Yampotatocarrot: True, but it's serving its purpose of easing traffic in that axis, so we are okay with it.
What is Imo state doing about the educational sector?what had happened to the general hospitals Rochas built in all the local governments in Imo state?
What's the latest about the Eastern Palm University?
Eastern Palm University has been converted to the K.O Mbadiwe University.
Happy blessed birthday, sir. I throwaway salute. I wish there could be a picture of you in uniform during those war years. It seems you were man's man from your present picture.
christejames: Soludo is also building a brand new Ekwulobia Township Stadium... I just hope the contractor handling that project will give us something to brag out.
Same with the one handling the new grandstands around the Awka City Stadium... Hope the Awka Stadium will have complete cover round the stadium?
I pray this will materialise. What is the capacity of the new grandstands?
It is disheartening to hear of the deteriorating facilities at Okigwe stadium. This lack of maintenance is endemic in our system. Uzodimma administration must not allow facilities like this to decay into obscurity, even though it was constructed by Okorocha's government. I wonder what is the state of Orlu and Owerri stadiums.
kettykin: Thriving in the face of adversity , isolation. Marginalization, economic downturn , financial crisis. it seems God has a real soft spot for igbos.
Within a month I have randomly counted projects running into more than $10b in the south east
...and you will keep counting. This is the way to go. Strive forward despite the obstacles. In the future realm, these hurdles will be pillars of inspiration and admiration. We remember that Imo airport was known as the Biafran formula when the people didn't wait for FG to fund and construct the first state sponsored airport.
AkinPhysicist: Take your foolish Ibo politics away from our football.
Nonsense and ingredients.
How is this tribalism? Its your likes that are triggered into a tribal frenzy when a certain PO is mentioned. Just savour this collective victory and put that tribalistic mindset of yours in the gutter.
Abagworo: YouTube video driving through Orlu. Still looks empty even in this yuletide period. The poster is asking of it is safe and my answer is it appears unsafe with scanty human and vehicular activities
Entprys: Why wasting such money in a town where nobody is at home ?
Typical ignorant post from an ill-informed. It's obvious you've never been to the SE, let alone heard of the town. Here's a little fact to educate you. The SE is still one of the densely populated regions in Nigeria along with the Lagos/Ibadan and Kano, Kaduna/Abuja axis'.
Anselem86: I was in owerri last two days they have started reconstructing the demolished ICC but I don't really like the prototype Hmmm when they finish sha
Ebubu2: alex ekwueme federal university ebonyi state dave umahi federal college of medicine ebonyi state akanu ibiam federal university of science and technology ebonyi state
Ebonyi is not playing with education
He still plans to establish lay the foundation stone for two new universities; University of Aeronautical Engineering, Ezza and University of ICT, Science and Technology, Ikwo. Pray he performs these feats in the senate.
ChiefOtunist: Close to Onitsha Business Park.. Saw the Cubana Mall on Insta. Jowizaza bought that Filling Station at Ogbunike Toll Gate, while Don Climax is building a Terminal Bond Opposite that Toll Gate. Ossy Container bought that big empty plot of land behind J. I Ejison office and warehouse. Ogbunike is not doing bad for itself lately..
wizzyvibes: According to the contractor of the Awka township stadium, this is how the stadium will look after final completion. It would be built in phases. Obiano would soon complete the first phase of the project. This is the full rendering of the stadium when completed
sanctity454: Aladinma mall should be sold or leased out naa,
Sold and converted into a gallery/museum for goodness sake. It is shameful that as the smallest geo-political zone we have the largest amount of abandoned/uncompleted projects in the federation.
Philipxxxx0: He is always a failure, why he did not buy made in Anambra SUV by our own son.
His character is questionable. I still recall his indebtedness to the banks and roping in Cosmas Maduka as a guarantee to offset expenses/debt for shipment that didn't materialise.
proeast: When I see all the potentials wasting away in Owerri, it always makes me want to go crazy.
Firstly, I want to appreciate the efforts of government in beautification of roads within Owerri and it is amazing how it is fast changing the outlook of the city. The interesting thing is that these are just remedial works yet its impact is far reaching!
Owerri is about the only city where outsiders always troop to yet it has very little or no tourism attractions with only the Nekede zoo available. The state government should do the following to augment the Owerri urban renewal and boost tourism:
1. Please and please, why can't that area around Akachi tower and Otamiri be turned into a massive botanical gardens? Restore that tower, bring all kinds of flowers and tree plants, build bamboo tents and create beautiful paths with White sands. Some of those bamboo tents can be rented out for restaurant and bars. With the entire area barricaded with entrance gate and car park.
2. If you're driving from Warehouse towards Control, and you see that wide Nworie river and its beauty wasting away, can make anyone feel bad. Plant coconut trees along the banks of that river and use white sands to cover the banks, you automatically have an exotic beach within the city! Then build bamboo tents behind it that can be rented out to food vendors, bars and other related services. Make sure it's well iluminated with colourful lights for night activities too. Bring a couple of boats that will be providing rides for a fee. Add children arena with all those play things. Make it accessible with a car park.
These things won't cost billions of naira but their impact on Owerri would be massive. Owerri already has probably the most vibrant night life in Nigeria. But that can't be the only viable tourism attraction!
Now that the roads are looking beautiful with its wideness and aesthetics, doing these 2 things I mentioned here will boost Owerri's appeal as a place to be for fun seekers and also help to attract more investments.
This is another direction from the subject, but does anyone knows any proposed universities in the pipeline that are yet to come through in Imo state? Being the highest number of applicants, it is a perpetual issue that needs to be addressed.
RIP Wilfred Agbonivbare, The Boss Stephen Keshi, Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Goals father Rashidi Yekini. Thanks for filling my youthful years to be proud of Nigeria, through your scintillating services for the Super Eagles.
Mini-stadium? Hardly any seats provided to view the pitch from ALL sides. Even though its incomplete, I k no ow the final result will be very disappointing.

Owerri seems to be upholding the status as the busiest domestic airport in the country.
