Everyone wants to leave an amazing first impression and most people tend to lie in order to impress the person they are in a conversation with. However, there are some things you have to be upfront about if you have any intention on building a relationship with the person you are trying to impress. A relationship foundation based on simple lies will always crumble and leave you feeling horrible at the end of the day. Interestingly, I would say guys are usually more guilty of most of these points below. 1. Age: It’s too difficult to keep track. And eventually the truth comes out. 2. Your Job: Not your dream job. Not the one you just applied for. The one that is currently sending you a paycheck. 3. Your True Relationship Status: Divorce means papers are signed. It doesn’t mean we are living together but have been talking about separating. 4. Height: Unless you plan on dating him via the Internet forever, don’t bother to lie about this one, especially if you prefer heels to flats. 5. Interests: Please don’t pretend you are okay camping when in reality your idea of roughing it is the Ritz-Carlton. 6. Whether Or Not You Smoke: Unless you have been wearing the patch for two years, please don’t pretend you don’t smoke. Lying about it is more of a turnoff for nonsmokers than doing it. 7. Whether You Have Roommates: I know things can be tough financially, but you need to ’fess up to this one. He will know in time if it’s a one-way street to his house only. 8. What You Are Looking For: If you are looking to date, don’t tell him you would be fine with a casual fling. It’s not him who will suffer in this; it’s you. Focus on what you want — don’t conform constantly in order to try and get it. 9. Pets: He could have allergies. |

A group of young men from Esighi village in Bakassi Local Government Area on Saturday trailed and killed four ex-militants allegedly terrorising the waterways. The youths said they carried out the action after confirming that the ex-militants were in possession of some boats seized by a gang of pirates that robbed 19 Cameroon-bound passengers on April 25 along the Bakassi waterways. The youth group also rescued three speed boats, suspected to have been stolen and used for operations by the former warlords. Southern City News gathered on Sunday that the youths, numbering 10, took the step to fish out the pirates after they had been accused of being part of the April 25 attack. One of the youths, who preferred anonymity, told our correspondent on the telephone that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday (May 23) after they had successfully trailed the ex-militants to their base and killed four of them with their (the former militant’s) own weapon. He said, “We have been looking for these militants but today we finally caught them and the boat. When we saw them, we jumped into the river. We swam to their location without them noticing us. We struggled with them and unfortunately one of us died but we eventually killed four of them with their guns”. A community leader in Esighi, Mr. Livinus Oke, said the community had earlier accused the youths of being responsible for the April 25 incident, adding that the accusation made the youths to go in search of the perpetuators in order to prove their innocence. He said the youths laid siege to the pirates and carried out the action, adding that the matter had been reported to the security agency. But the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said no such incident had been reported. Bassey simply told our correspondent, “The information is not authentic.” No fewer than 19 passengers were recently attacked by pirates along the waterways. Some of the female passengers were raped by the robbers. The driver of the boat, Mr. Effiom Bassey, had told Southern City News that their experience was horrifying. He also said his boat and goods worth N40m was taken away by the thieves. Also, a 24-year-old fish trader, Enoh Ubon, who was among the victims, said passengers lost valuables to sea pirates in the last few months. Ubon confirmed that two female traders were raped during the encounter by the robbers, adding that she was, however, spared because she was on her monthly menstrual cycle. “It is not the first time that we are being attacked. We have complained to authorities concerned but we have not seen improved security presence. The robbers do not only steal, they have added rape to it. This is unfortunate,” she said angrily. http://www.punchng.com/city-news-feature/youths-kill-four-suspected-pirates/

President Muhammadu Buhari has reinforced his government’s commitment to fight corruption and to ensure offenders face the full wrath of the law. In a Vanguard compilation of comments and thoughts of Buhari, 48 hours before his inauguration as the new Nigeria leader, he reiterated the top issues his administration will tackle after assuming office – security, unemployment, fighting corruption, infrastructure amongst others. He said the Goodluck Jonathan administration has grounded the Nigerian system, as he acknowledged the challenges he must face to bring about the ‘change’ Nigerians are yearning for. He said, “the biggest message is to try and persuade the people that it is not possible to change the state of affairs now. It took 16 years to get to that state of affairs. Nigeria earned more revenue during that period than what it earned from 1914 to 1999. “We used to have Nigeria Airways, Nigerian National Shipping Line, Nigeria Railway. Where are they now? Where is the infrastructure that is commensurate with what we earned in-between, what is on ground? That is how efficiently the PDP managed Nigeria in the last 16 years." Buhari assured that no stone will be left unturned in the fight against corruption, noting that not even immunity clause will aid the escape of anyone who is fingered and found guilty by the law. He stated, “we will make sure that we get cooperation from the judiciary so that people who worked against the law are prosecuted, especially those who have lost their immunity, even those who think they have immunity because this is the best way to stabilize the system. “People must not benefit from being lawless. You can’t be in a position by virtue of the Constitution, subvert the Constitution and continue to enjoy the privileges offered by the Constitution. I don’t think that will be acceptable by the APC. “So, whether you are in the opposition or the government, you have to behave. I think that is the way we can make progress.” http://pulse.ng/politics/muhammadu-buhari-immunity-or-not-youll-face-the-law-president-speaks-on-corrupt-leaders-id3813764.html

Boys are not smiling because, "Aristos" have taken over the show. They have become the most celebrated guys or rather "daddies," on most campuses in Nigeria. Why is the trend on the increase? Years ago, it was unheard of. Or rather, it was a “coded runs.” Well, here are some reasons why these young beautiful ladies prefer these men to their young blooded counterparts. They say: 1. The old guys pay big money just to spend less than five minutes in bed, while the young guys just want to go all night for free sometimes. Hmmm! 2. The older men are caring and intelligent. 3. With the young guys, there is always a chance that they will get heart-broken. 4. With the old men, you know there is no chance, it is just a fling. A sweet risk. 5. These old guys spend a lot of money on young girls. How many small boys can do that without rough handling you in bed? 6. They are willing to learn how to please a woman. 7. They show them love that their fathers never showed them. 8. You could end up being the second wife of a rich “baba olowo.” 9. The fun is in the risk and danger. 10. They choose to date older men for money. http://pulse.ng/relationships/romantic-relationship-10-reason-most-young-girls-love-to-date-older-men-id3802512.html |

A question that connotes a huge waste of time...Even if it exists, I'm sure he's no where near this continent... Leaders should work hard to transform the country. It's time we stopped hiding under the guise of a deity as an instrument for achievement and development. It has never worked and will not. It is how you lay your bed, that you will lie on it... |

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the Constitution but failed to make the contents public. The head of Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Saturday, said the President and the Vice President submitted their assets declaration forms separately on Thursday. Shehu added that the CCB, through its Chairman, Sam Saba, on Friday acknowledged the receipt of the forms. He gave Buhari’s declaration identity number as “President: 000001/2015.” Shehu, however, did not disclose the contents of the assets declaration forms. “By declaring their assets, President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises. “While seeking election into the highest office in the land, the President had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his assets as soon as he took over government,” he wrote. The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140 that a person elected to the Office of the President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution. Though the president’s aide believes the declaration was in fulfillment of Buhari’s campaign promises, analysts claim the President has not done anything spectacular because the contents were not made public. In February this year, while campaigning Buhari had said that he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, if voted into power. Buhari stated this in a document. The document highlighted what Buhari would do in his first 100 days if he assumed power on May 29. He said he would encourage political appointees in his administration to also declare their assets publicly. Had the new president kept to his words he will be the country’s second president to publicly declare his assets. Reacting to the news of the asset declaration by Buhari and Osinbajo to the Code of Conduct Bureau, the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the PDP was not ready to engage the All Progressives Congress-led government on asset declaration by the two most important persons in the country or any other issue. Metuh said, “No comment for now. These are early days. At the moment, we wish them well.” The late President, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, also from Katsina State as Buhari, was the first and the only Nigeria’s President to have publicly declared his assets when he assumed office. This action forced his then deputy, Jonathan, to also make his assets declaration forms available to the public. However, since he assumed office as the substantive President, Jonathan had refused to make the forms available to the public, saying that he did that when he was serving as deputy to Yar’Adua. But Buhari, in the document titled, ‘I pledge to Nigeria’ had also said that all his political appointees would only earn salaries and allowances as prescribed by the Revenue and Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission. He said, “I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. All political appointees will only earn the salaries and allowances determined by the RMFAC. I pledge, as Commander-in-Chief, to lead from the front and not behind in the comfort and security of Aso Rock, to boost the morale of fighting forces and the generality of all Nigerians.” Meanwhile, about 48hours after they took their oaths of office, President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have yet to move into the Presidential Villa, Abuja, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. Investigation by our correspondent on Saturday showed that the duo only attended the events held in the Villa on Friday and returned to town. While Buhari was suspected to have returned to the Defence House, the official residence of the President-elect, which he started using shortly after he won the March 28 presidential election, Osinbajo might have returned to his private residence. Immediately after they were inaugurated as President and Vice President at the Eagle Square on Friday, Buhari and Osinbajo moved to the Presidential Villa for a state luncheon organised in honour of world leaders who attended the inauguration. They left and later returned in the evening for the inauguration gala night held inside the villa’s old Banquet Hall. “The President and the Vice President have yet to move into the State House. I learnt that the President returned to Defence House on Friday,” a source said http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-vp-fail-to-declare-assets-publicly/

Insider reports are saying that before the controversial former first lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, departed with her husband to Otuoke, she ordered that all cutleries, including knives, forks, spoons, and even bedsheets, be packed and taken it out of the villa. Stella Dimorkorkus reports that an eyewitness said, ''Ah Madam didnt want anything left behind at all and her mood made it difficult to know why she wanted to move out with spoons and knives and forks,Her aides and personal staff around her were shocked to say the least." It is unknown as to why she gave these instructions. http://pulse.ng/gist/in-the-final-moments-patience-ordered-that-all-cutleries-be-taken-out-the-villa-id3811799.html
