Ado/Otta is huge, Otta is an Industrial Town with a growing population of both educated and not-so educated middle class. Most young people in Iju, Atan, Lusada, Kajola, Adie Owe, Owode, Igbesa and idi-Iroko areas of Ado/Otta are not motivated to further their education and the few ones who do want a career in customs or cross-border bussiness. This type of orientation is also common in Ipokia and Ilaro.

Ambassadors is not far from the main road and it is located in Otta proper, the school had won Cowbell Mathematics competition on several occassions and I learnt the owner is the uncle to our Seun Osewa, about 50% of the students are from various parts of the country. The owner of Ambassadors is a retired marketing strategist for one of the foremost phamaceutical companies in Nigeria. The Bells is owned by former President Obasanjo, this school is an International School. The school is located in Otta quite alright, but I doubt if 25% of the students are based in Ogun State. Faith Academy is owned by Winners Chapel, the students in the school are from various parts of the country and the globe.My cousin who is based in Eket Akwa Ibom state has his 3 children in Faith Academy. You can not compare the part of Otta where Ambassadors, The Bells and Faith Academy are located to Iju which is a rural area of Otta when going towards Idi-Iroko border. The owner of Cleveland may not have the marketing and business strategies and ideas used by the owner of Ambassadors, he may not have the name, connection, political clout and the financial muscle of the owner of The Bells, I am also sure that he does not have the cult followership, connection and financial muscles of the owner of Faith Academy. It is not fair to compare Cleveland with those schools listed above.

Cleverland schools are yet to get teachers? Not surprised though after the principal decided to offer me 10k as salary,simply because I had only passion for teaching and my 1 year experience was not enough.....I pray they get the best recruitment.....# We shall get there!

Unfortunately more than 95% of youths in that area do not have the plan of going to higher institutions, because they make big money from smugling or transporting smugled goods. The school may not be able to get teachers who are domiciled in that location. School business is not that lucrative in that place, I hope the owner of the school will not be frustrated to the point of converting his property to ware houses, hotels, Petrol station, Church,Poultry farm or a factory.

That means you are not a born teacher. It is the passion that keeps one going when difficulties and discouragements arise. It is the passion that takes one to the pinnacle of our careers. When the passion is no longer there, then one is dead career wise. Teachers need to learn how to work smart and should be versatile in various fields of human endeavours. Teachers should learn about investments and financial literacy.

I can smell a scam from a distance. What type of venture will the fund be invested? When the return on an investment is too good to be true, then it is not true. But why are people trying to scam teachers? Is it because teachers are so gullible?

Are you a graduate, have you done NYSC. Your NYSC allowance is a good seed capital. I did my NYSC in 1997 at Abeokuta, a fellow corper from FUTA believed nobody would employ him because he made a 3rd class in Electrical Engineering. The guy used his NYSC allowance to buy laminating machine, which batch A corpers used in laminating their discharge certificates. The profits made from lamination was used in buying a computer, he later got a place which he used as a business centre at Pansheke. From one phocopier and one computer, he grew to 6 computers and 2 copier as at the time we finished NYSC. He decided to stay back in Abeokuta after service. I used to frequent Abeokuta after NYSC because I had a babe in the town. Each time I visited Abk, I always checked on my guy and found out that his business was growing. He introduced computer training and later internet browsing to his clients and customers. The biggest break came when GSM was introduced, imagine making profits of about 5k on every line sold, he also diversified into sale of phones and computers. The last time I saw him in 2011 he now has 2 properties in town.One of the properties is a shopping complex, while the other has a bank as the tenant. All these happened within 13 years.

Well your case is better and quite different from most people on this thread. You are unemployed by choice and because you have alternatives, were teaching up to 35 periods in a week. I am sure some Nairalanders will not mind taking that 22k job for a start.

I can still vividly remember how fashola demolished tejuosho market at yaba to build a shopping mall all in the name of Reconstruction.

It is almost 2years they have finished building and commisioned that tejuosho market. Infact, they have commisioned it 3 times, yet the place is empty, desolate and rottening. Make yoruba traders go collect the shop na. I always laugh anytime I pass there, you will see girls dancing while music is being played, begging igbo men to come collect shop.

I implore my igbo brothers to go start a huge motor parts market in the south-east were the whole of africa can come an patronise them, like how innoson located his motor plant in Nnewi. Near the market, land is quite costly but you can get a plot for 1m at a town away from the market.

The point i was actually trying to make is that it is very possible to erect twin building at a plot depending on the size and competency of the engineer.

What type of competency will make a qualified engineer to design a house of 12 apartments on a floor and house has 4 floors making a total of 48 apartments on a plot and a half. I doubt if things are this bad even in Police barracks, the project you described above is a disaster waiting to happen. The officials who approved such a project need to be dismissed.

If you've not been to south east do not dispute that at all. Because around my house at BUILDING MATERIAL INTERNATIONAL MARKET OGIDI, you'll buy a plot and half and erect two 4 storey building flats on it, yet tenants are happy paying 10-13k monthly .

Then I doubt if land will sell for N2 million in such an area, the money used to deck the twin 4 storey building is higher than N2 million per floor.
