It looks like the tattoo guy walked into a setup...but Nigeria Police have to up their interrogation game, this interrogation is a sorry sight. If they do this proper, they will go to the bottom of what actually happened and who did what. But an afraid they will be lazy and just charge all three. I think they should isiolate them and focus their interrogations more on the tattoo guy and the girl. The timeline of the call to the tattoo guy and when the Juma guy arrived can easily be verified, also what time the tattoo guy contacted authorities...if he died 2 days ago, I wonder why the tattoo waited that long before calling the authorities. The lady is singing 'innocent' but she was using one of the phones, press her and she will start singing like nightingale. |
EgunMogaji:I didn't see the part where she is a fiancee. That even make it easier...he just file petitions 1 & 2 and she is done...or do nothing during the 90 days window mandated by USCIS to get marry in the US and no marriage takes place, she is done. I never asked that he seek permission to divorce, I said, he should file a petition. A little side note, in some US state you kind of need the permission of your sponsor to divorce as their 'no cause' divorce law is so strict and sometimes your circumstances might not meet the 'no cause' divorce criteria....if you have an uncorporating sponsor in a divorce case in the US, expect it to drag on for years, it is always better for both of to agree and work things out ahead. |
He should do three things: 1. File a petition with USCIS to withdraw his affidavit of support. 2. File another petition with USCIS Alleging fraud. 3. File a motion to annul the marriage. The lady's status in the US will turn to undocumented illegal. If he truly want to pay her, don't file the annulment and and don't file for divorce. She will still become undocumented but now also unable to remarry legally again. |
youngbelieve:Simple solution..... If you are in love you will know, dem no dey tell person say rain dey fall....since you don't know, it means you are lusting over him period! |
adepeter26:Can you point to any biblical verse to back this 'religious beliefs'? Note Israelite, the custodian of the Abrahamic religion, marry their consins till date. When you say 'culture', which culture are you referring to? Without going far, in Nigeria, we have many cultures that marry their cousins e.g. Hausas, Fulanis...outside Nigeria, the Kongo in Congo, Ashanti in Ghana, the Kpelle in Liberia, etc...do it. Agreed, there are some cultures that forbids it, but it is not universal and does not hold any spiritual significance. |
Why are people bringing spiritual angles into this? I can't remember any Bible verse condemning sleeping with cousins. If you believe in the Bible's procreation story, our great grand parents were brothers and sisters as in the same father, the same mother and the Bible is littered with plenty examples of cousins marrying each other. Because of the genetic closeness of cousins or close relations, science frown at close relations birthing offersprings because of the possibilities of abnormalities, this was not done because of some spiritual discernment. There is no different between her bleeping a complete stranger from outer space and her cousin, as far as the Bible or spiritual consequences are concern. |
fallout87:And what will be the evidence that will be submitted that Dino graduated? And you think SR is not going to be given an opportunity to challenge the veracity of that evidence? And before you can challenge the veracity of any evidence, you are given the right to discovery and that is where SR will sink ABU and Dino. |
fallout87:Even seasoned and experienced lawyers will tell you that, no case is 'open n shut' And who told you he graduated, the VC's presentation at the Senate? How will that hold under adversary cross examination? What about the discovery powers you are going to give to SR to dig further into ABU and Dino, see what they have been able to unearth without discovery and behind the scene, now imagine them showing up at the registry office and demanding for records, results, etc or asking Dino to produce x,y,z that is relevant to their case. This is one big gamble ABU cannot afford, no matter which way it goes; ABU will come out of it tarnished within the international community e.g. as to how they permitted someone that failed a required course to graduate, the details of those carryovers will come to light and SR might stumble on other stuff that ABU would have want keep private about admissions, graduations, favoritism, etc. I truly don't see the upside for ABU here and they will prevail on Dino to knock it off and if he insist, they might not cooperate and if they start blocking SR from getting certain documents, etc, the case will be tossed. |
fallout87:It not going to happen Dino is not going make such a fool of himself. Without discovery powers, see the things SR is able to unearth and you thing ABU will want to open themselves up to an international scrutiny on how someone that failed a required course was able to graduate from their university? Plus, the VC have to go to New York for testimony and be subject to cross examination by the other side under the penalty of perjury. |
kizzyblazee:His suit in Nigeria is not only alleging the ABU case. Even if he restrict the US case to only ABU Dino will loose big time! For him to prevail, he must proof that, SR was false and malicious. So he have to fly ABU VC to testify in US and SR will have discovery rights. Even if it is ultimately decided that ABU VC was right, SR cannot be found to be malicious given the many conflicting stories out their e.g. Graduating without a required course, name not in ABU graduate websites, name not in convocation list, etc...when you apply the layman test to all these, it is reasonable for any to come to the same conclusion as SR without being malicious. The press have a strong constitutional right and freedom of expression in the US and that is SR's stronghold. You cannot muze that expression because you don't like it, or because it is bad press or even because it is offensive. |
Young03:Who dem epp, you? |
eph123:I understand your point, but you should know that we are follow-follow, we want to maintain accord with the world even when it is against our self interest. I felt you will be happy that the US have helped us in righting this and align it with our self interest, despite the adverse action of our political leaders. |
So people still dey fall for dis 'black paper dollar' notes and the chemical to wash them. With recent sophistication in fraudulent antics and methods, something tell me that; the world have enough fools (or slow learners) to keep these frauds going on forever. |
eph123:The truth is, the Paris Climate Change agreement is already dead, so it is meaningless if PMB sign it or not. US and China are the major signatory and two major polluters. The US under Trump have started chipping away at that agreement with Executive Orders reversing Obama's previous Executive Order to EPA to enact measures to meet the goals set in the agreement. Funding for even climate change research/study are being pulled and given to defense and military in the US as we speak. With the US undermining the agreement, China is going to pullout, as it will be economic suicidal to hold themselves to the high standards set in the agreement, when their co-major polluter and competition has pulled out. |
This guy is trying to overcompensate and too much for that matter, I think he is guilty. |
rexbuton:Based on the NYSC Act, graduation is a prerequisite for serving, a University's request, if at all there was any, cannot contravene the NYSC Act. |
I guess, "un-sentenced" here means, those with on-going trials 'as in going to court" vs those whose court cases has been finalized and has been sentenced, but are in different phases of appeal, where applicable. What about those arrested and have never have their day in court or show up one day for one hearing and never seen in court again? I doubt in those figures include people in this category or even in the prison 'population' count. In many states, thousands are behind bars for 7 to 10 years, some more than and counting; and are still praying for the day to be given the opportunity to stand before a judge. These people are usually very poor and less educated and in most cases their sentences would have been far less less than the amount of time they have spent so far in prison. |
So Saraki sorry NASS imported vehicle into the country and dodged paying duties on the imports? In what universe will they think that, shifting the burden from Saraki to NASS would be better? or is NASS exempted from paying custom duties? |
I think say, dem say as dollar price don cum down well well so, recession don comot bi that? Dem cum say, small time now prices of everything go cum down too? Where is CBN when we need dem? Abeg send some forex to various DISCOs, so they can buy spare parts, so that terrif go cum down like dollar. |
wirinet:You missed the point...are Nigerians living in Nigeria faring any better? Charity begins at home...these foreign countries are treating Nigerians within their borders the exact same way the Nigerian government and Nigerians treat their fellow Nigeria at home. I think they should stay over there at least, it is easier to justify the cruelty of strangers and foreign governments towards you than the same thing coming from your own government and people. The change we seek must start here in Nigeria. |
ehissi:Can you clarify what such need(s) might be and the merits those decisions might be based of? I can understand merit bases like; one been terribly sick and could not write an exam or been terribly poor and could not afford a course, I have not heard of any University board changing a fail in an elective or required course to a pass in such situations and graduate that particular student. Also, don't get me wrong most course especially the ones done from 200L and below are not elective or required courses for eventual graduation, also there are situations where e.g. you are only require to pass 2 elective courses and if you take 3 electives and failed one, you can still graduate. However, in this case; we are talking of a required course...as in, you are required to pass this course before you can graduate and you say the department can legally waive that? Don't get me wrong, they can illegally forge or manipulate the results, that we know. If this is possible, it also mean that the department can legally change the GPA at which a particular student gets a first class depending on 'needs'...you can see the sleepy slope? My point here is, all elective and required graduation course requirements are done at the departmental level and then approved by the Senate...once Senate approves it, the department cannot change them on their own accord...and definitely not for an individual. However, it is reasonable to agree that; if a very talented student did incredibly high in some advanced courses, some lower course requirements may be waived, but you still have to meet the total credit requirements to graduates, which means, you still have to complete other courses...but from Dino's school statement he presented, he was not even performing fairly in school, he barely made it out, so we know the talented student scenario enumerated above is not applicable. I could be wrong, but the most logical but illegal thing that might have happened here is that, his carry overs and un-attempted required course magically got a pass grade, which was then forwarded to the Senate along with other graduating students for approval. |
SmartchoicesNG:An HOD or a Lecturer can only correct a grade, when an error in marking or grade computation is discovered after Senate approval. An HOD or the Senate cannot magically turn a carryover into a pass grade. Neither can an HOD or the Senate waive a required or elective course selectively for one individual. What you have described only happen in glorified secondary schools. If HODs and Senate have the powers you just ascribed, the reputation and integrity of that school will be in the toilet. You wouldn't even want to attend or send or employe anyone from such school and tertiary institutions knows this. That is what honorary degrees are for i.e. for sales...these are on the shelves for the highest bidder, just point and name your price and if the University agrees, it is then yours. If your price is high enough, you can even get to make a speech during the graduation ceremony. The real culprits of this ABU saga and responses like yours are ABU graduates who worked hard for their degrees. Unguided and myopic comments like yours have called their hard earned degrees into questions in that, 'it can be fixed by the HOD or Senate'(aka bought); which could be sadly true in this case in ABU, but to insinuate that this is the norm is incorrect. |
Okuda:Not taking sides on this Dino certificate brouhaha, but it could be true he has not collected his certificate. Think of it, majority of people can go through life without that document. For more than ten years now, I have not collected mine, I have only collected transcripts (multiple times). Given the many schools around; most future entities would prefer to see you transcripts as that will give them a detail view of courses and performance, which will help them to compare with their expected standards. |
JennyOfOldstones:You forgot to include that, there was only one kind of dedication during Jesus' days in the temple and children were not prejudged and categorized on how and where they will be dedicated. No matter how you paint it...it is discrimination period! Even if these couples were wallowing in sins when they requested for the dedication, no man of God, who what to be Christlike, will treat the kids as second class kids...Jesus openly eat with sinners, lay his hands on little children even when his disciples attempted sending the kids away without prejudging how they came into existence. |
AgbenuAnna:WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! Nowadays so called christian can be so unchrist like without knowing it! Each individual is uniquely and independently made and will be judged by God. Sins of the parents cannot be imported to the child. Jesus performed kids dedications in the Bible..In Match 19:14, when his disciples try to prevent the little children from coming to him, Jesus said .."Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these...And he placed his hands on them and went on his way" He did not do it behind closed doors or the corner, it was right in the view of the public, where he was preaching. For God seek! Jesus came for the sinners not the righteous, even if harlots or practicing prostitutes bring their kids to church for dedication, the servants of God or Pastors representing that church should rejoice, accept them with open arms, place their hands on them like Jesus and bless them in the public to discriminate base on category is unchristlike period! To these set of Pastors, Jesus will say.."Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrite! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. If I am in the OP's shoes, I will discuss with my husband into taking our kids and leave to a place that do not prejudge us, but accepts us, like Jesus would. |
In high school physic class.... That atom is the smallest indivisible particle of an element. |
soberdrunk:Like you, I also believe that he know more than he is letting out, but unlike you I believe he is guilty. You can't just happened on a gun shot victim and the next thing, you are moving him across state line and it happens exactly when police were laying surveillance, it also happened that a police officer died on the same day of gunshot in Ado Ekiti, the very day you were moving your wound friend out of Ado Ekiti. I think, the full story were not be very far from something along the line of...He left school Ife to meet up with his friends at Ado Ekiti; they then went on robbery or some gang activity, so nefarious that, it attracted policemen and during gun battle that ensued, a police died of his injuries, while his friend survived his, but they somehow escaped, but the police lay surveillance on them while they were hiding and caught them, when they tried to move his friend across state lines for better care or to escape the pressure in Ado Ekiti as a result of the police intensified manhunt...I will say good job to the gallant officers. If the truth intent is to take the friend to Hospital, why move him from Ado Ekiti, Oyo State to Zillow in, Kware State? They were possibly running away from the long arm of the law or escaping to find secreted privately arranged care hidden from Police in Kware State. |
HAH:All your points are valid and that is how government works, why I am of the opinion that it is not sustainable is that, the government is allocating almost 100% of future foreign reserve increases that are converted to Naira to forex sector of the economy. Whereas foreign investors, debtors, real Naira value, etc is determined partly by the size of the Country's reserve. Bigger reserves attracts better credit ratings, trusts and reduces loan servicing fees and gives foreign investors more confidence, etc. There are better areas to put this money in the Nigeria economy that benefit the massses. |
Earth2Metahuman:I think I got it and we are on this same point, but what I am surprise is your faith in the current government to exclusively use almost 100% (or at least a huge majority) of excess foreign reverse above the current $30b to service Nigeria forex? I sincerely doubt if that is sustainable. Also it is the proper use of these money. Investing that money in infrastructure or using it to employ the ever growing jobless youths in Nigeria or paying workers, some who are owed almost 12months salary is a better use as these we help to spread the money deeper into the economy and revitalize it. |
straneur:This is throwing good money after bad one. It is a bad move that only produces short lived "reliefs" because it is unsustainable, we do not earned enough Forex to sustain this Christmas give away. Let's look at some hard numbers; from the above, it stated that CBN have provided about $1.5b since February and added another $180m on Monday. In Dec, 2016; Nigeria Forex reserved was $25.72b, it increase to $27.88b in Jan, 2017; a difference of $2.16b...and to $29.61 in February, a difference of $1.7b. Ask yourself a question, for how many months can the government keep pumping about $1.5b into the forex market, an amount equal to our monthly gain in foreign reserve? These Naira "gains" are artificial and on steroids, we do not have the infrastructure and GDP to sustain the continual liquidity pump into the forex market, tops give CBN 6 months and they will do about face and give up. |
Bants:There is nothing wrong if she had worn just the shorts or even just the boots or the tops...but she she is putting on the whole NYSC uniform top to bottom and such officially act as a corpse or causing others to believe same. Look at it from the angle of the police or the other armed forces, can a lady wear the uniform of any of these military forces in such a manner, official or otherwise? |
PetrePan:Beg to disagree. It is an official uniform recognized by laws in Nigeria. It is unprofessional and she can get into trouble by doing that. That is the same reason, a policewoman or a lady in any of the armed forces can wear their official uniforms in such manner. |

sowore is an i.diot .... Doesn't he know that an HoD reserves the right to adjust the results at the instance of departmental cum faculty board recommendations or at the insistence of the university senate?!!!
