1. The Quran talks of the heavens and the earth coming from a singularity, Whether you choose to interpret that as the big bang or not is open to debate. But the Quran does say unambigious things that couldn't have been known at the time of revelation.

for instance:

WE MADE EVERY LIVING THING FROM WATER? WILL THEY NOT BELIEVE? [21:30]

80% of the cytoplasm (basic cell material) of a standard animal cell is water. how does the prophet know that without microscopes... In the deserts
of Arabia, the last thing someone would have guessed is that all life came from water.

It also says:

IT IS HE WHO CREATED NIGHT AND DAY, THE SUN AND THE MOON, EACH FLOATING IN ITS ORBIT. [21:33]

A few decades ago, this would have been considered wrong but we know now that the sun and the moon have their own orbits....

DARKNESS OUT IN A DEEP OCEAN WHICH IS COVERED BY WAVES, ABOVE WHICH ARE WAVES, ABOVE WHICH ARE CLOUDS, LAYERS OF DARKNESS, ONE UPON THE OTHER. WHEN ONE PUTS OUT HIS HAND [THEREIN], HE CAN HARDLY SEE IT. THOSE GOD GIVES NO LIGHT TO, THEY HAVE NO LIGHT. [24:40]

The Quran mentions darkness in a deep ocean above which are waves,above which are waves, then clouds above that. This description is not only remarkable because it describes the internal waves in the ocean, but also because it describes darkness deep in the ocean. A human being can dive no more than 70 metres without breathing equipment. How did he obtain that kind of knowledge in the desert?..

There are no ambiguities in these statements... It is straight forward....

2. Man was created from an essence of clay: the basic materials used in the creation of man are from the earth. He was created for the earth. He did spend some time in paradise before coming to earth. Belief in this is posterior to the divinity of the Quran. I am more than convinced of the divinity of the Quran from the precision of the language, the word choice, everything. Believing that man lived in paradise before coming to earth is easy when i am convinced about the divinity of the book.

3. This is stupid.. The big bang is not a cause by itself, what instigated the big bang? The big bang is only an effect.... The cause of that effect is what we refer as God... At some point the universe was basically non-existent...

4. Shallow statement.... The Quran is for the guidance of humanity.. that is its purpose

5. (again?) When the Quran was revealed, slavery was in wide practice throughout the Arab World, thus, it would have been impractical and detrimental to place an immediate ban on the slave trade, forcing all slaves into unemployment/poverty. The Quran uses a better psychological approach to win people’s hearts in the struggle against slavery and all forms of discrimination by placing a strong emphasis on human dignity and equality and encouraging the freeing of slaves:

Did we not show him the two paths? He should choose the difficult path. Which one is the difficult path? The freeing of slaves. Feeding, during the time of hardship... [90:10-14]

Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west. Righteous are those who believe in God, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveller, the beggars, and to free the slaves... [2:177]

The Quran lists the penalty for various misdemeanours as freeing of slaves, see 4:92, 5:89, 58:3. It also implies distribution of community/collective charities would contribute towards freeing of slaves:

The charities are to go to the poor, and the needy, and those who work to collect them, and those whose hearts have been united, and to free the slaves, and those in debt, and in the cause of God, and the traveller. A duty from God, and God is Knowledgeable, Wise. [9:60]

The only method mentioned in The Quran for gaining captives (more correctly termed 'prisoners of war', not slaves) is during warfare, after which they must be released or ransomed. Keeping them is not an option:

Therefore, if you encounter those who deny the truth (in warfare), then bring about the captives until when you have subdued/overcome them, then strengthen the bind. Then after either grace/favour or ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. That, and had God willed, surely He would have gained victory Himself from them, but He tests some of you with others. And those who get killed in the cause of God, He will never let their deeds be put to waste. [47:4]


The Quran only talks about freeing slaves not capturing them....

1) The Quran is not scientific. Man was not created. Evolution. Man evolved from other life forms.

2) The Quran is not divine. A book that could not define slavery as a sin but condemns stealing.

3) Allah can not be the Merciful (Al Rahim) and at the same time be the Inflictor (Ad-dar)

4) Allah does not exist. There is no physical evidence for him. We can only guess. Guessing is saying that Allah is the cause of the big bang with no emprical evidence.

5) Even a child would know that many animals are made up of water. What is blood if not water? Allah is called Allah the healer. What sickness has he healed? Why do we need doctors then?

“We sent down in the Quran that which is a cure and mercy for the faithful”. (17:82)

“Say: For those who have faith, it (Quran) is a guidance and healing; but as for those who are faithless, there is a deafness in their ears and it is lost to their sight”. (41:44)

The Quran seems to be biased against unbelievers, dont you think?
