So how did a drunk infantryman get issued a firearm for duty, or how did he have it in the house? The dead 99NA was also at fault: how do you order an obviously drunk soldier to do guard duty with firearms? Gisthoodng: Liverpool Ace Sheyi Ojo has revealed he would consider playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, if invited.
Ojo, who played for England at the U-20 level is currently on loan at French club, Reims.
He is eligible to play for Nigeria because his parents are Nigerians.
And despite playing for England from under-16 to under-21 level with 43 caps, Ojo said he was willing to pitch his tent with the Super Eagles.
“To be honest, I don’t know much about it (Nigeria interest), but if they call me I’d be honoured to go to Nigeria,” the winger told BBC Sport.
“It’s obviously a massive nation. I’m just really focused on club football at the moment, but I’m excited for the future, both club and country.
“My parents are originally from Nigeria as well, so they know a lot about it. They’ve always been keen on the idea (to represent Nigeria) but so far I’ve mainly been focusing on club football.
“It’s starting to get to the time where I have to start thinking about my future. And of course, if Nigeria were to call me now it would be an honour.”
“Of course, if I was to get selected I’d definitely think about it, I’d never turn down Nigeria,” added Ojo.
“I’m from Nigeria originally so it’d be an honour, likewise with England as well. If I keep doing well, opportunities will come by for club and country.”

FlirtyGist: Dr. Sarah Adenike Morocco-Clarke, Nigeria's first female banker, has died at the age of 80. Born on the 13th of May 1938, the Morocco-Clarke matriarch passed away peacefully on Sunday, 16 September 2018, after a short illness.
Sarah Morocco-Clarke, an alumnus of Queen's College Lagos, Nigeria, started her career with First Bank (then Bank of British West Africa, and subsequently Standard Bank) as a pioneer female employee, rose through the ranks at First Bank Nigeria and was made the Services Manager and Secretary to the South Administration, wherein she had a mandate that covered the services of all the First Bank branches in Southern Nigeria.
While she worked in the banking industry, Sarah Morocco-Clarke was the manager of numerous First Bank branches in Lagos and was subsequently made a Regional Manager in charge of Bendel, Ogun and Oyo states.
She was also an Area Manager in the Western part of Nigeria. Popularly known as the 'Iron Lady' , a moniker seemingly taken from references to the then British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Sarah Morocco-Clarke was given this nickname because of her stern mien and no-nonsense attitude professionally.
The Morocco-Clarke matriarch leaves behind six successful children, thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Science/Technology › Re: What You Need To Know About Computer Village In Otigba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria by LZAA: 10:48am On Sep 24, 2018 |
HigherEd: Computer Village is the largest information and communication technology accessory market in Africa located in Otigba, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
It sits on land originally planned by the Lagos State Government to be a residential area. Today, despite her many challenges it serves as the largest marketplace for tech gadgets in Nigeria. Much of Computer Village troubles range from theft to sale of counterfeit or unlicensed products and a government bent on relocating it, regardless, the economic impact is undisputable.
According to a former minister, Computer village generates about $2 billion annually; the community also generates over 60 million naira in levies for the Ikeja metropolitan area.
A quick visit to computer village would leave you astonished as to the hundreds of young adults working across different layers of the service sectors. Some are marketers feeding the technicians with customers needing gadget repairs and equally feeding the sellers with buyers.
It's an amazing ecosystem! However don't be fooled, you could easily get your hands burnt in computer village. Many today have sour tales of purchase gone wrong. Numerous times, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has had to raid the community. Personally, I have also had my own fair share of awry experiences at Computer Village, but today isn't the time for story telling.
As His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode reemphasized the Government's age long stance to relocate Computer Village to Kantagora in Abule Egba area of the State, the news has been greeted with nostalgia in Lagos. Some are of the opinion the state should retain her initial master plan designating the area as a residential place, while others especially in the business community think computer village in her present community could be transformed and remodeled into a hive of innovation and a hub for tech startups.
Today, in the business community a number of strategic meetings are taking place to see if the current Computer Village can be salvaged. This is important because much of the growth of computer village has been fueled by creativity, spontaneity and deregulation. In contrast today, Silicon valley, California is home to the world's leading tech companies such as Apple, HP, Adobe, Twitter, Facebook etc. Silicon Valley has enriched her metropolitan area so much so that the combination of San Jose, Santa Clara and southern bay's GDP of $235 billion is nearly equal to Ireland's entire GDP of $238 Billion. Silicon Valley is also home to 74 billionaires in USD. A combination of Apple and Facebook employ about 44,000 people.
Can the Computer Village of Otigba community become Nigeria's Silicon Valley?
Whatever the outcome may become in the near future, one thing is clear, individuals working in Computer Village are averse to the idea of relocating to Kantagora. It is in fact unclear whether the Computer Village we know can be replicated elsewhere. Whatever the case, if it survives it would be a product of a deliberate attempt to save it by the Government and private sector. Its impact will be phenomenal!

Politics › Re: Nigeria Air To Cost Nation N180b Yearly by LZAA: 5:38pm On Sep 23, 2018 |
edunwablog: Except for its indefinite suspension last Wednesday, the national carrier, Nigeria Air, was to cost Nigeria at least N180b yearly for the next 10 years, operators have said.
Local airlines operators, who are privy to the actual business design, as well as, the cost implications said the financial commitment, weaved into the five per cent equity, was mandatory to keep the airline up and running.Even though the Minister of State for Aviation Hadi Sirika did not give reasons for the suspension of the airline, which he earlier said would takeoff on December 24, 2018, The Guardian’s investigation showed that the development was not unconnected with investors’ apathy, ownership structure and funding issues.
It was further learnt that the huge financial request forced the last Federal Executive Council (FEC) to drop Nigeria Air off the priority list, since it was not budgeted for anywhere. While the operators described the indefinite suspension of the launch as a step in the right direction, sources hinted that over a billion naira had been sunk into the business case design, work by the transaction advisory team in the last two years, and unveiling of the logo in London recently.
According to the Chairman of the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON), Capt. Nogie Meggison, setting up an airline requires huge capital investment and that explains why national carriers are no long fashionable around the world. Meggison said it was in this light that AON continued to call for a rethink, especially given the tough economic situation in the country and the fact that “it is a moribund idea”
Meggison said: “Setting up of National Carrier will cost Nigeria at least N1.08t ($3b). A single Boeing 777 as of today costs about N115.2b ($320m).“Is it wise and should it be our priority as a nation to take $3b from our coffers today and put into a venture that will for sure go down the drain within a maximum of five years it will take to establish a national carrier?
Also, bear in mind that the national carrier will need an additional cash injection of N180bn ($500m) subsidy per year on average for the next 10 years to keep the airline afloat, while about 97 per cent of the 200 million Nigerian masses today are grappling for the basic necessities of life; food, shelter, electricity, water, education and good roads,” he said.
Sharing AON’s view that owning a national airline because of national pride is out of vogue because it is capital intensive is Chief Executive Officer of Topbrass Aviation Services, Capt. Roland Iyayi. Iyayi said: “Just recently, the South African government had to inject $2m into the South African Airways, but how many times will a government be bailing out a national airline? There was a time Alitalia was bailed out by the Italian government, and when it found out that it was no longer tenable, it turned to privatisation.
“I am a businessman. If I have already lost $5m and I see that my continued exposure to the same enterprise would amount to $100m loss, I would choose, which of the two options is cheaper for me. And that will be $5. Meaning that no matter how much the government has expended now, it will be pittance to what it will lose in the long term. For me, I would stop now instead of doing something that is not sustainable.”
The Federal Government in July unveiled the name and logo of the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air, at the Farnborough International Public Airshow in London. As contained in the Outline Business Case (OBC) approved by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and disclosed to the public, the airline is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project, with 95 per cent share pushed to investors while the government will own the rest.To get the new national carrier start off, the government will be injecting N3.168b ($8.8m) as the startup capital. It was learnt that the N3.2b is part-payment for the government’s five per cent equity in the investment, whose takeoff fund in the next three years of operation has been put at N108b ($300m).

Xavier5: The issue of bride price is a cultural thing. There are societies and cultures that allows/ practice it (African Society) and there are cultures and societies that doesn't allow or permit it (Western Worlds). Coming down to those that allows it, there are cultures and societies that mandates only men to pay bride price (African Society) whereas there are cultures and societies that mandates only women to pay bride price (Indian Society). So you see, paying of bride price is a cultural thing. If your culture permits you as a man or woman to pay bride price, my friend do it, but if your culture doesn't permit you to pay it, good for you.
The opinion of one person can't change the cultural practice of a society. Because you aren't a fan of it, doesn't mean, they aren't people who aren't fans of it. If she isn't a fan of bride price, (well that's her opinion), she should deal with it because Cultures and traditions won't change because of her.
I that isn't a fan of homosexualism and that always kicks against it, has that made it to be abolished? Of course not, likewise she not being a fan of bride price payment doesn't mean bride price should be abolished, It is a practice of the African culture and society. Let her deal with it.

Princedapace: No bro. This idea is wrong. What matters in marriage is the love and understanding between the two people.. Wedding shouldn't be expensive. It should be made easy. The list mist families present is outrageous.. Infact it was never like this in the past.
Ask ur parents, wedding was not this expensive back then. Something is wrong somewhere now and elders and families are taking advantage of this, especially in poor homes..
I had a lady I loved so much and she loved me too but we couldn't marry becus of the marriage rite lists.
Today, I'm getting married to some one I love less.. She her self got married to another guy who could afford the traditional marriage rite but she is not happy. She tells me that. U see stuff like this are the reason many young people marry partners they aren't too fond of..
Just the way we spend so much money to bury the dead. Pls there are things we shouldn't be doing at this stage.. Poor ppl get married even with the bride price so wat are u saying? Do u know how much they use for cremation abroad? All this boils down to choice |
