Macmilla: Chairman, one quick question. In removing a cat converter, which method is better between gutting and straight piping? I have a 2005 accord with a gutted cat, it sounds a bit like a leaking exhaust and I'm not sure why. Probably due to the absent cat. I've had 3 different panel beaters look at it and all insisted there was no leak. I don't mind living with the sound as it is, but I was wondering if putting a straight pipe in place of the cat pot will make it sound better or add any benefit overall. Thanks. @ GAZZUZZ |

xcitedjay: 1. The vehicle has a few imperfections since it is the first year model of that generation. Hence, a higher than normal maintenance cost. 2. The v6 engine used in the Honda Accord v6 is not one of Honda's best engine. At least in that generation. 3. A replacement engine is quite pricey. Replacing any part in that engine will also be expensive. 4. As a v6, the fuel consumption is relatively higher. 5. Some of the parts in the v6 models are more costly than those in the 4 cylinder model. A good example is the engine seat. 6. There is that tendency for a mechanic working on your vehicle to want to charge you higher since the vehicle looks a bit luxurious. 7. Finally, the above individually might not seem all that significant but together they add to the overall maintenance expenses. Let us analyze each item individually. 1. Honda has had a lot of first model years and this not by any means the worst of them. A lot of people here own first model year accords and I don't see them crying. I don't see how that makes it expensive to maintain. 2. This is the only valid point I see here. That is because of the notorious VCM technology. But there's a way to disable the VCM and have a normal V6 engine. In my opinion, Honda V6 are more durable than their 4cyl. 3. Cost is a relative term. A lot of engines are more expensive than that engine. Even a Toyota 2az is more expensive if I'm not mistaken. 4. Big power big fuel. This applies to every single car brand and model out there. Everybody knows v60 takes more fuel. That is no longer news. But that is not the way Nigerians make it look. All he needs do is make sure that the engine is in good condition. Do more research on this. 5. Cost is a relative term. 6. This is actually silly. 7. To me, it doesn't. Some cars are just more expensive than others. It is a normal thing. |

xcitedjay: If the radiator fan wasn't rotating well, your vehicle would have been overheating. Allowing the mechanic to remove the thermostat was a mistake. The radiator fan shouldn't be running constantly, especially upon starting the car. Right now, the continuous fan operation prevents the engine from reaching its optimal operating temperature. This results in increased fuel consumption as the engine uses up more fuel trying to compensate for the overcooling caused by the constantly running fan.
Personally, when I'm looking at buying a used car, once I see that the thermostat have been taken out, I'm passing. Finally, that Honda Accord 2008 v6 is a high maintenance car. Best of luck with that vehicle. Could you give more details on the boldened? |

IAmHim1: You've worked for money all your life and now I'm explaining how what you've toiled for for years endlessly is being created in a commercial bank level
In addition to what you think you know, You've also understood:
1) how bank create loans from your deposit 2) inflation and what causes inflation 3) what a debt based economy is. 4) you know what bank credit is 5) you know what would happen if everyone in Nigeria were to walk into their respective banks to demand their physical cash back
6) you know how money is injected into the economy by the commercial banks
7) you know the hidden reason behind the creation of the cashless policy
you know why Banks discourage savings at home
9) you know why Bitcoin and crypto will keep gaining value the more currency keeps gaining multiplying and also why crypto value drops sometimes.
10) you know the economic stages that leads to a recession.
As If all of this is not enough,
YOU ALSO KNOW WHY YOUR MONTHLY SALARY PAYMENT METHOD IS A SCAM and why those who are doing Ajo or yearly contributions are playing themselves
Because if currency is being multiplied on a massive level like this, what makes you think your monthly salary has not lost value before it gets to you by month end in this inflationary economy
Fine, you may not be on salary. But what about your loved ones.
Money takes 30 days or so to get into the hands of corporate workers but by then those who got the money first have bought all relevant assets and you're left with left overs to use your inflated salary to purchase and smile.
WHY ISNT SALARIES PAID ON A WEEKLY BASIS. before month end, don't you think it would have lost its value. Google the value of a dollar when it was created and Google its value now. Google the price of housing in the 1900s and Google its value now. What do you think happened
Those doing Ajo or annual contributions or whatever...what exactly are they saving for. What's the essence of saving when after you save, you don't use your money to buy assets THAT CAN NOT ONLY BEAT INFLATION BUT BRING PROFITS FOR YOU
why isn't our payment system per hour as opposed to other countries operating on a fractional reserve banking.
Now look around you: HOW MANY ASSETS FO YOU THINK YOU CAN PURCHASE IN NIGERIA THAT CAN BEAT NIGERIA INFLATION AND NOT ONLY BRING A PROFIT TO YOU IN NIGERIA.
you think it's random that people never excape the rat race.
Still typing
Look around you.
Walk up to different salary earners...even those in expensive suits and tell them what their opinion is on a weekly salary payment in Nigeria
Do you know that some will kick against it because THEY WANT THEIR MONEY TO COME ONCE at the end of the month...
A lot of economic activity was tied monthly so it can give people the illusion that their monthly salary is the real deal when it is not. Interest rates release and all...but in between the Month, big economic changes happen. You think it's random
If monthly salary was the real deal, Fractional Reserve multiplication should only happen every month end and people should be warned beforehand what their money value iams about to be reduced to after the money multiplication takes place without the production of local goods to back it up
But fractional reserve banking is happening even as I'm typing this and it will keep happening even after I'm done. How many newspaper in Nigeria carry such a news. How many huh
People's salary is losing value BY THE SECOND but they don't even know what's up
Trust me: YOU HAVE NOT READ MY POST AND THE LINKED POST I SUGGESTED YOU READ ALSO. You only glanced at it
and get that entitlement vibe off your comment. If newspapers and DStv and social Media carried this type of information, wouldn't it be better for the average man
But I don't see you yelling at Zuckerberg or Punch or South Africa. But here you are after getting it for free n sounding like low budget king Kong
Learn to get that entitlement vibe off your future comment. Would be better for you in the long run. Nobody owes you anything. Everyone has their freewill but people seem to misuse it...that's all
Freedom comes with limitations as I've explained in my other post. You're free to drive on the road with your vehicle but not free to pass the speed limits. You're free to eat what you like but you wouldn't willingly swallow pois on now would you Oga, you can insult me as much as you like, but you have not answered my question. What should we do with all this "privileged" information "our savior" has given us? What can we do with it? How is this information going to better my life or my finances? You have listed all you think I learned, but you didn't mention one way any of those things I learned will make my life better. I'm still waiting for an answer. |

I almost cried seeing how sludge has over taken my engine. After changing d seal, i bought engine flush, poured it & idled d car for 5mins, drained d oil, opened d sump & brought out d engine screen (filter) i bought fuel & all were thoroughly cleaned together with d valve cover. Coupled back, bought external filter & serviced with total quartz 5000 20w50. This engine strong aswear, it still runs & responds fine with AC. Pls how do i clean this mess to ensure my engine is clean again? I will be changing this oil again in june (2months). Attached is d opened engine top, d valve cover & d engine bottom.
@gazzuzz There lies your problem. Is that the recommended oil? |

Nsiehi: I so much appreciate the detailed explanation, Sir. Before the thermostat was removed, the radiator worked only after few minutes of driving the vehicle, not immediately the ignition is turned on. I don't know why I was so gullible to believe him without a second opinion, perhaps because he has been a personal mechanic for a little over 10 years now. I wish to reinstall the thermostat, is it safe to do this? Oga, what is the color of your problem? Your car was doing well till you allowed your kazeem friend kazeemize it. Common sense should tell you to undo whatever he did. Someone has also taken time to explain to you the importance of thermostat and you are still asking if you should return it. No, don't reinstall it. Infact, also remove your radiator. You don't need it. It is only for Sahara desert people but you are in Nigeria. |

My engine produces this particular rattling sound especially when I engage the car on drive/reverse and gets worse when I turn on the Ac. I was advised to change the adjuster(pulleys) which I did. Unfortunately, it changed nothing. I still hear the sounds. Any advise?? I don't know much about Toyotas, but I have common sense. Why do you keep accusing your adjuster when you have replaced it and the sound didn't change? Shouldn't you take your attention to something else? I'll advise you to make a short video so people can hear for themselves and advise you accordingly. Having said that, anything driven by your accessory belt can be the culprit. Not long ago, I had a rattling noise from that belt side on my Honda that ended up coming from my timing chain. So keep an open mind while tracing the sound. |

In this case, how do I deal with the rpm issue that falls to 500rpm when my car is idle and ac is on?
Since there's no IACV to clean or change. Scan and fix all codes if any Clean your throttle body Do idle relearn If all these fails, then your car needs further investigation. Don't forget your alternator, ac system and power steering system when doing the further investigation. Btw, which car is this? Do you have full power or is your engine sluggish?

remi4ever: We open the throttle body according to a video, but no IACV found. my car is originally called Honda Inspire, because the engine bay is different from the regular evil spirit Chai! Bro, all Hondas (and most others) that use drive-by-wire do not use IAC valve. The computer controls the idle through the throttle actuator. So a separate IAC valve is not needed. |
