Who created the global world?.

Credit must always be given to whom it is due. It was the Portuguese through the Christopher Columbus voyage that globalized the world. Before Christopher Columbus, the old world and the new world were separate worlds akin to two civilizations on two different planets. Of course there were fleets that may have reached the other side from either side in the past and even returned but they did not establish a permanent connection and trade. The Vikings of Northern Europe were said to have reached the Americas and a fleet from Mali commanded by the elder brother of Mansa Musa was also said to have left Mali to never return but none of them can be credited for creating a global world. The credit goes to the Portuguese just like the credit for the industrial era goes to England.

Before a long time, meet us where we are celebrating victory like Ogun at the feet of Obarisa

Story

Nineteenth century Ogbomosho was established to guard the Northern territory of Oyo after the fall of Oyo ile to Ilorin. Ijaiye was to check Dahomey while Ibadan was to subdue the rest of the Yoruba gradually.
Ogbomosho would not be able to do its job well if the spread of Islam among the indigenes was not checked. The government therefore went to the Baptist mission to come and set up shop in the city and the city subsequently became majority Christian.

Christianity EtcThe Origin Of Religion by lawani(op): 8:50am On Feb 07, 2025
The origin of religion

Two thousand years ago, there was nobody on Earth trying to convert people away from their culture. They abided by the common sense that says culture is a complete package that comes with theology, language and etc. All cultures contained those who could be called idolatrous or non idolatrous. Then came Apostle Paul a leader of a sect of Judaism called Nazarene who were later rechristened Christians in the Hellenistic town of Antioch. He started admitting Gentiles into the sect and the world has not recovered ever since.

They don't use land mass to create state. Federating unit don't work that way. In a federating nation, there must be regional balance to foster unity and coexistence.
The SE has most states per capita presently. Going by population, NW and SW should have like three times the number of states SE has because number of states determine number of senators, ministers and federal presence. I believe all demands for states or mergers should be met and the way to do it is to agree to dissolve the senate. However the best thing is for the country to just disintegrate. We will keep working for that.
CultureIfa Is The Opposite Of Religion by lawani(op): 12:17pm On Feb 06, 2025
IFA is the opposite of religion.

IFA is not a religion but a means of communicating with your spirit and your spirit can liaise with other spirits to get any information for you. It is the most powerful tool on Earth. It is also true for all divination tools. I can use IFA for instance, to reconstruct history, read secret letters and etc. IFA can leak to you the plans of your enemies and etc. IFA is science and science is the opposite of religion.
All traditional spiritualities (and we have over seven thousand on Earth) use one form of divination or the other to seek help from the other realm and they don't condemn unbelievers to damnation. They are scientific and that is why they can not be classed together with Christianity and Islam as religions. Religion because of holy books that can not be peer reviewed is the opposite of science.
The worst an IFA priest can do is to warn you of dire consequences if you do not do the prescribed ebo after your readings and who goes to seek for help from priests without money in his or her pocket?.

CultureRe: Why Did The Yoruba Culture Survive In The Americas? by lawani(op):
RedboneSmith:
The vast majority of Yorubas who were landed in the Americas between the 1600s and the 1800s were, in fact, slaves. Atakunmosa never lived in Brazil. There’s no shred of tradition that says he ever left the coast of Nigeria. His name suggests that he was familiar with the lagoon area (which is not strange, given that he was known to be a protege of the Benin State which in that time had some control and influence along the coast). But thats where it ends. He never got on a ship and sailed to Brazil. Calm down. Take it easy with the fabrications.

The survival of Yoruba culture in the Americas is easily explanable.

First, the Yoruba people were one of the few peoples in Tropical Africa to develop religious institutions that were “universalist” and non-parochial, and thus could be exported across cultural lines. In the multicultural atmosphere of the Afro-American world, these institutions could thus outcompete the institutions of groups like the Igbo, Akan, Mende, which were much more parochial.

There are other factors, such as the average age of Yoruba slaves. Many were adults, victims of the 19th century Yoruba wars. Adults are better able to carry and propagate their culture than children.
It is only basic common sense to deduce that many Yorubas settled in the Americas as free men as there are records of Benin and Warri princes that schooled in European universities centuries ago. It does not apply to Yoruba culture alone but also to Angolan culture, only that Yoruba is more.

Whether the majority that landed before the nineteenth century were slaves or not may be up for debate but a large number surely landed as free men. Then the Yoruba did not suffer that much from slavery until the nineteenth century during the wars.
The purpose of the article is to point out the fact that the Yoruba culture did not happen in the Americas because of slavery. If all the Yoruba had landed as slaves there would be no culture to speak of today. The people that established the culture were free men.

PoliticsRe: Ibadan, The Capital Of Western Region Was More Populated Than Lagos by lawani(m): 1:20pm On Feb 05, 2025
Ojuntana:
Wrong!! You can only claim 50k as a city where you have high population density in the region of 1500 per square metre

Most of those places are large so 50k will be relatively sparse

A city usually starts from a population of 500k upwards
Nowadays it may not be suitable but in the olden days it was okay. There was hardly any city in the world containing 500k people 250 years ago. Then even nowadays, a settlement of 50k people can not be ruled by everybody together. They must have a sophisticated central government. 50k is not a small population.
CultureWhy Did The Yoruba Culture Survive In The Americas? by lawani(op):
Why did the Yoruba culture survive in the Americas?.

It is largely because the vast majority of the Yorubas that crossed the Atlantic ocean before the nineteenth century did not land in the Americas as slaves. Most were noble men or aristocrats. The Owa Obokun Atakunmosa of Ijesa in the sixteenth century lived in Brazil for years before returning to become King. Chief Oshodi Tapa of Lagos was as at the late nineteenth century going back and forth to Brazil on behalf of the King of Lagos. The main empire that used the slave coast and prospered from the slave trade was the Oyo empire. They dealt in mainly Northern west African Muslims and some other rivals of theirs including Yoruba kingdoms. The Yoruba aristocrats went back and forth to Europe and America. It was when the trade spiked in the late nineteenth century that majority of the cargo was Yoruba and traders also paid highest for Yoruba for many reasons.
Therefore Yoruba culture survived in the Americas, not because it was special but because of the same reason European cultures survived in the Americas which is because the founders were free men.

CultureYoruba Spirituality And Others by lawani(op): 4:06pm On Feb 01, 2025
Yoruba spirituality

Yoruba spirituality is not more than have your IFA at home and when you need spiritual help, approach someone who is a qualified priest in the same way you would approach an artisan to help you solve a problem. The priests in the past were members of the equivalent of modern chartered bodies. A priest would have an Oluwo that was his or her mentor and primary teacher. They rank up to Araba in the IFA Orunmila system. They support and peer review themselves in their meetings, exchange gifts and etc. They are not invasive but reserved and academic. They do not seek to convert anyone. Their sermons never goes beyond saying God abhors evil. If you want knowledge, you have to go after it. Teachers do not chase people around with knowledge as is the case with religions.
As it was in Yoruba land before religion, it also was in every other culture established by God. It is time for everybody to go back to the spiritualities of their ancestors that describes God as a loving, non discriminatory father who is not a jealous one.

Ancient people were more 'conscious' than modern people.

Looking at it on the pedestal of spirituality, we can conclude that ancient people are more conscious than modern people. They know for instance that people that speak a different language and practice a different culture will automatically have a different spirituality starting from the name of God the father.
Nowadays tens of sects of Islam and Christianity go all over the world trying to convert people with their holy books. They preach condemnation and bad ending for unbelievers. The ancient world did not have such a problem and the people were far more conscious spiritually.

PoliticsMuch Ado About Sharia In South West Nigeria by lawani(op): 7:31pm On Jan 29, 2025
Much ado about sharia in south west Nigeria.

One thing we all should understand is that we don't need more religion in the public place, we need less. Islam is not capable of adding to any civilization. The Yoruba have been living in cities for over ten thousand years while Islam emerged in the seventh century AD. Islamic law is barbaric because that is the only word to describe a penal code that says the hands of a petty thief be cut off as punishment amongst all its other anomalies.
What we need in Yoruba land and indeed across the world is for religion ie Islam and Christianity to be practiced only in private spaces so that all the bad things that comes with them can abate. Hatred of unbelievers, lynching of unbelievers and spreading of toxic theology that dehumanizes people and etc.
We need to return to the spiritual climate that existed on Earth before the invasive spiritualities of Christianity and Islam were let loose on humanity starting with Christianity in the first century.
We definitely do not need more religion in the public. There is no positive value that invasive spiritualities ie religions have added to human civilization.
