Wow I don't think this looks good anymore. Why is a director's job under threat because a star player criticized something he said? Admittedly Abidal was wrong criticizing his players publicly but that's not the main problem. The problem is that Barca have allowed Messi too much political power that is not healthy for the club. Former Barca captains and legends like Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta never had this level of control and things went smoothly. If Messi is the president of the club as well as a player then make it clear.
