aanumama: When the time comes, each and every tribe will decide which way forward!
But isn't it right to think over these things now so as not to cause problems at the last moment

Let us know ourselves now
Culture › Oduduwa Nation: Who Are Those Part Of It? by macof(op):
The realization of Ile-Oodua being an independent Nation is much desired by Many Yoruba people in Nigeria

But who are those that should be part of this Nation?

The Ekiti, Ijesha, Ijebu, Ife, Oyo, Eko Awori, Yagba people etc. are all referred as Yoruba with the feeling of "ONENESS".and "FELLOWSHIP"
The Isekiri people in Delta state have a strong link with the above mentioned tribes, similarities in language and traditions with a fairly distinct Cultural practice and spirituality, not to mention historical connections

The Edo are a vast people themselves and have since the Igodomigodo era been Allies with Their Western Neighbors notably Eko Awori, Ife and Owo. With the Oba of Benin being the eldest son of Oranmiyan, making him brother to Alaafin of Oyo

Oodua descendants also live in Benin republic having established ancient Kingdoms of Ketu, Sabe and Popo.

Alaketu- being Oduduwa's eldest grandson

The Nations of Sabe and Popo have been displaced over Wars against Dahomey and The French but it's indegenes have been able to keep themselves alive.

Other Towns and communities that have major Yoruba descent are Porto-Novo(Ajase), Cotonou, Dassa, Ouidah and Alada. Mostly captured from Dahomey who were a colony of Oyo.

Other Communities exist in Togo and Ghana

Now could Benin republic be affected by Nigeria's disintegration to form a greater Oduduwa Nation?

And where do the Edo lay?

rationalmind: I need you to clarify something before I reply. Are you actually saying for example what we call lightening in English is what yorubas refer as sango.
Oyo language Lightening is called Mona or Mona Mona
could be literally transliterated as "Light bringer"

Which is one of Sango's praises

Sango is the force that brings lightening

Ishilove: Jesus is the anglicization of the hebrew 'Yeshua'.
Madam. Abeg explain this

Lemme explain mine

Yeshua/Yahshua/Y'hoshua (depending on your understanding of Hebrew alphabets and pronunciation)
Was the same name of Joshua.

Now tell me how and why the above name(Yeshua) was turned to Joshua in English for the Israeli Messiah who led Israel against Canaan

But the same name(Yeshua) was changed to Jesus. Pronounced "hey-zeus" by many

Hail Zeus The God of Christians

rationalmind: Hehehehe, rapture ready is really doing a great job. All pagans have been doing is introducing the "you too" fallacy.

Your arguments have been very logical and sound.

Like i did say, pagans (at least the ones ive met on nairaland) just substituted some myths for other myths
Spirituality is meant to be progressive like science.

Some stories which are told to help understand these forces better have been lost, some have been updated, some have been retained.

Science as a part of life is wat spirituality has exposed but with deeper insights and much symbolism
Science tells us that lightning is as a result of, I repeat, electrical arc discharge between a negatively charged atmosphere and a positively charged earth.

Not a result of some cranky yoruba fella hurling lightning bolts after drinking ogogoro...

You ever hear of the god thor in greek mythology? What, Sango is his evil twin? The Greeks have smartened up and put thor in the museums and tourist centres where he belongs. The yoruba are smartening up too.

So Sango decided not to use his mighty lightning bolts to save his own shrines and alters, and now he is surprised nobody worships him? Yeah, that sounds totally believable.

A more logical explanation is - he's just a myth. Like thor.

No he wasn't. Did you read what I asked you to?

Hitler is paying for that even till today...

Those stats you posted are nonsense. Sorry.
Smh u lack the blessings of Orunmila

Electric charges are wat produces lightening true. The same electric charges that keeps the body alive.

These are things our ancestors have known for thousands of years- wat modern science is just finding out(possible through the knowledge of ancient spirituality)

In santeria Cuba, Sango is the Patron God, he is praised as "he who keeps the body going" the Lukumi people have known this for centuries.

In Igbo, Alusi Amadioha is the counterpart of Sango. Amadioha is created as the "one who split the cotton to form gender"

Thor is Scandinavian and not Greek same as Amadioha and Sango

Many people steal Sango's statues used as Idols...he doesn't strike them with lightening. many have built down his shrines he doesn't strike them.

But he keeps showing love and doing his duty to the universe which NOBODY CAN CHANGE

Juju is not evil. Blood money is over exaggerated by Nollywood. And most of wat u watch about Traditionalist are pure lies against traditional ways

Voodoo is a spiritual practice, it's not about killing for money or anything like that.

Ritual killing is not part of vodun, or any African pagan practice. (at least known that I know of)

Juju is also everywhere in the world, it's wat English call "magic" and "sorcery"
In a deeper thought, juju is advanced science.

Amadioha and many of your Alusi don't fight for worshipers. Freedom is paganism.

That's why we don't evangelize in the first place. We don't need evangelism, every sensible human being should live with his consciousness that is linked with his identity. You reject ur identity u can't be a pagan.

Christianity Etc › Re: Concerning The Religious View Of Good And Evil by macof(m): 6:15am On Dec 12, 2013
In my understanding good and evil don't really exist.

All is same force being projected in different ways such that the human consciousness decides against one and accepts the other.

It's not God dat determines wat is good for us, it is US that determines it.

in ur village, Kissing outside might be an evil act while in another kissing outside is good.

Black cats could be evil while in another village black cats bring goodluck.

Killing of twins was evil in major pre-colonial African nations but it wasn't in calabar.

The messed up thing is that when humans make laws they tend to claim their God made it.

3. Christians are brainwashed to think Israel's God is their God, they forget their ancestors and don't know their history trying to trace their origin to Israel

tonychristopher: are you now a yoruba man not an ika man, so you are an authority in this field, Ekit is yoruba and they just have dialect.... why are you cionfused
Ekiti is not Yoruba

Have u been following them thread at all?

Ekiti and Yoruba have the same origin but speak totally different languages.

The Ekiti settlement is well over 5000yrs according to oral history. The Yagba people of Kogi and Igala seem to have come from Ekiti atleast in little waves of migrations(just my assumption here), that's why the Yagba and Ekiti greet the same way "Okun" or "Era" not "Eku" as The West side uses

Idole(ido, osi, ifaki, oye) is a tribe with it's dialect in Ekiti different from Ado and the rest.

Can u show a list of word similarities between Ekiti and Yoruba?
I would show more word difference and u would see that the languages are structured differently.

1. ekiti accent is fast, very fast like chanting incantations in Yoruba movies, that it's difficult to comprehend

2. A lot of words are different

3. Where a word is written the same, the accent changes the tone of the word that it won't make sense in Yoruba.

Ekiti people speaks Yoruba too very well because Ekiti was once an Oyo colony, but Ekiti has it's own language.
