Lol she didn't commit incest or adultery. Henry just wanted rid of her. She should have ignored the King's straying until she gave birth to a boy, and then arranged an 'accident' for Thomas Cromwell.

ThiefOfHearts:
Trainspotting is awesome.
Totally. But JS finds it boring, lol, along with Fight Club and City of God and Wall E and Memento. Oh but Norbit had her riveted.

UPCOMING EVENT
Movie Title:INCEPTION
Genre: Science Fiction
Leads: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Ellen Page
Director: Christopher Nolan

This guy seems incapable of making a dull movie. There are indications this'll be THE movie to beat next year.

How's Jos, baby?
The Other Boleyn Girl is good drama, and silly in every other respect. Historically inaccurate.  Very bad editing.

Henry VIII was married to Catherine, cousin to the King of Spain. He fell in love with Boleyn, who'd just returned from the court of the King of France with her sister. The sister became Henry's mistress, but he tired of her quickly. He was not in love with her and she bore him no child. She was a notorious slut. Anne was cleverer, and wouldn't sleep with him until he married her. The Vatican would not annul his marriage to Catherine, and he broke with the papacy, a first in Europe, since all kings feared for their immortal soul and were under the power of the papacy. Thomas Cromwell was instrumental in this and rose quickly in power, crushing his enemies. Henry married Anne.

What he wanted above all things was a son. Anne bore a daughter, Elizabeth. Then she suffered miscarriage after miscarriage. The King's attentions fell on a girl while Anne was heavily pregnant with a boy. She caught them together and flew into a rage, and lost the baby. Henry was already losing patience with her and this was the last straw. He commissioned Cromwell, Anne's enemy (whom she should have recognised and destroyed while she had the power) to investigate allegations of adultery and incest. Cromwell tortured men until they confessed they had slept with her. Henry believed she had bewitched him. Although almost certainly innocent, she was found guilty and beheaded. He married the girl, who gave him a son but died shortly after. After Henry's death the boy was crowned but didn't live long. Mary, Henry's daughter by Catherine, assumed the throne. She waged a war against protestants so fierce, burning them at the stake and other horrors, that she was nicknamed Bloody Mary. When she died, Elizabeth, Anne's daughter, became queen.

Watching Inglorious Basterds.

The Departed
Leo DiCaprio. Matt Damon. Martin Sheen. Jack Nicholson. Marl Wharlberg.Ray Winstone. Alec Baldwin.

Scorcese's remake of the modern Japanese classic. It's a hard, convoluted tale of disparate forces in the Boston criminal underworld, headed by Nicholson, the state police and the FBI.

Terrific performance from DiCaprio. High wire tension and labyrinthine double-dealing made this the movie to beat that year. One single, unexpected scene transforms it into a shining beacon of vision and directing, and takes it out of the ordinary. The only snag is the psychiatrist, played by Vera Farmiga. Poor performance. DiCaprio is one of the very finest actors of his generation, and one hopes the elusive Oscar finds him quickly.

Shouldn't you get that after years of struggle to overcome hiccups to peace or progress in a particular region, and overcoming? huh I think Mandela has one. Suu Ki, the Burmese democracy icon under house arrest for almost two decades, won one. What's he getting it for? I like the guy, but, come on. It's ridiculous.

Eyes Wide Shut. Tom Cruise. Nicole Kidman.
The pressures of marriage overwhelm a young couple when the wife confesses her adulterous longings. A shaken Cruise decides to get even by seeking other women. His adventures lead him to a dark house full of masked, enigmatic characters. A psychosexual thriller, there's erotica and frontal female nudity. One couldn't connect with any of the characters though and the story seems to be missing a heart. Kubrick's last, not his best.

matrim:
@madmax the issue is not the humanity of doctors or whatever the issue is the illegality of the proposed law.If i want to help accident victims it is my right to do so or not as i prefer.the state cannot compel me to carry out it's function.I think you need distinguish constitutionality from morality and stop talking abt what you don't know
No vex. I will stop talking about what I don't know in a moment. Will you let me say this though?

A person who points a gun at you and shoots it intends that you die. So a gunshot victim isn't a joke; he's fightling for his life. Agitating for 'freedom to act' would have been lovely in the context of doctors being prevented from treating gunshot or accident victims. But 'freedom to act' where you're told to treat them? 'Freedom to act' there means 'freedom' to NOT treat a gunshot or accident victim, to ignore all entreaties, like the young doctor who wouldn't treat another young man and stood there till he died, freedom to consign another to death if you feel like it, freedom to play God, that freedom? That's not what freedom is. That is a barbarous, irresponsible idea that can only come from a pathologically selfish soul that has no business in the business of saving lives in the first place. I'm willing to concede a hospital's very practical monetary concerns. But Medicine is inextricably wrapped up in the humanity of the person who practices it. You can't dissociate the two. Where human lives are concerned it is ALWAYS a moral issue.

What constitutionality are you talking about? Is there a place in the constitution that gives you right to drive past an accident scene and not administer first aid? Where is that in the constitution? Lawmakers tell YOU what the constitution is, they make the law. But apparently there's the Nigerian constitution, and there's the 'constitution' you carry around in your head.
PoliticsRe: Senate Reviews Bill On Gunshot Victims by MadMax1(f): 3:44am On Oct 08, 2009
You see people in Doctors Without Borders and you know the humanity that is the backbone of real medicine. A woman doctor in the Chicago area set up a site to help citizens without health insurance get affordable healthcare. In Nigeria you see people going into a life-or-death profession merely to make 'a living'. Although money is a factor, for many medics, it isn't THE factor.

They haven't even passed it and already you have folks resenting this law and bracing themselves to reject beneficiaries of it. As for not judging doctors, other people are judged, who the hell are they that their conduct can't come under scrutiny?Isn't there a difference between a banker and a doctor at an accident scene? If a banker doesn't stop and a doctor doesn't stop as well, can anyone be so crass as to imagine both actions are the same? There are compassionate doctors. There are also cold, callous, arrogant inhuman animals with cash registers for hearts, who don't blink about consigning a human being to death. A doctor is called to save lives FIRST. Other considerations come second. Private Hospitals run on money, true. But most of their patients are paying patients. Is it the rare gunshot victim who couldn't pay immediately that will ruin the hospital? Is the bill targeted solely at private hospitals?

No one denies the police harrassed some doctors who treated gunshot victims. No one can downplay that kind of insanity and its attendant trauma on the poor medics involved. But that's a part of what the law's intended to rectify. However, some would prefer to maintain the status quo, having innocent people needless deaths, so they won't be 'inconvenienced'.

A Greek sculpture he was. Shebi they did Conan the Barbarian together. She was in some contraption with half her bony, magnificent yansh out. Could have gone for him instead.

'Freedom to act'? I doubt, very much, you ever went to medical school. You sound like a mean-eyed retarded little wannabe. Move your piggy feet away from where actual human beings are talking, stat!

Pass the bill pass the bill pass the bill. Don't just decorate the constitution with it;enforce it.

Watching The Hours.Again. Three women whose destinies are inextricably linked to Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs Dalloway.Woolf is the very talented writer who committed suicide by roasting her own head in an oven. In the movie, she elects to drown. Many powerful performances. Meryl Streep, like Alan Rickman, is always perfect.Toni Collete , Ed Harris, Allison Janey, Claire Danes, Stephen, and Nicole Kidman as Woolf.

@Gamine
Tree oil? Is it something new?

@Manikki
Lol at 'leaving your dark skin that way'? Treating hyperpigmentation on parts of your skin does not make you an advocate of unhealthy skin 'bleaching'. Don't get funny ideas from previous pages. smiley

If you leave your skin un-moisturised, you're leaving it unprotected and dry, and you WILL have skin trouble and possible damage after years of that sort of thing. Maybe you're using 'heavy' creams, highly unsuitable for oily skin; try light lotions, esp those made for oily skin. Hopefully someone who knows more about those might recommend a few here.

A pimple is just a tiny patch of infected skin. When you pick at, if the tiny infected fluid touches healthy skin, that patch becomes infected as well and another pimple springs up. Salicylic acid works for it too. Try the 20% Salicylic acid peel, and dab twice weekly or as instructed in its leaflet. If you can't find it, or an acne product with a high percentage of salicylic acid, you might give browncoco's aspirin mask a try. Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. There's a very old product that contains it in powder form: Alabukun. Prepare as she directed in the previous page and it might work just as well.

You might want to see a dermatologist to prescribe suitable antibiotics for the pimples too.

You use MAC make up range. How does it compare with NARS and URBAN DECAY, esp its lipstick? Is it better? Aren't Mac products a little overpriced too, like Nars?

Peels come with instructions. Salicylic acid CAN be used continuously with no adverse effect whatsoever. They're in soaps and medicated lotions for daily use. There were no suggestions that multiples peels be used simultaneously.

Hi ybab,
Two peels. Neither's the 20% Salicylic acid peel, but I guess 15% ought to work. 20% pure Salicylic peel can be used twice a week on the skin; it's perfectly safe. Yours is combined with lactic acid (sour milk) so I don't know. I guess you'll follow the instructions that come with it on usage. Getting rid of acne's a simple thing. Don't use both peels at the same time because you think you'll get quicker results that way. Not so. Your skin needs time to heal and breathe between treatments; it's a delicate organ.

Use the salicylic peel first. The other one can be your weekly peel after the acne's gone. And don't be misled by the word 'acid'. Lactic acid is just sour milk, glycolic acid is got from sugarcane. I've never used AHA/BHA Chemical peel, but it should be all right. I use Glycolic acid or lactic acid peels once a week and vouch for those.

You can moisturise with Olay regenerist twice daily. Neutrogena products don't clog pores, but I don't know if there are additives in their cleanser. Just incorporate pure soap into your cleansing regime and the occasional cleansers shouldn't matter .

How on earth can these moisturisers leave your face with dark patches? huh I don't get that part. They're just excellent facial moisturisers, nothing more. They're what I use. If you're using Olay regenerist as a day cream, try Derma E Hyaluronic acid night creme. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in healthy skin and foods that contain it are great for skin.

Isn't Bakker delicious? He makes me want to do things to him. Can't arrange schedules around TV programmes tho, Will have to wait till the season ends before ordering 2 on DVD.
