Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in charge of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Mr Abdullahi Usman, has disclosed that not less than 58,000 visas have been issued to foreigners at the airport located in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
Mr Usman, in a chat with newsmen at the airport, stated that most of the visas were issued to foreigners coming into the country to invest in the economy, thereby creating jobs for citizens.
According to him, these visas were given to these foreigners on arrival into Nigeria through the MMIA from January 2019 to Thursday, December 5, 2019.
The comptroller noted that the visa-on-arrival procedure was targeted at investors coming into the country, which is Africa’s largest economy, to do business as part of the Ease of Doing Business policy of the federal government.
“We have upgraded our visa on arrival from email-based to web-based to improve our services. Applicants can now log into the website and fill in their details and also get their approvals directly from there instead of using a third party which was what we were doing before because they have to send a representative here to process it.
“So, the increase in the issuance is to ease procedure and encourage more investors to come into the country to invest,” the immigration officer told journalists when he received officials of Access Bank at the airport.
He further said the airport was now operating better than in the past, stating that the new Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) has been installed at the airport.
According to him, this equipment has enabled immigration and border officials to process travellers more rapidly and professionally and as well make their border-crossing experience safer and more humane.
Mr Usman said this led to officials of the agency to stop about 150 Nigerians from travelling out of the country in the last four months in the fight against human trafficking.
You can be very sure that a considerable number of those "foriegn investors" are arms dealers. Nigeria is frighteningly at the core of being a failed states; and we know from history, that it attracts arms dealers and sales from unscrupulous elements, Western nations.
uzohrome: This is obtainable when we have a tyrant in the position of authority. Buhari needs to repent indefinitely or this country will just one day burst into war.
Team news Hector Bellerin's hamstring injury will be assessed ahead of Freddie Ljungberg's first home game in interim charge of Arsenal. Brighton are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium as Ljungberg looks to build on a 2-2 draw at Norwich on Sunday. Arsenal interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg jokes he left his suit at the dry cleaners for his first game in charge at Norwich Bellerin has missed the last two games but could return against the Seagulls, while fellow Spaniard Dani Ceballos is definitely missing with his own hamstring complaint. Brighton will be able to call on Bernardo at the Emirates Stadium. The left-back has not played since August due to a knee injury but is back in training. Solly March (groin) and Jose Izquierdo (knee) miss out.
I have retired from Arsenal. Let me wait for the Australian Open and support my Serena/Nadal/Djokovic/Federer and my Messi. At least these ones know what they are doing.
explosiveskull: This lady haven't realized she is contributing to this young man's defeat and this young man still thinks he is in control of his destiny with that young lady around.
Very clear.
Any serious man or woman should know that, at the edge of something great, ALL distractions should be avoided. Unless you have a habit of drawing strength from a particular thing, ALL distractions should be avoided. Even family. You will hook up with them after the event. No one will die.
This is a very simple pattern for successful people.
IceColdVeins: Rubbish is an understatement bro! Gonna try the Koreans though. Thanks
Watch "The Wailing" bro.
Believe me, you will come back here and thank me again. Those guys are on anothe level. You'll require 3 watches + youtube explanations to understand the movie.

Dewze: Let us tell ourselves the raw truth. The Yorubas will have their flaws and shortcomings, as every other tribes, but they are undoubtedly the most inclusive and liberal tribe amongst the major tribes in Nigeria.
The first ever non-indigene who was elected to a serious role in a part of the country where he isnt indigenous to was Usman Altine. A Sokoto man. He was elected TWICE in the role of Mayor of Enugu. In today's political parlance, that would be the Chairman of a Local Government Area.
Enugu State is in the heart of South Eastern Nigeria.
People are generally inclusive and liberal as long as your host sees and agrees that the boundaries he set for you, you stay in it. When you start demanding for greater benefits or start prospering beyond what your host deems is "acceptable" then that inclusivity will be torn apart.
odiks: Former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for fraud, was seen asking prison warders, “where are you taking us to?” After his sentencing.
Kalu, who is the Senate Chief Whip also begged the prison warders not to handcuff him in public.
The former governor, who appeared shaken, said, “Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you.”
Kalu’s associate, Udeogu, was sentenced to 10 years in prison while the company which was used in perpetrating the fraud, Slok Limited, was ordered to be wound up by Justice Idris Mohammed.
Smart man. He knows that a picture taken of him in handcuffs can ruin whatever political bid he has. And a man in handcuffs, like Chinua Achebe said, is a beaten, defeated man. Symbolism.
kahal29: Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on Thursday, sentenced a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, to 12 years’ imprisonment.
Kalu was charged with N7.1bn fraud.
The court found him and his co-defendants guilty of the entire 39 counts filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Jimi24: Wrong, wrong, wrong Mr Falana. On security alone, Buhari can close that border indefinitely.
Hate speech bill is not protecting Buhari
Buhari government himself has admitted that border closure of Southern Nigeria's borders has racked up inflation and caused more hunger and poverty in the land.
And you are here supporting him? Why do you hate Nigerians this much? What have they dont to you?
Pointguardusa: Ethiopia has spent far less than Nigeria on rail infrastructure and yet has more results . Do your research and ask why. Nigerians really just love to loot. $4bn HABA!
The Nigerian government has raised alarm concerning the stealing and replacing of clips, bolts and knots on the Lagos/Ibadan rail line.
Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, said 5,000 clips and 10,000 bolts as well as knots had been replaced along the rail track.
Mr. Fidet said, “You can’t imagine that between Lagos and Ibadan, we have replaced over 5,000 clips and close to 10,000 bolts and nuts on the track and it is not a good thing at all.
“Without those things on the tracks, accidents can occur.
“We know the volume of passengers on a train. So vandalism of rail infrastructure has to stop.”
He added that government would still go ahead to extend the Lagos-Ibadan line to Kano in three years.
The Nigerian government has in the past 10 years sunk over 4 billion dollars in its railway sector with the hope of reviving and sustaining the sector.
An accident waiting for happen. If the train running at 60 to 80km/hr or above details because of buckling caused by missing nuts, you can predict huge number of fatalities.
The average Nigerian man is inherently wicked. Even to himself.
TourismMan: And the guy is always preaching, trying to win soul for God but I think he is someone with pride. Perhaps he was exerting pride in the house with the ex wife.
To be fair, it worries most people too. I think one unsaid key to marriage is HUMILITY. No one likes hearing this because we live in a world where everyone loves to be in charge. They got married in a church where they got told, “Husband love your wife”; “wife submit to your husband”.
If both of them fail to do this, the marriage will crash. If one does it and the other refuses, the marriage will be standing on one leg— and may crash eventually.
We can pretend about this, be feminist about this, but this is a simple fact people going into marriage should be ready to accept. Otherwise it would just be a waste of time.
NwekeUG: IgbereTV reports that, Mrs. Esther Kehinde Sowore, the mother of the #RevolutionNow Convener Omoyele Sowore, has made a video note in which she appealed to President Buhari and the Department of State Services (DSS) to release Sowore since he has fulfilled his bail conditions.
Mrs. Esther called on all Nigerian mothers to speak out as all her son wanted was a good future for the Nigerian child.
She said her son will not run away because he is not a criminal.
She said: “Dear SSS, Dear Buhari, I am Yele Sowore’s mother. I am sending you this message as a mother. I am a woman, your mother is a woman, your wife is a woman also. This is December and Yele has been taken away since August.
“He always comes to me in the village every December but you have been holding him. I am a widow, my son has always been like that. He speaks against injustice and stands up against it. He doesn’t run away, he faces his case. Please release him and let him face his case in court. I know him, he can’t run away because he knows he has not committed any crime.
“You are a Muslim, please in the name of Allah, leave my son, release him. I call on all mothers to speak out, let us join voice for the sake of the future of our children.
“Omoyele is only asking for a better Nigeria so that all our children can have good future. My mind is disturbed that he has not been allowed to go for medical care since August. Alhaji Bichi Yusuf, please obey the law since you have gone to court release Omoyele Sowore now.
“Since I gave birth to him, he always speaks against evil. Even in the village, before he went to school in Lagos, he has always been like that. He is not a criminal, release Sowore now. Please release my son because you have your own son, you take care of your son, let me take care of my children.
“I am a widow, release my son. I cannot eat, I cannot sleep and it is affecting my health. Please release Omoyele Sowore, my son. He is not a criminal. Omoyele is not a criminal, leave him.”
A regime where mothers will have to beg the President of a country to release her son as per the pronouncements of the courts is no more a democracy.
Despotism, fascism. It is as clear as daylight. Shame on those defending and propping up this regime. May the tiger you have served find a way to eat you up as well.
Flexherbal: It is the "something different" you are seeing, now.
Gratitude is a payback in words.
Do not misunderstand me. When someone has done you well, it is very good and necessary to appreciate the person. In fact, I always appreciate my customers, who patronise us for our herbal tea for men's performance and those who refer more customers to us, after usage. I am always grateful, no matter how small the favour done to me is.
But, if you believe you are doing it for God, whether they show gratitude or not. Do not call them out, in public. The Good Lord who sees in the secret will reward you in the open.
Thank you for reading this, with an open mind!
There is a challenge with Young Nigerians today. The problem called, "entitlement mentality". "Thank you", "please" are strangely blotted out from their dictionaries. It is so shameful. If you remind them, they will demonise and hate you. I have always wondered if people drop down dead when they say, "thank you." I do not like mentioning things I do for people openly, but as this is an experience I think people may learn from, I would.
Some years ago when I used to be on facebook, a friend of mine made an appeal on behalf of a student who needed her school fees paid. Or else she is thrown out of school. The amount was substantial; she only had a widowed mother. I was moved. I messaged this friend of mine and asked for the account. And I sent the money over. Apparently, this friend gave the student my number to call and thank me. I recieved no phone calls or messages and I didnt bother about it. God sees and rewards and I just wanted to help.
A year later, I had a number of "missed calls" from a certain number. I eventually picked it. Guess what? It was this student. She needed school fees assistance again and suddenly "remembered me". LOL. I was in shock. I wont tell you how that particular call ended.
Young people, LEARN to say, "Please" and "Thank You". You will not die if you say those words. Believe me. The doors that those words will open for you, midnight prayers cannot open those doors. What actually excites you with ingratitude
titiloyeblog: Illiteracy in the north has a direct negative impact in other parts of the country - Senator Rochas Okorocha (video)
Rochas Okorocha, the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the red chamber has raised an alarm over the high level of illiteracy in the northern part of the country.
The former Imo State Governor who expressed fear of having lawmakers from the North who cannot address the senate chamber in English, asked for an intervention in the educational sector in the region.
Okorocha also stated that the illiteracy in the northern region has a direct impact in other parts of the country.
nellyelitz: Bad news everywhere.... I saw this thrending on Twitter and i was like, can this country offer anything good aside from hardship and tragedy? police ande armed robbers are competing , lecturers and doctors are only after take home pay with their wickedness, judiciary and the political class are on the race to outdo each other on looting and corruption chart, the president clueless and lifeless-according to America, my people is there any hope in sight?.
When the righteous rule, the people rejoiceth....
When the wicked rule..... Nothing happening in Nigeria is strange. What is strange is the fact that people are refusing to be united in facing the regime putting them in poverty, but are keen on fighting themselves.
J111333: I'm still waiting for the curse he long placed on Boko Haram to kill them.
The Prophecy of the Promised Land was pronounced. It was supposed to be in days, 40 days. It took 40 years. But it happened.
The prophecy of the coming of Christ was supposed to take 400 years. However, it took 430 years. But it still happened.
Anneas and Saphira were cursed. They died almost instantly. It still happened.
God ways are not our ways. If you try rationalising God ways and His concept of time, you will give yourself headache. A bad one. One thing is common in the examples I spoke about. “It still happened”.
From Buhari to Osinbajo to Lawal you have your ELECTED officials on Twitter. Whom you can tag and tweet to. Yet, you’ll go and disturb people who aren’t elected.
Junaid Mohammed, elder statesman and Second Republic lawmaker on Tuesday said he doesn’t dislike Igbos as being erroneously claimed by some Nigerians based on his views on certain political issues.
Speaking with Daily Independent, Junaid Mohammed said those accusing him of hate speech for saying he will not endorse an Igbo man for Presidency are free to charge him to court.
“If they like let them take me to court. I said I will not support them on the grounds they are canvassing.”
“They are saying they should be made President of Nigeria because they are Igbos. And I said no. They need to elevate the Presidency of Nigeria to a higher level rather than just making it a matter of tribal, cultural, or religious convenience”.
“Many people don’t know that I have a daughter who has an Igbo mother. She is here in Abuja doing her Postgraduate degree. My first wife is an Igbo woman and she is alive. She lives in Kaduna” he said.
Throwback: This is not unexpected, considering the clannish attribute of the tribe involved.
The governors should fly to USA and remind the American government of how they developed USA and ensured the victory of Donald Trump.
The Islamization agenda of the FBI must never be allowed to succeed against a great Jew.
Even the governors just indicted their own people of self destructive arrogance that only breeds animosity.
A few years ago— in fact not too far away— a certain Presidential candidate, now President, warned that the Nigeria Army’s onslaught on known terrorist group, Boko Haram, was an “attack against the North of the country”.
A few years ago— in fact not too far away— a party, a Northern pressure group, and “eminent” statesmen cajoled and pleaded with the US Government NOT to proscribe a known terror group as terrorist group.
You did not write up this sort of rubbish then, despite the fact that it was needed.
Today, certain Governors are verbally backing someone who has NOT being convicted and according to the law, IS INNOCENT until proven guilty and you are writing epistle upon epistles.
Continue. It is just a matter of time that your unmasked hate will consume you. Because it will.
