Well, different strokes for different folks, for me its indecision revolving around this idiom 'why buy a cow when you can get milk for free?' Guess I’m just confused or disillusioned, but at least I’m honest. ![]() |
cap28:True, but no point living on past glory, we need to think about the future. paniki:I totally agree with you on this, the UK government know they can no longer compete on just Manufacturing, so they are trying to create a culture of innovation as well as maintain their strong financial services sector. They see creating a culture of Innovation as key to achieving global competitive advantage through collaboration between Industries and Universities. My question is, when will our African leaders start to see the bigger picture, when will they realise that building a strong Manufacturing base will guarantee better lives for the common man? Will this ever happen in my lifetime or am I blindly optimistic? |
Well, it is what it is, kingdoms rise and fall, change is constant and very few countries remain as leaders for many years. Our African leaders should start thinking about how to develop a Manufacturing base to compete with the emerging BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) economies. Alternatively, stimulate an African Industrial Revolution to grow our Manufacturing sector. Interesting, but really long read, well done poster. |
I read somewhere that some women experience reduction in sexual desire after menopause due to oestrogen deficiency and loss of libido. That is one of the disadvantages of such a union, from a male point of view. |
^^^hmm, I will stand by her, as I know how difficult it is to find that ‘special’ someone. It won’t affect my feelings for her. |
Making New Year resolutions I know I won’t keep, and church if compelled by an external force. Prefer to be alone with my thoughts/sober reflections. |
Hard to tell, as talk is cheap. Then again, plastic surgery is always an option, so no shaking. |
It has to do with the society. |
emofine: pendo89:Oh well, you both do not know what you are missing, in terms of knowledge. I do not believe in fate, but rather similar personalities amidst certain people. Large companies use psychometric tests to determine your personality type before employment, the most common is the Belbin Test. So, don’t see anything wrong in wanting to know what you are capable of, and what people with similar personalities have achieved. Sounds like a good way to challenge you/know more about your strengths and weaknesses if you ask me. |
@ Post; I think it all boils down to an inferiority complex on their part. Alternatively, since they are still in that ‘honeymoon/love stoned’ period (added emphasis on stoned), their current partner looks divine/almost blameless to them, while the old partner looks straight devilish . This leads to condemnation of not only old girlfriend, but also her background/region/group to the exaltation of the new one and hers.Time usually cures this, as after the smoke clears, the flaws begin to show, which might lead to a breakup. Then the ‘blame game cycle’ usually starts again with the same stage, but a different foe - the now ‘old’ girlfriend and her people. @ Poster; the things you think about sha, you’ve got me all philosophical. What’s your star sign if I may ask? |
Poster, he might be saving up for graduate school, you know? Tesco’s slogan – every little helps, lol. I feel you are being unreasonable. EFCC1: Differentiating 10X² + 11X + 2011 should give 20X + 11, not 20X. |
Heavy D - Don't be afraid |
Nayah:Oops, then I am one of the few who don’t. Prefer Kelly any day, never liked Beyonce, never will. |
I dunno, but for me it’s been mostly East African babes, as I seem to have a thing for them. There’s definitely something about them, probably because they are of a different flavour or just the thrill of experiencing a different culture/seeing the world through their eyes- this definitely appeals to the wanderer/adventurer side of me. On the downside though, they seem to be content as a people, lacking the drive to achieve or excel. Truth is, it’s hard to meet a young, Nigerian girl who appreciates the finer things in life, like meaningful relationships and romance as you said. It’s usually money, money and more money or how to keep on acquiring material things which on it’s own is fine, but not as the basis of a relationship. Congrats on finding a good one, poster. |
A girl who is intellectual, social and outgoing. One who’ll act as a guide on life’s journey, not as excess baggage. ![]() One who has a mind of her own, with her own interests, but willing to accompany me on some of mine, and vice versa. Most importantly, is loyal, and believes in the man upstairs. Poster, you need to discover who you are (focus on your individuality), not try to tailor yourself to someone’s preference, as one man’s meat is another man’s poison. |
Live your dreams girl, today and always. Do have a wonderful birthday. |
Cuddlemii:OK, the last part of my reply was obviously a bad joke, but at least we agree on the bolded. This whole thing is still new to me, so pardon me if I occasionally blunder. That’s why I mentioned the ‘fire’ bit earlier. Enough fire to stand up to me when I mis-yarn/misbehave as you rightly recognized, not someone who’ll be servile or a ‘yes girl’. Hope you get me a bit more now. I've given you a rare insight into my mind. |
^^^A take home to mama that can hammer, with a high drive to match mine. About the versatility and diversity, maybe, ‘cos I flirt a lot, but won’t bend my principles. I’ll give you 2 coconuts, to represent those beautiful, female mountain peaks. |
All these celebrity marriages, why do they still bother? |
Cuddlemii:I’m here, still the last of a dying breed, and still on the straight and narrow. Now, how can I get out of this dilemma? Okay, I love good girls, just prefer the ones with a lil bit of fire. So, have I made it back into your good books now? You know I’ll climb d coconut tree to convince you. ![]() |
^^^No, it's a really slow start, hopefully things will pick up soon. |
Cuddlemii:^^^Hahahaha, guess me’s a mixture of both - a reformed individual who’s only one-quarter evil now, lol. BTW, I wouldn’t want a girl who says how high when I say jump, even if she’s 'good'. |
Bad girls are generally more fun to be with. Moreover, they know how to re-invent themselves which is why they remain popular. Good girls, however, seem less exciting and are most often used to conventional ways of doing things – lacking spontaneity. |

sexkillz:From Wikipedia, success may refer to: • a level of social status • achievement of an objective (goal) • the opposite of failure I think wislet was referring to social status, which is why she mentioned culture and society. sexkillz:All the great men mentioned were successful in terms of achieving their goals. I don’t think society would have considered them successful, ‘cos the world’s wisdom is supposed to be foolishness in God’s eyes. |
Well, I’m neutral on this, I’ve had one good encounter (calmed this restless, savage beast) and a bad encounter (brought out some parts of me I didn’t even know existed). So, +1-1 = 0 (Equilibrium) |
slimyem:Nothing do you. I rather like the way you stand up for yourself. If it’s all in good fun and no one gets hurt, then no biggie. Idowuogbo:Hahaha, thanks, but I walk a different path. |
pro01:Nice, I have seen the worst parts of women, however, one thing I can’t bring myself to do is to worry about what she is doing/who she might be with, monitoring her every movement, trying to catch her in a lie, e.t.c . All that results to stress and takes the fun out of the relationship. For me it’s either you give your ALL or NOTHING. BTW, if you worry about what people think about you, you won’t go very far in life – fact. There is also a proverb ‘what you don’t know can’t hurt you’ meaning if you do not know about a problem; you will not be able to make yourself unhappy by worrying about it. In addition, the serenity prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr says ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. People will always talk and say nasty things about you, humans will always cheat ‘cos it’s in our nature. These things you can’t change, so you need to accept this and move on. Trust is the basis of a relationship, is also what keeps businesses together, so Trust is the keyword. The dating stage is when you get to know and trust someone. If you can’t achieve that, then there is no point continuing or moving it forward, ‘cos when you really ‘know’ someone, you can tell/feel when they are lying or when something is wrong. pro01:This is a generalization, and I won’t argue with your ‘observation’, but even bad guys (cheats themselves) are cheated on. So, what are you saying? You should hire a Private Investigator to be following your gf/wife? Alternatively, you should not trust your gf/wife or give her 51% trust, if so, how do you measure trust? |
Nairaland seems a good place to get a crash course on “how to yab/stroke/diss”. BTW, where do u guys get all these swear words from? |
