While I don't see the sense in a man playing the kind of baiting games little girls play, I must say the comments blaming the man make me wonder. I know we are all not expected to have the same point of view, but how can someone say something like "she fell because he used the same lines he caught her with" or something along those lines. So anybody who gets lucky and uses the same "toasting technique" will surely get between her legs? Well only a female can come up with such silly line of reasoning.

You really cannot fault Chelsea for playing that way. That's the only way to get a favorable result against Barca. Rather fault the Barca attackers for being so wasteful. Trust me, had Barca netted just 3 out of the 6 good chances they had in London, Chelsea's tactic would've been undone and they'd be forced to go on the offensive to score; then it'd be an open game.

I thought about that as well, but commonsense should tell you it's a mistake (they posted EST times) since week day games (apart from holidays) cannot be played that early. Today is obviously not a weekend day or public holiday. The funny thing was the correct time was on the site even as at the moment I responded because I did check.

usbcable: and you just said Madrid dont know how to defend so how do yoi expect him to leave his defence line succept to onslaught from BM attack.
And that is exactly my point. He went on the defensive yet it didn't stop Bayern Munchen from having a clear cut opening which Gomez failed to convert. For a team like Madrid who don't know how to defend, they best attack and hope to score more than the opponent. Mourinho is not the right man and I think Di Stefano and several other greats agree with me.

David Alaba will do just fine; and he can also play mid-field (just the kind of player Barca likes). If only Bayern Munchen will let him go.

1. Di Matteo said:
“History tells us that it’s difficult to replicate the culture of a club into a different club.

“So he might be the first to do it but if you look back at the history of football it’s proven very difficult to do it.”
I am not sure Di Matteo knows what he's talking about here. Sorry to state the obvious, but the football culture/philosophy of Ajax (Total Football) was successfully cultivated and replicated in Barcelona by none other than Johan Cruyff. The transfer will be successful as long as the transfer agent is an embodiment of the philosophy as Cruyff was, and there is a youth academy to serve as a buffer and provide a stream of young talent especially to freely mix with seasoned imports who fit into this culture.

AjanleKoko: Actually I think Madrid were attack-minded in that game.
But Bayern played well in the middle, and moved the ball quickly into Madrid's third. More potent finishing, and a more decisive final ball from Bayern, and we would not have even seen penalties.

That's how I saw it that night.
You are talking about the 1st 15 mins; I'm talking about the last 15 mins when his defensive instincts kicked in and it would've even proven ineffective had Gomez not dilly-dallied. It's been proven time and again that Madrid don't know how to defend.

Dude the way a coach thinks shows whether he's attack minded or defensive. And if he's ambivalent it would also show. No ambivalent coach would rather try the "safe" approach of defending when you have shown you can attack and score having scored 2 quick goals in 15 mins. The defensive minded coach thinks "hey if these guys score then I have to score 2"; the attack minded coach thinks "if I score 1 then they have to score and if that happens I can score 1 more."
You added that part later but i'll respond to it.

firstly, I never said he was attack minded but to say he is ultra defensive is a complete falsehood. He is pragmatic, he needs to go all out he does, when he needs to park the bus, he does. fact is, Bayern were the better side in both legs so they dominated possession and most of the play. Real' issue was that everytime they got the ball they rushed it forward because they werent playing well enough to keep possession of the ball.

Anything else?
Oh, Athletic Bilbao just beat Sporting Lisbon under similar circumstances. The difference was, Bielsa was not "pragmatic". He went for the goal and they won 3-1 and are in the final of the Europa Cup. That's the difference between an attack minded manager and a defensive minded one - one has won, the other hoped to win in penalties even without preparation.

So who is the regular LB who plays when Abidal is unavailable then?
LOL. You don't know the meaning of a regular do you? Do you see the contradiction in your question? A REGULAR will not wait for Abidal to be unavailable to play. And in case you didn't know, Puyol himself had been out for quite a number of games (do I need to be telling you this?). In any case Adriano is not a regular and Puyol will be preferred to him in that position.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: The Galacticos (Real Madrid Fans Only) by logica(m): 8:13pm On Apr 26, 2012
See I won't even bother arguing with you on that as you have no clue. Adriano is not a regular.

Even the semi-final loss against Bayern Munchen showed how ultra-defensive he is. He's scared of a goal from Bayern and had to defend rather than go find a goal in the latter part of the 2nd half. Even with that Bayern had a chance to put the game to sleep.
You had no response to this? Or why would an attack minded manager decide not to go for goal, but rather defend even obviously without having prepared for penalties judging from his players' wayward shots?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: The Galacticos (Real Madrid Fans Only) by logica(m): 8:02pm On Apr 26, 2012
Dude your salvage job failed because you don't even know who plays Abidal's position when he's unavailable. FYI, when Abidal is not available, PUYOL goes to that position and Mascherano pairs Pique. The same for if Dani Alves was out (which was the position where Puyol started his career).

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: The Galacticos (Real Madrid Fans Only) by logica(m):
When did Adriano become a regular? I don't expect you to understand what difference resting ATTACKING players in a game you need to win to stay close to Real Madrid means. He's scoring goals with Real, how many did he score with Inter? Pep will definitely score 50% more than him given the same squad. I'll just keep it short.

Even the semi-final loss against Bayern Munchen showed how ultra-defensive he is. He's scared of a goal from Bayern and had to defend rather than go find a goal in the latter part of the 2nd half. Even with that Bayern had a chance to put the game to sleep.

People listened to me when I said the calendar had to be adjusted in these circumstances in Italy, and it made me happy."
I noticed the part in red. Keep on making noise and expect everybody to make you happy like some spoiled brat.

Barcelona rested players because they had an eye on the clash with Chelsea; and they lost at home. Granted, Guardiola's gamble didn't pay off as Barca lost to Chelsea but it was a good gamble because he knew even if he won, 1 point was still not enough to overtake Real Madrid and win the La Liga title. So why didn't the "tactically brilliant" noisemaker rest any players? The only player he basically rested was Marcelo because Coentrao is a better defender and he wanted to defend against Barca. He could've have rested his whole squad if he wanted to, but he didn't because he chose the match that was more important to him - against Barca. You can't eat your cake and have it.

I will advise Real to break the bank and go for Bielsa (the current Athletic Bilbao manager). I believe he can make better use of the potent attack in the arsenal of Real Madrid rather than this ultra-defensive loser (the main reason Barca picked Guardiola over him). With Bielsa, I might even begin to like Real Madrid again.

usbcable: "I think it's difficult for any team to reach the semifinals two straight campaigns and it's also difficult for a coach to reach them six times in eight years. We deserved to win because both games were tight. It is more difficult to play this match when you're still in the fight to win the league title than when you're not. I remember the semifinals I lost with Chelsea against Liverpool. They faced Fulham in the previous clash with their reserve players, while we used our main men in our weekend clash and ended up suffering from that."

"It's our fault because we would have used different players in our previous game if we weren't fighting to win the league title. My men gave a fantastic performance. It is difficult to overcome a 2-1 result. They knew they couldn't make any mistakes and felt great pressure. They were also exhausted in the penalty shootout. Together, both sides missed five penalties. Only those who shoot miss. I don't miss because I don't shoot them. Those who miss have balls and aren't selfish. They do their best for the team. I am incredibly proud of my men."

"Everyone makes mistakes. Superhumans only exist in the movies. These men are the best at their level, but people criticise them when they miss a shot. These critics are like people who get exhausted by climbing two flights of stairs and badly need a lift. My men ran like animals despite the pressure and missed in the final stretch, but what do you expect them to do? Would you rather see them die or see Bayern drawing the match? They played to the limit. I'm not here to make excuses, especially for our opponent. Teams that win two or three titles in one season achieve something incredible, but it is very difficult to reach the semifinals in two consecutive campaigns."

"The final will be disputed between the fifth team in the Premier League and the runners-up in the Bundesliga, and both used their reserve players this weekend, while Real Madrid and Barcelona faced each other in the most important match of the season in the Spanish league. People listened to me when I said the calendar had to be adjusted in these circumstances in Italy, and it made me happy. I don't have that power or enjoy such respect for my opinions here in Spain. We've started the most important month of the season with mid-week games and it's resulted in yesterday's and tonight's results. Bayern won and were luckier than us."

"The squad feels proud. The players know they have nothing to be sorry for. I've told them to go home to their wives and girlfriends and not hide because they have nothing to be ashamed about. I will absolutely try to win this title again with this team. I want to win with these players. It was important for the club and for us to win the Copa del Rey last season. We need six points to win the league and it would be fantastic to do so. This team has great room for improvement and so does the club. Clubs have to adapt to the times. If they believe I can continue to add to the team by staying on, and my players believe so too, then I feel I will stay."

"I feel the pressure of knowing my players are subjected to great pressure. I currently enjoy the joy of others more than my own, and the same goes during bad times. That's why this hurts. These players have worked very hard. There are four games left in the season and we have to take the six points we need like we've done till now: on our own. We worked hard and fought mightily. We will have had a good season if we win the league title and it will allow my men to feel they've done a good job. We will be here fighting for the Champions League again next season."

"The final will be a good match and I would like Chelsea to win, but I have great respect for Bayern Munchen. Chelsea were heroic yesterday and I know some people believe they are the lords of the game and therefore entitled to criticise Chelsea or Inter Milan's victory two years ago. I know the Blues behaved like heroes. Chelsea deserve it and Bayern are there too."

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by logica(m):
It's funny that all it took to score 2 goals against Barca was the combination of Lampard and Ramires. Barca always has problems dealing with fast players (Arsenal's Walcott comes to mind). With that considered it's then obvious that unlike his opponents who study Barca, Pep does not study and prepare for the opposition (arrogance or just being inexperienced?).

The goal Chelsea scored in London started with a pass from Lampard to Ramires. Now in Barcelona, Ramires simply passes to Lampard and makes a run; and he received the pass through the statuesque defense line? Just a 2-man pass combination? No alarm bells went off as soon as Ramires made the run? Even I watching, alarm bells went off in my head as soon as Mascherano slipped as he challenged Lampard.

Messi messed up because there was too much pressure and dependence on him, but the defense messed up because they were not prepped by Pep (I am assuming they were not prepped as that's the only reason they could not preemptively spot danger).
