I noticed that the DHL Pickup Centre in Victoria Island is the only pickup centre provided on the white form given me.

I had chosen Isolo as my desired pickup centre as its closer to me. But I'm made to understand that Isolo is not applicable for Immigrant Visa. So I'll have to "travel" once again to the Island to get my passport. I had traveled there for my medicals and also traveled there for my interview. It's well cheesy

Thanks Guys. I'll still be active on this thread and will always share my experience so others can learn something. I'm still learning myself as the journey continues.
TravelRe: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by LegitBachelor(op): 2:36pm On Jan 31, 2019
Guys, I was approved!!!

I'm so grateful to God for his mercies and blessings. The interview in itself was very brief. None of my documents or pictures was checked during the interview proper. Was just asked questions on dates. Questions like.....when did we started talking, when did we see each other in person, when did I propose. It was a smooth sail compared to the way others were grilled.

There were over 40 of us, but only 2 (that I'm aware of) were outrightly denied. Several were placed on administrative processing (visa wasn't denied though). They were given back their passport and requested to provide additional information before their visa can be issued. However many were approved at the spot and their passport retained for visa stamping.

Even though my interview time was short, I was there from 5am till 12noon. This is despite the fact that my appointment time read 6am shocked. The reason for this was because they gave priority to family members with little kids and elderly so they gave them numbers before me even though I came before them. Also another reason for the delay was because only 2 consular officers were interviewing us. Before each interview, the consular officer will go through the file thoroughly before he or she calls the applicant. It was a tiring wait but a fruitful one and I bless God for everything.

My advice to those going for the interview, just be yourself. You have nothing to fear as long as your relationship is genuine. Your fiance/petitioner, who is an American citizen, has every right to love and get married to anyone of his or her choice, whether a fellow citizen or an alien.

So relax, your fiancee chose you, so you will get the visa. Just get all your documents and commit everything to God.

@worriedgurl and @nextlevel2222

That's true. Wet signature on the Intent to Marry Letter is no longer a compulsory requirement. However I will still recommend people use wet signature. This is because some Consular Officers could insist for such and it'll be time wasting to start explaining to him or her that it's not required.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I will love to attach the affidavit and/ or spinsterhood certificate but how do i go about it? Just read sm stuffs abt it and it seem complicated.
The Local Government guys give it. They will also require you do an affidavit.

I meant chat records of wedding plans. At the latter, we do have chat records but not a day-day thingy. We practically talk daily via phone calls but chat once or twice a month.
Chat records mustn't be a day-day thingy. Just some form of evidence that you guys are in communication.

What do you mean by picture can suffice?
I meant pictures that will demonstrate your willingness to marry him within 90 days of entry into the States. Your Engagement Pictures and others can help.

Lastly can my father be a witness to signature?#PlsCheckDUploadedImage
No need for your Dad's signature. You are not married yet. But I don't think there's anything wrong if you want your Dad's signature there.

Here's a sample of the letter I wanna use but (1). I do not understand the second paragraph. Why would I marry in my country, won't it negate the very essence of the application since it's fiance and not spouse visa? and (2). I don't have chat records wiv him, we talk more via phone calls. So I don't think the third paragraph will work as a result. Will have to scrap that out, or what do you suggest?

Better still, what other supporting document(s) would you suggest I add to the letter as proof. Thanks

Cc @sharpman1 @djfrancis

Ps: we have done our introduction not engagement (traditional marriage) so no bride price was paid.
No, it's only saying you are eligible to marry in your country. That implies you are single. But you can change it and write that you are single. You may wish to attach an affidavit and/or singlehood certificate as evidence.

You mean you don't have chat records of your wedding plans or that you don't have chat records at all? If the former, no problem. Pictures can suffice. If the later, the consular officer might find it difficult to believe. In this age of whatsapp, facebook, instagram, twitter and other social media platforms, there should certainly be some form of chat records. The chat record is not a compulsory requirement to demonstrate intent to marry but it's a necessary document to assist with the overall application.

You and your fiancee can also change other content of the letter, but the structure is good.

Traditional Marriage is recognized as wedding. So if you guys have done traditional wedding, I recommend you guys go for Spousal Visa and not Fiancee Visa. But if you guys haven't done traditional wedding or bride price haven't been paid, they you may wish to go the Fiancee Visa route. If you guys did Introduction, I recommend you remain silent on that as some Consular Officers confuse it for a form of wedding. Engagement is required for Fiancee Visa. When I say engagement, I mean the type where the guy knees and ask the four letter words smiley. I don't mean the engagement in the traditional sense wink. Goodluck.

Hi guys, a quick one here

My fiance sent out our application August last year. He was contacted Jan this year for RFE(request for evidence) which is that the beneficiary should send an evidence that she intends to marry him within 90 days of arrival.

As regards the italicized sentence I need assistance, upon research I realised I wud have to write a statement(letter) which isn't an issue but the fact that my signature must be wet (these I do not understand).

I wud appreciate ur prompt response. Thanks

Cc @LegitBachelor, @djfrancis @sharpman1 and other concerned thread mates.
It means you will have to write the letter with both your name and your fiancee. Then you sign your part and mail it (via DHL or FedEx or USP or any other reputable international mail delivery company) to your fiance to sign his part before he mails it to USCIS.

They are against electronic signature and are also against you signing and scanning to them. It has to be signed with a pen and mailed to them.

Pls I live in Abuja...my interview is coming up soon..I don't know Lagos..who can recommend a hotel that is a walking distance both to Qlife and the U.S. consulate
Qlife is not a walking distance from the embassy. So it's not possible to get a hotel that's walking distance to both venues. But you can get hotels in between the two venues. However I recommend you get a hotel close to the embassy especially if your time is 6:00am and you are with family.

You need a graphic software and a good big size photo, Samsung phone is ok, download your photo to your computer and open it with Paint, Photoshop or any other software for images which allows you to change the size of the picture. First apply or check it has the highest resolution, 300 dpi, then cut off the picture to medium size the way the head is on the center, download the size guides picture from the US application site, have 2 pictures, Guides and the real photo, reduce the size of the photo (photo already cut with the head in the center) and make photo fitting to the Guide size almost precise, it should be still bigger size than the application is asking. Check the resolution and size again, some software let you cut off the background and put the white background, white background is better. Do not alter the face / head photo enhancing it digitally, keep it real as US gov. likes it. Now you being sure it has a good resolution, size the photo to what you need for application, save it and apply, you will not to have problems. You may work on layers to do the size changes what I explained or ask a digital graphic artist to do it but be careful, do NOT change or apply filters to the face, it will be rejected.

Believe me, I did it exactly as I explain applying for K1 visa, it works very well
Well said. For those who are IT savvy, this step is very useful. For those who aren't, ermmmm, the photographers are there for you smiley.

Good afternoon house. legitbachelor , djfrancis pls could you guys list all documents needed to take along for the interview?

Also, I am trying to take a picture of my son for the DS 160form but finding it difficult to get the 240kb size required. Pls how can I go about it ? I used Samsung phone.

Tnx guys.
The basic documents are: Appointment Confirmation Print Out, DS-160 Confirmation Page, GTBank Receipt, International Passport, Two Passport Photograph, Birth Certificate, Police Certificate, Medical Certificate, Affidavit of Support (Fiance), Bank Statement (Fiance), Tax Return (Fiance), Pay Slips (Fiance) and Employment Letter (Fiance). Any other documents are for you to support your case. Remember that photos of you and your fiancee should be with you incase the consular officer requests to see them. Photos of you guys and your son may be needed as well.

Concerning your second question, I advise you go to a good photographer.

@ legitbachrlor, djfrancis,sharpman1 and nextlevel,
Please guys my case is a different one. I am confused when asked how many children one have and how many children are travellinf with you in the DS160 form?

I had one boy before meeting my finance who is a K2 applicant.

But recently I had twins (2 baby boys) for my US citizen.

My question is, do I need to state also the twins in my D'S 160 form where questions about how many children where asked?

Note: my twins has been issued their US Passport.

Do I need to still include them in my DS 160 form?
Just fill it as it is. It all depends on the question. If they ask you to state how many children you have then you do so. But if they ask which children are seeking the K2 Visa then you provide those who are seeking K2.

If you are still confused, you can send us a screenshot so we can assist the much we can.

Laugh, how will they think it's an arrange introduction? Is it not the same introduction pictures he used in filing for the K1 over there to proof for the bona-fide relationship.

He owns a company in aviation,he was contacted by United Nation to give quotations of some projects thats why he wasn't around.
The USCIS don't grant visa, they only approve that the application should be sent to the embassy for consideration. The Embassy has the final say on granting the Visa and not USCIS.

That been said, just relax. There's no cause to panic. Since you had submitted the introduction pictures to the USCIS guys, it means the Embassy guys will see it too. My advice is that you get documentation ready to show you guys are not yet married (get your intent to marry letter which should say you guys are still single and intend to get married after securing the K1 Visa,
also get a bacherlood or spinster certificate and affidavit, if possible) should the Consular Officer decide to probe you on this. But if the Consular Officer is silent on it, then be silent on it too. You can go with th introduction pictures but don't present it unless requested to do so. And be ready to defend it.

Some Consular Officers tend to give trouble with Introduction Ceremonies. But the fact remains that Introduction is not marriage. This is because no bride price was paid and no traditional wedding was done. So don't worry. As long as you guys love each other, you guys will overcome.

where you sent a new appointment confirmation after the change?
Yes, they changed it for me after I had completed the appointment booking. They didn't change my appointment date. I don't think they sent me an appointment confirmation, but you can always print a new appointment confirmation by yourself. There's even a place on your ustraveldoc profile where you can send your confirmation to your email.

if yes, what then is the purpose of the case number?

or at what stage of the visa journey does one use it?
You already have a case number. If you don't know it, ask your fiancee who is a US citizen to call the NVC guys to get it. However, one can make payments even if one hasn't gotten a case number as long as he doesn't submit the DS-160 form.

I did absentee introduction with my fiance not around.... I have the photobook of the ceremony with me and part of the pictures were used by my fiancee to file for the k1...

Does that mean I shouldn't show them the photobook of the introduction?
Not advisable. I've read of cases were the application was denied because of this. Although the denial/non-approval could be appealed but that's another long process.

@ nextlevel2222, djfrancis, legitb and all please I need all your advise right now as I am scared time is running out on me because of getting an interview date especially.

Does that means I can go and fill my DS 160 now?

Which site do i register my profile and how do I go about it please?

I was thinking I will have to pay before picking an interview date ?

Do I register my profile first or fill the form firat?

Lots is going on my mind, please help me.

Tnx.
You can fill the DS-160 form now but don't submit yet. Also you can go to gtbank and pay for the K1 Visa and hold on to the receipt. You can also create a profile at ustraveldocs.com/ng. Make sure you use a valid email address.

Once the Embassy confirms receipt of your casefile, you can then quickly submit your form and then fill in your receipt number and other K1application details on your ustraveldoc profile.

The next step is to schedule an appointment. If you can't, no cause for alarm. Just keep checking your profile page until dates pop up.

PS: Just as nextlevel2222 adviced, you guys should email the embassy requesting to confirm if they've received your casefile. It takes 5 to 6 days for them to respond. If you guys don't email them, you might not know on time when you can proceed.

Regarding the change in DS-160 form, I don't think you need to write them. However you may wish to go with both. The recent DS-160 is the one that's valid anyway.
