budaatum:Midstream should be privatized, USA's midstream is the biggest revenue generator for the common man. Once everybody gets a slice of the pie in Nigeria, i believe the security situation will abate. corruption and vandalism is stoked by the people knowing only the bourgeoisie are reaping the benefits in the oil and gas sector. |
Two agencies regulating Nigeria’s oil industry have reported very different figures for the country’s oil production, leading to confusion and concern about transparency. According to the Nigerian Vanguard, the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) recorded a 17% shortfall, with approximately $3.3 million at stake. The NUPRC claims that Nigeria’s actual oil production for April 2024 was 1.28 million barrels per day (mbpd). In contrast, the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reported a higher figure of 1.7 million bpd. This 400,000 bpd discrepancy highlights ongoing issues of theft, corruption, and mismanagement in the oil industry. NUPRC reported that oil production increased by 4% in April, up from 1.23 million bpd in March. However, they also noted that overall production for the first four months of the year fell short of targets by 33 million barrels, a 17% shortfall. Meanwhile, NNPCL reported a much higher output of 1.78 million bpd for April. According to Vanguard’s Energy segment, data showed that the total oil production for the first four months of 2024 was 182.75 million barrels, less than 85% of the government’s projections. NNPC Limited CEO Mele Kyari blamed the shortfall on theft and pipeline sabotage, calling for increased efforts to address these security challenges. He also pointed out that poor infrastructure is a significant issue. “It’s not just about theft,” Kyari said. “No one will invest in oil production if the oil cannot reach the market.” He mentioned that the government’s security forces have dismantled nearly 6,000 illegal pipeline connections and 600 illegal refineries over the past two years. Kyari highlighted the difficulties faced by those with marginal oil fields. While they are drilling, they struggle with transporting the oil to the market. “Everyone is thinking of barging, but it is not economical,” Kyari noted, explaining that transporting oil by barge can cost between $7 and $21 per barrel, which is not sustainable. “Barging is not normal, but it’s what we are doing today,” he concluded. |

In the ongoing travesty of justice that defines our beloved nation, the case of Yahya Bello epitomizes the rot within the Nigerian judicial system. It is nothing short of a national disgrace that while she is swiftly tried, judged, and sentenced within a mere 24 hours, those in the corridors of power continue to roam free, untouchable and unaccountable. This stark contrast lays bare the selective justice that pervades our society. In Nigeria, the axe of graft and corruption falls disproportionately on the low cadre and the economically disadvantaged. The poor and the powerless are made scapegoats, paraded before the courts and the media to give a false sense of justice being served. Meanwhile, the bourgeoisie and the politically exposed individuals, who plunder our nation's wealth in billions, escape without so much as a slap on the wrist. They are never arrested, never questioned, and never held accountable for their egregious crimes against the state. These individuals blatantly defy the government, refusing to appear for interrogations or questioning, their arrogance and impunity shielded by their wealth and connections. This gross miscarriage of justice not only undermines the rule of law but also erodes the trust of the average Nigerian in the system meant to protect and serve all citizens equally. It is an indictment of our justice system that those entrusted with the welfare of the nation are the very ones who bleed it dry, facing no repercussions while the common man bears the brunt of their greed. This selective justice is not just a flaw in our system; it is a cancer that threatens the very fabric of our society. The Nigerian government must be harshly reprimanded for allowing such blatant inequality to persist. We demand a justice system where the law is truly blind, where the powerful are held to the same standards as the powerless, and where corruption is eradicated not selectively, but universally. Only then can we hope to build a nation where justice prevails, and every citizen, regardless of their socioeconomic status, is treated with fairness and dignity. |
I dont understand this Atiku and Obi noise. They have lost on a joint ticket. They have lost on separate tickets. Any party fielding them are only going to lose again. |

Ike Ekweremadu, a Nigerian politician, was sentenced in the UK for organ trafficking, an offense taken very seriously under British law. To commute his sentence or secure his early release, the Nigerian government and his supporters can pursue several strategies. 1. Diplomatic Efforts Engage in High-Level Diplomacy Bilateral Discussions: Nigerian officials can engage their UK counterparts in discussions, leveraging diplomatic channels to advocate for clemency or early release. State Visits: High-profile visits by Nigerian leaders to the UK can include negotiations for Ekweremadu's release as part of broader diplomatic talks. Appeal to Commonwealth Ties Commonwealth Channels: Nigeria can utilize its membership in the Commonwealth to appeal for leniency, highlighting the shared values and historical ties between Commonwealth countries. 2. Legal Appeals and Processes Exhaust All Legal Avenues File Appeals: Pursue appeals against the sentence through the UK judicial system, arguing for reduced sentencing based on various grounds such as procedural errors, mitigating circumstances, or humanitarian reasons. Seek Legal Representation Hire Top Lawyers: Engage renowned legal experts in the UK who specialize in criminal appeals and human rights to build a strong case for commutation or retrial. 3. Humanitarian and Medical Grounds Present Medical Evidence Health Conditions: If Ekweremadu has any serious health issues, his lawyers can petition for his release on humanitarian grounds, citing the need for specialized medical treatment that may not be adequately provided in prison. 4. Public and Media Campaigns Mobilize Public Opinion Media Campaigns: Launch campaigns to raise awareness about Ekweremadu’s case, emphasizing any perceived injustices or humanitarian aspects to garner public sympathy. Social Media Advocacy: Utilize social media platforms to create movements advocating for his release, involving influencers, celebrities, and the general public. Petitions Public Petitions: Organize petitions to gather support from both Nigerian and international communities, presenting them to UK authorities as a sign of widespread support for clemency. 5. Engage International Organizations Human Rights Organizations Amnesty International: Seek support from international human rights organizations like Amnesty International to advocate for Ekweremadu’s release or sentence reduction. United Nations: Engage UN bodies, particularly those focused on human rights, to intervene or provide support for his case. 6. Leveraging Nigerian and African Diplomatic Influence African Union (AU) AU Intervention: Request the African Union to intervene on Ekweremadu’s behalf, appealing to the UK government for clemency based on pan-African solidarity and humanitarian grounds. Diplomatic Leverage Trade and Cooperation Agreements: Utilize ongoing or potential trade and cooperation agreements as leverage, proposing concessions or collaborations that could incentivize the UK to consider leniency. 7. Goodwill Gestures Offer Reciprocal Actions Prisoner Transfer Agreements: Negotiate a prisoner transfer agreement between Nigeria and the UK, allowing Ekweremadu to serve his sentence in Nigeria where he might have better conditions and more family support. Humanitarian Projects Goodwill Initiatives: Nigeria could offer to engage in or support humanitarian projects that align with UK interests, using these as goodwill gestures to encourage a favorable decision. 8. Personal Appeals Appeals from Influential Figures Religious Leaders: Encourage influential religious leaders and organizations to appeal to UK authorities for mercy on humanitarian grounds. Prominent Individuals: Engage prominent global figures to make personal appeals for clemency, leveraging their influence and networks. Conclusion Efforts to commute Ekweremadu's sentence require a multifaceted approach involving legal, diplomatic, humanitarian, and public relations strategies. Success depends on the coordination of these efforts and the strength of the arguments presented. The Nigerian government and Ekweremadu’s supporters need to act strategically, ensuring that all potential avenues are explored to secure a favorable outcome. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, please intervene and let them release Ekweremadu, let him come home and serve the remain jail term in Nigeria. Do not look at how the Southeast tends to treat you. Be a bigger man and extend some help to a senator like yourself. If we Nigerians do not plead for him. His own brethren are so fixated on everything non-Nigerian. FREE EKWEREMADU.

With all the crises going on in Nigeria Our wives shouldn't open their purse to the government is the only thing this Rep can advocate for. But when you are governor she becomes first lady ? When you are president she becomes first lady ? So if Yahya Bello tells us all the money belongs to his wife.....How do we know if its true or not ? Albeit the insecurity, the deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning, the run away inflation, the interests rates through the roof, the maternal mortality, the lack of adequate primary health care, the rising cost of rent across the country, the food crises, suffering pensioners, rising unemployment.rising international debt profile All Wale Raji could think of is his wives purse. How did we end up with this kind of mediocre representation in Nigeria !!! |

House of Rep/ Senate Time to set up legislation to protect the citizens especially children !!! Carbon monoxide alarms should be placed in houses with generators It should be law !! They are cheap and affordable they plug into the wall like phone chargers. If the carbon monoxide is detected the alarm goes off. Too many people dying in generator fumes and leaky exhaust on long journeys in traffic.

Willie2015:Where are you getting your news from ? The whole world is in support of a 2 state solution. Just yesterday he was asked on BBC. I saw the news my self. He said no to a 2 state solution. They want to annex and control Palestine, that's the end game, they are afraid to say it out. But all actions point in that direction.

These people have the audacity, after centuries of colonizing, raping, and looting countless countries, to now adopt a moral high ground over one convict and use that to judge an entire nation. We understand that you dislike the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Well, guess what? We love them. We reject your Western narcissistic tendency of hating someone just because your friends do, without judging them for who they are individually. It is shameful that a 1200-year-old monarchy is capable of such hatred towards its own kin. Only God knows the depth of hatred you brought to Africa as colonialists. Do you truly ever want to see our success as a country and as a continent? Or are you just a frenemy when it suits your convenience? We will not stay silent. If you continue to write such biased articles, we will continue to respond. How many of our leaders have visited Buckingham Palace, with Prince Andrew (a convicted child molester friend to Jeffrey Epstein) included in the welcoming entourage? We did not go online and shout about having a child molester in the palace. Enough of this one-sided nonsense. Nigeria is a sovereign country, and you will accord it the respect it deserves!
