Calm down bro, I think u have an idea of what the question is. You can kindly refer the person to the express entry thread for more insight as we are all in this together.

To answer the question, I think it takes approximately 6 months give or take to process ur canadian FSW visa post AOR. You can also visit the Express entry thread where you can get alot of information and resources.

Turns out you were wrong though.. there was nothing wrong with what/how that person replied. Question was non specific and the OP has now said it’s open work permit not FSW, so you see that the person asking for clarity is the one that actually had the right of it?

What you are doing is loading your presto with funds, not same as purchasing a pass. In this case, the fund is debited as you use and each transit agency would charge their own fee when you transfer on a trip, in the end it is way more expensive than a pass if you move around at least once every day. I had actually written a tutorial covering the use of google map for public transit and all one needs to know about transit system & fares(plus few tips), I even had picture aids from actual trips I took. unfortunately, just when I was done, I lost a friend and was disoriented for days so was in no state of mind to post. The next day Dec 29, the phone the whole stuff is in suffered an RPM Crash and I havent gained access to it since then.

Maybe I'd start afresh and write the much I can manage to, it may make people's integration quite easier.

Sorry about your friend, may the person’s soul Rest In Peace.
About the presto, yeah that’s what I meant when I said you would have to pay a new 3 dollar value when you cross to another city but so far I haven’t spent more than 6dollars in a day per city but I definitely can’t wait to hear your tips about cheaper fares.

Welcome boss. a lil money saving tip, go for a plan with less data if you have wifi at home, it would be cheaper by a lot. I am on freedom too, my plan is 5gb, monthly bill + tax is $45(I'm assuming yours cost more). I mainly use phone data for whatsapp, browsing and google maps(I do everyother thing only when I am connected to wifi), my max data usage has never crossed 2gb in a month. To cut cost on google map, download offline map of canada using wifi, that way all google map would use your data for is to get your gps co-ordinates and transit info.

Lastly, you really get mind o! your POF really large for fear to gree you to wage paypal bills. Everyone else I know did it the other way round.

Thanks boss... You’re right it cost way more than that for the first payment, however from next month I’ll be paying 40 dollars + tax for the same 10gb for the next two years, thanks to some end of the year deal I got at the mall; which I’m guessing is your plan actually (with a promo attached to mine). Also, although I have unlimited WiFi at home here, I’m quite the data user.. been here since dec 28 and I’ve used 2.4gb on the road, so my 10gb safety net is gonna come in handy apparently lol. Thanks for the map tip though, I’ll download it right away and I’ll be patiently awaiting your post about the presto pass and transit.

Landing Gist closely mirrors amdman’s (same flight, same day,etc...) except there was a little boy sitting beside me on the trip from Addis to Toronto and his father had no control of him. To top it all, they were French speaking, his monitor wasn’t working properly and he was looking all set to frustrate me on a 16 hour journey, nobody told me before I called the hostess to come and hook him up; he thus proceeded to tap me every time he needed to change his cartoon, but at least he was occupied for the most part. The turbulence and altitude loss were scary no lie, but we made it so thank God.
Opened an account with RBC the next day and got a 2k credit limit, got a prepaid freedom line with unlimited Canada wide calling and global texting plus 10gb, it was expensive af though but will get cheaper from next month and once I switch to postpaid. Moved my money using my friend’s PayPal account (charges were very annoying but I felt safer with the process)
Went to the Catholic Church close to me the next Sunday and on New Year’s Day and the Sunday after that; staying with a friend for the next month while I figure out what to do permanently and also started applying for customer care jobs (because all these sales at the mall need to be funded from somewhere other than my POF, lol)
Had a medical Surveillance condition attached to my COPR so I was to call and report to a particular number within 30 days of landing, which I did; spoke with the nurse and she said she would mail over some documents but I don’t have to go see a doctor until my health insurance kicks in in 3 months so I don’t have to pay for the tests (but the phone call had satisfied the reporting requirement).
Weather’s been absolutely tolerable, I keep hearing that this is a good winter though, but I’m sha grateful it’s good while I adjust. Snow comes from nowhere and disappears just as suddenly, it’s almost comical. The sunset time has been affecting my circadian rhythm though, it’s dark as early as 5pm so my body just wants to sleep but I’m getting used to it now.

Not everyone spends that much on passes in the GTA though, most people's expense would be around $140. The thing is I live in NorthYork, which is a part of Toronto but so far work and classes takes me to Mississauga and Brampton; occasionally I go to York Region(Not the same as Toronto's North York). though Toronto, Mississauga, York Region and Brampton are all parts of the GTA, they each have their own transit agency. Toronto's TTC monthly pass cost about $147, Brampton $124, Mississauga's Miway $130, York Region's YRT $150... So rather than buy multiple bus passes or pay multiple fares while connecting trips, I just purchase the weekly GTA pass for $63, that way I get to use all these GTA transit service at no extra charge and save a lil.

To the best of my knowledge, if you purchase the monthly 150 dollars plan using this option on the presto site instead of selecting a specific transit pass, then you can use your presto card anywhere in the GTA but once you cross over to a new city from Toronto e.g. Brampton, etc, you have to pay a new 3 dollar value.(also valid for 2 hours as in Toronto, I believe)

It was a big issue. And she was flagged to be checked for the next 5 years anytime she comes into Canada.

Ahh that sounds crazy. Better safe than sorry then.
I would have declared it anyway or just clarified with them first but I better abandon the thought altogether.
Thank you!

quick question

Having known that Canada rarely admits 2:2 grads for msc/MBA from the student visa thread n from those university's admission requirements page....

After Landing in Canny as a PR,can they consider taking a 2:2 grad of say 3.3cgpa for MSC/mba......cos I learnt the tuition will be paid as domestic student not international std...

#Justthinking#

Lol, paying domestic tuition doesn’t correlate with CGPA in any way though. Don’t think they factor in residency status when they make the general rules but I suppose if there are candidates on the same level, they might then consider citizens/P.R. first. Just opining smiley

According to the VFS tracker, my wifes passport has been sent from the Accra VO to VAC yesterday. My wife called VFS Lagos and was told that it takes between 5-7 days when the tracking updates to collection.

My question:
Please when someone notices from VFS tracking that his/her passport has been sent from the Accra VO to VFS. How long does it usually take for the passport to be ready for collection (even without VFS email or text notification)?. We are aware of the delay from VFS in updating stuff. Would it be ready but the system has not sent out the pickup mail?

Actually, we are in a tight corner as we have reserved a flight for Thursday. About to make payment hoping that the passport can be picked up by Monday. Any suggestions?

Tracked mine and saw it had been dispatched on 15/11, went there 21/11 and it was there. Didn’t get the sms either; dunno about 4 days though, but if it’s not too inconvenient, you can just go and check on Monday.

P.S: Generally wouldn’t advise purchase of a non-refundable/changeable ticket till you get the passports back.

Hi please what is this about? (I may have missed you first post). Are you in the process of applying for your PR? or does this have to do with something you are processing after you have landed?

I think he’s applying for PR through Canadian Experience Class (CEC).. might be wrong though.

What is XYZ? Theres what we use that acronym for in my place of work(hospital). Am surprised seeing it on Express entry thread now. If the meaning is thesame with our own meaning, there is an XYZ nursing mother of ours who is willing to leave the country but with the fear she wouldnt be able to, is it in anyway possible for an XYZ to get express entry?

That’s not what it means here.
Depends on the cost of the patient’s medication wrt the max threshold.

That’s my dashboard. Already approved and still reviewing ADR. Lol. Mine was an ADR for a new passport though and I did call to confirm that it had been received; so you can call just for your own peace of mind.

No offense but I doubt it. How can they give both of us PPR even without her writing IELTS? Adding her without her IELTS drops our points below 440 ordinarily. So I strongly doubt if IRCC will allow us to bypass the need for Spouse’s IELTS by simply marrying her after AOR.

I’m surprised it’s not reading you had to cheat for. If you don’t believe, that’s your personal problem.

Thanks in advance

Update to the latest Adobe.. think it’s 10 or so. My Adobe wasn’t opening those forms either till I updated.

Hello Seniors in the house

Pls what would you advice booking a direct flight from Lagos to Calgary or booking one to Toronto then having a lay off then hopping on another flight to Calgary?
Am asking because for the direct flight Lagos to Calgary there's about a 2hr wait before a the connecting flight from toronto to calgary. I am worried this might not be enough time to clear with immigrations.

According to the landing stories I’ve read here, if you miss your flight as a result of immigration proceedings you’ll be booked on the next flight.

Vfs update
Got to the office around 11:58 yesterday and spent just about 30 minutes!
So a few updates from the page 1 posts.
Got checked at the gate, was allowed to take my bag in; went upstairs to the second floor as stated here but some guy said Canada was on first floor so instead of arguing I just went down. The security woman told me to go to counter 6 and I was thinking isn’t it counter 1? Didn’t argue again, but immediately I got to counter 6, the lady said counter 1. Went there, the guy told me to sit and he would call me; called a few people before me that came to pick up their passports then he called me up. Gave him 2 copies of my passport, the passport itself, vfs consent form, imm008 and 2 passport photos stamped and dated; the guy doesn’t have any checklist, really just collected it and used a paper clip to hold them together. Asked me to write my number and email on the passport page photocopy then wrote the amount I was to pay and put everything in a red bag. The price has gone up to 16,610 for passport transmission and 550 for sms. Got another tag from the security lady, went to pay at counter 6 then was asked to wait till my new tag was called. Waited about 10 mins then got called to a counter and gave the girl my bag and payment stuff then she typed a few things and gave me a collection slip. Asked how long it might take, she said 2-3 weeks. Thanked her and I was outta there.

PPR!!!!!!!!!

Decision to migrate Feb 14
Ielts April 7
ITA June 13
AOR June 23
Request for further medical tests July 5
IP1 July 10
ADR (updated passport bio data page) Aug 1
ADR sent Aug 9
Gcms notes Ordered Aug 23
Received Sep 25 - everything good
Additional medicals result sent 27 Sep
MEP Oct 2 (when I noticed)
2nd gcms notes ordered Oct 18
IP2 Oct 23
Ghost Update Oct 24
PPR October 30 dated yesterday

Typing out this PPR announcement by faith today Oct 24 and hoping I get to post it before the week runs out.
IELTS : one attempt maxed out
WES : Took 3 whole months; felt like a mini PPR the day I got my report
Work experience : one year of housemanship
CRS : 456 ... the week I got my ITA, I had been so sure of it because it had been hovering in the 440s around that time but surprise of all surprises, that week it was 451! Couldn’t believe how close I had come to not getting it that week. Lol.
Did both medicals and PCC even before opening an express entry profile cos I thought it was so sure for me.
PCC : inspector moshood; the lady told me 7000, immediately I said “ahh that’s not what they said on the Canada group o”, the price changed to 4000. So make sure to state that’s how much you were told and how much you brought.
Medicals : Very nerve wracking experience; got a mail from CIC’s Regional Medical Office on July 5 that I needed additional medical tests. Went to Children’s practice and was told I needed to do sputum tests and a repeat X-ray that would take about 3 months and over 75k extra to complete. Thought it would completely stall my process so I was sad af! Cried my eyes out that day. But then a few days later, I got to IP1 so I heaved a sigh of relief knowing that my processing was still being carried out.
After IP1 the only other update I got was an ADR for a new passport since the old one was expiring in less than 5 months, quickly ran to ikoyi and the process took 8 days of calling and smiling with the man (as if I dint pay complete money o).
POF : About 65% gift deed from my mum. GCMS noted signed gift deed on file. Submitted GTB letter in CIC format and 6 months SOA, car sale docs and proof of ownership.
Read @wizean’s PPR announcement and decided to go and check my account too since CIC had refused to send me mail updates, saw an update. Had to log out and log in again to make sure it wasn’t a glitch that had made it permanent since yesterday. Lol.
Well obviously I dint get to post it last week Lool but it’s just as wonderful this week.
Grateful to God and everyone here; always used to be baffled when people knew next to nothing about the process then I remember most of the things I know were literally from reading page 1 of part 4 of this thread.

ehm I don't think I qualify to answer that. This is because I still haven't decided to settle in Montreal, like I said, I may leave soon. From day 1, i made sure I kept my options open. thanks a lot for your response. Mine came 7days after but sputum test culture only.

You’re welcome.. however, to the best of my knowledge the repeat CXR is standard; 3 months after the initial X-ray to make sure there are no changes. So make sure to double check with your panel physician about that.

@missKeri and anyone else who may need clarity on graduation date and date qualified to work in your profession....your academic studies end date is the date you officially complete your studies. It usually coincides with the date your final results were issued or for most Nigerian schools, the date senate approved your results. Your graduation date is usually the date written on your degree or certificate. Graduation date often comes after your academic studies end date because different schools have different graduation periods. So, if you completed studies say on April 30th, 2017 and your degree was awarded April 30th, 2018, the date you first became qualified to work in your profession is April 30th, 2017.

In my case, I used the date on my MDCN license then uploaded it with an LOE stating that the certificate was issued at the university’s convocation which was a later date than the date I was inducted and became licensed to practice. But you’re right, I could have also gone with the date on my provisional results and done the same.

Many thanks, I get the point about pregnancy. But what I want to know is if the other processes will still proceed if an applicant has a medical history for which IRCC requires additional medical test. Will all other reviews be pending until the result of that test is out and medical is passed?

Process continues... I got a further medical test request about a month post AOR and other processes continued (as per gcms and status change) while I waited 3 months for results then passed medicals.

P.S. : The tests required were sputum test culture plus repeat Chest X-ray which took 10 weeks in total. This was because they thought there was an abnormality on my X-ray and had to rule out Tuberculosis but it’s all clear now so if that’s your case, don’t worry it’ll most likely be fine. Actually gives you the sad certainty that your PPR is definitely not coming within that period which spared me about 3 months of constantly checking my mail. Lol.
