onatisi:I don't think the economy will become dollarized. This is not the first time we are having a terrible FX fall. We've just had around 2X (official) increase in the value of dollar. Within one year (1999 and 2000), our official exchange rate fell from $21.89 to $85.98 (about 4X). In fact, from 1994 to 1999, the gap between the official exchange rate and parallel market was between 2X to 4X. For example, at the peak in 1999, the official rate was $21.89 while the parallel exchange rate was between $88 and $90. The economy did not become dollarized then, it wouldn't now that it is more diversified (yes, our economy is more mature now than it was in the 90's). The only bane we have is that we have useless and incompetent people at the helm of affairs now. Even then, we are very far from having a dollarized economy. I agree with your other statements tho'. If history is anything to go by, then this current FX crisis and wide gap between the official and parallel market could last for years, especially with Buhari leading the pack. In other news the question is if the Naira will touch 500 today or if history will be made next week. -Lord |

Your illiteracy is visible to the blind. I answered your questions, now you are asking another stupid question. How is it your business if I did or did not benefit from GEJ's government? Are you from the SS or SE? Do you think I'm like you who is waiting for 5k monthly stipend from a directionless government? I showed you that the SW also benefited from GEJ's government, and you're hiding your head in the sand. Please, go and play with your mates outside. Give the phone you're holding back to your father. Nairaland should institute an age-limit for new registrations, the kids on here are too many. -Lord |
ojuu4u:No talk trash make ghost for no give you back hand. Did Tinubu and GEJ not make an informal unwritten agreement. GEJ gets the presidency, Tinubu retains his influence in the SW and cements his control of Edo (a SS state)? So what do you mean by "yoruba alliance single handedly brought u pple to govt 4 whole 6 years"? By the way who is the current AfdB President? Did the SW not gain more than SE in Jonathan's government. He left second Niger bridge and completed revamped Benin-Ore, and you're here yarning dust. Ungrateful, greedy sycophants. You guys have the engine room of Nigeria in the SW, had 8 years of civilian rule, and you guys are still fuming about common appointment. Nonsense! Tinubu will go down and nothing will happen. It is in this same Nigeria that OBJ (a Yoruba man) trimmed the two foremost political behemoths of SS--Alams and Ibori (someone that IBB, a Fulani man built)--down to size in one fell swoop; and put a dying Fulani man as President. No body cried fowl. Abi Ibori or Alams thief pass Tinubu? The sins of SW are too much to bear. Everyone is your enemy. Na madness don dey do una so. -Lord |
What is happening to Tinubu is unfair. But all is fair in War, Love, and Politics. Personally, I think SS and SE should sit on the sidelines and let SW carry their cross. There's no chance in hell that a Southern Candidate would become the President in 2019. In fact, plus or minus Tinubu, Buhari is likely to continue until 2023. He has the core North, and some part of the West. Even then, we all know in 2023, if the winning presidential candidate is not Northern, he would be Yoruba. Therefore, why exactly should we put our necks on the line for an ungrateful, greedy a$$? Tinubu didn't need our help when he drove a stake through our collective heart in 2015. In 2011, he had a deal with Jonathan, and both sides honored the agreement, so the SW can't refer to 2011 like they did us a favor. Let history repeat itself, and let Tinubu be crushed. In terms of party, PDP should concentrate on winning elections for now. Fielding a North/South joint ticket in 2019 with a split APC is the winning formula for PDP. The greater South is bigger than Tinubu. He can go to blazes, he wouldn't be missed. Awo and Abiola dey ground, make Tinubu go join them. The ultimate price for treachery and cowardice is what Tinubu would pay like his compatriots of yesteryears. -Lord |
InvertedHammer:What specie of insensitive id**ta types this balderdash? -Lord |
FG's measures will not beat this recession. This recession will fizzle out because the Nigerian people are resilient. The FG is its own enemy. And the governors are worse. NGF should be scrapped, they're only concerned about sharing money. Sharing money without accountability is why this country is currently in a mess. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is foolishness. I'm not affected by this recession, so good luck to the 180+ Nigerians whose lives depend on the deleterious policies and actions of these troglodytes... -Lord |
When peeps in the know, like myself, contend that Adeosun is unfit to be the Finance Minister, tribalists from the West would start fuming. Now imagine how she disgraced herself. If she has a contrary opinion, can't she send a memo to the MPC, that they'd look through and consider before they arrive at a decision. Must she use the media, thinking she can arm twist an independent body with blackmail. What are the fiscal policies she should be concerning herself with? Every week she and her immediate boss, the VP, would be doing aso ebi with one new meeting with stakeholders after another. Yet no solution. Now she is talking trash about reducing interest rate, when she does not understand the full picture. The CBN has single-handedly gotten the FDI to start flowing once again, started an ABP to boost rice production, and this ungrateful, quack a$$ from Ogun has the temerity to open her foul-smelling buccal cavity to yarn dust, while she's doing practically nothing aside paying salaries. In other news, I will continue to maintain that Sanusi is the best CBN governor we've had since independence. Of course, we don't see eye to eye with his blatant fundamental Islamic principles, but no one can fault his insight and intelligence. Emefiele wouldn't be able to fill his shoes, but he sure as hell is doing his best. The only cog in the wheel is the wheel itself--the Federal Government. Terrible president, stup*d VP, and a dumb finance minister. -Lord |

tee59:Everyone has an a$$hole, so I guess that gives everyone the right to have an opinion. But that statement in bold just reeks of ignorance. @OP, I fully get the she's not a hoe but she did a 3-some part, and I also get the hesitation considering well, the guy code. And I think you should go ahead and date her, if you feel so strongly about walking down that path. But I'm concerned you'll never really stop holding the 3some over her. The fact that you came all out on a public forum to seek advice about this is the primary reason for my concern. For example, people who cheat and are taken back by their partners WILL OFTEN at some point in the future receive jabs relating to their escapade. Their partners don't really forget, they prolly just forgive. Because the next time a cheating allegation pops up (whether true or untrue), references would be made. I'm trying to relate this concept to your situation, and I hope you get the point. Of course, no relationship is rosy through and through. But this reservation you have should not be downplayed. It's there. And it'll take an healthy dose of maturity to avoid thinking the worst or making a d*ckhead move, when she receives a sexually-motivated message from an over-aspiring n*gga who took the lady's easy-going attitude for complicity (the average sit-tight hypocrite like the one I quoted gets these kinds of messages, not to mention a progressive, and outgoing lady in our society which just happens to be a den of sexually-repressed dudes looking to sling a shot every chance they get). Even something as benign as arriving late could be a tripwire. You can either choose to manage it (Lord knows it'd take some getting used to) and just sum up the positives and focus on them than on the negatives (which are inevitably there). Or you can just let her go, and think of it as sort of a close call - like one of those decisions with plenty of positives, but one or a couple of negatives you just can't shake off. Ultimately, it's your call to make, and neither is really a good or bad decision (both decisions are bittersweet). You just have to do what you think is best for you at this time and in the near future, and damn the consequences. -Lord |

I find it intriguing, but utterly disappointing at the same time, that we have so many derogatory names for women but far less for men. Shall we get down to the list: For women, 1. Slut 2. Bi.tch 3. Wh.ore (Hoe) 4. C.unt For men, the worst I can think of is "Dick," most others are either unisex like 'scumbag,' 'bastard,' 'shithead,' or explicitly targeted towards the mother of the man like 'motherfucker' and 'son-of-a-bitch'. Somehow it is fair to call a guy a 'cunt' or 'pussy' to mean weak and worthless, but no one would even call a lady a 'dick' because that derogatory term is too dignifying for them (only meant for guys). If you want to read more about this distortion--try scanning through this article -- http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/damaged-goods-slut-and-spinster-sexist-labels-against-women-8192854.html. Where does this end? At what point does it stop? Are women just baby factories, cum buckets, or meats with three (more if you are creative) f**kable holes with no desires of their own? A man is only expected to have self-control not to cry or let emotions out but they can let their phallux dance around in as many v-jays as they can find. While women can be emotional train wrecks but must exercise self-control when it comes to sex. Who gave men the right to control or dictate how, when, and why a woman should have sex. Are men better than women. Why is okay to split things along gender lines and say men should be more out-going than women, but the same people who champion this split would feel offended when it is remotely opined that whites are better than blacks. There are two types of people on planet earth. Those that have high libido, and those that don't have high libido. A nymph can be a man or a woman. But most of us are programmed to think it's just a woman problem. Guys like to pull back the hair of ladies during "d***y sex," girls like to hold the head of the guy during cunnilingus. It's sex drive. We become rabid when the floodgates of the sex hormones are opened. When a lady seizes the initiative or lets you do her on the first date. She isn't a slut. She is a human who was charmed enough by you to let you in. She shouldn't be chided because she let you have a go while someone else was in the room. We all have a bit of an animal in all of us. Both guys and ladies. If you think it is okay for guys to show theirs, but ladies should keep theirs locked up, then you are worse than a racist. Sex is one of the principal needs in the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs. Who a lady chooses to have sex with, where she chooses to have sex, when she chooses to have sex, and why she chooses to have sex are her own business. Take your judgement to the bank if you think it's worth something. There are no sluts, just ladies with high sex drive. If you can't stand one, then don't associate with one. Don't even attempt to date one, unless you are okay with the idea of couple sharing and swinging. Know who you are and find your type. Don't judge people for who they are. -Lord |

Metallurgist:Please, is your name is Joseph? You can dream eh! Here's the thing, what will happen in post-2019 is that we will be more immune from the currency volatility. The exchange rate at that time, which would certainly be over $1/N500 will not magically reduce. The only thing would be that like it was from 2004 to 2014 when the Naira lost less than 25% in value, post 2020, our currency will be more stable against foreign currencies and not lose a lot of its value when next the economy tanks. As at 2014, we had already reduced our import bill from #1.1t to roughly #700b. With the fall in value of the naira, that inevitably will increase up back to #1t. Anyway, programs like the CBN ABP should send it back down in the near future. I really pity Buhari, because things would only begin to shape up in late 2018, when the election period will be entering full swing (assuming the price of oil does not go past $70 per barrel between now and then). By that time, Nigerians would have had enough for him. But unfortunately, he'd still continue ruling if he so wishes. The primary reason why is because he is retired Fulani general who doubles as the incumbent president and has his kinsmen in all the sensitive security and electoral positions. In the future, Nigerians would look back at the 2015- 2019 period as the worse democratic period in the nation's history. The history books will not be kind to Buhari. -Lord |
ladyF:Don't mind that road-side economist. That is how CBN told Buhari that rate would eventually settle at 250. For this Nigeria? How e 1 tk happen? -Lord |
EdDave:It was a partial ban and smuggling was rife. By the way, there is no ban now, so your point is invalid. -Lord |
A7: A7:You don't answer my questions, yet you expect me to answer yours. I told you I wouldn't reply you again if you accepted a line of thought. You've subtly accepted it, and I will do exactly what I said I would--ignore you. Being able to read does not make you intelligent. When you read the very first sentence "The Federal Government has released N26 billion towards the 2015 annual dry season farming programme aimed at producing more food for Nigeria" and take it to mean that N26b was budgeted for the entire Agriculture ministry and not just the dry season farming programme, I begin to question your educational background. Did you write WASSCE, NECO, or even UTME? If you did and your comprehension is this off, I don't want to ask what you scored in English Language or Use of English. Clearly, you are not reading the texts in the links I've shared, so I'll let you wallow in your ignorance and self-aggrandized misconception. Move along. And let me repeat, quoting me 100 times would not be enough to get me to reply you. I'm done with you. -Lord |
A7:Please, don't irritate me. This is a succinct description of the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP). "The ABP aims at creating economic linkages between over 600,000 smallholder farmers and reputable large-scale processors with a view to increasing agricultural output and significantly improving capacity utilisation of integrated mills." Oga, the question I want to ask you is simple. Who built the integrated mills that the ABP is connecting farmers to? When were they built? And who facilitated th conducive business environment for them to be built? And do you honestly believe that planning for the ABP starting in May when Buhari came in. You do know that screening of ministers was in November right? If you think the CBN thought up this policy between May and November without the input of a formal minister of Agriculture, I will not reply you again. Don't yap like an educated illiterate. Use your brain. -Lord |
I am pro-PDP, and as I dey see am so, na only Dangote be our hope. Once that him refinery open show, all this cabal nonsense for refinery go end. Watch how the level happen for telecommunications, when some kyn people hold NITEL hostage until MTN show. -Lord |
tundexijim:Let him build more. We don't have enough, and he has spent more than 15 months doing nothing. If they had followed the pace of the previous government, I expect us to have near 45 rice mills in this country. Rather he used 6 months to choice a senile tramp called Ogbeh. What do you mean by scarcity of food? Did you or did you not eat affordable rice during the period of rice ban? Lie and this conversation will stop before you say Jack. Your messiah removed the ban, then placed rice on the List Of 41 Imported Items Ban From Accessing Forex At Official Rate. That is one of the reasons naira keeps crashing in the black market. If not why do you think imported bag of rice sells for around 20k. The government is even doing nothing to wade in so that locally imported rice that should retail at no more than 13 -15k is now sold for 18k to 21k, same as imported rice. Buhari is a monumental failure. Happy rice farmers who had good fortunes in a country where 80% of the population have very different tales does not change that. Rice farmers have been making consistent profits since 2013, Buhari should do more than provide money for fertilizer subsidy. It is a shame the budget of change has does not include anything to improve on rice infrastructure in the country, despite the 2 trillion naira increase. -Lord |
4four:Oga, define empty treasury? Don't spread your ignorance or celebrate mediocrity. Put a 6-year old in Aso rock and he would do the same or better than this you are celebrating. Or are you suggesting we thank Buhari for not effing up the rice sector like he did with the real economy? You guys set an impossible standard for GEJ, I see no reason why Buhari should not receive the same treatment. After all, he claims to be plugging waste and fighting corruption. When it was GEJ's turn, you guys said it was paper improvement, now it's Buhari and it should enter the Guinness Book of World records. Anything short of reducing Nigeria's dependence on rice imports to less than 5% by 2019 is nothing but failure on Buhari's part. He looks set on doing just that--failing. He has already sidelined Ebonyi and Anambra, two other major rice producers. We need holistic growth in the rice sector. We don't just need isolated good news from Kebbi, what about Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Bauchi, Gombe, Niger, Kogi, Ogun, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Rivers, Anambra, Delta, Edo and Bayelsa States where Adesina also enacted tenets of the rice revolution? 1 state out of 18, and you are here celebrating Buhari. If I give you back-hand now, them go say person do bad thing. -Lord |
Salas4oru:What previous policy? Did they intend to follow any policy when they tampered with fertilizer voucher distribution already highlighted as one of the biggest innovations in Nigeria's macro-agricultural involvement. Read this, to learn the difference between a serious government's involvement in Agriculture and that of an unserious government--http://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/175496-jonathan-approves-n26-billion-2015-farming-season.html GEJ provided 26b from a 4 trillion naira budget. Buhari provided 15b from a 6 trillion naira budget and you are here spreading saliva disgustingly. This performance is nothing compared to what Buhari should be able to do. In fact, put a 6-year old there, and he would do better. From 2013 till date, we have been breaking historic levels of rice harvests, its a trend that will continue regardless of if a stone is in Aso Rock. I just hope Buhari does not spoil things, because he is already contemplating removing fertilizer subsidy and has done virtually nothing to invest more in needed infrastructure. No new mills, no concessions for new seed companies, or fertilizer companies. All of them are looking at Dangote refinery. Buhari does not have an option but to follow hand-over notes. He can't even improve on what was given him. We have our hands in our teeth hoping he doesn't screw things up. Is that who you call a leader. Please, move along. When this government does something worth celebrating of its own accord, it would be unarguable. For now, he is under performing even in the rice sector, where all the ground work has been done for him. Stop celebrating mediocrity. -Lord |
OSESUNATE: tundexijim: OSESUNATE: chelseajoy:Don't be ignorant. The man is right. Do your research. So you think it is ordinary N15b that transformed the rice industry in Nigeria? Read: FG establish 10 integrated rice mills and 6 Cassava processing plants in 2014 http://nannewsnigeria.com/fg-establish-10-integrated-rice-mills-6-cassava-processing-plants We expect 7 rice mills to be set up in Kebbi http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/agriculture/33479-we-expect-7-rice-mills-to-be-set-up-in-kebbi As at 2013, we already had 15 high-powered mills operating in the country between 2010 and 2013, 13 set up within 1 year https://www.nairaland.com/1558518/videos-15-new-rice-mills My question is how many mills has Buhari set up. The only people looking to set up a new mill is recent times is the Lagos state government investing in Kebbi state. The rice farmers are even lucky that they had an exclusive agreement with the FG under GEJ, with the PMB government just following suit. The other farmers are having a tough time as fertilizers are hard to source these days, thanks to government's incompetency. If the fund hadn't been managed by the CBN, the outcome would have been very different. You are arguing with stagger who has extensive knowledge of the agricultural terrain in Nigeria, when you can't even boast of one plot of farmland. Do you think you can just sit in your house, wave a magic wand and then rice production would increase? Use your brain. -Lord |
Pavore9:The ease of doing business is way too low in Nigeria. Which is why novel ideas like these should have substantial input from the government. It could be in form of low- or no-interest loan, or tax relief, or elimination of double taxation, or a government-private JV. That it took an Harvard graduate to kick-start the production of tomato pastes in Nigeria, today Dangote is a player in that industry, says a lot about government's short-sight and the cautious nature of private investors in Nigeria. In countries where the ease of doing business is way higher, investors can take up more risk and pioneer new industries, because they'd have a good idea of what challenges to expect and would have the ready ears of the government in finding ways to surmount the problems. In Nigeria, the opposite is true. Driving a new business in Nigeria is like driving in the night with zero visibility. And unless you are Dangote, Elumelu or some big shot with direct access to the seat of power, you can kiss rubbing minds with the government to tackle challenges good bye. I know of an indigenous company that produces glass and pays #5 million in electricity bills monthly (before the recent price hike) when they have steady running generators and stand-by generators going for 95% of working time. If a conducive business environment is provided by the government, Nigeria will rival Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and 'em new Asian tigers. -Lord |
989900:Exactly. It is good news that even if the FG and the Ministry of Agriculture has fallen short, the CBN is still stepping up to the plate. Although, I think it would be best if the farmers honored their agreements with the FG. The governments made commitments in local rice production, there are other concessionary investments in rice mills around the country. This is where much of the current government's interest should go to. We have to do all in our power to reduce our import bill. In so doing, we create room for more local businesses that send more money to the government's coffers through tax. I expect the government to look at the perennial problem of our beans not meeting International standards for export. The EU has repeatedly shut their doors to importing our beans, often sending many containers back. The FOREX gained may not be as much as oil, but it is substantial, and we should be working towards it. Much of our import bill goes to food, if we can reduce that, we would be right on track to a Nigeria not at the caprices and whims of volatile oil prices. The Nigerian economy is already diversified, (in fact we have the most diversified economy amongst OPEC members. As at 2015, the oil and gas industry only contributed 9% to our GDP) thanks to the sordid economic planning of the previous democratic administrations. What we need now is to increase the ratio of private to public workers by creating an enabling business environment; and then naturally, non-oil revenues to the government would grow. -Lord |
mikolo80:So because you disagree with him, you think you have the moral authority to call him an "Iidiot"? Mr. Sanity, what have you done for this country? Who are the 'mates rising to the challenge to fix it'? How far have they gone? Why the stagnation? If the French revolution hadn't happened, the tenets of every man being free from birth would not have spread. The killings have happened in Ghana in recent times, which is as close to home as it gets. Although, I hold the opinion that all politicians around the world have the same core ideology--Act differently from what they preach--the truth of the matter is that I'd take any European or North American (excluding Mexican) politician over a Nigerian politician any day of the week. Our politicians are short-sighted greedy f'kers. They are already the elite, so if things get better for the average person, it'd also get better for them. After all, the populace would be taxed, and part of the taxes would foot their luxurious, humongous bills. Unfortunately, they don't see things the same way. What kind of evil makes an individual inflate a project by more than 200%, skims off the extra money, give off the project to his cronies at a premium (or with exchange of envelopes), probably receive kickbacks, and then allow his cronies do a shabby job or nothing at all, while the cronies pocket a large part of the contract money? It's the worst form of wickedness. Because, it's not like these projects if done well harms them. If these projects are completed well, it'd boost their performance rating amongst the populace, and push their political career to the limelight, which means more 'juicy positions' and access to more money for sharing contracts. The projects done well will have positive effects on the local and national economy, which would lead to more revenue for the government through the taxes of thriving businesses. But no, they believe subjecting the masses to suffering for 3 years, and opening the flood gates for 6 months prior to an election is better to keep the people subdued. It's the gravest form of inhumanity I can think of. They'd rather gain in the short term for fancy possessions and exorbitant lifestyles than invest in a future that would be just as bright for them as it will be for the average Nigerian. For as long as I know, the Nigerian populace have tried through complaints and protests to convince these people to see things differently. Unfortunately, they have been adamant. It's 65 years already. I don't know about you, but I think it is enough. Why? Because, even the new breed of politicians (the current aides, special advisers and co between the age of 25 and 40) are not displaying different signs. It looks like we are under a perennial curse, and only drastic measures can resolve this belligerent situation. Politics would forever be a dirty game, and the interests of a few would always supersede those of the hoi polloi. However, history has shown times without number that when the few become so insensitive and are an accessory to the calamity befalling the plebes, they would face the ultimate punishment. The king of France and his wife were beheaded in public. No one born of a woman can survive the targeted wrath of an aggrieved populace. The elites in the Western and Eastern world know this and have several historical examples to learn from, which is why they provide conditions for an appreciable standard of life for their proletarians. The elites on this side of the planet are not used to it yet, so it's our civic responsibility to teach them the hard way. Until then, expect the 'suffering and smiling' state of affairs to continue, while they redirect our anger at each other (on both ethnic, religious, professional, gender levels). If you think you have a better suggestion, put it forward. If you don't have. Stay quiet. Matured minds with extensive intellect are pondering on solutions to real problems here, don't bring your shabby, crooked, damaged self to ruin the conversation. There is zero tolerance for people who want to make a fool of themselves in this thread. Nairaland is big enough for you to find somewhere else to deposit your rag-tagged, disgusting, hate-filled opinion. Simply avoid this thread when you can't hold your abominable viewpoint to yourself and have an irrepressible urge to vomit it somewhere. -Lord |
rusher14:Yes. Don't talk about codes you know nothing about. The client privacy privilege accorded attorneys, codes of journalist, Hippocratic oath of doctors, and ethics of allied health professionals are unflavored principles of conduct. An ethical attorney would not report any incriminating information told him by a client in client-attorney privilege capacity, even if that client is Al-Baghdadi. Journalists protect their source no matter what. An ethical doctor would treat the devil if he was human. If the person treated committed crimes, he or she should be made well enough to stand for his or her crimes. It is a crime for a doctor to indulge in mercy killing. So, don't make inferences that are untrue. -Lord |
ba7man:This is dumb! Nigeria earned 51 trillion. 13% Derivation + 48% state = 51%. FG was left with 49% of 51 trillion which is 25 trillion. Budget for 6 six years at 4trillion per year is 24 trillion. That is aside supplementary budgets. And creeps like you are asking how he wasted 51 trillion? Don't be daft my dear. I'm waiting for the proof of these figures tho'. The original Vanguard article has no OBLs and says they'd add the sources for their figures later. In the mean time, can you see you are not thinking logically? The question you should be asking is, what has Buhari used his 6 trillion for? Excluding recovered loot. The 3 trillion for the 2015 budget left to be implemented whizzed into think air. Now we have a 6 trillion naira budget that has not reached 30% implementation (It's August already). I'm not going to reply you. Just use your brain! -Lord |
shadeyinka:What you sense is not hatred. It is disgust. Is it possible to be a Theist and still see the spiritual illogical? For the existence of God itself is not more important to the Theists than the concept of the kingdom of God. If God really does have a kingdom, this is the beginning of the logical construct of spirituality. There is nothing logical about the spiritual. That you think otherwise is bewildering. Purgatory, number of heavens or hell (depending on your theological background), constant war between good and evil... All of those stuff are many things but logical. My post was directed at Atheists and as such, it is not logical to present the Christian religious view point as a defence or proof of God. I have not even defended any religion in my posts. I have used only scientific, phyllosophical and logical thesis to attempt to proof the existence of a CREATOR who is God.It's good we have a consensus on this one. Sorry Bro. Your claim is highly subjective. You think I am being subjective, but you aren't? Atheists look to science to explain concepts, because science is the poster child of logic. I'll give you an example. You are a physicist, so you'll know mainstream science posit that space travel at the speed of light is, well, impossible. Still, in unpopular circles, other scientists of varying disciplines are exploring avenues, such as wormholes or warping space time, to make that impossible possible. Some of Newton's laws have been rewritten. That is the beauty of science. When new observations debunk old hypothesis, there is no holdup. There is only an attempt to understand the known world around us using the LIMITED resources at our disposal. Theist religious hullabaloo is the opposite of that. They rely on unverified private hallucinations or whatever (I talked to God last night, A still voice ministered unto me; or some other creative balderdash) to explain away natural occurrences. Your tone is full of hatred! Why?This is why I wouldn't move forward with this conversation. That one's belief in God automatically means following a certain religion. That's so wrong in ways you can't even describe. If you think so, we shouldn't be having a conversation. It's just not worth it. Maybe you need to read more. I'd advise you do that more than making illogical conclusions. There are Christian Atheists for crying out loud. Read more about that for a start, then make your way into the wide spectrum that is theism. When you are done with theism, move on to Deism, and then Atheism. When you are done, I guarantee that you wouldn't have as much misconceptions as you have now. I'd have wanted to ground you on why Theism and Religion are very different, but I'll rather you read about it. You'll learn more and probably find out that some of the "truths" you hold are poorly conceptualized aberrations. My time is better spent doing something else. I guess your anger is directed mainly at the Bible and Christianity. We can pick a topic at a time and discuss. Maybe there are some background information you are yet to know.My disgust revolves around religion. Atheists are right that the gods most if not all religions sell as the real deal do not exist. They are conjectures of the human mind. I would hound a Muslim almost as much as I would a Christian, or a Buddhist. Do you also hate God? Are you into self worship? Let's pick issues one at a time. If you hate Christians this much, I wonder what you will do to a Book Haram Insurgent or A Rapist or An Armed Robber.I can't hate what I don't understand completely. Some can, not me. And I'm fairly certain, your God is not the God I believe in. There are at least 1000 Christian Gods for the numerous doctrines in Christianity. I'm not sure where the Christian God who gave Pope Innocent IV the order to issue a papal bull entitled Ad extirpanda, which authorized the limited use of torture by inquisitors (In Catholicism, the Pope is the Vicar of Christ--Mouthpiece of God on earth) is right now. Even though, I see a lot of mixups of your identity in your post, I wish that you ask me all the theological q questions one by one before you finally join them. Not everything about life is physical!I'm not having a conversation about theology with you. I find that discussing about solving the world's concrete problems today is far more rewarding than discussing about a God those who claim to know God can't even decide on who he/she/it really is. Religion is a concrete problem. Unfortunately, over 5 billion people think otherwise, so I'd rather shift my gaze to problems mankind can actually change at this time, like reducing world hunger, promoting secularity, securing rights of minorities, et cetera. I replied you initially to clear up some misconceptions I sensed you were passing off as true statements. Only to find out that you have an unlimited trove of those misconceptions. All the best. -Lord |
shadeyinka:I am a theist. A non-religious theist or agnostic theist if you will. Here is the thing. The spiritual is NOT logical. It is DEEPLY ILLOGICAL. I have experienced a few paranormals myself (of cause, they cannot be accepted as scientific evidences).Paranormal events have nothing to do with Christianity. Our dibias performed magic in the past. They still do. Even your supposed holy book contend that Moses was challenged by the sorcerers in Pharaoh's court. Whether you choose to believe the story of him besting them, the fact is that they were able to do what Moses did. Eroding whatever peculiarity you think of supposedly Christian or Judaist powers. The Dalai Lamas for a long time have had memories of older dalai lamas that they neither met nor knew. There are plenty of concepts that are not thoroughly understood. In the past, magicians and sorcerers used magic mirrors to communicate with each other. Today, we use mobile phones. Placebos in many cases work just as effectively as potent drugs. Belief is a strong force. You may choose to believe that everything paranormal revolves around Christianity. You are wrong. Paranormal events have happened way before Christianity was a thing. Even before Abraham made his supposed covenant. Don't bring the paranormal as proof of Theism. It says nothing. Magic and Science are so close, the only difference may actually be the name. Voices and images in form of radio waves are around you. You only need an antenna to pick these waves and convert them to forms we can interact with. Machines can produce images of the inside of your body, diagnosing your condition within minutes. Wake up a 300-yr old human and he would call that magic. Some humans (people with tetrachromacy) can see 100 times more colors than the average person. Likewise, it is within the ambit of logic that some people may be able to notice energies or visualize events that have happened in time past (your so called prophets and seers who may actually be talented mentalists). Being a Theist is an admission that one recognises and accepts his limitations in Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom, Ability...This is absurd. Atheists are better at admitting that they have limitations in knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and ability. Theists are infamous for using impossible phrases like "There is nothing my God cannot do," "The Bible holds all the answers," "[Insert name of religious leader here] is infallible, he can never be wrong." Atheists accept the current limits of science and knowledge. In fact, they dedicate their time to building on current knowledge to push existing limits. If Religion cannot lead a person to GodPeople see what they want to see. Religion leads people to mental slavery. Philosophy provides a neutral ground for people to contend their beliefs. So far, theists have been unable to prove compellingly that God exists. Don't castigate a person for not understanding the concept of God, when all they hear about God are fairy tales, absurd projections (like male and female species of all animals entering an ark--what about the billions of micro-organisms, how was Noah able to tell them apart or even preserve them), or inhumane instructions (ordering the killing of women and children without a moment's thought). Jesus preached love but condoned slavery. We all say racism is evil, but the bible condones it. Calling an ethnic group Jews, and others Gentiles that are second fiddle in God's plans. The bible opines that God would always protect his own, yet he let millions of Christians die under Emperor Nero, and many Protestants during the Spanish Inquisition. It's hard to make a case for a God with such tendencies. Atheists bring sanity to a world where people are too lazy to ask questions. Too willful to accept that "because my Bible says so, then it is true." The same Bible that says Jesus is God in one verse, but says Jesus is the son of God in another verse. And to compound everything, the religious elite and theologians, champions in the art of hoodwinking, coined a term that doesn't even appear in the Bible to describe it--the Holy Trinity. And when you try to understand the flawed concept and it isn't making any sense, they switch to the default answer that cages gullible minds--God works in mysterious ways, or the ways of God cannot be understood by ordinary mortal beings. Really?! Mary and Joseph--the parents of Jesus--lived and died as Judaists. They weren't Christians. If you have to use Philosophy to prove God exists, don't bring paranormal to the discussion. Because the paranormal is not logical to begin with. Last I checked, Philosophy revolves around Logic. -Lord |

... I'm so sure this is one of the big scams perpetrated by the GEJ administration. That money is enough to totally revolutionize agriculture with large scale mechanized farming..... but in this case, it's only fertilizer subsidy they're able to achieve.
