sector or self-employed. NHF contribution is now optional for employees in the private sector.

cool An enterprise registered in Nigeria, which subsequently acquires foreign participation after the commencement of business, shall, within three months of such acquisition, register with the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission.

9) Revision of minimum capital expenditure threshold for processing Certificate of Acceptance for Fixed Asset (CAFA) from N500,000 to N5Million.

10) Non-Nigerians seeking to carry on/practice any profession or acquire business in Nigeria are now required to obtain written consent from the Comptroller General (CG) of Immigration.

The Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023 is a welcome development and we hope it create a more seamless and transparent business atmosphere in the Nigerian business market.
Although, there is no certainty about when the Act shall become effective. We expect that directives will be issued by the heads of the various authorities regarding the amendments made by the Act and their implementation.

Seun:
Fellow Nairalanders,

We have noticed the use of ethnic slurs and other derogatory names by a small but persistent group of political actors and trolls.

This practice of derogatory name-calling adds no value to the forum. It's bad for our mental health, our harmony as a community, and the reputation of Nairaland. It's simply toxic. It's absence and the absence of the people who use those slurs will not be missed.

Therefore I have decided to ban the practice entirely. I have instructed dominique, mukina2, Lalasticlala and Mynd44 to ban anyone who uses an ethnic slur or derogatory name on Nairaland. The antispam bot will also contribute to the effort. Please report any case that you see.
