But you are right. Anyone who’s worked within policymaking circles will tell you that this “slash” was pre-planned. They would have planned for N25, but announced N65. When people complain, they’ll take it down to N35. Then you’ll hear an announcement that “Major General Buhari orders the CBN to review the increase to N25”. Then they’ll implement the originally planned N25, winning political capital for the regime. Glad to see that many Nigerians understand this fact of policy-making. Pretty normal. |

Blue3k2: Fine start by rejecting all their foreign aid. If they're not ready to do that they're just talking at the end of the day. Even knows the money buys political favors. There are many books and papers that have explored the influence of foreign aid in Africa. The conclusion, from qualitative and quantitative methodologies, is that it has a terrible, counterproductive influence in Africa. No African country has relied on foreign aid and grown their GDP. Has never happened. Would never happen. Kagame for instance have asked the West to stop their foreign aid, when threatened by journalists. Of course they haven’t. Foreign aid is an influence for Western nations. If they don’t “give” those aid, China would; Russia would; they don’t want such geopolitical alliances so they continue. In the long run, it benefits them more than Africans. |

African leaders, the majority of them, aren’t schooled on important subjects such as history, especially pre and colonial history.
Hence why I like Paul Kagame. Whenever the West sends its media to demonise him and Rwanda in preparation for a planned regime change, he reminds the moral consciences of th world of Rwanda and its 1994 Genocide and how the West enabled it/ looked the other way. The Western media normally backs off after such reminder.
To say that France will let its influence, economic and otherwise, wane because of this “deal” is to be ignorant of history. Currently Francophone Africa is more militarised by the French than any time in their history. French boots and listening equipments are in Mali, Central Africa Republic, Niger, Cameroon to mention but a few. They aren’t here to listen to peasants chat about market prices. They are here for control and it’s high time African leaders— or at least Africans themselves— understood this. |

Congratulations and good luck to the Africans who control their currency. I’m very sure that the French still have strong ties to the CFA Francs. Colonialists never completely give up their conquests. For the French to have allowed Francophone African countries to come up with this arrangement, trust that they have devised another way to economically milk these countries. I remember when Libyan Ghaddafi was posing and smiling with various Western leaders as they allowed him access to Libya’s wealth which were under sanctions. A short while after that, NATO bombed democracy into Libya. Today western proxies control Libya’s wealth. It will be the same with Francophone Africa. |

Picture 1 - Bernard-Henri Lévy speaks to Fulani men in Nigeria. PHOTO: GILLES HERTZOG This is sad but not actually shocking. Between 2014 and 2015, many Christians and moderate Muslims, who had lived their entire lives in the North, warned the South West— especially the Christian South West— that supporting Beau Harry is simply allowing for an Islamist conquest of Nigeria, in the usual violent, Middle Eastern manner of Uthman Dan Fodio. They refused to listen, swallowed up by their hate of GEJ who they viewed as Igbo. Up till today, many are still stubborn to condemn, perhaps swallowed up in guilt for their tribalist choice. More shocking is Plataeu State indigenes. I mean how could you guys, with your history of surviving massacres from these guys still vote in and support APC? I mean how? The price of liberty is vigilance. That is why the South East have refused to sleep, countering the Islamist in any shape or form they come. Buhari is releasing hardened Boko Haram terrorists back into the society, you think it’s out of love? Fulani terrorists are never captured nor tried in jail, you think it’s not strategic? O foolish Nigerian Christians, who have bewitched you? If Nigeria survives from this, I hope everyone alive learns the lesson. |
Romance › Re: At 29 I Have No Girl In My Life Due To Lack Of Good Job by madridsta007(m): 11:22pm On Dec 21, 2019 |
SirLiquidGold: I will go straight to the point. I'm 29years old and I have no girlfriend to call mine. Although when I was in school and during my NYSC some girls do give me attention but the moment we all did POP it was like the world changed for us all. I realized maybe I was too busy getting worried about the future than I should have had more time for women.
All along, my intention was to graduate, have a good job, then go into a serious relationship and get married but reality can be often disappointing. It's rather unfortunate that no job is forthcoming since I finished service in December, 2017.
I'm very sure you would not believe it if tell you that I'm a virgin because I've never tasted sex all my live. Though i intend getting married at 30 and I've no job yet, I really feel like having a girl in my life now. I feel really lonely waking up alone everyday and hugging my pillow. It's as if nature is craving for what I ought to have had by now.
I need somebody that I can share my thought with, somebody I would be there for and also would be there for me. Guys I know you are wiser than I am, please advise me!!! Just yesterday night I came across a post on front page about "if money was delaying one from getting married and I am really worried You do not need a girl now, dear Sir. I have come with my blunt yet sensible, practical advice. You need to focus on getting on your feet— a job, a career, engaging the “works of your hands”. That responsibility is important. I did mention here a while back that even Adam was working before God gave him Eve. He was a farmer, a horticulturist and was also engaged naming animals. That is why, I believe, the devil didn’t tempt him. He was very busy. He wasn’t idle. If sex is your concern, then your argument of looking for a lady before a job is genuine. If being responsible is your primary concern, looking for a lady before getting a job/ career going is simply putting the cart before the horse. Do not let anyone here deceive you on what should be your priorities at this moment. And it is not a lady. |

Ginaz: Some people will just come and be writing rubbish . That’s how you give men the right to just do anyhow things and get away free.
Which man in his right senses would watch his girlfriend grow up with him with no dreams of her own or even if the lady doesn’t have dreams, he can’t build her up? That means the guy doesn’t care anyway and he is just using the girl for sex.
Girls I would advise you to follow men who have visions, aspirations and a future cos even if you were the most dumbest girl in the whole world, their dreams would rub off on you to make you become better.
Na only empty and wicked boyfriends na fit do that . They are building their lives , they know the girl isn’t making any steps to build hers but would hang around, f***k her for years only to dump her like a trash. If she didn’t have plans, why not leave her ? Why hang around and use her and dump her? It’s very painful .
There is no excuse whatever in the planet that justifies that. It’s very painful and I sympathize with any lady facing this situation.
The man simply would have left her since she wasn’t good enough than to dump her at the last minute. When a man is broke and trying to start life, it is IMPORTANT that ladies should know that being with him, unless you are married, is INCONVENIENCING him. This is a fact many ladies do not seem to realise. Or they realise, but do not want to accept. He needs the space to think and plan and work. Sticking around is inconveniencing and for most men, it is an ego thing too. If the man is hardworking and responsible, he will generally make statements that will alude to the fact that it is best he is left alone to focus and concentrate. The problem is that ladies emotionalise this decision-making process; they stick around and believe that if they stay and support him, they are entitled to having a say in his life- that is, getting married. When the guy bounces back on his feet, he will usually make the decision of marriage based on logic and rational rather than emotions. If the lady who stuck with him is not viewed by him as productive- whatever is his definition of being productive- he ends the relationship and moves on with someone who he views can add value to him. Harsh reality, but these are simple facts. Once again, UNLESS you are married to him or to her, you are simply staying with him or her through the tough period at your own risk. Yes, this goes to the ladies as well. You arent entitled to marriage with the guy or girl. You are not. |

Yesterday my wife went shopping, she bought clothes for herself, our children and nothing for the house help. She claimed that the girl doesn’t need any clothes for Christmas as long we feed and send her to school, the rest is her parents' duties. The girl in question is my wife's relative from the same village. This girl is so nice to our children, she is like a second mother to them despite her being just 15, I have never had any problem with her.
I was mad at her that I told her, if she cannot treat another woman's child well then she doesn’t deserve to be a mother, yes I did said some harsh words to her because of anger. She accused me of sleeping with the little girl which I told her she is mad and she couldn’t stop crying the whole night. This morning she didn’t make my breakfast and refused greeting me back.

Sanusi is at crossroads here.
Accenting to the request on chairing the council means he has agreed to the creation of the new emirates
Not accenting brings about appointing a new chair to the council, leaving Sanusi to the back row. The respect and acknowledgement meant for him will definitely be directed to the appointed Chairman of the council (Emir of Bichi most likely).
The most intriguing thing he could have done is to abdicate the post.
But accepting the post seems better, Ganduje’s tenure ends in 2023. The next governor of the state may reverse this system introduced by Ganduje. Who gains? Sanusi of course! If you think Ganduje does not have plans to destroy Sanusi before 2023, think again! El Rufai once told us in a tweet that the Fulanis do not forgive. I think he was serious with that Tweet. Ganduje has not forgiven and not forgetten that Sanusi was against his "reelection". He is a gonner. That post is a poisoned chalice. But again, Sanusi may have something up his sleaves. It is good for them. May they continue to fight themselves like the Moabites and Ammonites. |

mercyefe200: The Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, has awarded N50m damages against the Nigerian Army for the murder of Ajayi Oladele, who was said to have died as a result of a spinal cord injury he sustained when he was arrested and beaten by some soldiers in Warri in 2017.
Oladele was said to have been arrested and beaten by soldiers in their bid to help a businessman to recover a debt from the deceased.
Following his death, his widow, Esther Oladele, and their three children, filed the fundamental rights enforcement suit marked FHC/WR/CS/93/2017 against the Nigerian Army, one Lt. Col. T. A. Yakubu and Sergeant Hassan Hassan.
The suit was instituted on behalf of the plaintiffs by their lawyer, Mr Kunle Edun, who prosecuted the case for them free of charge.
Justice Emeka Nwite in the judgment delivered on December 10, 2019, declared that the four “plaintiffs’ right to life and therefore good and reasonable comfort of life have been violated by the acts of the defendants by the unlawful killing of Otunba Ajayi Oladele being that the deceased was the parent of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th plaintiffs and husband to the 1st plaintiff and also the breadwinner of the family.”
In the copy of the judgment seen by Punch correspondent on Wednesday, the judge made an order, “awarding the sum of N50,000,000 as general and exemplary damages jointly and severally against the defendants in favour of the plaintiffs as a result of the unlawful/wrongful death of Otunba Ajayi Oladele and for loss of consort, fatherly love/care, comfort and disruption of the family life of the plaintiffs.”
The judge also awarded N100,000 against the defendants and in favour of the plaintiffs as cost of prosecuting the case.
