The assassination of JF Kennedy 56 years ago led to a total rethink of how the US presidential state cars are designed

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/US-Presidential-State-Car-Cadillac-One-The-Beast-10.jpg

On November 22 1963, US President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot in an open-topped Lincoln Continental in Dallas, Texas, during a presidential motorcade.

That day, 56 years ago today, marks one of the darkest moments in American history. The assassination of John F. Kennedy led to a total rethink of how the presidential cars are designed.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/JFK-Assassination-US-Presidential-State-Car-Cadillac-One-The-Beast.jpg

The 1961 unarmoured open-roofed Lincoln Continental SS-100-X left John F. Kennedy uniquely exposed.

Today, the United States presidential state cars are more of “Tanks” than a cars. The current models cover the presidents in thicker layers of armour and protection.

AutoJosh wants you to see the evolution of the US Presidential State Cars from the last five decades.

1961 to 1963: Lincoln Continental SS-100-X

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/USA-TRUMP-JFK.jpg

The vehicle that President Kennedy was riding in on the day of his assassination was a 1961 open-roofed Lincoln Continental SS-100-X. The state car cost almost $200,000 (equivalent to about $1,700,000 in 2018).

It is the most sophisticated presidential state car yet built. It has heavy-duty heater and air conditioner and a pair of radiotelephones. Fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit and a siren are also available.

John F. Kennedy wouldn’t have survived the bullets in the unarmoured car even if the hardtop had been in place.

1963 to 1972: Lyndon B Johnson’s armoured Lincoln Continental

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/US.png

Following Kennedy’s assassination, Lincoln Continental was redesigned for an estimated cost of $500,000. It received significant armour plating, bullet-proof hardtop, explosion-proof fuel tank and run-flat tyres.

The custom-built car remained in service until 1977, when it was retired to the Henry Ford Museum.

The Lincoln Continental was also used by Presidents Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan

The 1972 Lincoln Continental was the car in which President Gerald Ford was shot at by Sara Jane Moore.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Reagan.png

It is also the car that transported President Ronald Reagan to the hospital after he was shot in 1981. It is currently on display at the Henry Ford Museum.

Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

In 1984, the US Secret Service switched to Cadillac. President Ronald Reagan used a state car based on the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. It featured armour and bulletproof glass.

Bush’s Lincoln Town Car

George HW Bush used an armoured Lincoln Town Car during his 4 year tenure as President of the United States.

I visited this exact spot JFK was shot earlier in the year.
And peered through the window pane and saw the view that the assassin saw. The Library has been converted into a Museum of some sort. You’ll pay nearly $30 to get in it.

JFK was an engima. The brilliantly put pictures and videos will tell you about him. His family. His campaign. The Cuban missile crisis.

Step into Dallas and you will feel something different in the air— heavy, sombre, like some form of unseen unhappiness.
When I was told that it was the same town that JFK was shot, I wasn’t surprised.

“Let the accused face the law/ have some accountability...”— Follow this principle and you will give birth to a serious State like Rwanda, like the U.K.

Benclever1:
Hello everyone.

So I met this girl through a mutual friend and we started bonding. Initially, I didn't take the friendship seriously because this lady is a little older than me and I do not see any future between us.

Now, things got more intense between us. She visited me one time, one thing leading to another, we were in bed, about to have sex and then I pulled out the condom but she refused, insisting that she doesn't enjoy sex with condom. I was very surprised to hear that, so I tried to make her see reasons why the condom is very necessary. She adamantly refused. We ended up not having the sex that day.

Just last week she visited again and we spent the night together. We tried to have sex again but the same issue came up again. She insisted I must not used condom. Now this got me upset. During the conversation that ensued, she made it very clear to me that she does not have any STD/STI so I should not be afraid. She however admitted that she was ovulating and that the chances of getting her pregnant was high, but that I should not worry that she'd take care of herself and the pregnancy, if it happens. She said that she would not force me to get involved with the baby if I don't want. However, she made very clear that she's not ready to get married. This got me confused.

I don't want to let my guards down by indulging in unprotected sex with someone I don't trust. I also do not want to hurt her feelings. So I plan to take her for medical tests next week and then we can kick it off from there.

What's your advise for me.

Thank you.
Sorry sir, but I may be harsh here...

1. This was consensual sex

2. The act did not happen on campus

3. The act happened when Babcock Uni was on holiday.

4. The university claims to be saddled with the responsibility of making Nigeria great right? By inference sexual purity is the prerequisite for greatness right? Developed countries have a large number of sexually active youth. They all have very low birth rates as well as low rate of HIV prevalence (sex education and access to health care) and are all great by every human development index.

5. I have also read Babcocks rules and regulation and nowhere did it address having sex off-campus. It does mention that association with members of the opposite sex ON-CAMPUS is highly prohibited.

6. I will like to see what rules she must have broken that warranted her expulsion. This why no one takes Nigerian education seriously.

7. The university should be investigating whoever leaked this video for violation of privacy but this is Nigeria where hypocrisy reigns supreme.

NB. I AM A CHRISTIAN AND BELIEVE SEX SHOULD BE WITHIN A LOVING MARITAL RELATIONSHIP BUT EVEN I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE SEXUAL PARTNERS.

Babcock prides itself on being a Christian University, grounded on certain norms. Once you sign up to that University, you pledge to ABIDE by those norms and policies. Break it, you get expelled. This is commonsense.

All Universities— theocratic or otherwise— award certificates to individuals who have proven themselves worthy in CHARACTER and in learning. Break what they consider as “Character”, you face the consequences. And these goes for Universities outside Nigeria as well.

This again, is basic. It’s commonsense.

There’s no need to critique a University for doing what they signed up to do. Instead, and fully, the blame should go to the student(s) who fell foul of a simple rule.

If we want to be honest, this explanation is as simple as it comes. Why is there always a pushback, when it comes to holding people accountable, especially in Nigeria?

APC are excellent strategists, I must say.

"Conduct" a militarised and fraudlent selection process in Kogi State.
So violently rigged that thugs killed people, burnt a woman in her own house, etc.
Then publish articles online and in print on how PDP's so-called process made their candidate to "win." Draw people to debate their propaganda articles and not to talk about the violent charade called an election.
These articles will continue (just watch) for some weeks, till they own the narrative of the "elections"

For Bayelsa, it was similar but less violent.
The rigging was done internally (through INEC) and through the courts- overturning a court order not to present a candidate at the election.
The next thing? Release several pictures of GEJ and their "leaders" in order to claim that GEJ helped them to "win".

So strategic, pre-planned and organised. These hit pictures and pieces will carry on till they convince Nigerians that despite the video and picture evidence, they held a "free and fair election".

It is part of politics, when this sort of fraud and Nazi-like propaganda is used in an economically-booming country. The masses will not feel it that much. The Dems in the US know that their Russia and now Ukraine hit pieces were and are based on fraud, but the masses do not feel it. Their economy and institutions are strong enough.

But when it is held in a near-failed State like Nigeria, it means only one thing; more economic, security comatose for the public. APC are strategically smart with propaganda, but they are inherently wicked towards the masses in Nigeria. We can claim that this was what PDP was known for in their early years but (1) The economy was farrrrr better and (2) APC promised changed (if I remember well) and not a return to the dark days of killings and violence.
We will continue to pray to God for Nigeria.
