Sagamite: Speak for yourself.Good for you. |
Dude always have a comeback story to support everything. The other time it was mast.urbation. This time it is divorce. The day a Nigerian preacher admits to his shortcoming would be the beginning of the Armageddon. |
Every cheating dog deserves to be killed and fed to the vultures. |
Generalization is the root of all bigotry. |
There's a big difference between being an academic superstar and being smart/intelligent. Nigerian educational system focuses more on how well you can memorize lecture material and pass examinations - hence anybody perfect in the art can suffice as an academic don. Being smart and intelligent is a spectrum that is not exclusive to academic prowess alone. It entails being creative, being disciplined, knowing where to draw the lines, being able to think creatively and demonstrate mental ability in superlative form. It also entails having a sound mind- not deterred/carried away by popular opinion. If a girl is beautiful and she just knows how to pass exams, sorry I will pass. |

Men have upgraded. Beauty with no brains is a liability. No beauty with good brains is an asset. The good thing with beauty is it can be worked upon. The bad thing about brains is- once you don't have it, you don't have it. |
Pray nothing bad happens. Better still, make sure her whereabouts is known by a trusted family member. |

Is he the same preacher that [s] advised his congregation to masturb.ate because its not a sin? [/s] famously retorted that masturb.ation is not a sin?? |
It's a matter of convenience at the moment of using the toilet. You're in an eatery- and after ordering and eating ice cream, you now remember you're lactose intolerant. Reality begins to set in minutes later and you find yourself using the convenience. I would like to know how water will be used in this scenario. So it depends. Water still cleans better. |
There's no place in those parts of the Bible that support tithes, offerings, and other money-chopping adventures or hoodwink people to part with their earnings. It's all about the money. |
Anyone that comes to Nairaland to look for a future partner must be a joker in real life. |
ogagusps3: A plasmapheresisCorrect answer. In the question, 5 things were obvious 1)hemolytic anemia (fragmented RBCs on blood film, low haematocrit, increased total and conjugated bilirubin) 2) thrombocytopenic purpura (low platelet count, petechia, ) 3) renal abnormality (increased bun and creatinine) 4)Neurologic disorder (confusion, disorientation) 5) fever These features are very suggestive of a thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura(TTP). Anytime you see a question with the pentad of those features up there, its a TTP. If you have no Neurologic manifestation and more renal involvement, it's a Hemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (HUS). The treatment of choice is a plasmapheresis(plasma exchange). Corticosteroids, splenectomy, aspirin etc are subtherapeutic. Happy Sunday. |
akinladejo: U must be a wicked soul! Can you tell your brother or sister or uncle even your Dad or mum to risk this thing this people doing? So they should die becuase the volunteer? It wasn't by force na. Was it compulsory? What amazes me is that we still have people who can see how the word "volunteer" was used and still went and expect to be treated as an employee. I don't have sufficient facts to make conclusions but I would really love to know if there was a LEGAL agreement, papers were signed on their roles and what they're to be paid. If that wasn't done, relying on the mere verbal promise(with the knowledge of antecedent experiences of heartless Nigerian leaders and politicians) is some sort of a surprising happenstance. I'm still proud of them though. They did well. |
I need to check my dictionary for the meaning of "volunteer" again. Maybe the definition has changed. |
None of the above. |
hushmail: d technicalities of ur explanation makes it plausible bt i refuse to believe for d simple reason dat alchol is fermented sugarYou have a dictionary and the Internet. It's a very simple explanation. Alcohol will increase your blood glucose level initially giving you the initial energy high. It doesn't stay alcohol forever. It is metabolized into other intermediates which drive its long term hypoglycemic effect- which produces the features relevant to this topic. You don't need to believe my explanation for it to be true. Those that understand, understand completely. |
There's a phenomenon called alcohol-induced hypoglycemia. It means that alcohol can reduce the level of glucose in the blood to abnormally low levels. Alcohol intoxication (also called drunkeness) reduces the level of glucose in the blood by: 1) increasing insulin secretion to consume current energy stores. 2) inhibiting the hormono-enzymatic response that would normally rectify low blood glucose levels. (Alcohol inhibits gluconeogenesis in the liver, inhibits glycolysis in the brain and liver etc) The hypoglycemic effect of acute alcohol intoxication further starves the brain cells of glucose and presents as neuroglycopenic symptoms. This is responsible for impaired judgement, fatigue, confusion, lethargy, daydreaming, incoordination, stupor, & coma. So your garri and sugar soaked in water contains macromolecules of glucose that would increase the glucose levels in the blood, supply glucose to the brain and reverse the features that characterize drunkenness. |

A 45 year old, previously healthy woman presents with jaundice, confusion and fever. Initial physical examination is unremarkable except for scattered petechiae on the lower extremities, scleral icterus, and disorientation on mental status examination. Laboratory examination discloses: Hct = 27% WBC= 12,000/uL Platelets= 10,000/uL TBili=5 mg/dL DB=0.6 mg/dL BUN=60 mg/dL Creat=4.5 mg/dL PT/PTT=normal RBC smear looks like this(see picture) Q. The most effective and appropriate therapeutic maneuver is likely to be: A. plasmapheresis B. administration of aspirin C. administration of high-dose glucocorticoids D. administration of high-dose glucocorticoids plus cyclophosphamide E. splenectomy

Win95: depending on your school, in mine we write three pre clinical courses, anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. First the essays and mcqs, then the practicals and then viva(oral). 300 mcqs and 7 essays for all three courses, the practicals in the various labs and then viva in your respective hod offices. The school sets the questions send to the council, questions are scrutinized and sent back to the schoolTop notch. He's said it all. To add, for 500 &600 level, there are MCQs, theory, clinicals(short case and long case) and orals. To pass, you must fulfill the criteria of having 1) a Pass Mark of 50% 2) pass in clinicals. Meaning if you have more than 50% and fail the clinicals, you have failed. Clinicals comprises of short case and long case. In short case, your clinical skills are examined and graded. In the long case, you're given a patient to take a history, make a physical examination and state how you will manage successfully. This doesn't apply in all the schools. Some schools use an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) pattern for clinicals. |
