the influx of refugees shouldn't be a problem cause they will be shared among the member states in Europe and also as far as I know refugees are not allowed to work... then refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Macedonia and Pakistan will be deported back to their countries ...only refugees from Syria can stay for a long time while others will be deported within a year

The problem with the refugees is not their number or their sharing employment slots with the locals. The real challenge is that these Arabs will most likely not want to integrate into the German or European way of life. They will want to keep doing stuff as if they are still in Syria. Once settled they may begin to protest the lack of Halal food or lack of minarets in the mosques. Should the German govt grant them citizenship or permanent residency they may begin to protest that their children cannot attend swimming lessons because they will only be wearing loose clothing and that is against their religious beliefs. These and many more are gonna definitely erupt.

I see how Arab Muslims sometimes protest in America or UK about societal practices simply because they go against Islam. They forget that in their own Arab lands, they would hardly allow non Muslims to express their own religiois beliefs or lack thereof.

Who kns anything abt legalisation of academic credentials from federal ministry of education nd how much it cost?

I really don't know about it but I know that there is an old thread here on NL for people going to study in Austria. In the thread, the issue of legalisation at Federal Ministries of Education and Foriegn Affairs were discussed extensively.

You can use google to search for it, but you can also visit the link below as a start:

ok, tnx a lot. I guess il just register for it.

Yeah just do so once and for all. If you prepare for about 1.5 months you will pass the TOEFL very well. For me I didn't use any of the prep books like Barrons etc because they contain too much jargon and are never straight to the point. The internet is filled with awesome resources..just do a google search of something like "Toefl Speaking Practice" or "toefl listening practice" etc and you will get so much help.

You are applying for a program starting next year October. You have enough time to take TOEFL and GRE or whatever standardized exam that is requested of you. Don't fear these exams. Be optimistic and you will get your desired score. Nothing beats preparation and optimism. You show a lot of zeal by gathering all info you need now. It is this zeal that will see you thru all the way to achieveing success. I also took my TOEFL in October last yr and had all my docs ready for the schools I applied to. I really don't like the idea of letter from school so I strongly encourage you to take TOEFL.

Good morning house @oga lmuhopeful please, when you applied at LMU for their m.sc program in geophysics, did you submit an english proficiency letter from your school or you wrote an english test?

Hello. I took TOEFL iBT. However LMU geophysics state that other proficiency documents, including letters from your school, will be decided on a case-by-case basis and may not necessarily be accepted.

On another note, I have seen your SOPs. I will revert to you soon.

Okay the ones I've seen so far are requesting for certificates, please can you list any University you know for BSC business related course, logistics, transport or supply chain management course that is taught entirely in English and tuition free both for bsc and msc.

Danke bruder

It is absolutely impossible for anyone here to go thru the stress of listing schools that offer particular courses for you. That is YOUR OWN JOB! Here we offer suggestions, advice and guides but we don't do the work of others for them.

Kindly visit www.daad.de/en . As far as I know from DAAD you can filter your search based on numerous criteria and I believe language of teaching would be amongst these filters. Better still just enter your query into google and read thru the different results till you find what you want.

You can say what you like, just to calm your nerves and let you know that I am certain, I was directed all through by a staff in Bremen, my uncles's neighbour in germany. He has said this just as I did, but honourableseyi pointed out that this may not be true for bsc and I agree. My brother it is not misleading.

This your comment is seriously demoralising. How can you choose to make a very hasty generalisation about this issue just because of "a staff at Bremen". Is Bremen Munich? Is Bremen Aachen? Is Bremen Stuttgart? No. As should already be clear to someone like you who has passed thru the whole application process, every university has different requirements and even departments within the same university many times have different requirements. Logically you shouldn't come here to generalise crap like this.

I just hope that the guy you are advising would return to read HonorableSeyi's and Williamso's comments

Please those that have learn German help me out, I have begin to learn German on my own using the tactics that I used to learn French, but I find out that German is very difficult to learn, Reason is because German language has different word that has the same meaning unlike in English, like example in English, the word "look" is used as look in any context e.g come and look at it, that your look is bad, in German the a word have different words meaning the same thing but depending on the context it is been used eg look have words like: Guck mall,Blick, sieh, augenaufechlag etc, come=gekommen, eingekehrt, kommen, Food=Essen, kost, speise, nahrung, lebesmittel while in english words like down is down, please how can I differentiate and know when to use a particular word for a context, e.g I want the marriage. marriage =ehe, heir at,vermahlung, trauung, which word will I use as marriage in this sentence also is there English-German dictionary.

You are getting it wrong. In English, there are also multiple synonyms for the same word. I may not be able to recall examples right now but I know they are. When learning a new language understand that it takes time to absorb vocabulary and so don't rush yourself with this. Even in English, there are some words that you only ever heard for the first time at maybe age 17. So with this new language you have to be patient.

My advice is this: focus on learning the German grammar including topics like the pronouns and how the verbs are declined with each pronoun and also the exceptional verbs that don't follow the predefined pattern of declension. Dont ask questions like why do we say "brauchen, er bracuht" but then we say "helfen, er hilft". Asking such questions is like asking that why do we say "went" as the past tense of "go". We don't know why we say these things: we just met the language that way. I noticed a few people at the A1 course I attended last month didn't make much progress because instead of focusing on the learning they were asking such questions.

As you learn grammar daily, endeavor to memorise about ten words daily. And try to form playful sentences with these words based on the grammar you learnt. For example if you learn the modal verb "wollen", you can form a sentence like "Ich will meine Eltern anrufen" or "Du willst deine Wohnung aufraumen". Sorry I cant do the Umlaut on aufraumen cheesy .

With every passing day you will get better with the grammar and your vocabulary base will increase. Along the line you will then begin to encounter new words that have the same English meanings as those words you learnt earlier. It is at this stage that synonyms come into play. It is very difficult if you think you can just start memorising synonyms altogether. Even as an English speaker, you didn't learm synonyms all at once apart from the basic antonyms amd synonyms lessons in primary and JSS and even that took you a few years. It will take time so you have to understand that.

Once you have picked up sufficient vocabs (say 500 words) you cam them download level A1 story books and read to further improve your reading skills and learn one or two extra words. You can also add a few A1 listening mp3s to the mix.

Start with this and let is see how far you go. All the best

P.S. I didnt see any NLer today or perhaps coz I didn't really talk much to people inside the embassy today.

Thank you so much. This is so helpful.I already informed my school and they weren't certain about contacting the Foreigners office. They only accepted to move my enrollment deadline to 6th of November. Thanks once again

It is nice that your school is willing to shift the enrolment deadline.

However if possible, have them confirm it to you in writing and not just phone call. For example, LMU international office sent a pdf circular on their letterhead stating that enrolment has been extended to October ending. But if they dont have this kinda stuff and they have told you already that your deadline is November 6 then don't disturb them.

Dear Sir,

your visa application has been received. Please note that in order for us to assess your application, please submit your Bachelor’s degree as an original as well as a copy. You are welcome to submit your documents via courier service or to drop them at the gate on workdays between 8 and 11 am.

Bro. Someone has earlier mentioned on this thread that the embassy do not accept laminated originals. However when I went to certify my documents, this same Chinese looking lady collected my laminated secondary school testimonial and a copy and certified it alongside my other docs. So this means we are not yet certain of the real problem in your own case.

As regards your case now, I suggest that you call the embassy quoting your visa application number and tell them that you have submitted the original of the certificate but in a laminated form. On the phone the embassy official will then perhaps be able to tell you whether it is the lamination that is the problem or if it js just an error from their end.

If the lamination is the problem, then you could ask them if its possible to take your certificate back amd remove the lamination (but this may damage it or they may not even give it to you now).

Alternatively you could visit your university asap and work around with the students record or HOD or Dean (whichever works fastest) to obtain a document on letterhead that states that you have fulfilled all the requirements to be awarded a Bachelors degree, signed and stamped. You can then take this to the embassy. However before you do this, I advice that you inform the embassy so that they can know what to expect from you

Let us know how it goes.

Hello house,I had my interview on Friday. The chinco German lady was the one who interviewed me.She asked if I have funded,I told her I was waiting for the bank confirmation that my account has being debited(Which is true).A friend of mine was interviewed the same day but got an email from the embassy today to fund his account.I didn't get any email from the embassy to fund my account.Could it be because I told the VO that I was waiting for the confirmation from the Deutsche Bank or what?

Dont worry about these kinds of stuffs (tho I know it may be hard not to). On this thread and off it we have seen people that received their visas even tho the embassy didnt mail them to fund. The embassy is usually always overloaded with work and they sometimes overlook these things unknowingly. Wait a bit. It may come in later today or during the week. Once you have funded and have received an alert then you can send to them. If they still don't send you notification to fund then you can contact them thru their online form or calling them. All the best.

I've called the school, the lady dat picked said its a matter for the embassy not school.

Does anyone here have the invoice from the consulate showing the cost breakdown?

Guy, I have visited the Bremen page and have seen a page that shows a breakdown:

Do you have another admission? If yes you can use this other admission to pay your forn A on the condition that this other school has a breakdown.

Well, mistake made...

Pleas house, what are your suggestions and the way forward?

Is it possible you get a refund? If yes then I suggest you do so and apply for this A1 course starting in September at Goethe Lagos. By this time next year you may have reached B1. Honestly there are no shortcuts to this. Like Williamso suggested, how many of us can score higher than 6.5 band on IELTS inspite of the fact that English is taught to us from birth. As you are learning, keep saving/hustling for your blocked acct money. Perhaps with a high level of zeal and motivation you could achieve your dreams of studying in Germany by summer 2017.

Also wait to hear the suggestions of other members of the thread

I understand you perfectly brother, my plan is not to just arrange a sponsor and then start huzzling in germany.... As a matter of fact, I paid almost half a million for the language class and paid for my hostel, I just don't have up to 8k euro to open the blocked account... Am not going there to become a tyrant, am going there to study... Looked for loans also buh the interest rate are killing..... So I just need someone to pose as my sponsor while I sort myself and start my life with what I have or get a loan to open the said blocked account and then return with viable interest rate... No issues

Bro. .I dont know you and I also have no authority over you, but I must sincerely say that I am against your plan. It is totally ill-planned and not thoroughly thought through. Sometimes we let our excitement and zeal get the better part of our judgement and we jump into wrong decisions. Now you have paid around 500k to learn German and you will still hustle for 8040€ for your living for one year. If you stayed in Nigeria and attended Goethe here, you wouldn't spend up to that and your living expenses would be nowhere near 8040.

Now the embassy may even reject your visa application coz they will tell you that you can learn the language here without expending resources abroad. I just hope your language school can refund your cash if it goes awry. That 500k could have been used to contribute to your blocked acct financing. I see this as a totally, completely wrong decision. Even when you have the 8040€ complete, you still need some 200€ minimum to take along with you on your travel before you access the blocked acct..coupled with flight and logistics money etc. Besides the German govt will increase the BAFOG minimum from 8040.

I really don't believe in this your plan. But that's just me: you may eventually run your show successfully irrespective of whay I think.
BTW..did you say you have been admitted to the uni already?

IELTS gain ground pass TOEFL. Your option is vast with IELTS whilst with TOEFL, you only can join a few universities. It's the most preferred language proficiency cert through the whole of EUROPE, Australasia and Canada. A few american universities do accept it but most of them prefer TOEFL as it's governed by an American body. IELTS = British/Australia TOEFL=American.

HTH

Sorry but this isnt totally accurate. Apart from the UK which seemed to place a ban of TOEFL over their IELTS, no other country rejects TOEFL scores. Or do you have proof to the contrary?
