sisiafrika: I want to ask why malaria parasite test is mostly prescribed for pt. I think Africans have them in the blood, fever just set in if they are higher than normal. Just trying to be curious. ThanksYou're right. Malaria is endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and patients become symptomatic when the level of parasitemia is high in the blood. Despite these peculiarity, malaria cannot be diagnosed only with the symptoms. This is because the symptoms of malaria overlap with symptoms of a lot of other diseases so you have to do a laboratory test to be very sure what is producing the symptoms is malaria. |

You've answered your question. |
Let me first start off by saying that if you are reading this then you probably feel the need to have someone tell you why you should use condoms. I won’t say wear a condom because to me that leaves the impression that this article is strictly about men. Women are equally responsible when it come to condom use! I am not writing this article because I have some new statistics or advice. This is simply an article to stress the fact of the importance of protecting yourself. I mean, you only have one life to live right? So why live your life in fear, not knowing whether your one night of passion could possibly turn into a life full of hurt, anger and pain? Things do happen, and a condom may not protect you from every single thing out there. My point in all of this is that at the end of the day, you should be able to look back and say you’ve done all you could to protect yourself. Below I’ve gathered a list of reasons you should at least consider using condoms! 1. Prevent STDs. Most people with a sexually transmitted disease don’t even know they have one. So, how can you be sure? Protect yourself against, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and HPV (this list is just a few of the diseases out there). 2. Prevent unwanted pregnancies. Condoms may not be 100% affective in preventing pregnancies but the reality is that no one method of contraceptive is 100% unless you remain abstinent. Use condoms to minimize your chances of unwanted pregnancies. 3. Shows maturity. Taking care of your sexual health speaks volumes, and can be seen as being responsible. 4. You are not married. This is not to offend anyone, or say that marriage means you are safe. Chances are that if you aren’t married, your partner may not be with you a year of two from now. Having multiple partners, doubles you risk! 5. They’re cool. Condoms now come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They have different lubrications that enhance sensation, such as Trojan’s new Fire & Ice. You can even order condoms in bulk online for convenience. 6. Less stress. Provide a sense of security knowing that you are reducing the chances of STDs and pregnancy. Always keep in mind that this is not 100%. You and your partner still have the responsibility of getting tested regularly. 7. Could save your life. AIDS caused by HIV is a disease that progressively attacks the immune system. Sadly there is no cure for this disease. Many people die from AIDS each year. There are several ways to contract the virus, but for the topic at hand, condoms can be effective at preventing the spread of this disease. 8. You have multiple partners! Let’s face it, not everyone is monogamous. Many people actually believe that if they have been with a person for some time that it’s okay to not use condoms as long as they protect themselves when they’re with other people. Absolutely wrong! You should always use condoms. 9. You and your partner haven’t been tested. If you and your partner don’t know your status, then condoms are a must. Honestly you should want to know before you become sexually involved, but more often than not, that isn’t the case. 10. You can’t tell by looking at someone whether or not they are disease free. The most beautiful woman in the world and the most handsome man can both be carrying a deadly secret. Be careful! Condoms are Everywhere. The great thing in today’s society is that you can pretty much buy condoms anywhere. Gas stations, drug stores, convenient stores and even online you will find a large selection of your favorite brand of condoms. There are flavored condoms, condoms for enhanced sensation, XL condoms; I mean the list goes on. You can even get frees sample of a particular condom before you decide to purchase a large quantity. Another good thing, for those of you on a budget, is that you can get them for free at your local health department. So really there is no excuse, unless you and your partner are actually trying to get pregnant, are monogamous and have both been tested. http://s-jordan.hubpages.com/hub/10-Reasons-You-Should-Be-Using-Condoms |
tyconcepts: I like this dude...One quick question : Are thou taken?I've been taken by 7 women, one for each day of the week. But I'm actually looking for an 8th- for the rest of my life. |
My wife earning more than me doesn't automatically translate to her being the breadwinner. I will pick all my family bills to the last naira - my wife may choose to help at her discretion. Her money is her money. If I run into shortage, I may borrow from her- pick the bills. When I'm back on my feet, I'll pay back to the last dime. Besides, who wouldn't be proud of a woman that makes more benjamins than he does? I definitely will be. On an alternate universe, I'll see it as a challenge to hustle harder and be the man she will always be proud of. Only insecure men go about hating on their wife's better income. Only lazy men will sit at home and wait for madam to pick family bills. I'm none of those. My humble submission. |
ijinlove20: Thank you Dr. But is the weight lost not connected with the previous mentioned infections? My point is, you losing weight despite a good appetite could point to a thyroid or diabetic condition. The only way to know is to see a doctor, register your worries, he'll order some panel of tests and make a diagnosis. Then treatment can begin. You need to see a physician. iyaakanran: Hello doctor, please how do i treat sinusitis without the use of antibiotics. You can't TREAT a sinusitis of a bacterial infective origin without using antibiotics. However, if it's of an allergic origin, you're good to go with nasal decongestants and intranasal steroids. Disclaimer: This information is for advisory purposes only. Then ZMapp is over-rated. Excellent supportive care in a viral disease has always been a key to survival. |
Lagusta: lololzzzz!!!If I was told, I wouldn't have believed it. ![]() What did you find from the labs? |
ohzee: I took time to read through the comments from others before replying. High blood sugar I.e uncontrolled diabetes can cause itching. However in my opinion carrying out lab tests before seeing a doctor is like putting the cart before the horse. My own humble advice is this; go to a teaching hospital and see a doctor who will refer you to an endocrinologist to fully evaluate her blood sugar control and possible complications. A full blood count and ESR seems to have been omitted from your tests. I wonder why? A condition called polycythemia rubra Vera can cause itching and a full blood count will reveal this easily.Don't contradict yourself. You can never have polycythemia in someone who has pruritus secondary to Uraemia complicated from uncontrolled diabetes. It will almost always be an anaemia. Because of this, a smart physician would not order a CBC to diagnose the condition, but to know the overall status of the patient. Why ESR? Tests are done with a basis from what was gotten from the history. The average Nigerian patient has little or no money to spend on tests which may end up not being useful. So why waste their money ? She's seen a doctor, went to hospital, her mom was even admitted and there was no positive response. She decided to come to Nairaland, to enjoy the brainstorming ability of healthcare providers, who obviously are advising her in their seasoned professional perspective- and have advised her to see a specialist. I guess she's well directed. |

At autopsy, tattoos are recorded as part of the external examination. An investigation was undertaken to determine whether negative messages that are tattooed on a decedent may indicate a predisposition to certain fatal outcomes. Tattooed and nontattooed persons were classified by demography and forensics. Tattoos with negative or ominous messages were reviewed. Statistical comparisons were made. Persons with tattoos appear to die earlier than those without. There may be an epiphenomenon between having tattoos and risk-taking behavior such as drug or alcohol use. A negative tattoo may suggest a predisposition to violent death but is eclipsed by the presence of any tattoo. Carson HJ. Am J Clin Pathol. 2014 Jul;142(1):99-103. doi: 10.1309/AJCPDOI32FWQLUEO. I need help pls. Thank you. I'm 21 years old. Also, i noticed maggots in my stool recently each time and waist pain. It's hurts really. You may want to see a physician. D a thyroid assay and a fasting blood sugar test. Make plans to see a physician as well. |
