waooh been following this conversation and its been very much informative, and now I decided to drop my2cents I would say Nateevs is a very smart guy with limited information, with more information about what is happening in Africa and business in Africa most of his ideas are going to be very great I think Mr Globe has solid points but he fails to elaborate on the points he makes hence you can underlook everything he says because its not explicit. I suspect its because he is typing off his phone on the highway ![]() Truth be told a chain of libraries in Nigeria will help in the short term (Mr Globe style) and in the longterm (Nateevs style) if you look at it very well Apple started the iPod when they already knew they will introduce the iPhone, iPad, I assume this because the series was systematic which means they had say a 10yr plan if you setup a chain of libraries, they will become the store fronts to sell these kindles and e-readers as supplements for the hard book business overtime and then they will gradually replace (if they will ever) the hard book business, this way you are ready for the future yet having a life not starving to death. Nateevs believes more in the western culture where people have venture funding and they can starve for 5yrs while buidling the business that will last the next 30yrs and start making profit from the 7th year (Amazon.com facebook.com) but I say in Africa physical libraries will be the phase one of the project, then as people come into the library they can be introduce to kindles and the library can get these master cards, fast wifi and e-reader assistants that will help these Parents, students, kids on learning how to buy these books online, then this becomes an extra reason to go to that library, remember people will be going to the library for books and things related to books which is but natural that they will be happy to listen to a sales person in the library tell them about these new tools and to me the chain of libraries will now become a very strong partner for Apple, Amazon, Google, Samsung, they will see value working with an established books source all over Nigeria please I am just sharing my idea ooh thanks 1 Like |

you can now search jobs that are available on all websites in Nigeria via www.njorku.com/nigeria so go there and start searching. you might be lucky one of these days |
![]() |
thanks @slyr0x appreciated |
![]() |
well you need a job like I said in another post. you can use this tool www.njorku.com/nigeria and search all jobs available on all websites in Nigeria. this way you will use say 5mins and find jobs that you can apply for, but men to get a job is not easy, first you need to have experience |
![]() |
guy you need a job then simply search all Nigerian job websites by using this tool www.njorku.com/nigeria or create an email alert that will send you ICT jobs everyday from njorku.com good luck |
![]() |
@dotorfox thanks what in particular we need to improve ? |
![]() |
@remoranger finally we have fixed that ranking issue for africa wide searches. let me know if you still see old and expired results first or if it shows the recent ones first or still shows the old and expired ones for this your test query: http://www.njorku.com/search/jobSearch?query=chemical+engineering&country=-1 thanks |
![]() |
recently we rolled out www.njorku.com a job search engine for Africa and you can use it to search nigeria only jobs, it searches all major nigerian job sites and its index increases by the day. you can also browse the jobs and see recent jobs aggregated here www.njorku.com/browse or use your mobile phone to search for the jobs on the go via www.njorku.com/mobile imagine searching all the nigerian job sites in one place, nairalist, naijahotjobs, jobberman, and then visit the actual site only when you find a job for you, also create email and sms alerts ![]() |
![]() |
@Oyadasme thanks for your feedback, we will see how to show most viewed (really cool idea). as for they leaving to other sites we cant do much, we are only a search tool but we will try out other options to make it sticky |
![]() |
@Remoranger I opened that link http://www.njorku.com/search/jobSearch?query=chemical+engineering&country=-1 and noticed that the first 4 results are a month old but the 5th to 10th are about a week old, did you notice that too ?? its still not perfect as we have to make those first 4 that are a month old disappear so thanks that is noted, any more reviewers ? |
![]() |
ok thanks a million, that is a known problem and we are trying to figure that out, seems the volume in case of africa outweighs the time factor, we not perfect yet but if you note my link, it will help you for Nigeria, we go fix the Africa thanks a million |
![]() |
@Remoranger your feedback is taken seriously what I meant was njorku.com provides search to jobs available in Nigeria and we dont create jobs. so if there are not jobs, our engine wont do much to you in that category. and definitely cyber cafe time cost a fortune thats why njorku is needed to help you buy 10mins and scan most nigerian jobs available for you in say 5mins then go home and try again tomorrow you can also have it on the go www.njorku.com/mobile on your phone and we hope MTN nigeria will accept to offer this free like o.facebook.com but we are not yet perfect but not as bad as you put it. but thanks all thesame we will go back to the drawing board and fix most of what you mentioned, work in progress ![]() PS: I just did a search for same chemical engineer and I am getting the first result is a week old here http://www.njorku.com/search/jobSearch?query=chemical+engineering&country=ng&x=70&y=13 so what are you talking about ? plz help me reproduce this by sharing the link so I can see the problem as you see then my team can fix it, merci |

@Yawa-Ti-de thanks a million for that, will work that out very fast |

ooh thank you very much, if you try a search for say graphics designer in nigeria http://www.njorku.com/search/jobSearch?query=graphics+designer&country=ng&x=89&y=14 I see results as early as a few hours ago, and I understand that some keywords show old results, we cant do much in this case if employers havent posted jobs in the past one month but thanks for that feedback, so please check this page http://www.njorku.com/search/jobSearch?query=graphics+designer&country=ng&x=89&y=14 and tell me if you still have those conserns ?? what of the design ?? |

hey guys recently my team and I launched www.njorku.com and our mobile solution www.njorku.com/mobile I will be glad if the ever active nairaland webmasters can review this for us and so we know how to be better as we are only a few days old regards |
![]() |
hey webmasters I am lead developer behind www.naijaborn.com our team is currently working on a new way to find and locate businesses in nigeria, which will be hosted on www.naijaborn.com/business (not yet working) I have been searching with no results if there is any platform out there that has business profiles of any sort where business men can easily represent and manage their business online for free. I need your inputs and also tell me what features such a platform should have to help expose Nigerian businesses out there kind regards |

@Donpuzo I hate Joomla because , the time taking to build a professional site using joomla ismore than the time I will take to build thesame site using HTML and CSS or from scratch with php. But the advantage is that I end up makign more money from the client the other way round wihtout Joomla. the link to naijaborn is www.naijaborn.com show ya sef |
![]() |
@Dunpozo I use my custom CMS or build from scratch faster using Frameworks which speed up database development with techniques like ORM. Or I use Joomla or Drupal or Wordpress depending on the specific Job and budget yet I hate Joomla, hence why I didnt develop naijaborn or any of my projects on Joomla |
![]() |
I still HATE JOOOMLAAAAAAAA |
![]() |
all I can say is I HATE JOOMLA |

![]() |
@Maven box, I know your not a terrorist ooh. but a girl in programming appears pretty to any programmer without even any words, pictures or videos so whats you number ?? |
![]() |
yeah the poster is really observant, how could he notice that. I barely notice the ads and I guess a lot of users barely notice them hence the reason the ads should be taken off. If Seun is working on ways to engage Nigerian business men to buy space on this site, then he is beginning to understand a lot of things. I remember arguing with him that he could do better asking Nigerian businesses like Glo, Etisalat, GTBank, Zenith, etc buy ads directly from him with his own solution that might revert to adsense when he has not ad in the space and he sent me to Adwords ![]() time is the best teacher +1 |
![]() |
@Dual Core i guess @ Maven Box is all mine now ![]() |
![]() |
@Webdezzi the pride of saying that I have alot of skills and I cant do sites lower than 20k naira. even if the client just wants 5page static site do you get me now ?? |
![]() |
@Yawa what is bad is not what Ruppert is doing, but the way he is doing it. insulting King of Web while taking that step. in other words. the best way fight is not to challenge the president because you will be dead in no time ![]() Most people dont have the habbit of paying for news, but they could, though its risky. Some can do it like you said the financial content seekers but are you sure google will not get sources with about 80% equal content and then present it for free ?? at the end of the day they will loose credibility amongst Google fans and also loose web traffic to their site, but like I read they dont care about the latter. but Mine you Google doesnt make money from news search and its not like news search is google.com ![]() ![]() |
![]() |
waaooh nice read alot of ideas and alot of rants and all good. To me its about what the client wants. also at what stage is the industry in Nigeria right now. I guess its in the web 1.0 stage and even when the founders of the Internet as in USA were in the web 1.0 stage or the begining of web sites 1994 to 2000, you will realise that their sites too were not that appealing. Trust me, give the clients what they want when they want it. else you will starve. My team can handle from www.mpyraa.org to www.bygtee.com to www.naijaborn.com, and some of clients pay us as low as 15K naira and others pay as high as 400K naira. Guys its about giving them what they want and forgetting the pride. Even if you know all these HTML, CSS, Fireworks Photoshop, Dreamweaver, .NET, J2EE, cakephp, Joomla. the final thing is using what you know to make money. thats all I have to say |
![]() |
Guys stop yabbing them naaaoohhhh, they have learnt from their mistake. we all learn as time goes on. but the best make mistakes and correct them. thats where I say they are doing good. I am sorry for Rupert Mudock who is trying to do thesame with his news websites. putting them on subscription so that Google will not index it. he too will learn like Punch lol |
![]() |
Hey guys I am currently working on a solution and I would like to know if there are any Nigerian based sites that have open APIs that I could leverage and build my app client to consume them regards |
