Meristem stockbrokers has really disapointed me. I sent them a payment request since on Tuesday they debited my cash account and processed the payment, and even sent me a mail that my money has been processed. But up to now they have not transfer the money to my bank account. I sent a mail to them this morning but they did not respond, I called them and they did not pick.

I don't know what else to do I suppose to invest that money into ETH cryptocurrency since yesterday and now ETH has started to rally
might be a blessing in disguise..................... more over it could have gone either way..............anyway im not in any way holding sway for them

There are a lot of good economist both here in this forum and in the country....... What we must all understand is that Politics supersedes economics, since our leaders don't determine the direction of world politics they play in the realm of world economics, which is a tougher battle.........

On the issue of Devaluation, we have to understand this is usually the easiest option for a nation that controls its currency and most leaders of developing nations choose it cos they get to spend money @ prior valuation before it gets down to the masses......... No government fully understands how devaluation affects the masses............

The reason why we need leaders with Good political vision and also followers that will be willing to be followers when the economic prosperity from good policy lands

Could it be that the creators of Nigeria put in fundamental flaws to enable them control this entity...........Nigerians should pray that there should be nothing left in 4his country for the west to exploit if it wants to move forward else this rhetoric would continue forever

Hello Experienced Investors:

Some background -I have used 2 stockbrokers in the last 12 years, just realized I have 3 CHN numbers, I'm not receiving all my dividends and generally unhappy with poor service received so far. I tend to just save money with treasury bills/mutual funds since losing faith in my stockbrokers.

I want to see all my shares and transaction records in 1 location, have just 1 CSCS/CHN number, and eventually trade and reinvest dividends by myself (transaction value max of 150k per annum). What do I need to do? Can anyone recommend an online platform that is reliable, with reasonable/clear fee structure and is user friendly? Or am I being unrealistic? I have seen MorganCapital mentioned a lot on this platform, are there others that people can recommend?

Thanks!
u sound like a long termer........If u are not a frequent trader, I suggest u go for a brokerage house with good customer service........I suggest meristerm

The essence of steady cash flow in form of dividends, coupons, rents, profit from business, salary can't be overemphasized when investing in the stock market, while hoping for turnaround of the companies you have Invested in, praying for capital appreciation, the steady cash flow will give the investor peace of mind, pay his bills, keep him going while patiently hoping for the ten baggers yes people do get 1000% capital appreciation from the market over a period of time
In fact minimum, one should invest in any one stock is #1 million, that way your gains and margins would make sense, also Good stocks on the nse are very uneventful so when black swan events like covid19 take place you buy more....... Highly unlikely we see d likes of zenith @ 11 except Nigerian banks comply with imf directive of not paying dividends this fiscal year

The Brewery Sector has faced significant challenges in recent times caused by increased excise tax, changing consumer preferences and lower disposable income. Nevertheless for the following...

International Breweries - Battered from all sides in the last 18 months or so, the price appears to be at consolidation stage at its long term support level. I advice investors to have this on their watchlists. There remains a very small probability prices could drop to sub N4, otherwise it will range at current price levels into Q3. A number of interesting things to watch out for is return to marginal profitability by Q3 20 as debt service commitments drops materially after successful rights issue. Debt/Equity ratio moved from 2.24 in January 2018 to 6.18 in December 2018 to 35.32 in December 2019. It now stands at 0.65 as of March 2020 which is not ideal but a great improvement from past periods. Rights issue effect was applied 100% to reduce debt. Revenue is not challenged but the company will need to focus on operational efficiency to make headway. Attention is being paid to this with wholesale change in management between late 2019 to now. Finally, they need to figure out how to stay out of NBs way. Have this on your watchlist but this is not an advice to jump in now. Strictly not for JIJO folks as there is no room to maneuver here.

Champion Breweries - Fundamentals are okay with ready made market. Not recommended for long term holding. For Jijoist, if you can, jump in at 0.75k - 0.78k and plan to exit at 0.99k - N1.00 range. I believe these price ranges are all possible before year end. Another approach is to look at that 99k exit price and pick you entry based on returns preference.

Guinness - This can get to 28.49 in next few months if not weeks if market divergence from overall economy trend continues.

Remember, do your diligence or get alternative opinions on these companies and their likely price actions before taking any action yourself.
There is only one thing on the lips of international breweries Management and it's how to deleverage.....They are currently working for the banks and various creditors, I will know a turn around in this industry is near, when the bells of restructuring kicks off, the kind currently going on in wapco and uacn......This can only come about in an atmosphere of favorable govt policy...........

The AIICO q1 result is a continuation of aiico's management practice of depressing the financials to keep the stock price low so they could finish whatever they need to do. The current need is for the MD that was appointed lat year and had no shares before to accummulated shares and is currently doing it at relatively low price. Look at that q1 results again. The last line is a finance cost of slightly over =N=1 billion naira. This is a company that is flushed with cash and government securities. The only liability in their book is the IFC loan of $7 million. I will even grant that included in that finance cost is maybe =N=350 million in the depreciation of the naira and you add that to the normal quarterly cost of about =N=50 million related to the loan. That is still =N=400 million, a good 600 million less than what was charged. But you know what, let's even leave it as the first quarter charge, unless naira completely goes to the gutter, it will not recur in subsequent quarters. That gives you an idea of what the year will look like. This is is addition to an unexplained charge of =N=975 million that AIICO continues to charge every quarter to add to the 'other contract liability' line. By the end of the first quarter, about =N=6 billion has been accummulated on that liability line that AIICO has never explained to whom or what product they owe the money to. Every quarter, it's a charge to the P&L with a credit to that liability. I have checked the financials of other insurance companies and they don't have anything similar. Lastly, you have to consider that the Leapfrog investors bought at =N=1.20. they are no fools if you research into them. They must know what they are buying into.
Ordinary MD, where are the board of Directors and Majority Stake-Holders........................... AS an MD Why wait to receive ur share from Bottom Line when You might as well inflate the cost of Premium Written, I must admit in corporate circles the kind of allegations being laid here should result in the type of Show down going on between Wale & Mangal of Oando..........emmanuellewummi once mentioned of when Access tried to stage a hostile take over of Afri-Bank and how It was Countered, I should believe Majority Owners are not sleeping...................................................................................................... Anyway Aiico is on my radar but I would patiently wait as I dont see Aiico in the league of Custodian in 5 years time

Teachers pay constitute the greatest draw on a School's resource.

Crisis has not passed in Nigeria oo. We are just starting. Not close to the peak at all.

Consulted for a leading school in PH. Teachers were told to pick between half salary in April and May or full salary in April and no salary in May. They picked full salary in April. Now that may is here they are wondering whether they will get paid in May. My question is where will the money come from?

Employees need to consider the business when making demands. It is like a pilot resigning from Virgin. Which airline will employ him now? This is a problem affecting the sector as a whole!
Money now or money later.......They all chose money now........May we never be under the mercies of the laws of economics and human psychology .

THE DRUM IS BEATING.
Recently, there is a new campaign for brokerage firms to merge and recapitalize.
The proponents of the campaign opined that less than 10 stock brokerage firms are responsible for 80% of equity transactions in the Nigeria boss.
Should this proposal of RECAPITALIZATION / MERGING sees the light of the day, it means the retail traders are in for high brokerage commissions.
Presently, the commission ranges from 0.5% to 1.35%
I wonder why the terrible government of the North always make things hard for the productive people of Southern Nigeria.
We do the work, earn the money, pay the tax, spend by the directionless government of Northern Nigeria.
It took a determined campaign by the Olusegun Obasanjo regime in 1999 to lure the present generation of retail investors to the market.
Now that our generation has embraced the market in our quest for financial freedom, the body language of this government of the North is to make us pay more brokerage fee.
I can recall, VAT was removed on equity investment and transaction in an effort to encourage retail investors to participate more actively in the market.
Recent statistics shows that the domestic investors participation in the market currently stood at 54% vs 46% for Foreign investors.
Should government insist on the recapitalization and merger, who will pay the imminent increase in brokerage fee that will accompany such exercise?
I have no apology, this government is blind and deaf. She does not listen to people. Her personal interest of Northernisation of the whole Nigeria is the interest of the country.
In Nigerdelta, where the mainstay economy of Nigeria is located, we have no gut. The official language in NNPC is now HAUSA.
All the top management positions, 23 out of 26 is filled by hausa fulani.
To worsen the matter, the graduate trainee scheme was essentially reserved for the candidates from Northern Nigeria.
Buhari has destroyed Nigeria.
After removing the VATs holiday that was introduced by GEJ, he is bent on making us to pay more.
What is left for our deaf president is to rechristened the nation FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE NORTH.
NO apology for any of the readers of this view from the North.
Speak to your people, tell them Nigeria does not belongs to only the descendants of othman danfodio. It belongs to us all.
After destroying everything in Nigeria, Buhari is bent on destroying the NSE and SEC. Go ahead, we are fully diversified.
NYSE, LSE many of us are already there.
No one is insulting the wicked northerners, they are the one insulting and destroying the nation.
Your President sacks a southerner, he replaces with a northerner.
He sacks a northerner, he replaces with a northerner.
You shout one Nigeria while you believe in only Northern Nigeria. You have grossly divided this nation.
We are marching on. You cannot be in power forever.
The glorious days of NSE shall return after the expiration of Buhari tenure.
This just shows we all descended from Adam by looking for someone to blame for our shortcomings instead of Admitting our failure and taking the consequences..........

I laugh when I see such post.............

One company I still dont understand is Notore, at the start of Planting Season this year, Fertilizer went scarce especially urea and sold for 9k a bag............ Farmers that did not anticipate the scarcity had to purchase else where, I know of many that joined hands and purchased Urea 3 states away from their resident states........ Word has it that Fertilizer Producers are putting pressure on Government especially State Government to remove fertilizer subsidies......... But NAHCO did not make any revenue in 2 months and this might continue for another 8 weeks or more, where do you expect the business to get money to pay the workers.

NAHCO tried, most companies in the Aviation sector told their workers to proceed on leave without pay. Arik paid 20% in April and sacked 80% of the workers at the end of April. They might be recalled when the aviation business bounces back.

We are in a difficult situation, unfortunately we are all in this together.
