So many times in the Bible, Jesus taught and spoke figuratively and so His teachings must not be taken literally. Thus, if the reader is not careful, they’ll completely misunderstand His message. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” John 14:1-4 To start with, mansion doesn’t mean your earthly building with expensive furniture, modern devices, lighting and every bling bling you can ever imagine. Here, Jesus used the Greek word “mone“ which means dwelling. Likewise, house is not the regular house you live in. The Greek word is ”oikia“ which means family or household . If you ever think Jesus is referring to an inhabited mansion here then you are under a great delusion. So what is He talking about? He’s going to prepare a place. This place is not actually a “place“. This place is a person. This place is His body- the body of Christ, where all believers are right now. That is why He said in verse 3 : “ ..........I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. “ And when did He prepare this place? It was after the resurrection! So, where are you now? You are in Him, He is in you . Have you not read it somewhere in the scripture? “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” ~Ephesians 2:6 KJV You are where He is. We are now together with Him.Therefore we can rewrite verse 2: “ In my father’s family, there are many dwellings/room/accommodation : If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a body for you that will accommodate all believers. All that are justified by faith. This body/ place is the body of Christ. Because of the resurrection, He lives in us. Because He lives in us, all the deadness is gone. Anger makes way for forgiveness, insecurity metamorphoses into confidence. Self-centerdness disappears for compassion and generosity. Glory! |
[quote author=Perfectbeing post=89566444]One day Jesus went to his father and said "father I have found myself a wife" . And the father said, tell us what she looks like. And Jesus said she is a prostitute, a liar, a thief, whoremonger, witch, back bitter, deceiver, unfaithful, a cheat, an abuser, selfish, murderer, hater, sick, poor, impoverished, and her father is the devil and everything about her is wrong but I love her. And God said TAKE HER SON LET'S HAVE A FEAST! Oh la la ! This is a knockout punch to all the religious folks out there. |
The religious man subjects himself to a set of rules or laws. He doesn't steal, fornicate, tell lies, etc. He doesn't subject himself to the giver of the laws, neither does he have a relationship with Him, but he'd rather subject himself to the laws themselves. He is therefore a moral being who may have, or may not have the Spirit of God in him. He lives by these laws and judges others by the standards of the laws. Because laws come with punishments, the religious man is not acquainted with mercy and grace! However, the spiritual man subjects himself to the guidance of the Spirit inside of him. He gets his inspiration from Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV Through the energy and direction of the Spirit he makes decisions and is able to obey the laws unlike the religious man that draws strength from the flesh. He maintains an unbroken relationship with the Spirit inside of him. To this man, what is most important is , "what says the Spirit of God?" |
[quote author=Maximus69 post=89153425]Jesus told his followers not to tell people that he is the Christ, to avoid attaching the title to him while he's still in their midst, but they should do so after he's gone. You err sir. That was not the reason Jesus asked his followers not to address him as Christ. |
[quote author=OpenYourEyes1 post=89310096]“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever"— John 14:15-16 If you truely love GOD you won't break HIS law. According to Jesus in John 14:15, what are these commandments? |
[quote author=Yungmil post=89380239]Does it mean he is the only desciple Jesus loved? and if so what about the rest It may interest you to know that nobody in the Bible refers to John as the beloved or the disciple whom Jesus loves, except John himself . John received the revelation of God’s love early on and took great pride in it. It’s like you calling yourself “child of the most high.” This doesn’t prove in anyway that other Christians are not children of God. Some may not even see themselves as children or sons, but that doesn’t deny the fact that they are. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” John 1:12 NKJV I believe this is clear to you. |
[quote author=DAramis post=89365359]Well, I don't know what prompted you to ask the question but I would say that I, as an individual try as much as possible to serve God to the best of my ability. Also, I try to be just and fair in my dealings with my fellow man and woman. That of course, doesn't mean that, I have no shortcomings (Would be a lie to say such). If being born again means someone without a sin or blemishes, then, the answer you seek is as good as mine. Cc madegreatbygrace A born again is not that person without sins and blemishes. It is also not a person that is TRYING to live a good and holy life. A man becomes born again when he hears the gospel and believes. It’s as simple as that. Don’t let anyone deceive you , ok ? |
[quote author=DAramis post=60801211]Hello forumites, Good morning. There is this song that was sang in the church yesterday and I would like to obtain the name and possibly download it from the internet. If it is a hymn, I would like to know the number. It goes like this.... Abide with me, abide with me. Abide with me o lord my God. Forsake me not and protect my cause. Tho are my strength, abide with me. I am expecting the name please. Secondly, someone made this comment while he was trying to explain the condition of this country. I would like to know the exact chapter it is in the Bible (not sure Google can since it is not a a full verse). The comment is this... when people say there is casting down, you will say there is lifting up I would also like someone to give detailed explanation on it... Possibly the scenario in the Bible that warrant such statements and its significance to the present economic situation in the country. Sorry to ask you this.............. are you born again? |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89324545]I will ask you to explain later, that's why I asked for a yes or no answer. I ask for names only, I can ask for details if I wanted to and if I need reference I'll let you know, I am only asking for that particular one of which you answered before adding some other stuff I guess. Please try reading Acts 2 again and understand the context of the chapter, I don't want to add to that Acts 2 otherwise we will derail. It's just a direct question I asked with name required as answer, if you want to add a sentence with the name e.g It is the Lord that is behind the 10 plagues or it is Jesus that fed 5000 men fine, I can request for explanation later on how Jesus did the five loaves of bread and two fishes, then 12 basket was filled etc with verse. Ok sir. Did i finally answer the question? |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89323317]Now we have entered gospel, I know derailing will start but, Do you even know what the gospel is... It's is a yes or no question, e.g do you know Nigeria is in Africa--> yes, No) I am not asking (longitudinal degrees, equatorial degrees, tropic no, just a yes or no) well I am not looking for an answer to what the gospel is, cause you'll start cutting passage. Anyways, if you want to discuss gospel If the answer to every question is yes or no, then Apostle Peter didn’t need to go through that long sermon he went through in Acts 2: 14-39 . That was why he won three thousand souls unto the Lord. The Bible says he used many words . “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”” Acts 2:40 NKJV This is not all about you. I’m sure there are some that have learnt one or two things. There are some that will still learn. So my brother, don’t take it personal. |
[quote author=ublight post=89320010]i perceive Abel Damina. However, u dont carry that strength of conviction that he carries. U still need to study more. Naaa..... I don’t listen to him . Whatever strength of conviction it is, it will certainly come with time. Mind you, the power of persuasion and conviction, in some people is stronger when they preach, than when they write. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89319552]“who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it. ”” Acts 7:53 NKJV Now, from the above, from whom did Moses receive the law? DID YOU READ UP WHAT WAS COMING TO THAT, check the context of the content first. Deuteronomy 5:6-21 ‘I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ‘You shall have no other gods before Me. (Do you serve Angels of God, if you understand) “What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.” Galatians 3:19 NKJV Did you check out that God told Mary about Jesus birth will come from her, yes an angel came and said everything. But, God told her if only you understand what I meant. Do you know David kill Uriah, I know it's not his sword but, do you know. The rest epistle are talking about love, now comes the derailing. Please give names to my questions, you haven't but, expecting answers from me Seems you don’t understand your Bible. “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” Hebrews 4:2 NKJV God’s will for the children of Israel was faith in the gospel. Because they rejected the gospel, the law was given to them. Because the law is totally against God’s will and nature, he couldn’t partake in its administration and enforcement. That was why angels were appointed as law enforcement officials. The angels need not take orders from God because they were given full responsibilities. Most of the things attributed to God in the Old Testament were actually carried out by angels . In the case of salvation , God was actively involved in giving direct instructions to angels. Redemption has always been, and still is, the Father’s will and heartbeat. Period. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89317718]Madegreatbygrace If I had answered all your questions like this "I’d answer your question" you won't really like it. I am still expecting the names. Here again below, do quote the post This is the question, please I don't need epistle or story book and please answer with name(s) only e.g Who denied Jesus --- Peter Who is known as the lamb of God --- Jesus . . . 1. Who hardened Pharaoh's heart at Exodus 9 vs 12 2. From Exodus 7 vs 3-4 --> your version; “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.” ? Who will do all this mentioned here. God bless I am expecting you to ditch it again or do the opposite of the answer type. It is also written in another place : “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” John 1:18 NKJV I love the rendering of the Amplified version “No one has seen God [His essence, His divine nature] at any time; the [One and] only begotten God [that is, the unique Son] who is in the intimate presence of the Father, He has explained Him [and interpreted and revealed the awesome wonder of the Father].” John 1:18 AMP So anyone that spoke or wrote about God in the Old Testament before light came did so presumptuously. I’m not saying that all that was written was false, i only refer to those things that pertain to God’s nature. Thus, the interpretation and understanding of The Father is in The Son. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89319681]Let's be honest with ourselves, I didn't interrupt you with mine instead it's yours that cut mine and I didn't complained. To your question my dear brother, it is clear to everyone what Exodus 9 : 12 says. “But the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh; and he did not heed them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses.” Exodus 9:12 NKJV It says God hardened the heart of Pharaoh. It is clearly stated there. So then are many things written in the Bible that have been misunderstood. For example, Job and his three friends said so many wrong things about God in the Bible. So the fact that something is written in the Bible doesn’t mean it is completely true. It must be filtered and validated by God’s nature and character. You must know that Old Testament writers due to the darkness in them, wrote in shadows and partial truth. At this point, they were alienated from God. “having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;” Ephesians 4:18 NKJV Moses wrote Genesis to Deuteronomy and this verse says Moses’s understanding was darkened because of the blindness of his heart . Darkness is the absence of light and this light is Christ. Since light was absent, he couldn’t completely know and understand God’s nature. This is why most of the evils in the Old Testament was attributed to God. Back to Job and co, from chapters 1- 37, Job and his three friends were spewing lies about God. They thought they knew Him, and their arguments sounded rational. But God is not a rational being. Until God spoke in chapter 38: “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: “Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?” Job 38:1-2 NKJV In other words, who is this person that has been spewing lies about me, because of the wrong knowledge he had about me. Despite what God says here, it amazes me that Christians still build their doctrines around the book of Job. God is basically saying here that most of the things said about Him was wrong. After God revealed Himself to Job and co, then he repented because he now has a new revelation about God’s nature. “Then Job answered the LORD and said: “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’ “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.” Job 42:1-5 NKJV Note that if God had not spoken in chapter 38 to reveal himself, job would go to his grave with the inaccurate knowledge of God. That is what is happening to most Christians today. They read the beginning without reading the end, and therefore arrive at the wrong conclusion. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89319681]Let's be honest with ourselves, I didn't interrupt you with mine instead it's yours that cut mine and I didn't complained. You didn’t ask me not to interrupt. I would have obeyed you if you have. |
[quote author=ublight post=89318921]who is your teacher? The Holy Spirit. Why did you ask my sister? |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89318885]You haven't given me the names, so what is it @ previous. Don't tell me it's here or there, just simply state them as I didn't give you a story book. Please don’t interrupt me or elseI’ll stop. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89316241]Please specify is it chapter 19 or 20, I have made my questions direct but, you haven't replied and I have replied yours. Please who hardened Pharaoh's heart at Exodus 9 vs 12 From Exodus 7 vs 3-4 --> you sent this; “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.” Who will do all this mentioned here. You see, my dear brother, the New Testament explains the Old Testament . The Bible is written in progressive revelations. So, until you’ve read the Bible from Genesis to revelation, you can not fully understand God’s thoughts. In fact, you have no business teaching it because you’ll be ineffective. The Bible should be read together, otherwise you’ll come to wrong conclusions and then speak presumptuously. It’s like watching a 2-hour movie filled with so much plots, twists and suspense, and suddenly after watching for thirty minutes, you then say you have a full knowledge and understanding of the movie. Now to your question ....... |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89316472]Pride and envy are different from temptation, e.g envy is a deadly sin but, temptation is not please they are never similar in anyway. Temptation is far from that. Anyways I will still answer yours here Exodus 19 vs 1-5 On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt—on that very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai. After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain. Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine. God spoke to him, do answer my question please. I like the fact that you said God spoke to him. Now consider this scripture: “who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it. ”” Acts 7:53 NKJV Now, from the above, from whom did Moses receive the law? Certainly not from God. You can also consider this: “What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.” Galatians 3:19 NKJV So the law was appointed by angels and by the hand of a mediator( Moses). So my friend, that voice you heard on mount Sinai was not actually God’s voice, but the voice of an angel. God will not be involved in the ministration of death. Neither will He be involved in anything that ministers fear. “Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.”” Exodus 20:18-20 NKJV He is not in thundering and earthquake, but speaks in a still small voice. “Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” I Kings 19:11-12 NKJV Otherwise, He would be contradicting his words here: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” I John 4:18 NKJV And God is love! Why did I have to go through this long epistle? That’s the only way I can answer your question. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89316990]madegreatbygrace I have answered all your questions but, you seem to neglect mine; thanks, that is not very polite. [quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89316472]Pride and envy are different from temptation, e.g envy is a deadly sin but, temptation is not please they are never similar in anyway. I’m sure you didn’t read your post before posting it. The devil will always tempt a man using the man’s weaknesses or with what man has been exposed to. For example, the devil will find it hard to tempt me with cocaine because I’ve not done drug before. Neither sodomy because the desire is not in me. Once the devil identifies a strong desire or weakness in you, he tempts you with such by drawing you away, and this eventually leads you to committing the sin. However, he needs the man’s cooperation. This is just what happened in pharaoh’s case. God just used the whole thing to fulfill his purpose. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89315645]Please it would be nice to answer this @Exodus 9 vs 12 : Who was the one that hardened Pharaoh's heart there (you can check up that verse) I will still answer yours, Pride and envy are the main reasons for such, do you think any king will let any low class man (Moses was no where near Pharaoh in position) take away your slaves and challenge him (no sensible king will let that) [Pride], he felt almost defeated and he had to give in (let the people go) then, he can't stand be a king of defeat and why would be stripped off the people he had be ruling over, why would Moses have them in the name of his God (envy). From what you wrote here, you can see that pride and envy are the source of Pharaoh’s temptation. So God need not harden his heart again. If there was no pride and envy in the heart of Pharaoh, his heart wouldn’t have been hardened. You just shot yourself in the foot. Don’t worry, I’ll answer your question. The answer to your question is in what i asked you to post. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89315704]Please which of the Mount Sinai event, verses please. When he went up mount Sinai to receive the commandments. Who was he speaking with or who was giving him instructions. You can actually find it in Exodus 19 and 20. But I need you to post it. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89315276]I have answered yours please answer mine @ Exodus 9 vs 12 (who hardened Pharaoh's heart there) Read Exodus 3 1-4 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” You’ve not completely answered it, post the one on mount Sinai. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89315097]I'm not talking about temptation please. So how did the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart start? |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89315030]The angel of the Lord, it's written there and I've answered that. I will give more details if required. As for the Pharaoh's part, temptation was not the reason, he had been keeping them slaves for a long time till Moses showed up and God sent an angel to kill his son and other first born son, you can't tell me it's the power of man that made it possible for the Nile to turn bloody red, or a man that slay all this first-born sons, you know who was behind the 10 plagues but, that's not the case now. God hardened his heart, it's written there. Please who@ Exodus 9 vs 12 Pls post the verses in the book of Exodus where it says the angel of the Lord. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89314225]A straight forward answer = Pharaoh. Pharaoh also hardened his heart in Exodus 8. Now, who also hardened his heart @ previous, I have answered your part. Both played a role in Exodus leading to his death. Awaiting your straight answer, who please @ 9 vs 12 An intelligent reader of the Bible should know that both man and God can’t be responsible for temptation and sin. It is either one or the other. My friend, everything you read in the Bible, or should i say in the Old Testament, should be filtered through what God says about Himself through Christ and the epistles. |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89314225]A straight forward answer = Pharaoh. Pharaoh also hardened his heart in Exodus 8. Now, who also hardened his heart @ previous, I have answered your part. Both played a role in Exodus leading to his death. Awaiting your straight answer, who please @ 9 vs 12 I’ve modified the earlier post, so maybe you need to read it again. Now to my questions, in the book of Exodus, who was Moses talking to in the burning bush and on mount Sinai when he went to receive the law. I’d be glad if you can add the appropriate scriptures. Thanks sir |
[quote author=Stephenmoka4 post=89313782]I didn't asked for bonus track, anyways that part was stating temptation, it's written there. Back to the earlier. Please who hardened Pharaoh's heart at Exodus 9 vs 12, was it Isaiah or Jeremiah or who according to the version of your Bible. Please read the verse properly. Thanks and God bless. Now according to Exodus 8:32 who hardened Pharaoh’s heart ? Don’t try to play smart with me . It is plain stupidity not to read the Bible together. What’s more, let’s assume that James 1:13 is talking about temptation, you should know that every sin a man commits starts with temptation. So, if God actually hardened Pharaoh’s, He must have started with temptation. So this verse says God doesn’t tempt anyone and by implication, He won’t make any man to sin. “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” ~James 1:14-15 NKJV It is clearly stated above that man alone is responsible for sin as a conduct. |
