RomanceRe: "reasons You Are Not Married" by LongOne1(m): 1:45pm On Nov 18, 2011
Well, different strokes for different folks, for me its indecision revolving around this idiom 'why buy a cow when you can get milk for free?'

Guess I’m just confused or disillusioned, but at least I’m honest. grin

africans had a civilisation which was far more advanced than anything that the europeans could ever muster - stop exhibiting your ignorance and read about ancient nubia - we were far ahead of the europeans in terms of civilisation.
who invented writing, irrigation the europeans or the ancient egyptians?
for your information - the so called skyscrapers you see in the western world today are all modelled after the pyramids which were built by black africans in egypt thousands of years ago - an engineering feat which europeans remain baffled by to date.
True, but no point living on past glory, we need to think about the future.
paniki:
How many ''Made in America'' products do you use? You don't need to make things to be powerful, you just need to develop new things and then manufacture them at a cheap place like China. Apple develops the iphone in America and then they manufacture in Taiwan, it makes the Taiwanese people a little productive but most of the value belongs to America where the product is developed.
I totally agree with you on this, the UK government know they can no longer compete on just Manufacturing, so they are trying to create a culture of innovation as well as maintain their strong financial services sector. They see creating a culture of Innovation as key to achieving global competitive advantage through collaboration between Industries and Universities.

My question is, when will our African leaders start to see the bigger picture, when will they realise that building a strong Manufacturing base will guarantee better lives for the common man? Will this ever happen in my lifetime or am I blindly optimistic?
Foreign AffairsRe: The Deindustrial Revolution: Why Doesn't Britain Make Things Any More? by LongOne1(m): 5:27pm On Nov 17, 2011
Well, it is what it is, kingdoms rise and fall, change is constant and very few countries remain as leaders for many years.

Our African leaders should start thinking about how to develop a Manufacturing base to compete with the emerging BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) economies. Alternatively, stimulate an African Industrial Revolution to grow our Manufacturing sector.

Interesting, but really long read, well done poster.
RomanceRe: For The Women: Would You Date A Younger Man? by LongOne1(m): 2:09pm On Nov 17, 2011
I read somewhere that some women experience reduction in sexual desire after menopause due to oestrogen deficiency and loss of libido.

That is one of the disadvantages of such a union, from a male point of view.

^^^hmm, I will stand by her, as I know how difficult it is to find that ‘special’ someone.

It won’t affect my feelings for her.

Making New Year resolutions I know I won’t keep, and church if compelled by an external force.

Prefer to be alone with my thoughts/sober reflections.

I don't refuse to believe in star signs as I don't want my fate to be identical to others grin

. . .but I'm just inquisitive by nature and learn through asking questions.
pendo89:
Don't I just love that.
Oh well, you both do not know what you are missing, in terms of knowledge.

I do not believe in fate, but rather similar personalities amidst certain people. Large companies use psychometric tests to determine your personality type before employment, the most common is the Belbin Test. So, don’t see anything wrong in wanting to know what you are capable of, and what people with similar personalities have achieved.

Sounds like a good way to challenge you/know more about your strengths and weaknesses if you ask me.
RomanceRe: Why Do Some Men Who Date Out Put Down Their Women? by LongOne1(m): 4:31pm On Nov 14, 2011
@ Post; I think it all boils down to an inferiority complex on their part.

Alternatively, since they are still in that ‘honeymoon/love stoned’ period (added emphasis on stoned), their current partner looks divine/almost blameless to them, while the old partner looks straight devilish  grin. This leads to condemnation of not only old girlfriend, but also her background/region/group to the exaltation of the new one and hers.

Time usually cures this, as after the smoke clears, the flaws begin to show, which might lead to a breakup. Then the ‘blame game cycle’ usually starts again with the same stage, but a different foe - the now ‘old’ girlfriend and her people.

@ Poster; the things you think about sha, you’ve got me all philosophical. What’s your star sign if I may ask?
RomanceRe: Am I Being Unreasonable Here? by LongOne1(m): 5:52pm On Nov 10, 2011

RomanceRe: Are Nigerian Babes Losing Out On Nigerian Men? by LongOne1(m): 12:24pm On Nov 08, 2011
I dunno, but for me it’s been mostly East African babes, as I seem to have a thing for them. There’s definitely something about them, probably because they are of a different flavour or just the thrill of experiencing a different culture/seeing the world through their eyes- this definitely appeals to the wanderer/adventurer side of me. On the downside though, they seem to be content as a people, lacking the drive to achieve or excel.

Truth is, it’s hard to meet a young, Nigerian girl who appreciates the finer things in life, like meaningful relationships and romance as you said. It’s usually money, money and more money or how to keep on acquiring material things which on it’s own is fine, but not as the basis of a relationship. Congrats on finding a good one, poster.
RomanceRe: Wife Material by LongOne1(m): 11:50am On Nov 02, 2011
A girl who is intellectual, social and outgoing.

One who’ll act as a guide on life’s journey, not as excess baggage. grin

One who has a mind of her own, with her own interests, but willing to accompany me on some of mine, and vice versa.

Most importantly, is loyal, and believes in the man upstairs.

Poster, you need to discover who you are (focus on your individuality), not try to tailor yourself to someone’s preference, as one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

Huh. Is everything ok today? What are you talking about? Yep never bend the rules even if she bends over, men need to learn from that notion.
OK, the last part of my reply was obviously a bad joke, but at least we agree on the bolded.

This whole thing is still new to me, so pardon me if I occasionally blunder. That’s why I mentioned the ‘fire’ bit earlier. Enough fire to stand up to me when I mis-yarn/misbehave as you rightly recognized, not someone who’ll be servile or a ‘yes girl’.

Hope you get me a bit more now. I've given you a rare insight into my mind.

I’m here, still the last of a dying breed, and still on the straight and narrow.

Now, how can I get out of this dilemma? Okay, I love good girls, just prefer the ones with a lil bit of fire.

So, have I made it back into your good books now? You know I’ll climb d coconut tree to convince you.  grin

^^^Hahahaha, guess me’s a mixture of both - a reformed individual who’s only one-quarter evil now, lol.

BTW, I wouldn’t want a girl who says how high when I say jump, even if she’s 'good'.
RomanceRe: Why Do Bad Girls Get Married Easier Than Good Girls? by LongOne1(m): 4:11pm On Oct 31, 2011
Bad girls are generally more fun to be with. Moreover, they know how to re-invent themselves which is why they remain popular.

Good girls, however, seem less exciting and are most often used to conventional ways of doing things – lacking spontaneity.

From Wikipedia, success may refer to:
a level of social status
achievement of an objective (goal)
the opposite of failure
I think wislet was referring to social status, which is why she mentioned culture and society.

Was Jesus Successful? Was he a Man?. . .
All the great men mentioned were successful in terms of achieving their goals. I don’t think society would have considered them successful, ‘cos the world’s wisdom is supposed to be foolishness in God’s eyes.

Well, I’m neutral on this, I’ve had one good encounter (calmed this restless, savage beast) and a bad encounter (brought out some parts of me I didn’t even know existed).

So, +1-1 = 0 (Equilibrium)

RomanceRe: How To Know If Your Girlfriend Is Cheating On You by LongOne1(m): 1:30pm On Oct 26, 2011
pro01:
Unfortunately, ignorance is not quite as blissful as you make it seem. Certainly wouldn't be nice for you to be walking around confidently as Suliya's Bf/husband, only for your neighbours and friends to be scoffing at you behind your back about how're you're a mumu and how your 'trusted' Suliya is a generous donator of her punana to xyz guys. The problem is that overly trusting and supposedly 'secure' cuckolds are always the last to know, because they had been living in a delusion of blissful ignorance and baseless confidence, which made them shut their eyes, ears and nose to the harsh reality on ground.
Nice, I have seen the worst parts of women, however, one thing I can’t bring myself to do is to worry about what she is doing/who she might be with, monitoring her every movement, trying to catch her in a lie, e.t.c . All that results to stress and takes the fun out of the relationship. For me it’s either you give your ALL or NOTHING. BTW, if you worry about what people think about you, you won’t go very far in life – fact.

There is also a proverb ‘what you don’t know can’t hurt you’ meaning if you do not know about a problem; you will not be able to make yourself unhappy by worrying about it.
In addition, the serenity prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr says ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

People will always talk and say nasty things about you, humans will always cheat ‘cos it’s in our nature. These things you can’t change, so you need to accept this and move on. Trust is the basis of a relationship, is also what keeps businesses together, so Trust is the keyword. The dating stage is when you get to know and trust someone. If you can’t achieve that, then there is no point continuing or moving it forward, ‘cos when you really ‘know’ someone, you can tell/feel when they are lying or when something is wrong.

pro01:
From what I have observed severally, the most trusting and blissfully ignorant dudes are ALWAYS the most cheated upon.
This is a generalization, and I won’t argue with your ‘observation’, but even bad guys (cheats themselves) are cheated on. So, what are you saying? You should hire a Private Investigator to be following your gf/wife? Alternatively, you should not trust your gf/wife or give her 51% trust, if so, how do you measure trust?
