Mogidi: I'm beginning to love Ben Bruce daily, a leader in the making. The guy may end up becoming one of the best senators Nigeria ever produce. He's loaded with great ideas because he did his homework. I like his electric car revolution plan. If he can rally round his colleagues and drawup laws empowering car manufacterers with special emphasies on electric vehicles, the multiplier effect will be huge. More employment opportunities will be created. To make matters more exciting, Ben Bruce's electric car blueprint will lead to massive reduction in fuel consumption perday. A perfect plan to destroy Cabals in the oil industry. |
Politics › Re: South African Mercenaries' Secret War On Boko Haram by major466(m): 10:17am On May 12, 2015 |
madridsta007: The neo-colonial revisionists were always going to come, weren't they? The find it odd, certainly repulsive that a black nation should be portrayed being able to solve its own security problems without 'help' from the West. It is odd, reprehensible and certainly a wide deviation from the single-story of African nations being able to solve its own problems. And then they spin beautiful lies- this time, a spurious claim of white mercenaries coming as divine commandos to solve the problem of the black man.
Nothing can be further from the truth. And don't tel me South Africans are still Africans. There's a reason why this writer uses the 'white' South African construct. A reason which is as old as colonialism itself. The distinction, the classification, them vs us; the differentness, one side the helper and the other side, the helpless.
We see through that veil. Easily.
This is as malicious and spurious as it can get. In the first instance, why would South Africa allow such to happen- South Africa which is in diplomatic animosity with Nigeria? South Africa that botched Nigeria's attempt- not once but twice- to purchase arms from its country? This clearly does not make sense. And if the mercenaries were covert, why did South Africa not expose these practice- as it did for the $9.3m black market arms purchase that Nigeria attempted?
It was weapons that prevented Nigeria from winning the war and certain internal infractions she had. The weapons eventually came from Russia and China and at that time, the successful advances began by the Nigeria military and its West African multinational partners. Not the neo-colonial hogwash of 'white mercenaries'. Unsurprisingly, no one residing in the affected areas of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa State have seen these mercenaries. Are these 'mercenaries' also ghosts?
We seem to forget that it was the Nigerian military that won the war in Liberia; that won the war in Sierra Leone; it was a Nigerian lead battalion that saved the Americans in the hands of the hardened Somalia militia in Mogadishu after their two Blackhawks were shot down. It was the Nigerian military that sent the largest battalion of troops to neighbouring Mali which was being overrun by tribal terrorists, before the French came. Anyone conversant with the truth knows this. Hands off, revisionists from our history. We can tell our stories by ourselves. You said it all. I find this article rather mischevious. The west hate Africa so much that they will do anything to potray Africa and the black race in particular as sub humans unable to solve their own calamities. Calamities they (the west) invented, funded and armed for evil purposes through covert operations. |

lyntiffany: yes major I concur, your absolutely right about that but who and who is gonaa do that? The likes of ezekwesili that should steer something of this nature is busy chasing shadows. My opinion though. We Nigerians can sponsor bills to the National Assembly. Something like 'Bill seeking for Reduction of Salaries of National Assembly members'. You got that right. The likes of EzekweSilly is just pained because she was left out of GEJ's government. |

lyntiffany: would be glad if he carries that out but as major466 has rightly mentioned it will be a hard task for him but wish he can accomplish that cause those money mongrels are one of the reasons our country is still this way. So much to squander on them with little or no input from them. If Nigerians of all walks of life rally round to demand National Assembly members cut down their salary packages, am sure they will heed to the call. Its the duty of all Nigerians to hold their lawmakers responsible. |

The Jonathan government is once again denying journalists their right to free speech. This is the same government that unlawfully detained 2 press men from Aljazeera during the elections
Jonathan is a disgrace and Nigerians cannot wait till the 29th of May to see the end of this mistake of a president.
Barcanista, when are you going to caution Jonathan for this pathetic and undemocratic act?? At least we all believe that media freedom is crucial for the development and strengthening of our democracy. This is a good sign. However the two Aljazeera journalist you cited broke the law when they entered a military operation zone without military clearance. You can't enter a military zone without clearance. This is standard practice worldwide. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Urged To Slash Presidency, National Assembly Expenses By 50% by major466(m): 9:56pm On May 11, 2015 |
Except a deliberate legislation by legislators themselves is drafted to reduce salary expensies of legislators, there's no way Buhari can go out of his way to reduce National Assembly Members salaries without risking constitutional battle. The National assembly is an independent arm of government, not an appendage of the executive. For now, the President has no powers to slash salaries of National Assembly members. |

Politics › Re: Why Bola Tinubu & Muhammadu Buhari Marriage Is Falling Apart by major466(m): 8:28am On May 11, 2015 |
Am not surprised. The influence of Tinubu has always been a thread to the North. They tolerated him all this while because they need his influence to win the election. Now that the election is over, the major task now is to reduce his size. Northern agenda will be in jeopardy with Tinubu close to the corridor of power.

Beaf: Exactly! I don't understand what is wrong with people that they need to seem to have cred by jumping on any populist bandwagon they learn about; even if it means them spitting on themselves.
I posted a very telling article and some pics (of a mansion with goldplated walls) that depict the true state of Nigeria's oil industry and how a handful of the core-Northern elite not only earn twice as much as the entire Niger Delta does from oil money, they also own 80% of the indegenous oil industry. It was done through "gifts" from generals and oil ministers. They can muster more liquid cash than the entire country without lifting a finger. Anybody who does not expect a brutal fightback from that clan really has to do a sharp rethink. They are fighting hard and they are fighting dirty. They do not want NNPC privatised, neither do they want the KPMG audit report to ever see light of day.
