Hi guys. What if my spouse does not have primary school certificate? Can she go to the embassy with only her secondary school and university certificates?

If I have to guess I'd say she was SS. But I'm not sure. I wish her family and friends the strength to bear the loss.

What health issue did she have?

Thanks for this beneficial info.

I just applied for a family reunion visa appointment for my wife and I know it takes up to one year.

If my wife gives birth to our child before the appointment, do we need to make a new visa appointment for the child? Or is it that underage children don't need a visa and can simply accompany their mother?

Hi guys. I checked the embassy website and I don't see any available appointments for Schengen visa interview. Is there any trick to find an appointment date? Or is there a particular time of the day that I have to check in order to find? Thanks in advance

were you invited by someone you just wan go enjoy

Yes it's because of an invite. I always felt that they will be sceptical about granting the visa if one doesn't have a job to return to in Naija because they may feel that it's just a way to japa

Hello. Is it possible for someone who is unemployed to apply for Schengen visa or visa to visit family and friends? I'm asking because there's a section where they ask people to submit letter from employer. So what would happen for someone who is unemployed? Thank you
Religion / Joy Without Religion: How To Be Happy Without Religious Belief[atheism] by lmuhopeful: 10:54am On Aug 22, 2020
Hello all,

I've been an atheist for over 10 years and growing up in Nigeria, I spent the early part of my atheism in a serious depression because I couldn't come out to tell anyone how I felt. As a devoted Muslim, I had to lie and pretend to everyone that I was still one, even though I had changed. I had also done an Islamic marriage at the time(I was only 19) which had to be annulled after I publicly announced my "conversion" to atheism. For a while now I've been pondering on the philosophy of happiness/peace of mind and how religion falsely claims to have monopoly over this feeling. I remember the Quran verses that talk about how the unbelievers are never at rest. But these things are false.

Joy exists outside religion. In fact, this type of joy is the sweetest because it doesn't come at the expense of putting aside your rationality. As a Muslim, I couldn't understand why Allah would burn devoted Christians in hell for eternity; these people were obviously good people whose only crime was to be born into the Christian religion. How unfair. I knew that many of us justify wrong and outright evil teachings just because our religious books say so. Anyone willing to find happiness in religion has to suspend their reasoning and rationality. As an atheist now, I don't have to do that. I'm able to use my reasoning as well as empathy for my fellow man to decide what's good or bad.

Few years ago, I would debate and argue with Christians and Muslims but now, I've evolved beyond that stage. Such arguments are usually pointless; neither of us are ever able to reason with the other. What often happens is that the atheist checkmates the religious person and provides contradictions in the religion and the religious person says "yeah you're right. But let me just keep believing". So I don't see a value in this.

To keep the long story short, I wrote a book on the topic of happiness outside religion. It's short and direct. A mentor of mine has the following to say about the book:

"It is  a well written book, lucid and reflecting the authentic experience of an enterprising young Nigerian, who was brought up under the baneful influence of religion. I sincerely hope the book reaches a very wide audience, especially the Nigerian (and African) youth, who are struggling to jettison the superstitions with which they were brainwashed in their formative years. More grease to your elbow!  - Gilbert Alabi Diche, FRGS."

I've attached the table of content as well as the cover page of the book. If you're in Nigeria, you can get an e-book copy on Okada Books for only 1000 Naira. And if you're abroad, it can be purchased both as an ebook and paperback on Amazon.

Okada Books: https://okadabooks.com/book/about/detail/36315

Amazon: https://www.amazon.de/Ayo-Deji-ebook/dp/B08G8VVGXS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Joy+without+religion&qid=1598089743&sr=8-1

Send me a message if you face any challenges with purchasing the book. Thanks

Don't mind him .

Most states in Germany will give you 2years resident permit straight so you won't have block for the second year.

But in case your state only give 1year , you will be require to produce block confirmation for the second year

Actually if you're given only a 1 year residence permit, then for your second year you can typically show them proof of sustenance in terms of a work contract. So if you show them you have a job that can pay you around the monthly blocked account money, you should be fine. It's not hard to find a restaurant or cleaning job that fulfills this requirement

Hi! Thanks so much for this, will definitely look at your channel & I am glad to finally find a person from Munich. How is it there in Munich? And how's LMU? I've heard so much about it. I got admission to start studies there this winter and I have cold feet already. It would be great if we could connect. Thanks in advance.

Sure you can send me an email. Cheers

Bros, you have not been contributing naa. Only for you to come here and drop your channel to increase viewrship and get paid for it. Why naaa

Give us info here first so we know if its worth it going to your channel.

What you don't realize is that we all contribute in different ways. I personally work with Eke40seven and do a lot for the Nigerian students who are currently living in Munich but of course you don't know that.

Yes I would like to have views on my channel but more importantly I want to help the general Nigerian population of students who want to study in Germany. My schedule doesn't allow me to drop by here often but I see that some people are already doing a good job of helping out on here. I'm creating videos as my own way of helping out. If you think I'm trying to use you guys for views or to make money then you're mistaken.

Perhaps if you move to Munich, you would also benefit from the things that I and some others are doing for the Nigerian student population here.

You shouldn't automatically assume that anyone who offers to help is trying to take advantage of you. Peace

Hi guys. I did my MSc at LMU Munich and am also currently doing a PhD there. I've lived in Germany for about 4 years now. I decided to contribute to the whole discussion on studying and living abroad for Nigerians alongside other topics by opening a YouTube channel.

Currently I've uploaded 4 videos. 2 videos on why Germany is a good destination as well as how to apply to German universities and 2 other videos on different topics. I would appreciate if you guys checked out the channel, watched the videos and subscribed.

I'd appreciate it even more if you tell me the kind of content you would like to see as a Nigerian planning on moving to Germany. I'd be glad to make content that you all find useful. Thanks

Career / Re: N500k Job Or Graduate Assistant In A Federal University In Nigeria by lmuhopeful: 12:49pm On Apr 12, 2019
Nwaada:
Hello All,

I finished university in 2014, finished serving in 2015. I’d gone back to my alma mater to apply for Graduate assistant position as I made a first class. They kept going back and forth until I took another offer(not lecturing) after few months of waiting.

I just got an offer to join this same University today as a graduate assistant.

I make roughly 500k at my current work place. I also love lecturing but would want to go back after I have made money.

Has anyone been in this type of situation?
What would you do?

Bro/Sis, I beg you in the name of whatever you worship, do not take the lecturing job. On the financial side, you will never get paid enough. You will earn something that is likely 5 times less than your current salary. There are no extra perks to compensate the low salary. Your salary will sometimes be delayed. You are used to a particular lifestyle right now and all that will have to end when you take the lecturing job.

On an intellectual note, you seem like a smart person considering you managed to get a first class. If you are so passionate abbout lecturing, I suggest you apply for an MSc/Phd in USA, Canada, Australia or somewhere in Europe. During your Phd you will teach undergraduate and MSc classes like I currently do. After the PhD, if you have published good work, you will be able to search for tenure-track positions at universities worldwide. Universities where you will be paid healthily. Universities where you will have access to numerous government research grants. You will recruit your own PhD students and you will mentor and lecture undergraduates and graduates alike. All these you can never do in Nigeria.

At the end of it all, if you end up as a lecturer in Nigria, you will have to kiss the asses of your superiors just to get anything done, you will have no access to funding, you will likely never publish any useful research work and you won't earn enough money. Money is important.

Please stay at your job and move abroad to obtain a PhD if you are so passionate about lecturing. If for any reason you lecture in Nigeria, it should be at those specialized postgraduate institutes like the AUST in Abuja or somewhere like that. Not any fucking federal university. Good luck

Okay, based on popular request, to follow the tradition here, i will like to invite our Bosses to the podium for this interview....

I use this opportunity to invite, oye11, victz, Hollaytan, LMUhopeful, Cahnellven, etc... All the other bosses that i have forgotten their moniker, you are all invited.

1. Please, introduce yourself, course, school and city. (if applicable)

My name is Ayodeji studying Geophysics at LMU Muenchen.

2. How does German educational system differ from the system you were used to?

The German system is quite more challenging. To score a 1.0(highest grade) you usually need 95% and above and with 75% or so, you'll be around 2.3 or 2.7. The professors are really smart and mostly want the best for you. I love that I can drink beer in my class. I don't know about others oo smiley

3. What academic challenge(s) did you face or are you facing currently and how are/did you tackling/tackle them?

I faced a few challenges as I had a BSc in Electrical Engineering and now studying geophysics msc. I took advantage of the office hours of the professors and they taught me a lot personally.

3. What is your (academic) advise to prospective Nigerian student coming over to study?(summarized)

You need to understand why you want to come here. It's not about just leaving Nigeria or doing an MSc. If one just needs an MSc the UK may be better as it's easy to pass there. It's very hard to succeed here and a lot of hard work is needed. Example, 20 students from the previous set of my masters started the program and only 4 graduated. The remaining 16 were either expelled due to bad grades or left coz it was difficult. So I advice to be fully sure of your abilities and not see a German msc admission as a ticket out of Naija.

4. Do your school have a size-able number of international students and what is the state of interaction like with them?

The LMU is very international. I don't attend university events so I don't know about interacting with them. I however meet many friendly students daily and interact with them.

5. Did you find it difficult integrating into the society and how were you able to overcome it if you had?

It's easy to integrate here. Come with an open mind and no stereotypes. Talk freely with people as you would in Nigeria. It's really simple: if a person wants to talk or hang out with you they will. If not, move ahead.

6. In your opinion, do you think a hard working Nigerian student with a particular result can maintain his/her academic performance in Germany with the same efforts? A scale will be appreciated, I know time is not the only or the best measure of hard work but For instance, A spends 6 hours of study everyday in Nigeria, GPA=4 ". ". ". ". ". ". ". in Germany GPA=?

If you work hard in Nigeria you'll succeed here. It's not easy to convert these things into numbers. Work as hard as you can and take advantage of the library, tutor hours etc.

7. Like in any society, there are distractions or factors that reduces performance, what are the major culprits in Germany for an unenlightened
Nigerian JJC?

I don't know. I party and all but in moderation. Moderation is key.

8. Most of the male or even females at one time or the other would have fantasized having a German Prince or princess, what are their chances? Do the shy Germans gals take to Nigerians? Can Painpills, stharrie, etc get their prince/princess charming easily?

With relationships, keep an open mind. You don't necessarily need a German to be happy in a relationship. You could meet a Polish lady or guy, or Russian or Thai or Mexican. There's almost every nationality represented here so go with an open mind and find someone or people you're attracted to irrespective of nationality.

9. List 5 most important items an intending new comer should bring along to Germany.

Don't bring an expensive jacket. It's cheaper to buy good jackets and winter shoes here. Nothing I can think of. Maybe Rothmans and Benson(I haven't found those here smiley)

10. Give 5 most important tip to surviving in Germany, jobs and all.

1) Study hard
2) Hustle. The money is good
3) Guys, talk to women here. You'd be surprised how receptive many of them are
4) Be calm and plan for the future. The msc isn't the end of it all
5) Party, drink, booze, enjoy your life. This is the only life we got.

11 on a scale of 1-10 rate your city in terms of hustle and the closest best place in terms of jobs to your city

10

12. Just give your opinion on these claims below by indicating with an Agree (A), Neutral (N) or Disagree (D)

a. Germans are cold
D

b. They hate late coming
N
c. They are racist
A few
D. They don't have time for chitchat
D
E. They are introverts
D
F. They love beer
A

Can someone please help me with the meaning. It seems as though I have lost my English interpretation skills.

I asked if i would be issued a joint certificate or if the certificate will bear the name of the University where i will spend the first semester and this was the reply i got.

You will be matriculated and receive a certificate from ISARA-Lyon and the university where you spend your semester 1. The MSc certificate bears the name of the delivering institutions (Kassel, Fulda, Ghent, Cluj-napoca, ISARA) and each institution delivers its national MSc degree

Please note that this is a joint Erasmus degree program.

Please help, I chose USAMV, Cluj, Romania as Semester 1 and now i'm scared of receiving a Romanian degree

Don't be scared; your degree will show the names of all the schools you studied at. Since it's Erasmus. I expect that you'll also get a certificate from each school which means a total of 5 or 6 certificates for only you grin

Anyone studying in Munich, please. Does the alien office in Munich give u the 2-year visa complete from the start of your programme, or only 1 year and then have u re-apply for extension?

They give the two year residence permit. Everyone I know and have met received the 2-year permit. Munich is one of the cities that gives two years straight. It may be different if one is in another city in Bavaria(e.g. Ebersberg or even Freising)

Congrats and thanks for sharing. That your school and course is one of the best in the world. However, I wish you majored in Oil and Gas. Exxon Mobil dosent joke with Geophysicits.

It's possible for us at LMU to work in oil and gas because we study the whole earth from the near-surface where oil is located up to the Earth's core(the deepest part of the Earth) and oil companies regard geophysics degrees equally. Right now I'm not decided on where to focus my career but I'll keep the oil in mind wink . Thanks for the suggestion
