Run Christian Christian ticket make we know how far.

No Presidency without the Muslim North, if you like win all Christian votes, you no go still get the highest number of votes nor get 25% in 24 states.
Why was the Muslim north not able to get Buhari the Presidency without any help? A Christian Christian ticket is indeed possible if a Northern Christian is the Presidential candidate. That is how Nigeria is. As Muslim Muslim is possible so is Christian Christian and it did happen during the military era

You didn't see the last part of my post. People are complaining about the bills...to the point that there were PROTESTS.

Also, Aba is one city. And it is not quite representative of Nigeria. And it is a small scale operation, not a large scale one.

Then the disco too does ask for the government to let them raise prices.

Keep in mind they are also doing the band thing....so it's not like everyone is on 24 hour light.

(I won't be surprised if people are disconnetting from the mains supply from time to time to save money, as they do in Ghana).
People will protest in other places too and still pay. People disconnect to save money everywhere in the world. I think the reason companies are afraid to invest is that they think off-grid solar will become more popular and it may therefore be difficult for them to recoup their investment but that fear may be unfounded because if you consider the cost and lifespan of batteries then solar too is expensive

Geometric subscribers are paying cost reflective tarrifs, or close to cost reflective tarrifs. That's why they are able to make enough money to pay for their services.

Just to put things in perspective, here are the prices they pay in Aba

And here is the cost for the rest of Nigeria

And as a result, people are complaining in Aba. There was a protest where people complained about the high bills.
So if people in Aba can pay it then other people can pay it as well and what they pay in Aba is still a fraction of what they pay in western countries. Therefore people are ready to pay, it is investors that are backing off. We pay for GSM so we can pay for power

See the problem, or be as if you don't want to see it.

Good morning. I end it here.
So how is the geo metric power plant in Aba making money?. Or are they running at a loss? We can't pay the same amount they pay in the western world because things are cheaper to produce here as labour is cheap and labour is the greatest part of most production costs. Look at the brewery industry for example, beer is sold in Nigeria at like ten percent of the price in western Europe and the sector is still thriving and profitable.

While I'm not disputing relationship between these people and need to study more the truth aside from "thousands of years meshed together as one century in history" in the name glorifying the powers that be.

Next, Oba of Bini could have had tradepost in Lagos Island, but the bone of contention is that of the antiquity of Lagos, because Lagos started as early as any other ancient enclave in the west coast.[/q

Can Benin claim ownership of Onitsha today? There is evidence Benin took tribute in Akure. Can it claim ownership today? Mind you many groups surrounding Benin including Akure, Esan etc have history saying they reduced Benin to tributary status in the past. The Oba of Lagos today is descended from the priest that established the settlement who was an Ijesa man. They built a palace for him when he was alive. Like many parts of Yoruba land, Eko have history with Benin and that's about it. The land is Awori land and the people are Awori. Then the Benin people of the empire were Yoruba speakers. Benin the capital of the empire was a city of 50k people where Yoruba was the lingua franca just like Warri or Akure. The Edo speakers overwhelmed the city after the empire declined and turned it to Edo speaking. That may have been in the nineteenth century. In the past they used to live in the suburbs. I have read Portuguese accounts of Yoruba being spoken as a lingua franca in the old city. The Ijesa, Oyo and etc didn't see the Benin as different from themselves because they spoke the same language

Really? What is the price per kg in Nigeria compared to the price in UK?
You are comparing kolanuts with nuclear materials? Do you know the cost of handling nuclear materials alone not to mention the cost of production and operation? How many countries in Africa have nuclear power plants? South Africa is the only country in Africa currently running a nuclear power plant FYI and even that plant is being run by the Russians
In terms of consumption, UK is far bigger than Nigeria. That's why you have UK used phones coming into the Nigerian market. Come and show me Nigerian used phones in UK market
Simple question. If you have goods for sale and you have access to UK and Nigerian market, which market will you send your goods to?
What are you even debating? Is it possible for the consumption of 65 million British to be more than over one billion Africans? Impossible. Can the UK buy its own used phones? It means Nigeria has many things it buys more than the UK. So if you have access to UK markets you still have to bring UK used phones to Nigeria and many other products are like that. Nigerians can't afford expensive things but they have a huge market for many things including many things produced in the UK eg wines, pharmaceuticals etc.
Bottom line is UK economy is like eighty percent services and the value of those services in the average African nation is less than ten percent of what it is in the UK.

There are countries in North Africa with nuclear plants and some in west Africa are planning it

The Awori were under Alaafin Oyo in the 16th Century after the Nupe were defeated.
The Awori were already under Oyo before Nupe invaded Oyo Ile and occupied it for 85 years.
It was during that Period that Benin had tried to encroach on the Lagos Coast but we're soundly defeated

Lagelu the founder of Ibadan was one of the Warriors who helped the Awori to defeat Benin .
The Ilajes and Basorun Yamba of Oyo also played a big part

Afterwards Benin came back begging and pleading Oduduwa brotherhood for small trading post
Awori gave permission for them to have Trading post on Lagos Island
that was when
Lagos Island had a slave market that belonged to the Oba of Benin who was a Trading partner of the Portuguese .
It was sales tax Oba of Benin collected from his Slave Market on Lagos Island which Oba of Lagos Controlled on his behalf
Oba of Lagos doesn't own the Island
The Awori do

Awori paid Tribute to Oyo not Benin
I am not saying the whole Awori but Lagos island. Lagos island is a tiny part of Awori land. Lagos island was obviously initially a Benin post before it became independent. It was obviously granted land by the locals as it could not have held the land by force. The place was established by Ijesa, Benin and Portuguese to export palm oil. Today the place and it's indigenes are Awori. The founders were a mix of Benin, Ijesa and Portuguese hosted by the Awori

What is the demand for kolanuts in the UK? Aso oke and etc? Many countries in Africa have nuclear power plants and I would not know how much uranium they use per annum. In actual consumption of units of goods and services, the UK economy is not bigger than Nigeria's. It is only big because of how much they pay for services which on average is more than twenty times what we pay in Nigeria. The UK economy is more than seventy five percent services

Sorry to say, Awori were never Oyo tributary, you can read AI Asiwaju on this. In fact Ifa was said to have been introduced to Oyo from Ota.

Lagos was never a tributary of Bini, the Portuguese took the description of Bini by lagosians, their original identity and stamp it on the greatness of Bini, naming the bight as that of Bini in their marcations.

This is not to undermine the greatness of today's Bini city, but that you don't need to build repute for a reputable city with falsehood as many here were trying to do.

Likewise, it's counterproductive to degrade others (in spite of their rich repertoire of history) to be politically correct or satisfy certain people's ego trip even if the visible loser is not conscious of it.
Lagos island might have been tributary to Benin in the seventeenth century. They definitely had relations with Benin and so did Akure, Ikere Ekiti, Onitsha, Ikwerre, Ussele Ukwu, Esan and etc. Ijesa had relations with Benin.

PoliticsRe: Low VAT Doesn’t Mean Low Economic Contribution: The South East Nigeria Case by lawani(m): 11:40am On Feb 02

Can I answer you? Yes let me try.

1. The southeast is the smallest region with landmass roughly the size of Oyo state and it receives five allocations from FGN meaning it receives more per square km more than any other region in Nigeria and have more money to build public infrastructure including schools, health centers , roads etc. So the current % to total population of the Southeast should be around 12%.
2. Its the region with net migration, so because a high % of its population are involved in Nigeria's supply chain, their remittance to population is very high and this is attested by the level of residential housing developments you can see. While this is good, it also means the region is dependent on consumers who are largely living outside of the region which is why the issue of relocating their businesses home may not work because others will occupy that vacuum and it will end in losses.
3. When you look at contribution to the economy in VAT etc, VAT captures formal areas of the economy but the informal sector is very huge above 40% in Nigeria(may be 60%) and VAT does not play into these e.g. when you buy pure water in traffic, no VAT is paid but if you buy same in eatery yo do pay VAT. If we are to include those segments, we may have something like below:

Zone Share of National Consumption 3-Year Consumption ($bn)
South West (incl. Lagos) 32% $320bn
North West 21% $210bn
North Central 14% $140bn
South East 12% $120bn
South South 11% $110bn
North East 10% $100bn
Nigeria Total 100% $1,000bn

4. The Southeast may have the highest per capital consumption due to a small share of the population just below the Lagos metropolitan areas however, the consumption values for NW is higher due to more population but far lower per capita capacity.
5. This shows that the SE businesses are less formal and their production capacity is about 10% of national output below Northcentral at about 11% due to large farm outputs and about 15% by Northwest due to largely farm and commerce around Kaduna and Kano. These estimates covers farm and non farm economic output. SS is second like 25% due to oil and gas.

Data does not lie and its not emotional. VAT does not capture all consumptions but its a pointer to the money and consumption capacity, modernization and attracts capital because those are data investors can relate to.

I hope this helps.
Your analysis is sound but consumption in the SE can not exceed that of the SS. The population of the SS is more than 130 percent of the SE. Compare the cities in the two zones.

Data shows that the North consumes more cement than the South. I therefore believe the SW can not be so much bigger than the NW in consumption
PoliticsAn Economic Code Of Conduct Can Even Up The World by lawani(op): 10:33am On Feb 02
An economic code of conduct can even up the world.

While the governments who deport immigrants in large numbers are attacking the GDP of their own countries and potentially reducing government revenue, it can not be gainsaid that only a few countries can not be taking in immigrants while others are making babies and using bad policies to drive out their own people to go out in search of greener pastures. There must be balance and the right status quo can only be achieved if all countries are equally well run. There is a need for a code of conduct on how to run an economy that every country will subscribe to. This was infact what led to the cold war and since there is no accepted consensus yet and we still have a dichotomy of poor and rich countries, it means the cold war is still going on.

It can not be gainsaid that the best governments are those who run on taxes regardless of whether they are democracies or not. The most outstanding governments are those whose tax to GDP ratio is very high. The higher the more work the government can do for the masses and the public. Why this is so is clear. You automatically take care of your revenue source as a government so as to have more revenue. It would not matter if it is a corrupt government or not. If that revenue source is industry then the government will take care of industry and ensure it grows.

It is high time the UN takes up the gauntlet in form of sponsoring an agreement or treaty saying all governments should aim to redirect at least forty percent of the GDP of their nations to the center. This can overnight make all governments on Earth to become efficient and be able to serve their people better

All nations are filled up with farmers, teachers, artisans, doctors, plumbers, tailors, factory workers and etc and if one nation can capture even forty five percent of it's GDP as taxes then any nation can do it. Economic activity can not be hidden.

Did SA GDP reduce by fifty percent in one year? I am referring to Nigeria. SA may have its challenges but it is still the number one immigrant worker destination in Africa. Their tax to GDP ratio is not bad. Their budget is like 140 billion dollars for 50 million people. Their GDP can't be much higher than 500 billion dollars. They have one of the best public health care in Africa and they are fast becoming like western Europe. They are more or less a welfare state now just like western Europe

The Egun of Badagry originated from Ife

egun and Yorubas even have the same root
egun descended from Onipopo who was Oduduwa's Son and they migrated from Ife

the awori were in the Badagry Area before the egun

The egun Settled in Badagry as War refugees when the King Of Dahomey attacked ouidah
In Benin Republic their Original homeland in the 17th century

By the way ouidah is from a Yoruba Word Wida Which was the Yoruba name of a bird that was abundant in the Area

They Settled in Badagry on Land that was given to them by the Alapa of Apa a Yoruba King In Badagry LG Who wears a beaded Ife Crown like the Oba Of Badagry

The egun , Of Nigeria and Benin Republic the Ewe Of Togo And Ghana and the Ga of Ghana in Accra Area are Basically the same People they are all of Yoruba Ancestry but adopted the Gbe Language
Of their Fon neighbours

The Alaafin Of Oyo was the Former Overlord Of them all

That crown on the oba badagry head is an ife beaded crown it is the Ooni of ife's Property that was gifted only to the ife Princes
Examine it well

Only Obas descended from Oduduwa wear it
and Only the Ooni of ife gives them out and authorise their use by a monarch
and it has been so for the last 1000 years

Once any Yoruba Person see's that crown on any Monarch's head, the full story of his lineage and Ancestry from Oduduwa's ife Princes has been told.

If you want to dispute the History of Lagos with us we will take you to the Cleaners and even the dry Cleaners with evidence
Language is a good way of classifying people though you are right some languages are adopted. Badagry was under the Oyo empire and it has indigenes who are Yoruba but minority. However the original people who owned that language could have been red indians who landed in west Africa for all we know. The language is quite removed from Yoruba. However they have been speaking Yoruba for centuries and it won't be wrong to classify them as Yoruba because of that. Akoko people who have many languages are also classified as Yoruba because they bear Yoruba names and have been speaking Yoruba for centuries. Akoko languages can however be classified as old ife languages.

How do you reconcile this your bogus figure with the fact that we still have hausas and other ethnic groups in Lagos?
Oga, the only reason Lagos can even be 50% igbo is if 40% of the SE population is emptied into the state.
I didn't say Igbo population in Lagos. I said the population of the SE is eighty percent of Lagos population according to NIN data. If Lagos is 23 million then the 5 SE states will be less than 20 million. That will also be less than Kano state yet you people expect the region to do well in VAT generation. Oyo and Ogun together are about thesame population as the entire 5 states in the SE.

These are percentages of GDP and not actual debt. Those saying US have the highest are right. In gross value of either sovereign or household debt the US will be the highest.

The level of debt will correspond to the well being or development of the economy because it is indicative of the level of capital mobilization. More assets are working. In Nigeria here billions of dollars worth of assets lie fallow. They are not collateralizing any debt
