Unbelievable is the constant dirty revelation coming from the Senate, the latest of them is that Chairman of the Committee on Aviation, that lied about his Degree in Arts/Criminology from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, United States.http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/07/serving-senator-in-certificate-forgery-scandal.html |

Where are the marijuanists in the house? |
One day in the future, George Bush has a heart attack and dies. He immediately goes to hell, where the devil is waiting for him. "I don't know what to do," says the devil. "You're on my list, but I have no room for you. You definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell you what I'm going to do. Believe it or not I've got some folks here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves." Bush thought that sounded pretty good, so the devil opened the first room. In it was Ronald Reagan and a large pool of water being chased by a shark. Such was his fate in hell. "No," George said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer & I don't think I could do that all day long". The devil led him to the next room. In it was Richard Nixon with a sledge hammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time after time after time. "No, I've got this problem with my shoulder. I'd be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day," said George. The devil opened a third door. In it, Bush saw Bill Clinton, lying on the floor with his arms tied behind his head, and his legs in a spread eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, giving him a b**w job. Bush looked in disbelief and finally said, "This is the rooom for me!" The devil smiled and said "OK, Monica, you're free to go." |
Considering the technicality of the English language, words should be carefully selected, when delivering a delicate information. The media often falls short of this mistake. In this case, for instance, the word 'detonate' sometimes means 'to set off'(i.e.to cause a bomb or alarm to go off), which often is synonymous to 'defuse'(to cause to go off). So, to avoid ambiguity, 'defuse' will be apt in such a delicate situation, in lieu of 'detonate'. |
At Mukina, I expected you to have diligently responded to the correction of some Nairalanders on the word DETONATE & DEFUSE. These things are important. You could have just modified the topic or apologised for the inaction. Your superciliousness is just becoming insufferable! You can now ban me. . . |
Hilarious! I read all comments with stiff interest. And there is this adage that when an Igbo man is tying medicine and you refuse to talk, it will seem the medicine man is tying your mouth. In a nutshell, the topic here borders on DICTATORSHIP & INDISCRETION. These are serious allegations! In clear terms, it will be considered an act of insubordination, for someone's most or all posts to make the frontpage. I expect Mukina to humbly address that forthwith. I acknowledge all moderators endeavor heretofore, but this hour isn't meant for praise; it's a clarion call for redress. I may not however be disgusted the way some nairalanders become frontpage-drunk: the average Nigerians want to be popular. Suggestively, regardless of the OP's unfortunate sarcasm, appropriate discretion should be employed, to decide what post makes the frontpage. We wanna keep basking undeterred here on Nairaland. TO MUKINA: a credence to your alleged insolence lies in your silence. Are you wiser than us? |

@OP, hubris is the word. I think she is possessed of it. Madness has no other name than MADNESS! Let's call a spade a spade! And some fools are even saying it's not his money now. . .in marriage? Some of you just need to experience marital life, in order to have your brains configured. We say a child is foolish, his mother says as long as he doesn't die. What death kills faster than arrant folly? |
https://cdn.dailypost.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Bukky4.jpg Actress Bukky Wright this morning was involved in an accident in Epe. Those are pictures from the accident scene. But a source said she was rushed shortly to the hospital after the accident. We really hope she is okay. http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/07/16/yoruba-actress-bukky-wright-involved-car-crash-epe-morning/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=yoruba-actress-bukky-wright-involved-car-crash-epe-morning |
How are we sure he wasn't the architect of the kidnap? Business men and their sleazy antics! Btw, I'm gonna see the end of this OK madness. |
antitpiah: And they are doing that by . . . planting flowers?this really got me laughing! Sorry for your grandma. Ekoo ni baje o! |
I hope the same tree they plant will not collapse upon them during rainstorm, just as a CJN's wife was murdered by the same tree that shades their household. |
I'm okay with this madness! |

People keep displaying follies here. If 10 bachelors were given an option to pick freely, either a young maiden for wife or a brand new car, how many do you think would go for a maiden? We all know the cost of a woman now, let this ignorance stop! Ranging from the bride price and wedding ceremonies, maternity cost, feeding allowance, to the miscellaneous expenses. It doesn't matter wether the wife jobs or not. The man still pays most of the bills. What am I even saying? Look at the poll, the fact speaks for itself! Those saying you don't compare a human with a car, are either emotionally affected, lazy to think or just daft! |
The rate of unintelligence on Nairaland these days is bewildering! When you compare things, what you do is look into them and bring out the properties in them, to show their distinction. Anything can be compared with anything, as long as they have similar things in common. How dare you say it's incongrous to compare a wife with a car?! You pay for a car, you pay for a wife(bride price) & when you don't pay for the car(perhaps you're given or you win a lot), then you don't pay bride price. You nurture a car, you nurture a wife. You maintain a car, to give you comfort, you maintain a wife to give you comfort. A car has properties you often service(tyres, screen, engine...), a wife also has serviceable properties(kids, school fees...). A car can ruin your life(accident), a wife can ruin your life too. A car can be expensive or cheap(depending on the market cost), a wife can be expensive or cheap(depending on the bride price you pay). A car is durable(if well maintained), a wife is durable(if well maintained). A cretin said a car can't give you happiness. Both can give you happiness! Will you be sad that you're sitting in your new limousine? Hence, if a car & a wife share the same similar properties, why can't they be compared in terms of monetary value? Respond to the post and stop furnacing in unripe emotions and illogical sensuousness! As for me, I think maintaining a woman is more expensive, especially in a primitive society like Nigeria. |

I, by the moment, deemed exigent, to enlighten the CEO of Nairaland, his co-moderators, and the poster and others concerned, to be lexical, when using the word 'advice'. 'Advice' is a noun, not a verb. The correct verb in play is 'advise'. By this, it's wrong to say 'please advice him', rather 'please advise him' is right. Also wrong to say 'i'll give him my piece of advise', rather 'i'll give him my piece of advice' is correct. Advice has its stress on the first syllable-/Ad/, while advise has its stress on the second syllable-/Vise/. This has been hitherto abysmally used frequently, especially on the front page...a perceptive disrepute on the intelligence of the forum. Thanks. |
When the rich finds every means possible to be richer, then heavens must answer to this! |
The madness of the administrators of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has finally beserked my trust. In few words, no sane university will charge such a mint for merely result checking. . .a seeming proof of exam pass?! Not a proof of pass! Not a proof of admission! Not a proof of studentship! Extortion of helpless pupils, blighted by a mannerless disingenuity and fiscal tenebrousness, with nil regard to the pupils' financial strength; with a repulsive discountenance for the Rule of Law(had the NASS not passed a resolution favouring the subsistence of the Post-UTME, with a proviso of 1000 naira charge for the scheming practice). This barbaric and negligent show of shame should be publicly murdered! I go against it! My spirit frowns against it! Justitia nods against it! Shame to OAU-Ife! Shame to its leaders! Shame to democracy! Shame to Nigeria! |
@NewsUni, thanks for that generous link. It's settled now! |
Let's examine some poems with some political innuedoes and connotation, that are particularly relevant to our present day political scenes, especially in our country-Nigeria. You may call it an eco-literature. It's advisable to append the name of the poet, save situation where you forget the writer of such poem. I shall start first. "You jerk up from sleep and find us eating; you immediately want a scoop. Just you wait! If we started this way, would you a single morsel found? The affairs of this world are like people eating: some dip ten fingers and clog their throat. Their greed choke the land with sprawling dirts. We will raise our voices and tell the world; we shall not be watchers of others eating."(Eating With Ten Fingers-Anonymous) |
