The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari
(retd.), has prayed for everlasting peace to reign in
Nigeria and around the world.
Buhari, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for an
investment summit, said the prayers when he visited
the Mosque of the Holy Prophet Muhammed, Islam’s
second holiest in Madinah.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and
Publicity, Garba Shehu disclosed this in a statement
titled ‘Buhari prays for everlasting peace in Nigeria.’
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari
continues his visit to Saudi Arabia with a brief
stopover at Madinah where he observed his evening
prayers and engaged in intense prayers, along with his
entourage for the return of peace and security all over
Nigeria and the world at large.
“The President who had earlier been received at the
Prince Muhammad Abdulaziz Airport, Madinah by the
Deputy Governor of the Region, Prince Sa’ud Al-Faisal
spent quality time at the Mosque of the Holy Prophet
Muhammed, Islam’s second holiest, engaging in
prayers and recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
“President Buhari and the delegation prayed for the
well-being of the nation and its people and for the full
restoration of peace and security in Nigerian and
around the globe. Prayers for the economy, ravaged by
the pandemic to fully recover for the benefit of the
nation and its people were also offered.
“The President will later on in the evening proceed to
Makkah for the performance of the Umrah (lesser
Hajj).”

Students of the Federal Government
College, Yauri in Kebbi State abducted four
months ago by bandits have been
released.
Yahaya Sarki, the spokesperson to Kebbi
State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, confirmed
the release of the students in a statement
on Thursday.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how bandits
abducted an undisclosed number of staff
and students of the public secondary
school in June.
Mr Sarki said 30 of the students have
regained freedom but an undisclosed
number remains with the kidnappers.
“Today Thursday, the 21st of October,
2021 thirty (30) students of the Federal
Government College, Birnin Yauri have
arrived Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State
capital following their release, while
efforts are still continuing to secure the
release of the remaining.
“They shall undergo medical screening
and support while being re-united with
their families.
“We thank all those who have helped in
securing the release, while congratulating
Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari for
the success,” the governor’s
spokesperson said.

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday October
19, Public Holiday to mark the Islamic festival of Eid-il-
Maulud, a “commemoration of the birth of the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)”.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the
declaration on behalf of the Federal Government,
through a statement signed by the Permanent
Secretary in the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore.
Aregbesola congratulated the Muslim faithful both at
home and in the diaspora for witnessing this year’s
occasion.

He admonished all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of
love, patience and perseverance which he said “are the
virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him), adding that doing so would guarantee peace and
security in the country”.
“Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians, particularly
Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and
other acts of criminality. As the indisputable leader of
our race, we must show responsible leadership in
Africa.
