Good morning everyone,

Please when submitting the regular bank statement, does it have to be stamped and does the bank have to write letter of introduction?
For Authenticity reason, it's advisable it should be stamped.

Your Bank giving you a Bank Reference Letter will solidify the bank statement

To Solidify your Bank Statement . This letter will show your accounts, opening date, outstanding debts such as credit cards and loan.
In a nutshell, this letter will show that the account has been operated to a satisfactory level. It must be printed on the bank letter head and include your name or sponsors name and contact of the bank

This what most bank refers to as BANK REFERENCE LETTER

The Letter will be addressed to the Canadian Embassy

The Visa Officer
The Deputy High Commission,
Canadian embassy
4, Anifowoshe Street
Victoria Island, lagos

The bank can either give you this letter in person or they send it to the mail of the bank account owner (sponsor)

You would upload this Bank Reference Letter together with your bank Statement

but all the postgraduate am seeing are 1yr.. I need a 2yrs prog that can qualify me for 2yrs PGWP
Yes you are right, but It is what is

Try to intensify your search for a 2 years program, you might aswell look out for a post from someone who can suggest a 2-year program in your Civil Engineering field

Alternatively,

Google search this course, check the overview & admission requirements to see if it's a program you can go for based on your Discipline.

They are both 2-years program

- Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Process Piping Design
Lambton College, Ontario

- Post Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Management

Good day, pls I need list of schools that can give master's admission in civil engineering with 2.84 cgpa.
because majority of the school are saying 3.0 cgpa.
I doubt if you can get a Masters admission with that CGPA.

The 3.0 required by the Canadian school is on a scale of 4.0 not the 5.0 grading scale of Nigeria

That is,
3.0 out of 4.0 is same thing as 4.0 out of 5.0

2.84 CGPA from 5.0 is lower, even when you convert it to 4.0 grading scale it will be more lower.

With the above 2.84 CGPA, look out for a Post Graduate Certificate program in a Civil Engineering related field

Good day everyone
I just bumped into this thread and I have few questions to ask .
Firstly will my age (28) be a factor to be denied a student visa from Canada especially to the fact I’m going in for my first degree ?

Secondly I came across an institution called University of Manitoba. How true is it that I don’t need to write IELTS and I can also pay my fees until I get there?

Thirdly if question one will be a problem for denial. What’s the solution if there is one
1) Yes it can, you are too mature for a Bachelor's degree program, Bachelor's degree program are mostly for students within the Age range of 17-24

2) Yes you don't need IELTS to apply of Admission in Canadian schools if you are a NIGERIAN & your medium of instruction all through your Undergraduate degree was English

3) I don't know if you can pay your fees when you get there, wait for response on this from the gurus in the forum

Solution to question 1

I will assume you are a Bachelors degree holder or
an HND holder.

At 28, you should be going for a Graduate program like;

Masters - If you av 2nd class Upper (2.1)

or

PG diploma/PG. Cert - If you have 2.2/3rd Class or HND Degree

For career/academic progression sake, the program must relate to your Academic Background or Work Experience or even both

Wait for suggestions and advice from the gurus if you don't have a first degree

Then input your Details, e.g Academic details etc.

not yet

I arrived Canada yesterday and it was preetty smooth through the airport. Although the quarantine is stricter now, they said they will send officials to come check where you are staying and confirm if you are really staying indoors
Hi ditha,

Thank God for the safe journey

1) Is your Intake for January, May or September?

2) I quote CIC, which says

"A number of people are exempt from these travel restrictions, such as Canadian citizens, permanent residents, certain temporary foreign workers, certain international students, or immediate and extended family members of Canadians, among others".

Sequel to the above statement,
apart from the 14-days Compulsory quarantine, does that mean that the new restriction (the $2000 3-days hotel hish) is not applicable to international students?

Please I am yet to start applying for anything.
I wanted to start from the first thread but got overwhelmed by the information.
At this point, I know little.
But let me specify what I know first so someone can guide me.

I have my international passport.
I have my certificate and statement of results.
I use a GTB bank
I have my transcript (student copy).
I am not financially buoyant so, I can't afford a lot of things (especially the tuition fees for Canadian universities I see online).
I know that I do not need to have much money in a block account since I can easily submit my bank account statement (please correct me on this if I am getting it wrong).

After this, please how do I get from this point to becoming a student studying masters in Canada (hopefully on scholarship). I want to pursue a master's program (or PhD if possible) in Information Security or Cybersecurity.
Please when should I start applying? what should I apply for first? How do I get scholarship or funding?

From these you can tell then I'm at the 'A' point and can't navigate my way through 'B','C',... To 'Z'.

Please itemise the responses according to timeline so I can get the image then I can easily ask more specific questions based on the different stages.

Please don't direct me to previous parts of the thread. The information didn't feel live.

Thanks.
Digest this first so you can know where you to start from

Ph.D. Research Assistantship in Soil Health Monitoring - University of North Dakota

The Darby Soil Ecology and Ecological Genomics Lab at the University of North Dakota is seeking a Ph.D. student for a USDA-funded soil health monitoring research project.

The goal of this project is to quantify the ecological and economic soil health effects of the Conservation Reserve Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field work, experience with plant and soil sampling, laboratory techniques related to soil health and microbiota, and analyzing geospatial data (such as the use of GIS, R, and/or SAS), with a M.S. degree in a related field (although we would consider qualified M.S. applicants as well). We seek someone who would be able to help with considerable travel and field work during the summer, and also pursue independent investigations into the soil biota, such as nematodes.

To apply,
please send a single PDF file to Brian Darby (brian.darby@und.edu) that includes a 1-2 page cover letter (including your academic background and current status, scientific interests, professional goals, and experiences with the relevant lab and analytical skills), curriculum vitae (plus any significant publications), graduate and undergraduate (unofficial) transcripts and GRE scores, and contact information for three references (institutional affiliation, email, and phone).

Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until a candidate is identified and invited to apply for admission to the University of North Dakota graduate program (ideally by Feb 15) to begin as soon as summer 2021. Preliminary letters of inquiry are welcome.

There is no urgent reason for anyone in that category to travel now. Many of these restrictions are reactionary and may gradually fizzle out before September, as long as the vaccines continue to be distributed and a new vaccine-resistant strain doesn't become a problem. Those for September intake should consider travelling by mid-late July/early August.
Alright, Thanks so much

If you've received the PPR, I strongly advise that you travel to Canada ASAP. Further travel restrictions may be underway. No one knows for sure if they would affect students but currently, all flights to and fro Mexico and the Caribbean would be stopped until April 2021. This would definitely affect students in those countries who need to travel. The list of countries can increase at any time too.

Apart from country-specific bans, they are trying to force all travellers to start their quarantine in a government designated hotel (which would be very expensive). This is only a hint of greater restrictions to come. The Quebec government is putting pressure on the Canadian government to even extend these restrictions and make them tougher. Again, I don't know the extent to which students will be affected or even if they would be affected at all, but if you have your PPR and for some reason you're delaying your travel, you should reconsider.

If you're Montreal bound, I'm happy to help you settle down to the best of my ability and as far as time allows. I won't be able to give you money, but I can provide you information, accommodation options, minor assistance (I can even drive), and a friendly walk/drive around the city to show you around if you want. I enjoyed these things from others when I arrived, and I'm glad to return the favour.
Hi Fratermathy,

Do you suggest a Sept. 2021 intake who has gotten PPR travel to Canada aswell?

Pls can some help or direct me to a list of possible Universities/colleges that I can apply for a post graduate diploma.
I would like to switch to a business inclined program would that be possible or must there a course progression for PGD?
Any link to the thread 13- 16 so I can do some work too and research myself, google is not helping.
I know u don't owe it to anyone to answer but pls help a brother achieve this dream.

With your degree in Mathematics, I doubt if you can go for a Business inclined program except you have Work experience in Business

Suggestion,
Why not go for a Post Graduate Program in Data Analytics, cos the four essential mathematics area/topics for a data analyst include statistics & probability, algebra (basic & linear), calculus, and discrete mathematics. There is a striking academic progression for you in if you go for Data Analytics.

In some of this "Data Analytic programs" you would see course outlines like;
- Mathematics for Data Analytics
- Data Manipulation Technique
- Social Data & Mining Techniques etc.

Do refer to this post for PG in Data Analytics programs & schools (colleges) that offers them
