Certain laws have to be bent for people it can harm ? OMG twisted minds will never endLet me help you with additional "certain laws" that should be bent 1. All YahooYahoo boys should be left off the hook, as they are feeding their families and also training some people in the business 2. All corrupt politicians should not be tried. They have people in their employ, who have families to feed. 3. All Boko Haram suicide bombers should be let of the hook, even when caught, cos they also have people they feed. 4. All market women should sell their goods, even on the road from Abuja Airport to Aso Villa, as they are earning their daily bread. 5. Area boys should be legalized. If they are banned they'll take to armed robbery. 6. All Bank MDs under trial for monumental fraud cases, should be acquitted and dischared. As the continued trial will harm their family members and villagers Logicboy03: Corruption is the main problem and you seem like a political thug defending his daddy. |
Oga, You have just given what to me is the "stupidest" and sensless example to justify your needless cry. Some of you guys just do bad justice to the intelligence you claim to have. I wonder how you pieced this together as logic No need to argue further. Please tell all the aggrieved ex-Okada riders to take to armed robbery.....you could point houses for them to rob....if it would do you any world of good..... ....That's the logical thing to do considering that Osun in reality is a poor state. In Osun we need to get thr wrong mentality of "Civil Servant" state out of our heads. We need to be a commercial state for our lot to improve. For short term the logical thing to do is to target the business nerve centre which is Lagos. The last time I went to Ilobu, with 5k, I was dumbfounded with the food stuff the money bought, compared to the prices of stuffs in Lagos. I pity those farmers.... I watched video documentary on farmlands in China and how local farmers that were peasants some years back have be turned to rich folks. Aquaculture, Apples and Grapes plantations and lots of cashcrops. I was more impressed with the Buffalo rearing business, how a modest cattle rancher turned buffalo breading into money spinning venture. I sincerely hope this will be welcomed in Osun and pursued vigorously. My concern is that we may be beclouded by our conventional academic status and we feel such ventures are for "second class" citizen who in a few years will be millionares, while the graduate will be fighting for increase in "teachers salaries" ![]() ayee001: I have been following Ogbeni closely, I can say I'm very impressed with his actions so far. He seems to target Lagos market in anything he does. That's smart. |
@ Bros Gbawe, NEVER TRUST POLITICIANS. What unites and divides them is INTEREST. You'll be shocked the next time you see Mimiko and Tinubu/Fayemi/Aregbesola etc working together for another objective....... my prayer is that provided it furthers the sustainable development requirements in south west.....we are all the same Gbawe: With Ondo, folks on all sides (ACN and LP) should 'bury the hatchet', forget the past and join hands to move the SW forward. The progress of the region should be bigger than the egos of individuals. |
@ Oga Naptu2, 1. God bless you for your wisdom. I was wondering if there was not one single person that read this without any bias and with critical reasoning. 2. For me Fashola was talking about a complete, wholesome and renewed value system. Fashola is a good student of history. Why is the Chineese and the confuscious of these world. These are the same reasons why countries like China, Malaysia, Cuba, and even the Socialist have defined a path which is sustainable for themselves. 3. I also think our constitution is like a template that was simply filled up and does not reflect the realities on ground, hence the feeling of injustice will not bring out willingness in people. 4.These blended with Obi's submission will not only be the right way to go, but define our own customized and sustainable path naptu2: They didn't exactly disagree. I think the disagreement part was just a bid by the journalist to hype the story. I agree with both of them. |
It comes to me like you're someone who has a ready excuse for not making the stakes......I pray I'm wrong... humpito: Then u know someone at the board. |
Have you read the conditions? are your CGPA up to the requirements ![]() humpito: Scam of the highest order. I and several other postgraduate students applied but none of us was awarded this scholarship. Fashola is fond of propaganda. Smh |
The big deal are these; 1. These is money well spent and invested. 2. As against the old all comers affair order, this is actually merit based. 3. Are we not better off encouraging health academic comptetion in our schools to improve the lot of our young men and women, thereby improving th quality of our communities, states and country? This is about the second or third year these has been running. Since the previous VC, who introduce the scheme, LASU has been consistent with this. Unlike my days (I remember at the beginning on my Final year, when I took conscious effort to go round to force a collation of my 3-year results to be sure I was not going to get any suprises on graduation), results are actually published on the internet, immediately after exams. For me this is better than bursary. If these had happened in my days, my year 3 & 4 results would have fetched me the scholarship bory09: what is big deal we all know that this same scholarship will be shared among themselves. Favouratism and nepotism will be on point nothin more nothing less |
I was on the phone with my brother (A Lt. Col in Maiduguri formation) and I had raised this question of a joint border patrol, when he told me that moast of the Boko Hara foot soldiers attacking JTF are rebels from across the border - Chad, Niger, Somalia etc and these are his reaction and posers 1. We have over 1,500sq.km of border largely not well garded according to international standards. So they move in and out.... 2. The govt of Niger itself is almost powerless in curbing the menace of the rebels 3. There is not enough(or near next to nothing) database and intelligence on profiles to work on. He said at this rate, we are not keeping active tabs on the arrow-heads like America for example does. This he said is a necessary condition precedent to crush them quickly and decisively and afterward the rest will be irritants that will be swept away with time He agreed that there needs to be a renewed effort with neighboring countries on joint border patrols He also affirmed that regardless of the media report, those recently killed WERE NOT CIVILLIANS, but BOKO HARAM mem |
I disagree with Elechi Amadi as well when he said the gruesome act took place in only one of the seven communities in Aluu. Reality check!!! 1. The Head of Aluu was reported to have endorsed the mob action. 2. The Boys were taken from one location, through the community to the Head's palace and to the slaughter.. 3. The whole of the people were reported to have shouted "we no go gree" when the police requested the they hand over the 4 to them. I think it's a bit unwise to try to defend Aluu or any other community of mob actions, lynching and arson at this time when our collective sensibilites as Nigeria people is badly hurt. |
eerrrmmmm..... sir/ma, You've gone way to farrrrrr with this. Way too far........ belovedaja: this is why some of you will never prosper in life. Insulting an elder and a literary giant like elechi amadi is not good. |
EFFFIINNGGGG Liars!!! Delta State is one of the worst managed state in the country. My base office is in Warri (and Benin)and I have been to many of the communities... nothing worth it's sort is happening beyond Asaba (A capital that about half the size of Ikorodu). Warri is fast becoming a Ghost town and the inner villages are eyesore |
Is this a poem or something else ![]() Is it some drugs you're taking or should be taking..... Clairette: It has to be Dame Patience Jonathan anytime. That woman has got strength, vision, foresight etc. She's highly innovative and does not slack in pursuing her mission n fulfilling her set goals. Just like my Mum, Dame Patience is a very good example of the woman in Proverbs 31:10-30 |
The last segment of them the section XX just rubbished the essence of governors being Chief Security Officers. Provided State Commissioner of Police keeps refering to Abuja for clarification of instructions from governors, then the governors are not in control of the police. klas: As Chief Security Officer, the governor should have the final say on security matters in his area of juridiction but that is not the case, so he is not stupid. |
Oga Sir, "Akpangbo" is that somewhere in Enugu or Imo.....cos I'm sure there is nowhere like that in Lagos. We only have "Apangbo"redsun: Actually from ojulegba to akpangbo is a walking distace, people doesnt need vehicles for that.Walking helps to check potbelly,it saves money,it reduces congestion on the roads and saves the environment. |
mee too, try 3rd world country movies, Chineese translations on pirated movies and some west and east African movies as well afam4eva: I've seen some worse subtitles than this. Even in some Indian movies. |
There is no need to "get facts and figures to back your claim" in this case. Anybody familiar with the Oil and Gas industry will know the Cost indicator(KPI) is Cost-per-Barrel. That's all you need. It's inclusive of all your marginal cost, operating cost, exploration cost....... aribisala0: "You are in the industry" |
![]() OYINBOGOJU: So because you got delay in an hospital then the blame should go to Tinubu. |
![]() ilugunboy: Why are you guys giving this OP undeserved attention? By the time he check and finds 100 views and 1 comment..the thread would die a natural death. |
I'm not certain how informed you are, but with the falacies and flaws you've made here, it think I can take a peek. You've simply thrown out a lot of contradictions and you failed to make a meaning out of them. What sin is the debt profile of Lagos State in the context of the discussion. Given the indices of infrastructural development in Lagos as evidenced in the yardstick used to nominate only Lagos and Cape Town one of the most innovative towns in the world, I thought you'll have found a nexus between the debt profile and the development. Are you one of those gullible citizens that just gobble trash coming from the opposition party without rationalizing it?? Fashola doesn't spend half of Lagos revenue this is ridiculous! That you've made a bland statement without supporting it with facts......my brother, it's simply absurd. When was Lagos better developed by FG was it the days of Mudashiru to Oyinlola, that Lagos witnessed no meaningful infrastructural development or the days of Marwa that we had cosmetic projects from Direct Labour Agency The Metroline was killed and Lagosians and Nigerias were told such a project will never be feasible. So what sustainable thing are you pointing to that the FG did![]() dantti2006: Did u all see the debt profile of the states, Lagos is the most indepted state and what is fashola using all that money for. Fashola doesn't spent up to half of lagos state revenue on d development of that state because every developement in Lagos is private sector driven and lagos generates a lot of revenue 4rm taxes. Let's not also forget that Lagos has always been better developed than any other state by virtue of the fact that it was once FCT and just like how dey are developin abuja with Nigeria's money that's how lagos enjoyed that benefit too. Truth is Fashola is a thief like every other politician, I only commend him for at least making the policies that allow lagos thrive commercially but let's not 4get that the FG already developed lagos to be the commericial nerve point of Nigeria even during military Era. Now Nigeria as a how is a mass of underdeveloped lands and I doubt fashola can handle that as he inherited an already developed lagos. D governor I could give a try is Donald duke because he developed his state 4rm scratch and changed the houseboy and housegal mentality of his state as he made. Education free in all tiers for his indigenes are policy his successor as continued. |
![]() aribisala0: Can we stop the campaigning please?? Cleaned up which electoral system are we talking about Nigeria or Ghana.? What policies and programmes was GEJ elected on? Cassava bread and Boko Haram?? Or his rehabilitation of Bode George and Alamiesigha or the use of central power to install a new governor in his home state or his wife as Perm Sec or to come out and lie to us about Transparency International. Which policies exactly?? |
@ Oga AribisalaO, 1. Thankyou for puncturing that "Land Mass" illogic smoothly. I dare say that Oga Standing5 has simply contradicted himself. 2. With greater land mass an innovative government like Fashola's would simply achieve many things, key among them will be continuous and rapid expansion of the housing sector, opportunity to increase IGR in terms of property taxes, increase activities in the building sector etc 3. aribisala0: I am not an advocate of Fashola presidency so direct your sermon elsewhere. |
@ Oga SkyBlue, I beg to differ. I think in any dispensation and where leadership is concerned, mentorship is one of the events, action or factors that comes into play. The Tinubu angle and the impact in Lagos has been clearly analysed and reported on this discussion by several forumites and my very good self. Now to your question about what Tinubu's impact will be if Fashola becomes president? 1. I think you paint a narrow view of the scenario. For starters the equation that will produce a fashola, will not necessarily have Tinubu as the larger stakeholder. For starters in a CPC/ANPP/ACN/APGA alliance, how will Tinubu become the sole dictator? 2. Secondly, Fashola went through Tinubu's mentorship. It doesn't mean Fashola will be spoon-fed for all his life. Someone has rightly asked the question; what were the things Tinubu prevented Fashola from doing? I will want to align with with MalcomX and Eko Ile on the impact of Godfathers (credible and positive ones) on the hands of time in history. The concept of godfatherism and stakeholders is difficult to divorce from politics. Countries that managed it well are better off. The private sectors in are also stakeholders and looking at how they practically float and sponsor candidates to presidency and senate in the States, shows a classic example. Sky Blue: If Lagos is moving on then good for Lagos and good for Nigeria. The way you trumpet it as if I am secretly praying it was otherwise is what I find childish. I have already answered the question you accused me of skipping by explaining to you that if we are talking of Nigerian presidency (WHICH WE ARE), then it is not about what Tinubu has ever witheld or not witheld from Lagos because such is irrelevant. I would like to know what influence (if any) Tinubu would have on the supposed president and I see that as a legitimate concern. Imagine if it was Obama and Americans had to worry about a well known and arguably divisive figure in the background being able to influence the actions of the president for whatever reason, that wouldn't be legitimate? It is this insistence that any thought of such things is not valid that I find utterly disingenious. |
I am in the industry. Per Barrel cost of Oil is just averaging an all time high of over $20 and this is mostly adducable to security -MEND, 9jadelta boys issue. Oil Business has been one of the low cost with per Barrel cost less than $10 on the average.
Even if we make 40% of $104, that's still a lot of money. Where's the money?
|
Please stop spreading rubbish and lies. I grew up in Ketu. Since the days of Oyinlola/Marwa, public water was connected to my father's house. It has continued with subsequent governments. It may not have gotten everywhere, but there is good public water in Lagos States. Since the days of Tinubu to Fashola, considerably huge investment has been spent on water works. Last year Fashola commissioned an OANDO built power plant that is dedicated to Lagos waterworks alone, so they need not depend on NEPA. I wonder why some people display crass ignorance and laziness to read, find out about facts and current affairs, yet come to NL and post lies as facts. thelastPope: I don't think fashola has achieve so much in Lagos honestly. I stand to be corrected but all I see on paper and the news media, I can't find on the ground. Lagos still cannot boast of public water after 13 years of Tinubu and Fashola. How is that a great achievement? |
@Oga naturalwaves, 1. I do get your point. It's true, he may come up with his own plan and be successful.....and I'd just commented that I don't want to be misunderstood of not giving Fashola his due....far from it. 2. My point is simple about a system that works. Few years from now, we'll be discussing less about Fashola or Tinubu, but the system. 3. I was Finishing my first degree back then when Tinubu announced putting together a crack team to come up with the Lagos blue print, and you know as students then we read the blue print and dissected it. In that blue prints BRT was there, the PPP power project Fashola did and doing was there, In fact strong emphasis was made on Lagos generating its own power to draw investments, commerce and SMEs viability. Waste Management was there and a whole lot of stuffs. The composition of that committee itself was "intimidating" 4. That Fashola continued and his refining that blue print lend credence to the arguement that the success of a leader his highlighted in the success of his successor. We will not appreciate the full value of the work Fashola has done now till God willing he hands over to a capable, qualitative and proven leader with a well composed team, that will outdo his accomplishment, continuing his programs and bring out the best in them. naturalwaves: Well said! Fashola has a solid team to work with. Although, U made very good points, ur write up wasn't devoid of some obnoxious fallacies. D fact that Fashola is performing with the laid down plans does not necessarily imply that He would av been a monumental failure without that. He could still be successful. U get my point? |
Oga Sir, 1. Thanks for understanding my angle. I guess my initial concern with the angle I wrote will be to be accused of giving less adulation that Fashola deserves. I am not too bordered of the risk of being labelled an ACN goon. I am not. I don't belong to any party, but I follow politics pretty well and development trends. 2. Before I took my eye off the mark a bit (and I want to thank you again for bringing me back), these are my thoughts which you've highlighted. I think it is critical that we begin to build veritable and viable systems and institutions that works. Why has Lagos been able to produce Fashola? Had Tinubu not done his homework well and put a "politically-correct", we'll have gotten it wrong in Lagos. 3. For me leadership development is a key factor we need to look at seriously in this country. I did some research work on Isreal, India and South Africa a bit. Isreal was interesting to me because their leaders were seemingly practically recruited, schooled, trained and sent to the best universities and business schools in the states. From the BenGurion to Ehud Barak, Netenyahu etc you will notice a focus in planning the future. 4. What do we need in Nigeria? I agree we need a system that works. The current arrangement of Presidential system of government is largely ineffective and I wonder how long we can last on this. But what I also think is that we need to get back to the basics. Our values systems are so eroded, we simply don't have one anymore. We also need to get our weak institutions back in place. From Education, to commerce, to SMEs, to health, to Manufacturing to regulation etc. 5. For me, many more Fashola's will come. At least I'm sure of Lagos and SW states, simply because people are not sitting idle but are getting down, planning the future with a focus. 6. Fashola can well be the president of Nigeria, so is any credible leader that has demonstrated good stewardship, innovative and characteristics worthy of leadership and not some political maturity (whatever that means)Oga aribisala is talking about Gbawe: It is talk like this, even as you speak the truth, that will make the uncouth savages here to begin attacking your person as a "paid goon","ACN hypocrite", etc. Many folks revel in ignorance and enjoy insulting others vacuously. The best template to secure development is to a establish a system where it is the best and most talented leaders, with proven history of solutions provision, who are presented for important Political office. That system will outlast and always effectively replace the Fasholas easily to ensure performance and development is not about individuals but about making recruitment conditions such that only talented folks and proven performers need apply. This is now happening in the SW. |
I think you guys are getting something wrong. I guess the crux of this thread is not who is better between Akpabio and Fashola. That roforofo fight is not suitable for this discussion. What is in place is an x-ray of Fashola's qualities, translatable to presidency. cjrane: Fashola ki ni? Godswill Akpabia is the undisputed best Governor in Nigeria. |
It's either you take the challenge or leave it. When you say Fashola is not politically matured, I don't think it's a simple sentence. The simple sentence is "What do you mean by Fashola not being Politically Matured?" Also If you're positing Fashola's supposed political immaturity, is it not the recent past leaders that will serve as good basis of comparison?? aribisala0: I am not sure I anywhere advocated Yaradua or any other person and so see no reason why they sould come in, that they were not good does not make the case any more for Fashola than it does for Mr Ibu. The subject here is Fashola and I expressed MY opinion in simple English. I am not GOD and so I could be wrong but that is how I see it. If you have an opinion on Fashola by all means express it. |
You know the nearest contact these people have is NairaLand, so the fixation is not far fetched. Eko Ile: I don't get the Tinubu fixation, it's plain stupid. |
1. Oga, you'll probably do well to please unwrap what you mean by the underlined to me for starters. 2. But if I'm not getting you wrong, what Political maturity has the late Yar'Adua and Jonathan demonstrated that is different, worth it and has effected the change in Nigeria. 3. Fashola does not understand democracy or carrying people along haba... please explain!4. The Federal government being too big, too powerful and too inefficient needs a decisive leader that will effect the change. I dare say it's not written on breast plate or forehead, much more those we've had in the recent past has only shown with their political maturity, they are at best spectators when quality leadership is concerned. Is it Jonathan they matured leader Tufiapa! Yar'Adua was too fazed and unclear about how to steer the country from day 1.aribisala0: Fashola is politically immature in the Nigerian context though he may do well with support. He does not really understand democracy and carrying people along |
