thank very much for info. But one i want to is that is d board original that can be upgraded?
I personally had doubts about it being upgraded but since i tested it on infinity tv & w4 channels and it worked well, i was o.k with it.

Fear of frying the panel no allow me do anything, afterall its working fine.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Strong Receivers Thread by life707: 10:54pm On Dec 26, 2010
Just to pass info across to those with 4661x 4663x.

There are 69x panels available in the market that can be fixed into ur 61x or 63x converting it to a 69x.

it goes for 5-7K depending on the shop. All infinity video & audio, active & works well with those w4 channels that are open.

Please this is just an info, find out the rest for urselves.

You forgot to answer the question, do i need to move the dish?

If its just indoor stuff, i should be able to learn and do it myself, besides each time I call the installers they take me take me to town in wad!
Yes,you need to move ur dish. keep an eye on what ever he does & read from the forum,so as to marry what he does with what you read.

Thanks man.

I guess I have to call the installers again, because like I said am a complete novice. I dont know how to imput the frequencies.

When you say track eritrea tv2, do I have to mess around with the dish or I can do it indoors with my decoder?

My 3.5m dish is fixed on nilesat position at the moment.
Since u'r a novice, let ur installer take charge

@Badaru

I am a COMPLETE novice, here is what I want: To watch EPL via fta.

I was told by a local installer here in Benin city that an HD decoder would do the job when used with a 3.5M dish.
He claimed that I could watch EPL on AD sports channel on nilesat and nova channel on hotbird.

1. Is this true? Can I watch EPL with an HD decoder on nilesat with a 3.5M dish in Benin city?
2. Do I need anything else (because another person mentioned "microbox", though the guy also said "microbox" was unreliable.
3. Another option I was told is that  I should have a modem equipped with a sim card combined with some other devices bla bla bla

The result is that I am thoroughly confused. I have noticed that most of the installers dont seem to know what they are doing cos one tells me exacly what the other says does not work!

I have spent money on these guys, yet no show! I am left with a 3.5m dish and a 4669 strong decoder and I can barely get more channels than multitv was giving me with a small dish for a fraction of acquisition cost.

Pls nairaland gurus make una come to my aid!!

waiting and hoping
For EPL/LA LIGA/ SERIE A & UCL;
You can use your 3.5m(esp if pan) & 49x to track Eritrea tv2 on Arabsat 5a(Ku) @ 30.5E.

Tracking Frequency; 12612v2590 fec-3/4 (google the biss keys).

I still insist you contact Badaru1 for more help.

@ life707 pls can u upload pic for the 2.4m 6 in 1 setup. But my challenge is how to get the perforated flat bar for the extra lnb in p/h
Guy i wish i can, but cant now coz i set up from time to time, dismantle when i've a different option for same sat. when guante02 requested for 7 in 1

lnbs with Nilesat as primary, i had to redo the setup but the pix i sent to his mail was poor & promised to send a better one which means i've to re mount the setup again for sake of the promise.

One lesson for me is to take pix of what ever setup i make for reference purpose.

guente02:
Bro how can one get that metal strip u used in holdin the lnbs? What is it made of?
Go to any welder & ask for 1 inch flat bar, then ask them to drill at intervals of 1 inch or slightly less using a drilling bit that is sufficient for size 10 bolt. Once perforated its easy to manipulate using pliers.

Option 2: For those in KD & Kano, there are ready made 'scalers' (Perforated lnb holders with a round metal at one end to hold the lnb) U can buy from any sat shop.

Dont call any idi*t, they will tell u to send them recharge card to unlock ur modem then, another to tell u hw it works after which you will be told to load 500naira,
use ur about 40Mb out of the 50mb and once it 10 mins to midnight you should wake up from ur sound sleep & be online til its 5mins past midnight & ur MB will be automatically restored back to 50MB and the process continues daily for suffer head people.

You are right but in addition a few of the Earlier HDs were Mpeg 2.

Please reconsidered ur steps but anyway discover what we dont know. Happy tracking,

@life 707. I have a 2.4m pan and it's on badr 4/5/6 can i do the multi lnb setup with it (prime focuse) because I have tried to nail w6 with 90cm in p/h no progress. fta4life
Bro, I say a BIG YES. I've a 2.4m pan locked on Arabsat 5a-ku @ 30.5E & b/4 now attached 6 extra Lnbs (PAS7/10@68.5E, EW4@36E, Badr5@26E,

EW6@21E, Amos5i@17E(C-band) & EW3a/sirus4@5E/7E). Anyway detached them after 3 on 1 set 3months back.

Also know that once u get 30.5E, freqs for astra 2b@28.5E will naturally fall in place on same lnb.

In my location i use 1.8m pan for badr4/6  but funny enough cant track arabsat 5a-ku with 1.8m though still working on it. With 1.8m on badr4/6@26E had a 6 in 1 setup (i.e without amos5i@17E).
ogunsg:
what % u are geting 3 on 1 lnb 90cm
EW6:2m- 66%, Astra2b: multitv- 92%, infinity-85%, GTV-74%, badr5:12322v27500-76%, EW4: RDV-62%, SS3- 86%, hi sport-94%.

GREAT LIFE 707,you are indeed a man of creativity, innovative, showmanship and eye openner to me as a person.really I have being wondering on how to appeace my landlord because of 4 big dishes i erected on my bungalow roof,he had been complaining indirectly and i dont have budget for another apartment, however,i have to live moderately comfortably.please i need you to kindly highlight comprehensively how i can use one of my 90cm dishes to track,36,28and 26,EW3 and sirus 4 on one dish,to reduce the number of dishes on my roof.thanks in anticipation.KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK,
Tracking this bird depends on your experience on tracking easy birds like sirus4(4.8E), Badr5(26E), astra2b(28.5E) & EW4(36E).

If i assume your Ans is Yes, then start by boosting your confidence by trackin 12605v29950(4.8E) & then 12130H27500(Strongest TP on 36E) & note the limits.

In b/w lies 21.5E(2M), narrow down by tracking 12552v19531(28.5E) by moving to the left(facin the dish) from 36E, next track 12322v27500(26E) by moving again left all along moving progressively upwards.

Finally, move once more to the left by tracking 11653v15714(21.5E). After getting EW6 as primary focus, track Astra2b (12552Vv19531) above the primary lnb & to its left as in the pix, next track EW4 & sirus 4 positions as seen in the pix.

NB:EW3a was not included as explained earlier, due to lower EIRP value in region compared to the rest attached lnbs(W4,Astra2b,badr5 & sirus4)
Also note the lnb skew for easy tracking.

Good Life, 707.
You are good for the tech expo. well done!
I have 3 dishes. I used one for w4/w7@36, another for astra2a2b2d@28.2E and the 3rd one for W3A.
Could u please advise how I can combine these?
By the way, which channels are u getting with the combination?

Carry on the good work.
You may need to use 2 dishes.The 1st for EW4 &Astra 2b while the 2nd for EW3a & sirus 4.

Alternatively, U may experiment with a 90cm: EW3 as primary then attempt EW4 above it & to d 10 'O clock position, U may discover what we are not sure of even though it seems impossible (abt 30 degree difference)

I get ALL Channels on EW4, EW6, Atra2b, badr5 & ALL channels on 12605V29950(Sirus4).

@ALL, Its interesting to inform u that sirus4 (12605V29950) % i got now was 64% & not 56% that i got during my initial setup.

Also, i found out that, attaching the lnb holder for sirus4 to the arm of primary lnb(as illustrated in pix 3) would allow for better manoeuvrings, ease of setup & a higher % of 68%.

After tracking EW4 move ur dish to left (facing the dish) with gentle up & down movement progressively moving upwards, then track badr5 @26E &

note it position & then move once more to the left & upwards to track EW6@21.5E with lnb skewed at 7.30 or 8 O' clock position.

Congatulations man.

FTA "life" is worth living. Just wanted to know , if you have cut the moths of all of the lnbs?
well, only the lnb for astra 2b/badr5 was cut but not for this purpose. I had used it in the past to nail nilesat b/4 abandoning it-thats why it was cut.
I dont know if cutting the throat of the lnb would make much difference since we are within the footprint of d signals.

@All, thanks for your comments.

versace400:
Pls did u construct d lnb holder or is it d one we use to tie lnb with rope?I already have 36 and 28 degree on one dish bt i used rope to tie d lnb.
I used the semi circle metals(usually one on either side of LNB) that are on a normal LNB holder for 180cm prime focus dish.

Also used the long bolts (that were intended to hold down the base of the dish on the ground) to fasten each lnb to the perforated flat bar.

However i must say here that, lnb for astra2b/badr5 was not directly placed on the flat bar cos it wouldnt give me the high % of signal i want in both sats.
So i placed another short bar to hold that lnb before attaching it the straight flat bar. take a closer look at the pix.

NB; The lowest % in the whole setup is that of NTV(36E) which is 58% followed by 12437h23478 at 62%.

you gonna have to put your elevation into consideration. First, if you elevate to W6 then you should know you are 15 degrees away from 36e which will not enable you to lock on w4.
My advice is, choose a closer birds to nail. e.g astra2b and badr5 (26e and 28e). Etc.
Hope that help. And you can come up with your idea. IN FTA we experiments.
@niddle_9,
I like ur mature way of answering questions, quite tactful even when ur are nt sure, i commend u once again.

i 'll like to inform u that its possible to have a difference of upto 16.5 degrees on 90cm & upto 42 degrees on 180cm dish. it depends on the EIRP( in dBW) value of the beam in ur location(naija).

E.g Viasat 1 on nss7 has EIRP of upto 44dBW while CNN on same c-band has EIRP of 39 dBW, this means it will be easier to track nss7 c-band using viasat 1 freq than cnn on the same sat.

Another e.g, W6 has EIRP of 42dBW but cant be tracked as off set on 180cm with nilesat as primary while EW4 freqs with EIRP of upto 47-48dBW

can be tracked even though its 42degrees away from the primary lnb unlike W6 which is just 22.5degrees away.

In Summary, once a sat beam has an EIRP of upto 42dBW & above in naija, its possible to get it on 90cm E.g Eurobird 2 @25.5E (Has 2 FTA Channels - CNN & MTV Arabia).

Cheers.
