It is with heavy heart I share this experience yesterday, and a notice to whoever is in position to solve this terror. Prior now it has been a tradition for mufti wearing men in numbers with heavy guns to alight a yellow mini bus, make indiscriminate confrontation, search ,and arrest especially young youths. It have normalize now especially at ogba locality as norm without resistance. Having been victim of this for numerous occasions, the worst happened last night. I went to ATM ogba branch Lagos State to withdraw with a friend few seconds on the cue came a batch of black mufti dressed armed squard sniffing the cue as if searching for a particular suspect. Few seconds more came possibly the team lead who ask that some 2 guys with dread should come for interrogation immediately outside the ATM. And instruct all to bring out all exhibit (as they term it) in possession with threat to shoot the leg on delay. They took phones access it with laptop made few interrogation,at end 4 more guys were taken again with them.my phone ,ATM ,etc alleged exhibit we're returned to all, mine included,so I made my withdrawal and went my way. Hardly did I know what access they had with our phone and alleged exhibit especially ATM card. Early this morning I got a woke up call from that my friend miserably crying I'm finished ,I'm finished...... Said his little savings is missing he is getting alerts by 2:58am of 59k at Fcmb and 33k UBA. and he didn't authorize such. It can only be last night incident. I rushed to my inbox me too 5k access and 10k ECO....I was just lost in thought. Early this morning my friend was preparing to make entry to a police station, hoping I join , though I doubt if station will be open on Saturday, I'm still in shock to imagine it, reporting it again to police as entry, from experience will incure me again spending more money for many other unending formalities with possibly no result,I don't even have time mon-fri. I usually leave for work 8am. I am weak with this, just hope more people won't be victim ,and that the right authority get the message and help out . |
Some five (5) years ago, notably in 2014, most Nairalanders must have been familiar with the account “lebanoncedars2”, a Nairalander who writes about furniture and joineries especially very actively in properties and business section. Some of his popular posts on kitchen cabinets and doors are still viral contents and drawing attentions to his design and work Fact check between 2015-2019 shows that this name Lebanon Cedars has turned into successful Enterprise, with company estimated average annual revenue of over 50million naira, and cooperate partners and clients ranging from Eco-Bank, Fidelity Bank, Keystone Bank, Lafarge Ready Mix Nig Ltd, Save The Children International and notable individuals and S.M.Es. A fact background checks showed his real names as Farotika Tope Ebenezer, born in 1978 into the family of Mr. & Mrs. Farotika from Ijare, Ondo state. He had his primary education at St. Davids Primary School, Ijare and his secondary schools at both Anglican Grammar School, Ijare and Festac Grammar School, Lagos respectively. He proceeded to Federal Polytechnics Ado-Ekiti for his Diploma Study in Banking and Finance in 2003. He later furthered his studies at University of Lagos with B.Sc (Hons) in Accounting in 2010 and just recently M.Sc in Management from University of Lagos. He started his career in banking industry where he work in the human resources department for six (6) years before the inspiration for Lebanon Cedars was birthed. He loves wood and woodworking with an unequalled passion and is totally committed to seeing furniture work in Nigeria being recognized and respected globally. When asked why he moved into furniture industry from his thriving banking career; he cited gentle but firm divine direction (a story for another day). His resignation was a rude shock to everyone around him, especially his colleagues who see him as someone with great prospects in his banking career. After his resignation, Mr. Farotika decided to learn the ropes. He opted to attend furniture school but efforts to locate one in Nigeria did not yield any fruits. He therefore decided join the membership of the American Woodworking Association Magazine, bought books on furniture production and management where he learnt a lot of techniques needed to bring life, smoothness, and beautiful designs into any piece of wood from renowned wood workers and authors like John Bullar and Roy Underhill. In the process, he started assembling resources for a mini factory. Both machine, material and human resources were invested in. The beginning was tough but his doggedness, integrity, innovation and Gods favour paved ways for him. He also mentioned Nairaland as a forum through which the business began its growth before companies began to demand for Lebanon Cedars office furniture. When asked about the secrets of Lebanon Cedars success. Mr. Farotika responded that the major secret lies with Gods involvement. He however said that integrity is one of the major ingredients helping the company. He mentioned that most of his individual clients have never had physical, one on one contact with him because many of them live abroad. Contacts are made via mail and phones, sites are checked, quote given, projects are funded and delivery is made as at when due. We have never recorded any form of disappointment from clients rather; referrals and praises from our clients have greatly promoted the business. He also said that the company is guided by sets of value namely: Integrity Innovation Customer Orientation Responsiveness and Passion These values have help to shape the way Lebanon Cedars does business. Truthfully a journey of a thousand miles needs a first step, no doubt, there is a different between I am belle full’ and Im satisfied; being alive and living a fulfilled life. I am searching more fact and expecting more positive stories from nairalanders so let us all join to celebrate and uplift one of our own because you could be just be next to be heard of with shout of thanksgiving to GOD |
