What nonsense transparency and significant cue for others to follow? The bank has earmarked virtually all its PAT (Profit after Tax) to cover losses, they could have simply utilized part of the profits for this purpose and equally paid dividend regardless the amount paid. First bank did earmark part of its profits for same purpose as Oceanic yet they paid dividends + bonus to shareholders; that is "corporate responsibility". Other banks (Zenith, GTB, Access & co) have paid dividends in the same financial year. Oceanic bank's action is tantamount to gross misconduct, negligence and callousness towards shareholders, yet it is believed (rumored) that their staff are the highest paid in the banking industry. When I say shareholders I refer to the shareholders that plunged their hard earned money (salaries, sale of valuable belongings etc) into Oceanic shares, and having lost over 75% of initial investment, even a pittance in the name of dividend would have given these shareholders solace. Giving shareholders a bonus issue of 1 for 10 is inimical because the value of their (Oceanic) shares are almost worthless and cannot even be sold! |
saintauch: omokafe:@ saintauch & omofake, Oceanic Bank has just (today) released its results for 15months ending Dec. 2008 without paying a farthing to its shareholders instead earmarking over N40 billion to cover for losses. According to you (saintauch) they delayed releasing their results for a "GOOD REASON". We all now have an inkling of the true state of affairs. Dont you dare refute my statements anymore!!! |
hakinyemi:If your figures are correct, why should Oceanic bank be paying 4.2million per annum as salary for graduate entrants? Rumour also has it that they are the highest paying bank in the industry. Why isnt staff remuneration commensurate with return to stakeholders? That fat woman had better start justifying and rationalizing this recklessness. It’s now July and she and her cohorts are yet to release results for 2008 and pay dividends to shareholders; that is if there's any more money left in their coffers to do so if the recently published news by Punch categorizing Nigerian banks viz: the strong, satisfactory, shaken and weak that classified Oceanic as shaken is anything to go by. I heard of a dude that got a humongous unsecured loan from them and then disappeared into thin air. Same guy was confirmed to be globetrotting and frolicking in 5-star hotels. This is just a tip of the iceberg of a lot more that havent come out in the open |

mahal:Isnt there a term called SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET? |
asha 80:Yes indeed, why is Lagos State waiting on a paralyzed Federal Government and a mumu-ish President to fix this road? Yet LASTMA is on this same road harassing motorists. I have plied this road in its chaotic condition. You dont wanna be there. For someone that returned to Nigeria with hope of change, I tell you words cannot express my disgust and fury. We are in a mess in this country and Nigerians take it as life/business as usual. No light, no roads, business is a struggle and you need XXL resilience and perseverance to survive in your business. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would have remained abroad. Oh God of creation, guide thou our leaders right |
Please kindly advice if it is proper and healthy for a pregnant mother to breast feed a 9month old baby. I have tired researching online but cant find answers. Serious and professional inputs only please. |
I had Vista-phobia until I was compelled to use Vista having bought a new laptop with Windows Vista. All my softwares were Vista compatible save for my printer. All in all Vista is more efficient and faster than XP |
@ Poster Research and experience tells me that there is a 99% chance she will remain an infidel as the tendency is already there. If you dont have the heart to leave her as you hinted, then brace your heart for further impact in future. My experience is on the reverse side, sometime ago I met this really pretty girl and had something going on. I actually had good intentions that could ultimately have led to marriage, but I started noticing a few things like she would suddenly want to go somewhere when we were together, sometimes late in the night, her story was always that her dad was looking for her at home meanwhile she was then in Unilag and was supposed to be in the hostel, the only time I was in Nigeria during her birthday, I wasn’t invited for the party in her house but she came to my house immediately after the party, also she hardly takes her calls in my presence and calls with my phone and immediately erases the number/s. Sometimes she would switch off her phone for the weekend in my house. It took a lot of pressure for her to allow me visit her house, on my first visit I noticed her mom was cold but thought it was normal towards a first timer, on my second visit I was confronted by her boyfriend of so many years and her mother strongly took sides with him, I understood the situation and was even embarrassed, as a matter of fact he opened my car door and ordered her down and she obeyed and at that point it was clear to me were her allegiance was. I thought it was over but it seemed the beginning. She called the next morning pleading that she didn’t want a scene in her house that was why she behaved the way she did bla bla bla and kept coming to my house, at that point I already ruled out possibility of marriage and didn’t mind having her come over. This continued and somehow her boyfriend got my number and called to appeal that I leave her alone that they have been together for over ten years. I felt guilty and decided to back out finally but she didn’t want to and still pesters me. I have stopped all the gifts I used to get and don’t tell her whenever in Nigeria but she somehow knows anyway. @ Poster, based on the way you poured your heart out my advice is that you review your decision to stick with her because I see you are really hurt, and I hope you dont commit a crime of passion when it happens again because I sense it will. |
Your outcry doesn’t come as a surprise to me. I know for sure that Nigerian banks harness every money spinning opportunity in sight. One of the banks my company banks with has colossal investment in the industry we are involved in. I am pretty sure some banks may delve into tomato selling in the near future. My advice; maybe you ought to have done your ground work thoroughly (intellectual property protection etc) before approaching the bank with your blueprint. Count it as an experience rather than cry over spilt milk. |
There are too many radio stations in Lagos and sadly these days I cant simply listen to one at a time in my car because the frequencies jam in my car radio and its really frustrating. One minute I'm on Rythm, the next minute Cool Fm interupts and starts playing and then Rythm back on and then Top Radio. Does anyone know the cause of this inference? For favourite/s, for me it used to be Rythm or Cool Fm but since Dan Foster left Cool Fm the station hasnt been Cool for me. I also tune in to Brilla Fm for Sports and also like Cool Fm's Sunday morning Praise jams. Rythm remains top choice for me but but there's a guy I dislike his show (Onome a.k.a Biggie or ElBama) or whatever he calls himself. His show is too childish and not Rythm-like. |
Beauty beats the Beast. Usual pathetic Chelski defending a lone goal; apparently unconscious of the havoc an equaliser will cause. Slowly but surely, negative football will be erased from the surface of the earth. |

femzy:Thanks for your concern. I've been a Gooner for over a decade and that isnt changing because of the staus quo. |
I saw this coming. We were beaten fair and square. The team needs to be overhauled. I doubt if Wenger will, as he is reputed as the ONLY man in history who does the same thing and expects a different outcome. Damn Wenger and his youth policy. Giving a full grown man like me heartaches. |
As I said earlier inconsistency comes with inexperience. The boys couldnt up the ante for their biggest game of the season and were second best all night. Nerves frayed. Adebayor and Fabregas were muted. What the hell was Diaby doing on the left flank, Nasri deep in midfield and Fabregas upfront. It looks like another trophyless season. Only a miracle will change that. |
What a country! With I.G. of Police there with 10,000 of his men, they couldn't enforce Law & Order to prevent common & political thugs from disrupting the election. If they had, it would have been impossible for the "invisible" shot-callers to remote her to the point of doing a "Humphrey Nwosu" |
I've been edgy all day, cant wait for the blast of the whistle. Hope my boys do me a favour tonight. Their inconsistency makes it impossible to predict but I want an away goal at the least. |
@switch47 I know your type: you are mentally confussed, lack self-definition, zero personality and above all a lowlife. You rank below chidichris as he even has a defined obsession for something, you have nothing. You are obviously not in my league. tata |
@switch47 Your brain has obviously switched into hibernation mode? How dare you speak of me in such despicable manner? If you do not have firsthand information, do not rush to ignorantly type copied vocabulary here. Besides your borrowed jargons only qualify as mumbo jumbo. Learn to be constructive if you must repeat what people have said like a broken record. FYI chidichris started the folks reference and he got adequate reciprocation. The link below will inform you better if you are desirous to be informed. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-265429.0.html |
@Meldrick You have simply brought your ocular deficiency into public glare. MAITEMA is conspicuously different from MAITAMA in spelling and has different meanings. Furthermore I hail from Southern Nigeria. @ chidichris Your illusory and averse belief that if one does not appreciate Mikel's "progress/prosperity" he therefore will not progress/prosper is laughable. I presume you have a secluded red-curtained room with a Mikel idol, his pictures, native chalk, sprinkled blood etc. were you do your praise and worship. I implore you to sense the rationale behind sound and reasonable criticisms like mine. Only that way you may advance from homo-erectus to homo-sapien |
@ Meldrick ye Sodomite, cursed be thou. @ chidicrhis If Mikel had a sound, refined and articulate representative/defender in this forum rather than a Arrow like you, I strongly believe posts in his defense would have been duly considered and maybe respected. A homo-erectus like you defending him makes matters worse. |
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-265429.0.html @ chidichris, You have once again exuded your idiocy and insolence. With the garbage spewed from your bacteria infected mouth you have made it glaring that you come from a rotten home, and the society and community will continually be rotten and produce halflings like you. If you cannot live with me with me pointing out Mikel's shortcomings then submit yourself to your cannibalistic community for guillotining. @ Meldrick My career gives me ample time to browse websites on the internet (nairaland inclusive) at my spare time hence contributing when I deem necessary as I have done in this case. If you have a problem with getting your life organised then your existence is pitifully tragic. |
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/8016412.stm This boy is taking the wrong path. Someone better talk sense into him before he destroys his blossoming career which is still in its embryonic stage |
The only positive that can be taken from this match is if Arshavin’s quality convinces Wenger that he needs some more quality to blend with his young guns, at least a world class defensive midfielder to foil Fabregas and shield the defence, and maybe one or two central defenders. That way I am certain that we Gooners will kiss a trophy next season. For now I will accept our fate of inconsistencies and uncertainties that come with inexperience but in the same vein I duly hope these young guns pounce on Man U, Chelsea/Barca like a pack of wolves for the champions league which is still within our grasp. I wave my wand saying to yee mountains between us and glory in Rome come May 27th; wingardium leviosa |
I dont get it. Did OBJ get carried away? or he deliberately violated a law he signed into existence, believing he is above the law? If so it tells me one thing; that those who make and sign laws into existence in Nigeria do not believe in the same laws. Simple! |
Simon Peter is crying wolf. If he had knocked out "Fast" Freddie before the end of the bout would the judges have had the opportunity to "rob" him? In my opinion, he lost confidence after the Kiltchsko beat-down and it will take a miracle for him to become a yampion again. Is Don King still with him? I'm sure he (King) must has jumped ship as usual as he is a reputed fair-weather friend of in-form boxers dating back to the days of Ali. |
Customer service in Nigeria is abysmal! I have had numerous experiences, but the most annoying was when my car had a fault and my mechanic advised that the only place I could get genuine BMW spare parts is Coscharis Motors warehouse in Kirikiri. After a tedious (bad roads) journey within Kirikiri town, I got to a point where I was directed to park because of road work and had to trek almost a mile under hot afternoon sun to get to to their warehouse location. A heart warming reception would have eased my pains instead what happened was unbelievable! The attendant at the spare parts desk was unbelievably brash and terribly rude for a Customer Service attendant/Receptionist/Sales Girl whatever title she held there. I greeted: good afternoon, surprisingly she hummed in response. I didn’t even know what she hummed and didn’t want care at that point. I went on: please I am here to inquire if you have …? She said: wait I will check Her response was so lukewarm that I emphasized my statement and said: I said I am here to inquire about… She then said: give me your chassis number? I provided that. All this while she was visibly typing a text msg on her phone, and had her attention was 100% on her phone whilst talking to me. She continued with her phone msg and I became impatient and said: it would be courteous if you give me proper attention and check if you have what I am here for , and do that later. It was then she made it clear to me that I was second priority to what she was doing. she said: oga I said I will check for you just wait, ah ah I then realized I had no option than wait because continuing arguing with her will mean more time wasted. And after truly waiting for some minutes, she lackadaisically asked me to confirm my car chassis number ( I was certain she didn’t take note the first time). I gave her again and she started checking their computer and the most annoying part of all of this was that she was acting as if she was doing me a favour. After checking, she said: there is only one showing in the system but let me go and check the shelf if it is there or if it is wrong packaging. I said: why? She said: sometimes it will show on the computer that the spare parts is there but when we get there it is the wrong spare parts that is in the carton. This girl then took a lot of effort to get up from her seat and in the process made a call from her mobile phone! she then walked about 2-3 steps, stood still and finished her call before leaving, and after a long while came back to say that they didn’t have the spare parts, that it was wrong packaging as suspected, and that if I want I can go to their cashier’s desk to pay the FULL amount for the spare parts and then wait for about 3-4 weeks for it to be in stock and then I can come back and collect it, or I can go to Ladipo to look for it. You can imagine how I felt. I thought for a moment to report her to a superior staff but then thought; if she had the audacity to act in this manner, then her action will be a normal thing there! My conclusion; my time wasted, frustration doubled, I had to trek another mile under hot sun to get to where I parked. On my way back I was thinking; wait a minute, this girl receives salary and does this to customers? I then thought Coscharis didn’t have competition and as she rightly said you can go to Ladipo and look for it, knowing that I wont find it there or that if I did it would be fake. I ended up calling a friend abroad to assist me in buying the damaged parts and then courier to me. At the end of the day I spent about 60k to get it, and the price she quoted for me was 85k plus. I have seen poor customer service in Nigeria but that Coscharis experience was the height. |
@ topic I dont think so. Westerhof is a pseudo coach-cum-politician. During his Super Eagles days, it was Bonfere Jo that had the technical & tactical input. What happened to his career after the Super Eagles job? Zimbabwe? He failed there. All Westerhof did was talk and muscle himself over the NFA and somehow had unfettered access to Aso Rock/Aikhomu. He then came to Holland to pick a very good coach (Bonfere Jo). He combined both and succeeded. I must also add that our players couldn’t intimidate him which is a quality I suspect Amoudu lacks. I also don’t think Amoudu can handle Super Eagles and in the same vein I will be cautious to call for a foreign coach as solution now because the mess Berti Vogts made is still fresh in our minds |
@ FBS, After your suggestion that the so called spewing stop why didnt you direct your rant to the poster who subsequently continued? If you oppose my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. All you need do is clearly stick to your view/s rather than slyly pose as a "peacemaker" and them take sides with chidichris & co. How old I am? Disclosing that will be too much information but I will tell you that I am old enough to have eked out a life for myself, well read, lived in several countries for 2 decades apart from my motherland and if I am not older than you, I am certain that I am definitely wiser than you. Home training? I definitely had a good one and accordingly passed it on Again in your interest, this topic is about my opinion that Mikel is a failure as Super Eagles playmaker and I posit that continually using him in that position will ruin our prospects to come back as a superpower in world football like we were in the 90's. I don’t have a problem with him being drafted to the defensive midfield position which he is now very good at. I further made my suggestion of players I prefer we use as playmakers in the interim until we get a very good one. Someone responded that those players were not the answer and his point was taken. If you believe Mikel has excelled as Super Eagles playmaker or rather a good one contrary to my view, then be straightforward enough to make your points and quit camouflaging. @chidichris, I suspend wasting time on you for now, your masters/superiors have reared their ugly heads in solidarity and they seem worth taking on for now… |
