In Benin City as of today, those who want to generate revenue from Benin Court art don't go to the palace to ask for samples, rather they carve their own afresh in replication of the palace versions and sell to the public. Likewise, in the National Museum, Onikan, Lagos State, there is a separate Benin Gallery where artworks carved in identical replication of the palace for the public to freely view and sales at very high prices for the sake of revenue generation by the federal government. Why can't Edo State Government do same but insisting on those very original ones meant for the palace?
