@naptu2, I remember vividly. I think it was shown on NTA Newsline or something back then. They used a J5 Bus body.......thanks man I still affirm that the skill and enablement to domesticate many of these things are plausible in Nigeria. One can only imagine if we'd followed up that effort since the late 80s early 90s. SAP was very beneficial in opening the market space; unfortunately it's only the banking industry that seemed to reap the full benefit naptu2: Mapet you just reminded me of something. |

@ Olumide, I think we should brace ourselves for some realities when the train services starts. 1. People will be parked like sardines. Even in UK, US, China, Malaysia etc, people are parked like sardines during rush hour. Besides, driving to Islands will become pretty much more expensive. Car park services will increase fees to about 1k(there are places in Newyork, where parking fees are pushing $100), hence lots of people will only drive on weekends. 2. Maintenance is something we'll have to deal with along the line. I think Lagos State goverment had been prepared for this long before the populace came to the awareness of this project. In Jan 2008, I was in London and Lagos State as far as then came to headhunt Nigerians working in UNDERGROUND/London Train. The advert was in the media. The same I learnt was done in US and Canada.I was wondering back then why headhunt so early? I believe those guys have been put under a program of knowledge transfer in all areas of running the trains and maintenance inclusive 3. Still on Maintenance, I believe we have the infrastructure we can leverage on. Railway compound in Ebute Metta is a huge moribund infrastructure that will be resurcitated. Both the FG and the LSG can collaborate to run the place. The workshop serving as maintenance ground and we can begin to manufacture some parts ourselves. I envision a future where we build Nigerian-made trains. If Nigerdock can translate knowledge acquired into building boats and lately an Oil-Rig then it is possible. 4. Trust me, people will patronize the train from day 1. The middle-class and low-class are a huge number. Can you imagine the number of people we classify as low-class, trooping to places like Orile, Badia, Apongbon, Idumota, Isale EKo, CMS and environs everyday? not to talk of white collar folks that work in Marina axis, or those that will only need to take connecting BRT into VI? It's a pity that the train services will take a while to get to my area in Gbagada. I don't even drive to work, and I don't give a damn when some people tell me why don't I get a driver. I gladly tell them I don't need one when I enjoy the services of my company's staff bus. 5. You are so on point that this train services will change a lot of things in Lagos. It definitely will multiply commerce and ease of movement in Lagos. More people will be in business and gainfully employed. Maintenance of roads will be easier. traffic will be less in some places. 6. For me, I think subsequent government will have an incentive to extend the train services to inner places in Lagos - Idimu, Alimosho, Alagbado, Ikorodu, Epe etc. till Lagos is fully connected. I'm happy this is starting in my time and I pray it's really gone far before I get too old 0lumide: One thing that bugs me when Nigeria is building something big is maintenance. |
We don't know how short some distances are in Lagos till we travel on a "free" day. The distance between my house in Gbagada and Church in TBS is 20mins on an early sunday morning. Same takes almost 1.5hrs on some crazy traffic days. Now Imagine what edge we'll have with train services. I'm always fancinated when I traverse in both London and Newyork with train. You could time your movements and will be dead right olafolarin: thelastPope: |
OMG even kpakpa+Cocaine couldn't have done this havoc this bad!!! take your meds man! |
O ti mo esi oro ju.... Emusan: Pls relocate to where you can see it live and direct i.e Ago-Palace way, Oshodi, VI e.t.c |
I had once posited on the LG-Coscharis vocational school discussion that the essense of these skill acquisition institution is beyond the immediate-term jobs skills they provide for the jobless, but for the long term institution and larger scales of home-grown heavy-weight infrastructure companies we stand the chance to create in the future. What we see of the Chinese companies today were actually incubated in the 70s; it did not just materialize. Funily enough they even "imported" 2 key American professors to teach them the "practicalities" in operations management in factories, effeciencies in mass production and many stuffs. One of my lecturers in Bskul always alludes the reason for the birth of clone vehicles like "Jinbeigh" brands to misadventure of great companies like Toyota to China. The locals had the basic skill pool, mass human capital and will to replicate virtually anything the top companies in the world could do. China has 1. Launched Satelites into space 2. Built commercial aeroplanes....the latest works from Boeing has body parts of aeroplanes built in China 3. China (and India) have built their fighter jet planes 4. China have refurbised an Ukrain/Russian aircraft career and are currently building theirs from the scratch 5. Chinese have factories that covers virtually every sector.......... For all you know the workers in most of these accompanishment have not gone to any conventional University olas2u: its obvious you were not following our discussion before you dropped your comments, you dont have the monopoly of words. The vocational school you spoke about cannot be compared to vocational schools in Asia where the people that have come to construct railway lines came from.I know the type of vocational school you think we are talking about,it goes beyond that type. |
.....and you think you've asked an intelligent questions
Ok. So what do you do with N30b monthly income from both IGR and Feds allocation if you are admitting that you do capital projects with the loans?
|
Ok Thumbs up Coscharis......... now irritant, bug off and lets have credible discourse....... 1. This is one of the needed model that we must replicate in virtually every state in Nigeria. 2. This institution will be a feeder to some gaps that is glaring in our economy 3. I suggest that these institution should be seconded on contract to manage the maintenance, refurbishement and most likely in the future build a Nigerian brand BRT buses. 4. It's a good thing we went via someone of in the mould of Cosmos Maduka. The same should be extended to Chief Adeojo of Toyota Nigeria. Why? We have the opportunity to take the knowledge to the classic models of the brand they sell. With Maduka, will learn the ruggedness and grand appeal of the Range Rovers, BMWs (Blend of the German Machine); with Toyota we'll learn the economically viable products of the Japanese brand. 5. I hope with small seeds like these, we can look forward to producing a commercially viable Nigeria car. This will be sold to the low-income earners on a financing scheme as pilot and exported to other African Countries 6. In about 25years time we'll have gained some level of prominence and taken our trade outside the shores I need us to try and understand the big picture. It is not about governors starting skill acquisition just to fulfil some statistical political expectation. They will fizzle out with the governor's exit. We should be looking at have sustainable institution. We'll come to an utopia where some of our children will tell us point blank that they'll rather go to these skill acquisition institution and learn to automechanical engineers than go to conventional universities.........
Why thumbing up Gov. Fashola? It is solely owned and managed by Coscharis Group. So, say THUMBS UP COSCHARIS!!
|
@Omexonomy, 1. You're simply a liar. 2. If you truly pass this road from Apapa to Oshodi, then you must know that our of the myriads of pot holes on that road, the ones at (1) shortly before Berger and (2) between Cele and Iyana Isolo are life threatening craters. Anybody not familiar with the road and drives at night will probably be sent to his or her early grave if they run into any of these craters 3. Now tell me, even if you do pass on the road, you mean you're so used to crater ridden roads from whereever you come from that you don't know what a good road should be? Do you value safety or lives at all ![]() some of you are simply unbelievable......... If you hate lies, please don't spread one..... Omexonomy: b4 u start the insult i ply that road from apapa to oshodi can any body please point out which part is fash talking about. Note i am not a PDP member and i hate lies. |
@ fagamite, Chippychappy and Jbuer, this is word for you; oya react.......abi them celotape una mouth ![]() Eko Ile: Like I said before, sounds like some of you clowns juts have to show us how silly and re---tarded you all are. |
....want to marry him? babyosisi: And this is all because of ifa |
@ Oga prost80, you are not painting the picture right. By any standards Fashola's team has done fastically well. Some people here that probably have not smelt Lagos come here and post rubbish; likewise some hopeless foreign-based who are probably delluding themselves that the pitiable condition they are experiencing in the cold abroad is better off.... We are building a true mega and enviable Lagos. What is important is the overall objective and not the nonesense being regurgitate here by some prost80: Some people here are funny. There is an opportunity cost for every thing, Lagos has and had a lot of problems before Fashola and after him, it will still have problems. Fashola cannot solve ALL lagos problem on the meagre revenue Lagos has compared to the population of about 17million people. The main focus should be on infrastructure. The Blue Rail is ongoing(though it slowed down, i live there), the Badagry 10 lane is ongoing, The Ojota-Ikorodu expansion(i was in that area in dec) is ongoing these are major projects requiring huge budgets. There are some other small small roads(the oshodi rd, etc).. I can't mention all. One is not saying Fashola is a saint. But let us put emotion in the bin. The man is trying but when the problems are enormous and the funds are little(N499b...for a population of 17million is a drop by world standard, that is just $3.1b).So if he doesnt allocate to Health , i am glad as he has to be focused. The reason Fashola is noticeable is because he is focused. Something other governors should learn. Focus ! Most governors and GEJ are making one big mistake trying to transform health, sports, agric, transport, this and that on such a tiny budget .in the end the impact is not felt. But take one important sector and focus on really giving it a go, and see the knock on effect. Just before some one says ACN paid me N100m, let me say it so the person doesnt have to bother and waste his post/strength....ACN paid me more than that sef for propaganda fee. Satisfied? |
...Haba!!!! what a waste of school fees ![]() Omexonomy: let us assume that what you say makes a little sense then gej should be payed his due respect. |
provided he has legs....or transport fares seanet01: Since you are based in Lagos, i think you can do justice to humanity by heading to Alausa and help us get where the 70 billion will be expended on. |
...you and your ilks just seems to get regressively brainless as the day goes by. So tell me what he should use for ongoing projects.....cedis from Ghana or he should abandon ongoing projects and start new ones.....Was it lost on you that this was actually a breakdown analysis on Lagos' 2013 budget some of you guys are just simply not sharp at all, your dullness is very annoying. Don't you know that part of the task is to also make the money![]() thelastPope: 70 billion for ongoing roads that we cant see? SMH! Lagos state and Fashola are presiding over the biggest fraud in the country currently! Sad! |
....and you most likely havent either.... otokx: Have you been to London before? keep deceiving yourself |
useless stats....... are you looking at government hospitals alone ? all you funny overseas people with jaundiced views......texazzpete: less than 1000 doctors for a population of nearly 17 million and this fellow of a Governor still allocates a relative pittance to Health while Lagosians constantly suffer sub-par healthcare. |
That Lagos has oil in offshore waters was as stale news since Yinka Folawiyo won OML 113.....this is like almost 10year ago...... |
....and whatever dat means ? please don't delve into the terrain you know nothing of jooor!!!! ![]() Lobolintin: based on psychological observatn and consumptn... Lik countles africa countries nw produce oil at comercial quantiy. |
I was listening to an Ifa worship service on radio one day, can you believe it that they practically mimicked the chrisitan church order of service.........they had their version of the creed, the collect, and other prayers... anonimi: From my scanty memories of the NTA Ibadan old series of Ifa Olokun A soro dayo also anchored by Dr. Elebuibon, there are many similar stories between what is in the Bible (particularly OT) which is almost reproduced verbatim in the Koran. |
I find your submission significantly valid. I believe this should be the focus of leadership. Let's get something clear. Aregbesola's government is simply providing an option with the "Ifa Studies". For those interested, they can go for it. I'm curious many times and in my curiousity I want to know a thing or two, like this Ifa divinity.....I like some of the sayings, peotry and teachings........... but beyond that, thanks but no thanks..........I am a Christian and so are my children afam4eva: If there's one thing i like about Aregbesola, it's the fact that he localizes his government. He tackles what is of interest to his citizens. When other governors are planning on introducing French and Chinese to school, Aregbesola is introducing Ifa to the curricular. Nice one. |
really? based on what scientific or economic evidence ![]() Lobolintin: 10yrz 4rm nw,oil wil lose its value |
.... And this shows you studied Leadership & Management?...judging by the quality your arguement down here, you're knowledge of issues are very elementry and your arguements are too watery ![]() kennytidistar: [mapet]..... helping the poor should me wanton lawlessness, disregard for safety and value of life, drop in quality and values |
@alstacs, 1.I'm really impressed about your idea, as practiced in most advanced countries like the US and UK 2. But I think Osun is far from ripe to play such a model 3. It is important that we build good hospital infrastructures and supporting requirements first before playing this model. The necessary infrastructure (hospitals, equipments, doctors, paramedics, drugs and funding for research etc) is a long work from the ideal. 4. Medical insurance is also complicated. It's tied to a database system for a state, with records of employment or business. This may be where issues may come out and most of the poor with no defined means of livelihood that can be recorded are cut off 5. The government can assist in paying premium, but trust me, once you go the way of medical insurance, a precursor to that is that you've privatized virtually of the hospitals and the government will hands off and not may not pay premium as expected |
Please, Adams Oshiomole is a rookie where the likes of Fashola stands in terms of governance....... Seun: Adams Oshiomhole, a man of the people. he performs but he also cares about the masses, unlike Fashola. |
..... helping the poor should me wanton lawlessness, disregard for safety and value of life, drop in quality and values ?? I wonder how some of you reason.Seun: Shouldnt helping the poor (as opposed to oppressing and tormenting them) be a important component of any plan to make Nigeria better? How can we claim that Nigeria is getting better if things are actually getting worse for the poor among us? Don't the masses matter anymore? |
... O boy, I tot I was the only one o. I lived in Ikorodu for 8 terrible years, traffic wise. Got to a time I took it for granted (Ikorodu -Ketu/Ojota) 4 times I had Okada Accident and all 4 I was miraculously saved, till I stopped and started planning my trips (leave home 5.30am on any day and return past 11 @ night.
