italo: Firstly, I don't think the evolution theory is incompatible with the Bible's account of creation so I am not trying to squash anything. I am largely indifferent about evolution. I think there might be some truth to some of its propositions, but there might also be some fallacies.

Secondly; all I've been trying to do is not to prove the creation story. I have been trying to prove that: the premise that something doesn't exist if you cannot provide concrete scientific evidence is flawed. Atheists only hypocritically apply it when they are "seeking" proof of God. There's no way to provide concrete scientific evidence that a person did or did not dream, for instance, but Atheists, like the rest of us believe in dreams. There's also no way to provide concrete scientific evidence that a person loves or does not love his/her country but Atheists, like the rest of us believe that people do love their countries. They claim that religious people only believe what they have been told by their leaders but that is the same thing Atheists do.

So since logicboy is arguing against that I've been asking him for evidence - NOT explanation - of some of the things that he believes. He has provided none. I have also shown to him that he believes many things, not because he has SEEN or TOUCHED concrete evidence of them, but because scientists have SAID they have evidence and he BELIEVES his 'religious leaders'.

Now do you want to prove - NOT EXPLAIN - some of these things or do you accept that we can be sure that something exists without having concrete scientific evidence of it.

alexleo: The verse you stopped in the chapter you quoted in your other post above is it where the story of Jesus and the woman stopped? Who is deceiving who?

italo: He failed to provide concrete evidence for the theory of evolution or the alleged non-existence of God. And even if the theory is entirely true, its not contrary to my faith and not a proof that God doesn't exist.

vedaxcool: I happened to watch a film titled the RITE, whose producers claimed was inspired by real life events. The Film central theme is about exorcism by catholics priests.

The film talks about a man who became a priest because he was running away from "something". The man was appointed a priest and then the story goes on the man was a skeptic even before becoming a priest he did not believe there is God and etc.

Well after becoming a priest he wrote his resignation letter and sent it to the head priest in his area . . . Events occurred which made him agree to go for an exorcism course in rome.

To cut the long story short, during the course of exorcising the priest that trained him , he became convinced that God really existed and that the reason why he was an atheist is that he had to bear the dreadful sight of his mum being in coma and later on dying in coma. He carried a deep anger and resentment towards God for this. And he also resented his dad because of this.

We can say some people actually become atheists not as a result of any serious thinking but as a result of life's frustration. Now some atheists on NL sometime show this sort of tendency where u read their strange (in)capacity to reason.

Many incredible edifices remain all over the world as remnants from eras gone by, many of them from times humans did terrible things. But this isn't limited to just religion so what's the point?

The 'nigerian christian brothers' part is a reflection of the overall corrupt nature of the average nigerian who travels abroad in search for golden eggs - the fact they chose 'church business' to be their hustle...again this has no bearing on the validity of religion itself.

Where's the rest of the story & what's the point? I've been to many parts of the world and almost everytime I ran into a Nigerian they were up to no good. What does the fact these ones were into 'church business' have to do with religion & atheism?
