Culture › Re: Ooni Of Ife Warns Against Distortion Of Yoruba History by macof(m): 12:24pm On Dec 13, 2013 |
mikeapollo: You people are very funny. It is only in your imagination that Oyo would be superior to Ife. I am not from Ife! All the recognition given to Oyo came from their military prowess. Military prowess leads to political relevance. That is all Oyo had. But Yoruba histotry is deeper than that. If the Oyo kingdom/people trace their roots to Ife(Oranmiyan's home), then how can the Alaafin of Oyo(a decendant) be greater than ruler of The Source? Why was Oranmiyan's body buried in Ife? What does that tell you? If Alaafin of Oyo cannot show you the grave/tomb of Oranmyan in Oyo, then what does that tell you? Oranamiyan'd grave is in Ife, his home! Oranmiyan had a mystical staff(rod) called Opa Oranmiyan(Oranmiyan's Staff, which was more like his guide/power, just like Moses had. Where is the staff standing today? It is in Ife, not Oyo! What does that tell you? Oranmiyan left Ife to Bini, before he lleft to establish Oyo. How does Oyo become superior to Kingdoms that had existed long before it?
It beats my imagination how people could allow petty politics to cloud their sense of judgement.
Even first generation Yoruba kingdoms like Ijesha, Ila, Egba, Ijebu, Ekiti etc all trace their roots to Ife. So how could Oyo be superior to Ife? How many Yoruba first genertaion Yoruba kingdoms originated from Oyo?.
Oyo might have expanded in territorial land mass because of military conquest. Wherever you conquer in war becomes part of your territory and you can start collecting taxes, royalities (Isakole) from the people......not because they had any historical, cultural, ancestral, or spirirtual superiority over Ife. IMPOSSIBLE
Go and cleanse yourself of bias and you would appreciate/understand your history better!
Even Yoruba in diaspora eg Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela etc know that Ife is their ancestral home. The Ga people in Ghana also have a part of theirt histroy that traces their roots to Ife......but here we are.....Nigerians who are too biased to say the truth! It's settled Alaafin and Ooni are equal simple! |

DerideGull: Nelson Mandela did not win anything. Mandela was imprisoned due to terrorist acts against Apartheid regime in South Africa. He was set free by the same Europeans who imprisoned him in lieu to maintain status quo in RSA except Apartheid. It is an act of goofiness to say that Mandela was spotless. You are definitely drunk on irresponsible sentiment. The hate has begun |

FrancisTony: Isaiah 7:10 moreover the lord spoke again to ahaz saying, 11. Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God, ask it either in the depth or in the height above. 12. But ahaz sai, i will not ask nor will i test the Lord 13. Then he said, hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also. 14. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign, behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name, Immanuel. 15. Curds and honey he shall eat that he may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. mathew 1: 22 so all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying 23. Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which is translated, God is with us.
Mathew is talking abt Jesus. Isaiah is also talking about Jesus, but i'm confuse abt the bolded part. Thanks #shalom Lies and lies. Immanuel is not Yeshua |

emotional: @Ghostsparta Thanks for taking your time to enlighten pple like myself.pls permit me to put these questions to u here(unrelated to topic) after reading most of your writings on NL. 1.Is there any relationship between 'awon-iya-onshoronga' (eleye/aje) and Orunmila? Cos I ve always think that they'eleye/aje' are d ones behind it. 2.Is it normal for babalawo to prescribe/suggest or recommend orunmila as a solution(to deliver/protect)to some spiritual problems? 3.Is being a child/ worshiper of orunmila a choice or destiny?e.g during ifa consultation, Babalawo asking his client who knew nothing abt Orunmila, where is his Orunmila/ifa(I mean the visible items seen on the altar or shrine) 4.What is ifa and Orunmila, Any difference? 5.Can Ifa be consult on phone or is just a scam? Pls Note: terms used are based on my little knowledge abt this things. preferred mailing pls let me know 1. I don't know much about Eleye/Aje but their roles are not about Money, They are simply old wise women who have broken the veil between Spiritual and Physical. So anything is possible with them. Orunmila is the omniscient force of wisdom and knowledge much of An Aje's work can be credited to Orunmila and also Esu. Note: Aje are not evil, neither are they blood suckers. They are advocates of balance 2. Orunmila knows the solution to all problems. That is why people go to his priests in the first place, they recommend solution to the problems u have, sometimes giving directives to connect with other Orisha who are key to such solution 3. Both. But even at choice Ori is always involved 4. The Names are used interchangeably, but Ifa is like Orunmila's scriptures. 5. Ifa can only be consulted by a trained Babalawo using Opele and Opon. It's a system non-initiates like u and I can never understand |
