Gbenge 77: I had worked in a bank before deciding to make a switch to the US.Yes,my colleagues were astonished,but I stuck to my guns.Arrived in the US,worked with the DOC for a few years ,before making a sitch to IT where the pay is in six figures.My former colleagues in Nigeria who thought I was doing well in Nigeria and actually frowned at my relocation then,are still astonished ,even today,And now they do concur that I took a chance that was well worth it.To each his own.(I had an engineering degree in Nigeria,but worked as a marketer in a bank.The banks were consolidating then,so they just invited people with a 2:1,for an interview,and once you dusted the interview,you got employed)

Got to the embassy just few minutes after 6am. Waited til about 7am when the 7am appointment were called. Did all the security, paid the 330 dollars, submitted my docs and waited til my no was called. Window 13,14,15 and 16 showed up but later 16 left. Window 13 and 15 were very tough cos they turned down several applicant. The CO in window 14 looks nice so I was abt praying to God to allow the guy interview me when He said to me that its not about nice that its all abt what He's arranged for me. So I changed the prayer and asked Him to have His ways.

Co: raise up ur hand
Me: did
Co: do u swear to say the truth

Interview proper:

House, I prayed to God that I don't want my interview to be upto 5min but low and behold, its wasn't upto 2min self. I wasn't asked anything about my BSc, O-level, grade nothing etc. Cos several ppl were asked those questions abt what courses they did etc. Met several ppl being interviewed and I stil left them there self. God be praised forever cos His favour actually went ahead of me. Indeed faith works wonder and its just lay hold of the end results. Thanks to the house too. God bless u all.

Landed sunday night at the George Bush Airport aboard Qatar airways after 8 hrs stop over in doha, went through the immigration, stopped for a check on my baggade and have my dried meat ( tinko ) , ginger and knoor chicken trashed by the airport screening officials, i was advice before leaving Naija to take red cab home since my host will nto be available to pick me at the airport but i saved $46 by taking a shuttle bus for $34 ( after an intenet search for cheaper shuttle at Doha ) instead of red cab for $80 to my destination ( naija brain ? ).

I am home trying to learn the ropes, gone out sevarally using the metro bus card with effective use of the navigation on my ipad. Its a nice environment here in houston and i am hoping to enjoy every bit of it.

In the meantime, i opened an account with Bank of America already and started spending from the account.......waiting arround for my GC and SSN. I have got some job offers awaiting my documentation.

I Hate 9ja: #Am a workaholic#....love usa coz hard work payz,standard level of security,good but xpensive educational system.,if u work hard....one can attain a high and quick height of acheivement,u attain ur set goalz....ur dreamz and hopez materialize....okan e a bale..u ve peace.u work as much as u want,when u become a usa univ. Grad. U earn as much as u can on ur choosed career,freestyle flexing and too much faaji,no one is jealouz abt ur achievement.....everyone mind his or her own bizness,world clazz road....after a long driving u dont feel pain and aches...lyk 9ja after series of galloping.....if u ve a good credit score...u ve a high chance to get a loan....to finance ur project be it house,bizness,schooling,car.etc,good health care system i.e ambulance arrival immediately,they dont go on strike like 9ja.....u feel loved by special people,no boko haram massacres,u taste d good lyf....Nepa no dey,u go forget 9ja for some time...u go get 6pack lyk adesoji and temmy.

daddykelly: yea am relaxed now,my oga @ the top(God) has done it..i moved yesterday evening from okota to onikan in order not to miss the interview...i passed through hell because the guy i was directed to don't even have a wrapper not to talk of carpet or mattrass to sleep on,while i dey sleep 4 under air condition 4 my uncle house @ okota....i have to borrow wrapper from his neigbour because there is no way i can go back to okota @ that time,so i endured.
I woke up around 3:13am because i was nt comfortable,started browsing(if u check u'll see my post around 3:33am).
I arrived @ the embassy like 15 minutes to 5(i was the 1st person there),waited until 6:00am a police man came and scanned us.later we were told to line up(i was no3 in immigrant queue).submitted 2nl only and passed through security checks(very tight).
Paid my dv fee 330 dollars(i paid in dollars) @ window 22.
Later called to submit my documents @ window 17.
After 5 interviews i was called to window 14(a cute white guy),he dint even tell me i just put my hanh there take finger print,the interview went thus:

Yes, it doesn't matter who made the payment. All you need is the confirmation or reservation number, otherwise known as the PNR and your travel documents.

jidex001: Hi, if u reside in lagos why are u booking in wakanow. Even if not lagos. D agent fee on the ticket u will get from them is diferent from the normal ticket you get through the airline counter. D diff is like btw 13k to 20k. Why not go to international airport at 3pm were most airline office will be open. My broda. We really have to be wise in spending and u no we still gat lot to do with money. That my take on d issue on ticket.

jidex001: Online booking are not expensive, they are sometimes cheaper and stress free or sometimes same with counter. Than when u buy via counter. If u buy via wwww.wakanow.com or othere travelling agent online. It will be like diference for 13k to 18k to the normal price which airline sales their ticket.
