udomonday:
I have one million naira am not using.please any idea of a good investment I can make with it?please no ponzi schemes.
Investment? Hmmm....
Your surest investment is to invest with your bank but the rate is low.
Why not startup a mini business you can easily control?
Examples are:

Selling Chicken and Chips, Shawarma: you necessarily don't need any office or store which will save you funds, just book a space on any hot selling junction in your area or any financial institution closed to you, startup, employ someone and make sales.

-Toasted Bread and Egg | Indomie Shop: Rent a mini shop and get started. Similar process above.
You can make up to 5,000 daily.

Moreover, if you're willing to invest the said funds in a viable business, I have a business networking platform with startup entrepreneurs you can invest in.

BusinessRe: How To Start A Mini Manufacturing Paint Company by Mannyemmy(m): 5:48pm On Jun 05, 2021
amadasunfarm:
My fellowl businessman please I need your corporation and your advice on how to start a mini paint manufacturing industry in Nigeria with 5 million naira approximately $10,000. Thank you for your suggestion
You can start where you are.
Firstly, register the company, about $200
Expect to spend about $2,000 on painting equipment, inventory, and other supplies. You can rent a vehicle for a start for marketing or if probably you have one, that's fine. Create a website for more audience and bookings.($200), organize local PR events ($100 - $200) and online and offline marketing (up to $1000). Miscellaneous and other fees will make up your budget.

Now, let me ask you, what's your vision in starting up this business because there are several painting industries across Nigeria?

My business strategy for you when starting up this business is to hire professionals in the painting industry and make quality paint, add some painting tools( like brush etc) to the paint package when marketing and also offer free painting services as a promo when starting to get a large audience.

Best regards.

BusinessRe: Why Do I Have A Negative Account Balance? by Mannyemmy(m): 5:25pm On Jun 05, 2021
dboY1123:
Someone transfered into my Gtbank Account a sum of #4,100..I received the alert of #4100 but the balance is -6 naira.
I tried to transfer myself from my other account to my Gtbank a sum of 200 and that came as 193naira.
I want to know what's happening.
Thanks.
First and foremost, we are not Gt bank, so call their customer care and explain to them.
Moreover, if you have the Gtbank mobile app, you can login and download your bank statement to know what happened.
If I may ask, are you owing any online loan? If yes, they probably automatically debited you.

Best regards
InvestmentRe: Business Advice Needed!! by Mannyemmy(m): 5:17pm On Jun 05, 2021
ucheszona:
Good day people, please I really need your advice on this issue of Employing someone. I have a POS shop which I run currently and I have plans on opening another shop at a different location far from this one but the issue is getting a trustworthy person since we all know managing this kinda business is kinda risky when it’s being done by an Employee. I know of the guarantor’s form and all that but still scared as that’s still gonna take time before I recover my money if the employee absconds with it. I was thinking of scaring them with juju first but then I realized not everyone would buy that as someone like me wouldn’t swear even if I’m innocent. So please kindly give me your advice on how to handle something like
This cause I really have plans for the business. Thanks
Op, first and foremost, you have to understand that business is spiritual, so as a Christian, I will advice you to be prayerful.
Secondly, from your post, it seems you're scared. you have to be bold and fearless when running a business. All those your JuJu things won't work at all, instead "Smart work!".
My advice for you is to employ a female worker, know her bio data(name, age, state of origin etc), make her sign her employment, agreement and guarantor form. Make sure the guarantor is a worker and you know fully what the person does. Also do an inspection and know where she lives. Let her least qualifications be SSCE.
Sincerely, you're good to go and don't forget to pray for the business.
Then as for you ucheszona, don't in anyway play with her, let all your discussion with your employee be business related and always pay your employee as at when due and by the special grace of God, you will have no worries and problem.

Best regards.

BusinessRe: Hello from the U.S. I Need Legitimate Business Suggestions. by Mannyemmy(m): 4:50pm On Jun 05, 2021
Blazeen:
I live in the U.S. Please I need some legitimate business suggestions I can do on the side from here in Nigeria.
I can also assist with information about businesses in the U.S to the best of my knowledge.
Please do not suggest any illegal business, the Police here don't kids around.
Firstly, what's your budget for the business you intend to startup?
Secondly, How do you intend to manage the business from US? Only you? or do you intend to hire a personal manager or call on a family member to help you manage the business?
If it's the former (Only you), then I will suggest you opt in for online businesses idea only while if you have people onboard in Nigeria to help you manage the business, then you can choose to startup a offline business.
Moreover, my business ideas for you are:

Importation of US used Phones, laptops and Accessories: You will have to do your research in the US to know the places where you can get cheap and quality US used Phones, laptops and accessories and sell them here at a higher rate. You can automate the whole process and track every sales and delivery by developing a web application for it, increasing the business security for you in the US.

Online Lending Business: Not withstanding the fact that Nigerians are heavy debtors, the online loan industry is still booming and new loan companies are emerging daily. The strength and security of your funds in this business is determined by the functions you implement on the application. All what you have to do is create a web application, integrate it with some purchased banking API and automate the savings of the loan applicants bank cards for repayment in case they default and you're good to go, Moreover, you will have to register the business and get someone to get court order for you so you will have high limit amount in any payment gateway you intend to use in the disbursal of the loan. You can personally monitor all the whole process wherever you are in the world.

Starting up a Sneaker Shop: You can do your research in the US and get cheap and quality sneaker and open a Sneaker shop here in Nigeria. Hence, most of the youths are now into cyber crimes and all what they do is fashion and car, you will definitely make lots of sales.

Middleman Car Dealing Business: This is somewhat a side business idea and you aren't spending a dime. It simply requires you looking for cheap and flashy, quality and unique brands of cars in the US and create a repository of car lovers in Nigeria and market it to them, hopefully, you will get a buyer. You can also create a web application for it and pay marketers and you will definitely make sales. Once any potential buyer shows interest, you start the delivery as soon as possible!

NOTE: These are ideas you can startup, manage and control yourself from the US.

Best regards.

Back here in 2021, anyone with good idea?

Note : 2018, I finally invested the money on bitcoins and bitcoins actually swallowed everything. Now I was able to gather another 10million. Any good deals?

Please don’t ask me to invest in your business or we do partner something because I won’t be interested. Thanks in advance
Firstly, sorry for your lost in 2018. Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency are not really a viable business, rather a speculative business which is more or less like gambling and that's why most billionaires on forbes list and rich people at large don't indulge on it.

You can startup a fintech platform and be earning hugely as most banks are overcrowded these period due to covid 19 guidelines and many persons are embracing the fintech space in Nigeria.
Although, I don't know your current location, however, Food is constantly essential. You can rent a shop and startup a restaurant, do some billboard advert and can as well digitalize it by creating a website and/or app where people can order and get the food delivered at their doorstep.
You can as well open a bakery. Here in my area, there is only one bakery and the area has a population of thousands of inhabitants and hundreds of shops. You can as well startup yours after doing a market research in your area and employ professional bakers and do your own unique style of baking the bread and do home delivery and you can add ice cream and as well digitalize it to ease the business for you. You can also open a grocery shop. You will do your research and buy your farm produces from places in Nigeria where you can get it very cheap. You can as well digitalize for larger audience with a well packaged branding and start making sales.
Your capital is also a good one for starting up an online lending business with very low risk having an automated web application for the business and getting your desired return on investment monthly.
You can also startup a food processing business and start with frozen food production. You can also start a private refinery business by starting up a kerosene depot. it's in high demand these period we are.
Importation is also a good one, you can start with importation of phones. Create an online platform for it to create more awareness, then rent an office and you're good to go.
Lastly, you can also open outlets in any hot selling landmarks(Most especially markets places) in your area and start up a standard and corporate thrift contribution company, commonly called "Ajo" or "Esusu" You will employ professional marketers/workers whom will be well dressed in branded wears and they will go about the area or market and convince business men/women to start saving in your company and you will offer them different savings packages and they will definitely be turn up as i have personally not seen any corporate Ajo company in Nigeria!.

If you need more business ideas, brainstorming section, market research and business development, kindly mail me via nairaland.

Best regards.

Good morning house,

I am intending to create a website with a .ng extension but the hosting company (American) does not offer .ng extension. I’ve decided to buy the domain name from another hosting company and then transfer the domain name to the American hosting company.

Please, does anyone knows the procedure of domain name transfer.

Thanks so much as I await your expert advice
You can simply just connect the domain name from the Nigeria registrar to your American hosting simply by changing the nameservers of your domain name to the American hosting's own and add your Nigeria domain name to your America hosting "add-on domain" in the cpanel and your Nigeria domain name will be connected to your America hosting.

Firstly, what do you intend to study abroad? Is it a higher degree program (masters or doctoral) or a bachelor's degree? If it's the later, you may end up spending much and subsequently squander the funds. I will advise you to establish a business that will be generating revenues for you, thereafter you may now reconsider going back to school if you really desire to acquire a degree. For the main time, I will seriously advise you to go visit a professional financial advisor or DM me.

Please I need your input, thanks.
Hence, you don't want a business that requires a shop(physical location), it simply means you're interested in an online business. Now, what online skills do you have to make sales? If you don't have any online skill(s), then you can startup an online store by venturing into affiliate marketing and display your affiliate products on your online store and get commissions when each product is being sold. Any other online business you intend to venture will require your skill unless you want to invest in a startup or company and receive certain dividend monthly for a particular duration.
best regards.

I have about 200k that I want to use by a year's time.

Please how do I properly invest it so that it can still be here and even have appreciated by that one year time.

Thank you for your advice
Consider starting up and investing in these and employ a either while you continue your day to day job.

-Selling Chicken and Chips: you necessarily don't need any office or store which will save you funds, just book a space on any hot selling junction in your area and startup. You go learn it yourself, not really hard to learn or you can as well employ a lady to be doing it for you.

-Toasted Bread and Egg | Indomie Shop: Rent a mini shop and get started. You can make up to 5,000 daily.

- Cleaning Service: quite easy to start, just walk around and visit the offices and organizations around you and tell them you are a professional cleaner and you run a cleaning brand that you can be helping them sweep and tidy their workplaces.
NB: You necessarily don't have to be doing these yourself, you can just employ some young hustling boys and you pay them.

- Car wash: rent a land space, liaise with someone to be giving you water and you're good to go. Employ boys them who whom will watch the car. I once had a friend who does these and makes nothing less than 50k to 60k monthly as his profit.

EducationRe: Can Nigeria Public Universities Really Afford The Cost Of E-learning? by Mannyemmy(op):
edoairways:
Mannyemmy as it stand now, uniben has limited funds. There are many factors to consider before embarking on online classes especially in our public universities. Some of the mitigating factors are;
1. Data cost: Some public universities lack WiFi connectivity to start with hence they may rely on data service providers. The question you should ask, who pays for the data? Don't forget some public universities are underfunded and those lecturers only fought for their pockets( ASUU strike). Don't expect some lecturers to use their money to buy data. Aside this, some students can't bear the cost of subscribing to the internet especially zoom video calls as it consumes about 400mb per hour. Assuming 5 lectures were to hold same day, they might use up to 2 gig . Some persons suggested in another thread that students should use their house rent to buy data. What they fail to understand is the fact that some students still squat in hostels (within or outside). They fail to consider poor power supply and high cost of fuel to power generating sets ( for those who have).
2. Poor network connectivity/signals: Let's assume that schools were to use Zoom as suggested by you, the sender and the receiver may have issues in their conversation. In most cases, bad network signal may disrupt the lectures. You have to consider the poor service delivery by our Internet Service Providers
3. Exposure: Some lecturers find it difficult to use Zoom. They may not opt in rather they may use WhatsApp ( that is if they can operate it.). To worsened things, they just send materials via that platform with the expectation that students may read.

EducationCan Nigeria Public Universities Really Afford The Cost Of E-learning? by Mannyemmy(op): 10:08pm On Feb 02, 2021
Due to the daily numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, most institutions has been forced to engage their students online.
My neighbour who just resumed school today in UNIBEN told me that they held an online class in a WhatsApp group and that he somehow likes it simply because of the stress of going to a physical class but he confessed to me that the WhatsApp class wasn't really engaging and interactive and I was furious why would a university like UNIBEN not afford a e-learning center in a notable platform like zoom or is that they don't have the money? What about other public universities in Nigeria?
My fellow nairalanders, I need your input as I intend starting up an edtech company to solve these problem.
