KingRex1:It might not make sense in Nigeria context, but public opinions shape policies in the US and put the elected politicians on notice that, their mealticket is on the line unless they listen. And peaceful protests like these are stronger form of public option. The mere fact that, the crowd at the Washington Mall was greater than that on the same Venus during Trump's inauguration speaks volumes. |
Nomfanelo99:Sorry for my myopic generalization. |
Nomfanelo99:All na part of the hurdles you have to endure, plus una 9ja girls suppose to dey support him ministry. Knowing fully well that he is enduring all these because of one of you. Once he has paid his price and get his green papers, he will be heading to 9ja to pick one of you as his wife and like play like una go start to dey enjoy where una no labor plus on top of the yabs wey una give am when he was laboring. |
obinnaoduduwa:You can't shine sh1t, it is impossible. Person dey tell you say sh1t dey smell, you dey ask how him go polish am, make e look good. |
ReneeNuttall:I are kind of saying the same. Apart from the general contracting rule of thumb I indicated above...major point was that, in this case the madam went overboard by keeping 100% of the girl's earning, this was definitely no disclosed to her, else I don't know who in their right minds will sign up. What I usually hear is that, they are given a time frame to pay off the 'debts'. The madam also tried to cheat her further by under reporting the balance she still owe. These attitudes of the madam must have contributed to her rating her off and testifying against her and these were not disclosed to her ahead of time before she signed the contract e.g. that the madam will inflate the amount owed. The vast majority of ladies that does this and I have seen interviewed or read about, tend to stick to their original agreements, if the madam do not try to play a fast one like this one. |
ReneeNuttall:Not true, they were deceived and lied to. I doubt if she ever to agree to work in a foreign country without some form of remuneration. Even, if such a written agreement exits and this was a legitimate business or trade; the agreement is not efforceable as all agreements and contracts must clearly state the benefits each of the parties will receive in exchange for their signatures. The parties must also be of sound minds when entering into such agreements, taking them to a voodoo prince clearly showed, they were coerced to sign the said agreement. |
sweettease:Some companies do it, at the interview stage, they will ask you to write down your social media account IDs e.g. Facebook, twitter, etc. |
Jokerman:Oh! you think, she just realized the guy was a follow today? For goodness sake, she knew all along that, this guy is a dictator with one of the worst human right records against his own people for more than two decades now and just tagged along. |
Trust women, they can forecast your future from a far; if the tea leaves tell them that, your future will be bright, they will tag along. Once the future becomes shaky or blink, don't count on them to ride with you to the bitter end. They will disembark at the closet convenient bus/stop and start strategizing on the next person to tag alone with. The truth is, if you lose your job or your future becomes shaky, you will alway lose woman. She might not live right away, but the countdown has begun. So, if your woman is behaving strangely lately and you still have a job, check your future, she might have sensed some wrinkle there or if you have lost or about to lose your job, that will explain all the sudden change of attitude. |
HateU2:You know this how? Even, that apart, doesn't he have the same and equal rights to the child as the mom does? And if you add the 'Nigeria factor', he as the man may be seen as having more rights. |
lastpage:I understand your position and the truth is, that is the prevailing position in the US. However, the COPs when called, usually try to determine the aggressor between both parties. They look for injuries and in almost all the cases, where injuries are on the men and not the woman and the man agree to press charges, the woman is taken to jail. One of the many reasons, you do not see women aggressors going to jail is because, women more often than men are willing to press charges. Most men, will decline to press charges and volunteer to leave for the seek of their kids. However, most women will want to press charges or inform the COP that night, that they will press charges and later go and withdraw the charges or decline to testify against their husband and the case will die under it's own weight. If there are no injuries, it becomes a judgement call. Also, it is not true that the aggressor is not free to come back the next day, it usually depends on the circumstance. If the aggressor or one person volunteer to leave, they are free to come the next day. The COPs does not have any authority to order them to stay away from their home, in the above case; they volunteer to leave. However, if no one agrees to leave, the COPs have to determine who is the aggressor and take them to jail, where they will face a bail hearing the next count date and the Judge will have to determine, if they go back or not...Without the order of a Judge, the COP can not order you to stay away from your house period! You will agree that, you are been stereotype in stating that, in 100% of the cases; the husband is the one that gets booted. A little google on US family law cases across the US, will reveal cases where ladies who have been deem less fit compare to their husband are given the boot and asked to pay child support to the husband. The fact that, in most of the cases; women get to stay is in sync with men's nature...in that, most of us will prefer to be out there chasing after one challenge or adventure than to be responsible full-time 24/7, for the upkeep of my kids; most of us are okay with reasonable visitations and unhindered access to the kids and as such are unwilling to fight to the bitter end, when our rights are guaranteed, which many women usually agree to. The truth is, there are very few bitter separation fights to the very end, most are settled and usually with the guy agreeing to let the woman take the kid(s) in agreement to access to the kid(s). |
kayzat:Agreed, some ladies take advantages of the effective US Justice and enforcement system & policies. But, you should understand the reason behind these policies. Anybody, even your kids have the rights to call the cops, if they feel threatened and unsafe in the US and it is a crime if you prevent them from calling or snatched the phone from them. She is within her rights to call the cops, if she feel unsafe or if there is domestic abuse and once the cops arrives on a domestic abuse call, their policies is to separate them and let them stay apart for a while to cool off. This policy have prevented the situation from escalating further, leading to injuries or even death. Usually, the cop gives both parties the option of who will volunteer to leave, but if kids are involved and it is the wife that called; it is more convenient to have the woman & the kids to stay and the guy walk away. The guy would usually go to the club, kool off and retire to a hotel to pass the night, the next, when emotions have settled down, they can then address their problems. It is unfair to hold this against this lady. She did the right thing (and am a man). Also, it will be difficult for her to arrange the assignation of her husband from the US. Note that, am not saying 'impossible'. The cops in Nigeria should do their job and as normal protocols, she should their number suspect until they can eliminate her as a suspect. Let them check phone records, if she is involved, the traces will be there to follow. Warning to all Nigerians in diaspora, please do not go home and start 'showing off', be discreet, smart and watch your back constantly. The country is very hard and it take very little for people to fall into the temptation of causing you harm in order to put even one meal on the table for their families and with the high rate of unemployment, it means the the number of idle minds who will be susceptible to such temptation are just too many. The recession is biting hard, don't add insults to injury and go there to rob it in their faces. |
What are you truly waiting for her to do? To turn to you one day, with one kneel on the ground and say Mr. Handsome...I am ready now, let's be boyfriend and girlfriend? Men! You fall my hand, from your assertions, you never even opened your mouth to declare your intentions towards her, yes she kind of knew and prempted your request, but you must formally ask a lady out, even if they are suspicious of your intentions to do that. Despite some ladies 'acting surprised' when a guy eventually ask them out, the truth is, I can count on one hand ladies that didn't see it coming. They want to be woo'ed, they want to hear you say it. Don't confront her, try to grow up and be a man for a change, ask her to be your girlfriend, tell her how you feel about her. As much as buying stuff for a lady you care for is commendable, that does not make you a man, they wouldn't respect you for that. Which lady will even want to be with a guy, who can't speak for himself? Charity, they say begins at home, if you can't speak for yourself and for what you want, how will anyone think that you can speak for them and what they want? If you think you love her, go out there and get her, don't wait till the eve of her birthday, how about right now? |
pesinfada:I truly don't see anything wrong with loaning one of opposite sex money. Everyone of us, fall on hard time from time to time, and to use one's gender as a criteria in rendering a loan is bad. But, if you are in a relationship with that individual, it is better to trade carefully and don't mix business with pleasure and loan is a business. Though, you may not go to the extend of asking them to write you a promissory note (if you can, the better) but at least ask them to send a txt message requesting for the loan, what it will be used for, when they will pay and interest, if that is part of the deal. And do not give them cash, do a bank transfer and utilize the note section of the transfer to indicate that it is a loan, its payback time, etc. With the above, you created enough paper trail and also to put them on notice. |
Fuadeiza:Prescription glasses and contact don't fix the problem, they just manipulate the light getting into your eyes from the object you are viewing, so that the image can be properly superimposed on your retina, this way your brain can interpret the image correctly. As such, they only work when you put them on and can degrade in effectiveness with time, either because, the glasses gotten lots of crashes from misuse (or inappropriate storage) or the eyes problem have gotten worse. This is why, at least a yearly visit to the Optician is good, so they can do a reexamination and if there are any changes, they will give you a new prescription so you can obtain a new glasses or contacts. That said, LASIK Eye Surgery is another option if you don't want to keep wearing and removing glasses/contacts and it is semi permanent i.e. upto ten years before you go for enhancements, depending on your age and the degree of correction that was made to bring you back to 20/20 vision, the lesser the better. |
LoveMachine:Don't get over excited as your hopes will be dashed. This is the typical pump and dump, read the part that says, it is a pre-privatization exercise. After pumping N500b of tax payers money into, they will turn around and sell it to one of their own for N100b or something close. |
Ginaz:It means you are shortsighted and need to see an optometrist for prescription glasses. You may also be having unexplained headaches from time to time and had been drinking panadol, etc to dumb it down unnecessarily. Some headaches are caused because bad eye sights. Like you said, you see far object blurry, since your brain cannot distinguish those object, it constantly tries interpret the light superimposion on your retina to make out a meaning for it, but each time it comes up short and it keeps trying. This over work but strains on your eyes and nerves ends in the brain leading to headaches, if you take care of the eyes, the headaches attributed to this will automatically disappear. |
SuperSuave:You can read their msg without them getting the double blue ticks...toggle off 'Read Receipts' under Privacy and they will only see the grey double ticks, indicating their msg was received, but they wouldn’t see the blue double ticks that, it was read. Also note that, like with Whatsapp Privacy setting, the reverse is also true, in that you will not see double blue ticks from anyone as well. |
Bahddo:They will let the Nigerian go, and if the Nigerian log a complaint against the American, they must investigate it. Now, in Nigeria it could happen differently. The Nigerian Police is right in letting the diplomats go, but detaining these guys on account of kidnapping, is another story. Also, remember that we have only heard one side of the story, plus the diplomats were blocked from moving by the Nigerians, which is a method kidnappers uses...I believe eventually he will be release, but true to form, Nigeria Police wants some kickback before releasing them, which is a different issue and common in Nigeria. But, lets not connect both issues, it blurs the merits of our conversation. |
Bahddo:Yes, and thrown in jail! Diplomat Immunity is terrible, look at what some Diplomats have done in America and went scott free, if an American had tried one tenth of what each did, they will be in jail... http://www.cracked.com/article_19591_6-most-ridiculous-abuses-diplomatic-immunity.html According to this site, Nigerian Diplomats are owing more than $800k in parking tickets in NYC alone: http://gothamist.com/2016/03/04/diplomatic_immunity_nyc.php And there is nothing the NY PD can do about it, they usually write them off as loses, but a citizen cannot dare do this, they will impound and tow your vehicle and in NYC, your vehicle will not be released until you paid the ticket and also pay for the impound. |
Bahddo:Yes, Nigerian Diplomats in New York City get away without being held accountable to crimes and infractions that American Citizens cannot even dream of. |
persius555:There is nothing the police can do in this case, according to the law, they must allow the diplomats to go, Nigerian diplomats abroad are accorded the same protection/special treatment compare to their own citizens....and believe me, you know say as Nigerians, our diplomats also abuse these protections abroad. |
dominique:It is the law, they have diplomatic immunity and it is there for a reason. Nigerian Diplomats in the New York City do the same thing, parking is tough in NYC, but they park anyhow and when they receive traffic citations, they ignore it, when the police catch them driving over speed limit, they let them go. They can even assault and beat up American citizens and there nothing the police can do about it. There are two avenues to deal with offenders with diplomatic immunity, one is take it up through Nigeria State department or go directly and file a compliant at their embassy with documented proof, plus put huge social media pressure on them aka 'shaming the foreign government' into action. All these foreign embassies and their host countries are on facebook, twitter, etc; use that medium to your advantage, before you know it, they will agree to pay for your damages, and then might call those diplomats back to their countries. Most Nigerians do not use these medium, especially those who complain bitterly about their Lebanese employers. Yes, some of the atrocities of these Lebanese employers are ban through their labor license and can be resolved through the right State agency in Nigeria, but majority of them can only be resolved if you go directly through their embassies and foreign government. |
O boy, dis your grammar no bi here oh! Well, is the guy aware that you are aware of the financial help? I beg, package her and send her home with immediate alacrity. Her head done enter bush, and when a woman enters bush like dis, she is irredeemable. Please, make sure her mom is aware of all the awares that you are aware of. |
Abiagirl777:But why did you state that, it was "...courtesy of her uncle"? It is more like, "...courtesy of her own dad" |
Can someone please educate me on how Nigeria is governor among the three tiers of government again? Please, note that my goal is not for or against the above said ban by PMB or the indicated reversal by the Senate. This is purely academic in nature with view to understand Nigeria governance and interactions between the various forms of government. My understanding is, as the head of the executive branch, PMB is within his rights to place such a ban. Since he shoulders the day to day running of the country and is charged with the responsibilities to make daily policies to effect that. Now, if the Senate or House, thinks that PMB have over step his boundary and is disobeying existing laws, they have various tools to call him to order... 1. They can take him to court, for the third arm of government to look into the laws and rule. 2. They can pass new bill to call him to order. There is no indication that, they too him to court over this. That leaves us with option two....but for a Senate bill to become law and override an Executive decision, the same bill must also be pass in the House and signed into law by PMB and if PMB exercise his veto powers, he can veto the bill, which sends it back to the Senate & House for a 2-3rd majority vote to override PMB veto. There is no indication that, the above process was followed and it is misinformation to assert that, the mere passing of a bill in the Senate automatically stops an Executive policy or order. or are mine missing something? |
Asey:Thanks, we learn something each day. It kind of look funny and out of place, to the rest of us, who are less informed about it, but obviously a fashion trend for many. |
What is that? A sack, skirt or a dress? |
Silentscreamer:Don't underestimate the abilities of the Nigeria Super Eagles to screw up when it matters most. Also, do not forget that, clueless Mr. Solomon Dalung is still the Sport Minister. |
kidman96:O boy cut him some slacks. And, there might be some truth in what he is saying, though not in the sense of 'he cannot sue', but more of, 'it's worthless suing'. Looking at the economic of scale, going to court over N3,000, is foolish as you will spend more than that, before even getting a court date; you might not win, as you have the burden of proof. |
dfrost:I don't think you can get a burner phone or SIM card again in Nigeria, no provider will sell you a SIM unless you register it. If reported to EFCC, they can even use the recharge card number to unravel the misery and get this individual. Each Telecom provider have a database of all their recharge card numbers (used & unused) and call pull up which phone number used which recharge card number for top up. All EFCC need to do, is send the recharge card number to that provided and they will pull the records for them. If if this individual have been receiving recharge cards from other sources, they can also get that historical data. |
He does not need to work at NDA to have access to your name and info on your dad. Based on your statements, you have been to NDA interview before and was disqualified at the board screening stage. Names of all candidates called to an interview at NDA are usually printed on national dailies or some public places, including their state of origin. |
