nextlevel2222:Yes it's out. I've picked it. What I picked was my sealed medical report addressed to the Consular Officer and my X-Ray Report which was in a CD. |
Guys I'm afraid this ongoing American Shutdown might affect this K1 visa application on the long run. Heard Trump is ready to continue with the shutdown for months and to even more than one year. Currently, the shutdown isn't affecting the Visa Interviews at the embassy. But I heard NVC is affected. |
Hi Select500, I have replied. However I will prefer we discuss here as long as its a K1 visa matter. |
AfonjaBoston:Bro ntyce was right. You don't "support a course", rather you "support a cause" Trying to use context, or semantics to claim you are right is very dangerous. What makes one a Scholar is not his ability not to make mistakes but his ability to take corrections from his mistakes. |
djfrancis:Perhaps you didn't go early enough. I was there before they opened and I had to write my name as they provide their service on a first come first serve basis. I was the first US visa Applicant to write my name on the list and was the first to be attended to. Those that came earlier than myself and didn't write their names were attended to later. |
lasthero:Its not the job of the beneficiary to decide which embassy the approved petition should be sent to. It's NVC that makes that determination after reviewing the information provided by the beneficiary. This is generally the U.S. Embassy or consulate where the fiancé(e) lives. And they make that determination by looking at the beneficiary length of stay in a particular place and the possession of a permanent resident permit in that place. So for instance, if the guy is in UAE based on a short visit visa then NVC will send it to the Lagos Consulate because he does not live in UAE but is only visiting. However, if he has a work permit or a permanent residence permit in UAE, that means he lives there, therefore the approved petition will be sent to the Embassy in UAE where he will be interviewed. |
Drenimarcus:Its around N67,000 for those above 18 years with the option of a followup booster immunization which cost N10,000 thus totalling N77,000 or thereabout. Did my medicals today. Will update you guys how it went here: I chose to use Qlife because they were the only ones that replied me when I sent enquiry mails to the two hospitals. I got there around 6:45am, wrote my name with the Security Guard (very important) and then went back to my car. At some minutes past 8am, they then called us in. Please make sure you take a 4 by 3 passport photographs (5 copies), it's way smaller than the conventional 2 by 2 passport stipulated by the US Embassy. Also go with your appointment letter and the email printout from NVC that has your Case Number. Also you will need your international passport, 2 photocopies of your data page, immunization records (if you have) and of course, your ATM card. You will undergo X-ray to screen for tuberculosis, your blood will be drawn to test for syphilis, you will be vaccinated with IPV, MMR and TT, those will protect you from polio, mumps, rubella, tetanus, etc. Your blood pressure, weight and height (BMI) will be measured. The Doctor will then examine you after taking your medical history. Your urine sample will also be taken. It took me a little over 2 hours. I was done around 10:30am or thereabout It's quite an extensive procedure and the result comes out in 2 weeks time, I'm told. I guess this should help someone out there. |
sharpman1:22 days! Wow. Thank God. I almost chose an interview date that was a week before an intended flight to Denmark. Thought the visa would be ready within a week. I would have missed that very important, work-related flight. |
select500:He hasn't gotten his passport back? I thought it takes just 3 - 5 working days for them to prepare the visa. |
justmejustme:I recommend you go to the USA Visit Visa Thread. You'll see lots of comments that address your questions. You can also ask questions too on the thread. Besides visiting your girlfriend in the States, there are other options which are much easier I think. One option is for her to visit you here in Nigeria. Another option is for you both to meet somewhere else where you can easily get a visa....Dubai, Ghana, South Africa, etc. Goodluck. |
select500:A week or thereabout. And was communicated by email. |
select500:I think its possible. Just call their helpline and put in your request. That email is very important as its a faster means for the embassy to communicate you when they want to give you the go ahead to schedule an appointment |
djfrancis:Ok thanks. I'll do 2 weeks or thereabout then. |
blisssexy:To start, read the first post of this thread. |
blisssexy:It's your choice. We can't decide for you. |
blackedwin:I just learned they added some dates on the portal. Quickly go to your profile and schedule a date! |
Guys that have concluded their KI visa interview, My interview date is fast approaching. Please when do recommend I go for my medicals? A month before my interview date? 3 weeks? 2 weeks? @djfrancis |
blackedwin:No problem. Let him keep checking everyday for dates on his profile before January 14th. It's only if he sees no available dates till then (which is not possible) that he can request for extension. It's is required that you schedule an appointment before your expiration date. Even if the available dates when scheduling is in February or beyond, no problem, as long as you went to your profile before the 14th of January and scheduled a date. I hope it's clear. |
@djfrancis please we would like to know how it went for you during your entry into the States. Please give us the details so we can learn one or two things. Thanks. |
blisssexy:Well it's up to you guys. The two options are Fiance Visa and Spousal Visa. Fiancee Visa is faster as it could take between 6 to 12 months while Spousal Visa could take a year or even more. However Spousal Visa is more guaranteed compared to Fiancee Visa. So make your choice. If you guys opt for the Fiancee Visa route, then you must not get married when he comes over. You'll have to wait till when you get to the States with the Fiancee Visa. But if he's tieing the knot when he comes, then the Spousal Visa route is what you guys should take. Goodluck. |
CrispyMentalist:I got my Police Certificate recently. So if the validity is one year then I'm good. This us because my Interview is January and my intended flight date is March. The reason I was initially bothered was because a validity of 3 months was written on the Police Certificate I obtained. My understanding now however is that the Embassy uses a Validity of 1 year and not 3 months. So I'm giving the Embassy what they want ![]() |
djfrancis:Oh OK. Thanks so so so much. My mind is now at rest. |
djfrancis:Oh really? Cos I saw a place it was written on the US Embassy site that "police report is valid for one year and must be valid by the time you travel" So if it must be valid by the time I'm traveling, doesn't it mean that the guys at the POE will check it's validity? And if they do, will they look at 3 months or 1 year? I'm confused ![]() |
Guys please I am in a fix and need guidance. Went to obtain my Police Clearance Certificate yesterday and realised that I was given 3 months validity instead if 1 year which I had envisaged. So my question is this: which validity is used by the Embassy and the POE guys? The 3 months stated on the certificate or the statutory 1 year? I am in a fix of whether I should go and do another certificate. This is because if the guys at the POE are looking at the validity stated on the certificate then it means my Police Certificate won't be valid by the time I want to travel and I might be turned back. But if they follow the statutory 1 year then I'm fine. |
Yes O. Na real exam O . But I'm not afraid as I know the feelings I have for my fiancee. I love her with my life . |
Thanks so much djfrancis. Will study them passionately .Congrats once more. |
djfrancis:Wow, congrats! Please share the transcript with us. Congrats once more. |
djfrancis:Mine is in January. |
djfrancis:Really? Well, I have heard a lot of people say this. But I was scared as I have read many places on the Consulate website where it is said not to schedule interview date until told to do so. Anyways, it didn't take long after I got my NVC number before I was contacted by US Consulate, say one week. Immediately I got my NVC number I mailed the Consulate and they said they don't have my casefile yet. But I later realized that I can even track the movement of my casefile from NVC. So I checked online and it says my casefile is in transit. This confirmed what the Consulate said earlier. After a few days, I checked online and realised that my case has been received by the Consulate. So I mailed the Consulate again and this time they responded by directing me to proceed with payments and filing of the DS-160 form and scheduling of interview date. So that was my journey ![]() |
LegitBachelor:Was finally able to change my DS-160 number to reflect what's on my confirmation page. Did it after sending a mail to ustraveldocs support email. They effected the change within seconds! cc: jamoyakz, sharpman1 |
