obnelly: mbc on 90cm on nilesat 7w?That is not possible with such dish .Although it all depend on your geographical location.if you are closer to mena regions you may be lucky enough with 90cm.

@ obnelly, satellite technology is fast evolving....we will move with it. 1yr ago, i helped a frnd installed mbc on nilesat using 1M dish in katsina but same was impossible in kaduna whr i stay then.
Six months ago i tried same in jos whr i moved to but cld get mbc and i gave up.
At the time of tying this post, mbc 7w is live on 1M dish in kaduna.
Infact, whn i get back to jos, that will b my first task .

We used to say JSC sport shows everything except EPL but now they will b showing all.
Yes,the price of cards will go up but far better than d south africans however a larger dish size is d limitation .
Hopefully,since the right is global, i hope they would transmit via NW beam for subsahara .

Inaddition, ensure that the 16 or 35mm cable is copper and aluminium. Also ensure that there are no joints in the lenght of cable u will be using but if thats not possible make sure any joint is well taped.

pcwhiz: Mehn i luv ds thread, heres my problem.. I was able to hit nilesat wit a 1m dish here at zaria but prblm is dt channels lyk aljazerra, smile tv, fx, spin jordan(radio) are no longer workin, is it my dish size or they've changed their freq.. Tnks

Your dish size of 1m can only afford u aljazeera news english but in good hands you get the mbcs that cracks frm time to time.
A 1.8M will offer u more stable channels and a 2.4 or 2.6M Will give u every thing including CNN, JSC SPORT,ADD, Orbit-showtime.

In the north-(Kaduna,zaria,jos),you MUST use atleast 2.4M pan dish for program national.

I saw some battries rated 20V 2500amp. The type is HOPPECKE made by the Germans. A company is currently using it for back up power to their system. Can three of these batteries work with a 48V solar/inverter system? Or can 5 pcs work with a 96V solar/inver system?

Fx Tv is on nilesat, a general family entertainment channel like Fox Series. Now in Jos,Nigeria.

From my experience, warm/hot batts= Death of your batts=loss of your money.
Quickly do away with that inverter, just my 50cent.

Actually,nile signal for us staying in the south west is becoming very poor. Earlier we get most of the V tps with 2.4m pan but these days even with 3m,some of the tps have become elusive. I used Tp like 11862v and 11977v to track before,now even with full signal on 3m I no longer see them. Surprisingly Tps like 11804h and 11880h that used to be difficult are now very high

My advice is for you to work on jsc and mbc tps that are available and free

I agree with Badaru 1.
Due to the migration to Nilesat 201, we in the North are experiencing a drop/loss of signal strength in some frequencies.
In addition,especially those with 2.4M, be patient till after the launch of AB7.
At present, freqs like 11785v27500,11727v27500 are cracking at 44-46% on 1.8M & with 2.6M pan, 11862v & 11977v are 67% but elusive on 1.8M.

please check the signals strength below

Pls note that on motorized dishes, alternating between H & V Polarity is very Important.
I suggest you switch btw V & H polarity when you encounter a problem like this.

2 banks were fairly used. They were being replaced with more compact models in the base station. Its the 2v/400AH type.

Roger that. The ones i get from the telecom guys in kd are also fairly used & i can authoritatively say they perform wonders cos since i dumped my indian & chinese batts over 18months now i have experienced peace with the fairly used ZTE Batt, 2v/300AH & HAGEN batts.
Personally i prefer individual cells than the compact ones cos there is compromise on quality.
In a year or two, u will attest to this statement of performance of fairly used telecom batts.

On  my 1.5 meter offset dish the signal strength is @ 72% on my 2.4 meter offset dish the signal strength  is @ 90%.
One point to note is that part of the Nilesat 201 beam covers part of kenya and most people in the country are using 1.8 meter prime focus dish to access the satellite for both AbuDhabi HD Channels and Aljazeera HD Channels.
This week[b] i noted that the changed the Fec on frequency 11727H from 3/4 to 5/6[/b]. The change in Fec is meant to restrict the signal side loops outside the official foot print. Have you noticed a decrease in the signal strength of frequency 11727H in the past week?

Thanks for the info. I never knew coz i've tried reasoning it but it eludes me & it didnt occur to me to see the coverage of Nile 201.

I thought the signal reduction was only due to changes in weather condition. My 11727H cracks badly now
