You know what, Do you have legs?? or better still ask an okada to take you to his house, then ask him..... toba: can someone tell me what bola ahmed Tinubu did in 8 years if being the governor of Lagos state? this is fashola's 5th year in office and he has done so much already with more to come |
Can I add a spin to this. I travel to Edo State, specifically Benin and some other parts, quite often becos we have our base office in Benin and Warri. Let's not get too sentimental on Oshiomole. He doing "astronomical" compared to Igbinedion, but I think he takes a little back stage compared to Ogun and Ekiti State. (Don't worry, I won't mention Osun becos I am from Osun and will to stay neutral). Now Delta State to me is damn badly worsted, from Warri to Abraka to Agbor, I pity some states in this country. Kogi which I drove to 2 months ago is another crying shame. These are just few indicators of my impression of both sides of the divide in performance. What I see on NL is a whole lot of misinformation. Funily enough a lot of people that comment about governors or states probably have never been to that state. For me the jury is out there on Rochas; but we so mouth what we know little of on NL, and some pick it up and rigurgitate with reckless abandon. Point is simply this. Each State and people have the collective responsibility to build their state into viable and cosmopolitan/commercial/habital states. No amount of "my governor is better than your" or "your governor is not doing anything" will change that |
Afolabs101: They are going to toll the heck out of this road! They've already built the toll booths at the Lekki side of the bridge.Bros, Think it is more of reasoning capacity being so low on NL and the virus having gone viral. 1. You'll need to support your assession on the capital cost and interest on funds borrowed being taken care of by state's recurrent account. What is the Capital cost+Interest ? Is it sensible to belabour the state expenditure on one bridge as if that is what Lagos expenses is all about. Have you thought of it that Lagos State should be considering venturing into underground rail projects in the nearest few years.....2. I thought simple reasoning tells you that a typical project like roads starts depreciating as soon as the first vehicle passes thru. Have you thought of managing and maintaining the road? 3. Do you imagine that the road if well managed will be an additional source of revenue? Thank God it is not concessioned. Do you know revenue can be made from tolls, adverts, telecoms fibre cables etc? 4. These things are pretty standard in developed countries yet we make unnecessary cries here. You have places in London where driving your car thru town (old road probably built post WW2) you pay, public car parks where you pay as much as $100, yet people have found their convenient level and things move orderly. |
I wonder why people tell bare-faced lies on NL. My Boss just returned from PH and was came with tales of flood apart from deart of noticabel impact..... tunde300us: @ meksroland : Am sure u dont live in PH,two days ago the whole of the 2nd artillery on the ABA road was flooded and no car could even pass through, and yet u say PH is not always flooded.I laugh in IKWERE |
...then find another route or trek thru it, since toll will not be charged for that. It is not compulsory you take the bridge.....mscheeeww amaba: I hope it is not another money making road. I don tire 2 pay 240 on toll everyday despite the fact i pay tax. by december i will be paying 480 everyday on toll gate |
You know when you log on to NL hoping to see common sense, and day-in-day-out you get disappointed.... kokoye: Thank you ojare. |
Oga Dudu_Negro I think you're speaking too much queens English. Let's tell it in simple terms 1. Anybody coming to Lagos without any means of livelihood, proposed decent business ventures or job offer is coming to add to the burden on Lagos State. They also pose security risk to lives and properties. A large chunk of Agberos are from other states. There is a notorious "Ajagun Gbale" in Ikorodu, leading cult gangs to forcefully takeover properties. That guy's root was traced to Kwara State. There is an Ibo guy that was once a leader of a faction of Area boys in Oshodi. The Hausa Community in Mile12 have always been menace and anytime there is dispute, they do unimaginable thing. Was it not once it was reported that the Hausa youth during a fight with OPC that they were loosing, went into a private primary school and killed schoo kids.......and many more untold stories. Which governor in his right senses will not do something about it. 2. Has Fashola gone to any bank, any university/Politechnic/Secondary School, any artisan workshop, Alaba, Ladipo etc to evict Igbos? If those alledgedly picked are street hawkers, urchins etc then it is for the common good. 3. For those saying Lagos is no man's land, that has been the height of self deceit. I am a Yoruba and Lagos is not my Land. There were areas in Lagos that had predated even the coming of the whitemen. These people had ansestors who had forms of government/Kings. These people have offsprings that are still owning royal stools, lands and heritages. That you came to do business and live in Lagos, definetly does not make Lagos a no man's land. Are places like Newyork, Milan, Dubai, Madrid, Mumbai, Tokyo etc no man's land ![]() 4. It is grossly unfair, when some people pay taxes that are used to develop the state and some in question not only do not pay taxes but become a heavy burden on those that do. A lot of Igbo men in Lagos have decent means of livelihood and pay taxes. Why will someone leave the village all in the name of coming to Lagos to hustle, no accomodation, no means of livelihood? Just like people travel abroad and roam the streets. No wonder we keep hearing tales of Nigerians in diaspora in one cases of fraud or the other; our brothers are noted for drugs in South Africa, fraud in UK, Trafficking in Italy...... 5. For those who are alleging Fashola fearing of Igbos, this is the height of stupidity. Was it not recently, an easter governor packed Fulani herdsmens in a concentration camp in preparation for onward deportation? Was it of fear as well? 6. Let's get something clear. If some people consistute threat and nuisance, they deserve to be evicted. I have my "omo Ilu oke" (where I come from) brothers constituting nuisance as area boys as well. Those are the ones deported to Ogun and Oyo State and I dare say rightly so.....
I disagree. The law of Lagos State protects the law abiding people in that state against threats and nuisance in the community. The task force agents are empowered to raid and remove destitutes that run away or avoid govt rehabilitation programs. I started a post few months ago....i think around June/July....in an attempt to demistify the constiution. Many Nigerians have no ground understanding of the constitution. People that despise Nigeria and cant reapect what it stands for are qjick to run and grab the constitution for shelter when their civic relationship is questioned. The constitution is the new new manuscript. In ancient times, scrolls and manuscripts were written in crypted language to befuddle the ordinary citizen so that the more he struggles against authority the deeper he gives them cause and reaaon to entrench control over his life. It is absolutely imperative that every citizen understand the constiution....not just read it but be able to interpree its intent and spirit. On this deportation issue....i cannot speak for other states deportig non indigenes for other reasons.....but in the case of Lagos state, the govt , by invoking its statute and promise to protect lives and property of innocent and law abiding citizens, has acted in concordance with the provisions of the constitution of Nigeria. Cosmic liberty is in accord with land covenants and a function of nativity to land. I dont know qhere you got this idea that freedom of rights in a constitution can be equated to cosmic benevolence......the two are separate and irreconciliable. Cosmic benevolence is in synch wih customary laws, not democratic constitutions.
|
Let's be realistic on some things. 1. I'm not too sure the statement by Opeifa that LASTMAN officials should not driver an offender's car, but rather let the offender drive it himself will work. Even from the days of the local government officials, you're better off staying rooted in the spot and either arguing your case, counter intimidating the official (Calling DPOs or Military Personnels that are your friends) or begging your arrrseee out. Nobody will gullibly drive his vehicle to Lastman's office. 2. Have you guys seen Lagos Danfo drivers go to the extreme, when they offended and about to be arrested. I have seen 3 different cases with similar scenario. The driver strips himself stark naked, lies down infront of the tires or underneath the car and claim that he'll rather die than allow his vehicle to be towed. 3. I am not too sold on the bit part of the bus passengers. I've been in bus many times where passengers themselves incite drivers to break the laws. They'll even resort to abusing the driver, if he does not "follow one-way like his other Danfo drivers" who are currently doing same, yet there's no one to arrest them. If there is an arrest without video evidence, then it's deemed no legal arrest.... 4. Passenger are more concerned about the time they are loosing on the road, hence will either genuinely appeal to LASTMA to forgive an offending driver, or support and incite the driver against LASTMA My tots are these. Just like a poster said earlier on, there should be a standard way an offender should be arrested. I think the Americans call it "Myrandising". LASTMA should have a standard protocol of arrest on the road. I suggest a situation where each arrest situation be video recorded. Camera's should be placed on the LASTMA vehicles and record arrest scenes. Anybody who feels aggrieved can file an appeal and an open panel can review the case. It can be made a law that if LASTMA arrest an offender in an illegal way, then the case is summarily dismissed and the offender released unconditionally |
I beg to disagree with this (although it is outside the crux of the issue at hand). I'm not aware of any scripture that stipulated that tithes MUST be paid to where an individual worships. Be that as it may, these churches will have to refund the moneies, once it is directed by the courts, or refund it to Atuche, until he clears his name..... stagger: Tithes are paid to where an individual worships. SO if Atuche is not a worshipper in those churches, then what he gave cannot be called tithes, but rather donations. |
Read the underlined again......"to thin own self be true, and follow the night as the day.....thou cannot be false" 1. That is what the law says, you violate....you're fine/jailed and your vehicle confisiacated 2. Most of the roads in Lagos has basic road signs, but short of arguing that, you mean you need a road sign to tell you not to drive on the wrong side , facing oncoming traffic in TMB ?3. "They change the direction on the one way as it pleases them....." haha!!!! come of it, if you're going to lie, a stupid one is even worse 4. Breaking the law and perpertual lawlessness is criminal. I wonder when the law started reconginsing cost of the purchase of your car as justification to break laws You guys are somehow pathetic. You blame the government that nothing seemingly works in our environment. You compare us to other countries where things obviously work like UK, US, SA etc, yet genuine efforts to start putting some of these structures in place, you cry. How many of you will drive against the traffic in UK or US billante: My thoughts exactly....what kind of revenue generation pass this one?![b] Because i violate their so called traffic laws that sometimes is not my fault, cause most of their roads don't have one way sign! And they change the direction of the one way as it pleases them...they will claim ownership of a car I bought 4-5 million and I will loose my car. That stealing in d highest order! What happened to d fine. |
Shocking. UPS that's my area, way to my house.... it could have been anybody. May God protect us........ |

Do you have legs? If you do use it to find your way to Bourdilon......may be Tinubu will help you out gregg2: How much is Tinubu's percentage in this? |
Lola = Baby Mama Wife = Beariful Oyinye! |
I sometime wonder at how some of you reason. That Dino Melaye lives in a luxury Apartment and has good cars is a clear cut difference from the contentious issue of the pending introduction of the 5k note. Don't some of you pause to reason and check the OPs intent before jumping into the fray? 1. What is the OPs contention with Dino Melaye's quality of living? 2. Is there a Nexus between his supposed wealth and a stated fraud case? 3. Showing picture of his house and cars are downright low. Besides there is no big deal in that house, that we've not seen elsewhere. An average middle income earner can replicate something close to that in outskirts of Ibafo, Sango, Ikorodu etc. If you've built a house or involved with one, you'll know many of the assessories used in finishing can be bought in the Suru Alaba Open Market, mostly imported from China, Turkey, Malaysia etc 4. Have you confirmed if the house was rented or official quarters when he was a senator 5. So that he is rich, disqualifies him from fighting on behalf of the masses......you guys are simply pathetic I would have thought we should commend Dino Melaye for playing his part in mobilizing and sensitizing the populace on some of the negative effects of the new 5k note. At least he has risen up and done something, not just sitting behind his PC like you lots, and typing senseless rubbish. |
....excuse me, in context of this discussion, your point is ?dasparrow: Yet it is the same white people whom you accuse of having no traditions that are ruling the world, inventing technology, whose countries are advanced and whom Nigerians in Nigeria worship and bow down to like a bunch of brainless goats. In addition, it is the same white people with no tradition whose embassies many Nigerians desperately line up at day and night to get visa, permanent residency and citizenship for. The same white people with no tradition who pulled a fast one on we Africans and all our so-called tradition and took our people as slaves to the new world while robbing us blind through decades of colonization. |
There is no big deal in this. Politicians pull some stunts to appeal to the populace. Ayo Fayose stopped on many occassions to buy roasted plantain ("Boli") and Groundnuts while he was governor of Ekiti State |
You're right. For me the reporter just skwed the report to cause trouble. I think they all contributed to making this happen and they all deserved the kudos. bashr8: who cares which of the governors that started it , the most important thing is that its complete after all its a private investment, congratulations to anambra once again , the punch should spend more time educating nigerians on how to invest more in their country rather than trying to stare up confusion, stupid journalism , nigeria have the laziest journalist in the world and the worst news papers. |
duni04: We shouldn't always be in a haste to compare what goes on in Nigeria with what goes on in other countries, and also the fact that we have crowded buses and trains in more developed countries doesn't mean its 'normal' or we should accept it as a norm. I'm sure these developed countries we're always very quick to compare ourselves with are already mapping out ways to make rush hour traffic more convenient and efficient while we're here accepting that its a norm. In a few years time, after these countries would have thought out and implemented ways of improving their transport system, we'll be here alone with our 'norm'. Lets also seek out ways of improving our transport system and making it convenient and inexpensive to commuters.@Duni04, The OP's submission is baseless. Since I've been traveling to UK, I take the underground and except weekends, rush hour is not any different from Lagos. With all the control of movement, major cosmopolitan cities witness crowd and governments just keep working out solutions till they can manage the situation. If you go to Abuja during rush hour, it's like you are 1/100th of typical Lagos traffic, meanwhile you can leave any location in my hometown and get to the office in 20minutes. I laugh when I see my folks having breakfast before leaving. London rush hour is crazy, meanwhile cities like Birmigham looks sane.... I was at Barcelona, and the underground was also comparable to london.... and Lagos. So this is the reality and in this case not a comparison for excuse sake. Lagos actually put a long term plan (and I dare say robust)for transportation from the days of Tinubu and this is what is being built. Even when we do have trains in the next 25years, the population would have grown so bid that it would still be a challenge. Cosmopolitan city are always like this.... |
mekuslogan: Lagos' problem is intractable. It is in the interest of Yorubas to support a program of even development of the country so that the number of those moving to Lagos (Nigeria's former capital developed with our collective wealth) from all parts of Nigeria will reduce. The more they keep playing tribalism with the developement of other places, the more Lagos is swamped, to the disadvantage of the Yorubas. Now Igbos even rent houses to Yorubas in some parts of Lagos (Festac, Satellite town, etc)This is arrant rubbish and illogical nonsense. In as much as I don't want to get involved in any ethnic laced comments, I dare ask you; 1. What development is going on in Nigeria that Lagos is behind? 2. So Lagos should slow down her development is your reckoning to reduce the population? Haba! did this come from the keyboard unaided? 3. So in developmental strides, Lagos is playing tribalism, how? 4. It is a welcome development if Igbos have properties for rent to Yorubas in Lagos. Anybody that works hard deserves his reward. |
I can only add "Kpom".......or "Ngbam".....or "Ooto lo wi" to this well elucidated submission here karpentar: It’s easy for her to quit church because she gets unwanted notices there, meanwhile she engages in multiple social functions/parties and doesn’t mind being noticed in those places. This is the yelling of an unbeliever. Tell her to try another excuse. This one is nonsensical and unintelligent. |
@OP, Please restrict the insult of sensibility to yourself, Abeg. This picture hardly tell the full story. I thought common sense tells you LASTMA is an institution the government has put in place. A misbehaviour of its officers can be reported to appropriate channels and appropriate punishement will be given to the officer. The same Lagos State government sent a LASTMA official to jail for collecting 35,000 from an offender and not recipting and remiting to government. The aggrived guy just reported the LASTMA official on the pages of newspapers and Fashola instructed the AG of lagos (then Fola AuthurWorrey) to procecute the guy in court. One can't but notice few exceptional cases that needs to be addressed but to resort to showing just one picture and brand that as the total reflection is down-right low. We can't even make all the deductions from the picture. The could have refused to stop when told to. I know for a fact that the same Fashola that you needlessly seek to deride has said with the new electronic tracking system in Lagos, all Law enforcement agencies need to do is to get the plate number and all data about the driver will be shown. I also put some blame should also go to LASTMA authority for not deploying equipment to arrest the driver like equipments that will incapacitate the tires. Meanwhile someone should please honorably show the good things LASTMA and FRSC are doing controlling traffic on 3MB FSU: LASTMA AGENT AT WORK |
I was at the US embassy in Lagos on Tuesday. I guess they are more lenient and humane now. I observed the ECs were more friendly but also objective. I saw them give more than 60% of pps b4 my turn. The small drama was a little lady that sat 2seats away. We were close to the cubicule, hence we could hear the conversations between the ECs and the applicants. Any time the ECs says "I'm sorry I'll have to refuse you VISA at this time...." this lady sitting close to us will exclaim "Ah!", more like her heart wants to jump out of her mouth. The elderly man sitting close to me had to tell her "young lady, be calm, your case is different from them" ![]() |
paris10: I believe you need to do justice to your Bible understanding. You're a bit short! Mystery of the kingdom is known and revealed to all Christians. The dude you replied to if not mistaken is also a christian and not one of them without.@ Kunletiwoo, I believe you are like someone who just see or hears part of the bible and misconstrue things entirely. First off you used the scriture Heb 12: 22-24 in an entirely wrong way, misinterpreting it and using it to justify what is wrong. I think you should be like the bereans that further study what they are thought to establish the truth and just like @paris10 has said here, you need to work on your understanding of the scripture as your maturity here is seriously in doubt. Please do not confuse yourself. The spirit of just men with God are the men of old who have departed, who God found worthy to be with him, their spirit departed from their mortal bodies to be with the Lord. We commune with the Holy Spirit because that is the permanence of God with us on earth after Jesus left and while we are still waiting for ressurrection. Jesus had promised the coming of the Holy Spirit and that he'll be everything to us, our healer, our teacher our companion, our guide and much more the need ot have the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit. The simple logic is that when we depart the earth either before or when the trumpet shall sound, we shall join the saints triumphant, just as the spirits of just men made perfect. So your justification of the sticker when someone calls himself Son of Bishop David Oyedepo being right as a result of the scripture ...."you have come to the spirit of just men made perfect" is to say the least ludicrous Talking about the mysteries....I think you need to separate your confusion from the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. |
kunletiwoo: Don't get it wrong bro! Cos the bible say'sI actually took an additional effort, albeit a near needless one, but for the sake of those you will mislead and corrupt with you wrong interpretation of the scripture above, to stretch then falsehood you peddled here trying to justify the unjustifiable. Do you know that 1. Hebrews 12:22-24 is actually part to the long explanation of the author to the christian church, comparing 2 dispensations. 2. Reading the whole of Hebrews 12; That he was making a comparison with an analogy of Mount Sinai (a representation of the difficulty of entering God's presence as a result of the harness of the people's heart, livestyle, unholiness etc, that even Moses and Aron alone who could enter even trembled with fear. Comparing with the church (at the time of Hebrews and today, which is the dispensation after Christ's death on the cross, where it is milder, more approachable and open to all 3. That Hebrews 12:22-24 is a discription of new dispensation as what mount zion represents. How the new heaven is organized, from God, his place, his angels, their purpose, the spirits of just men, they fellowship and finally Jesus to wrap it all up 4.....The spirit of Just Men made perfect which you veered off track on is actually talking about people of God who have joined the saints triumphant (i.e. THEY ARE DEAD AND IN HEAVEN WITH THE HOST OF HEAVEN) Now tell me how this scripture justifies someone calling himself SON of Bishop Oyedepo The scripture clearly showed a pattern how God the most high takes the supereme, all angels and just men made perfect worships and fellowship with him and how Jesus is the mediator and reconcillator of us all.If you ask me this scripture is the classic justification why someone should call himself SON of God rather than SON of Bishop David Oyedepo. |
@Kunletiwo, when I saw you reply here, then I thought to myself, are you for real.... where you not the same person that just quoted (I dare say, misapplied Hebrews with "Don't get it wrong bro! Cos the bible say's "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect Hebrews 12:22-24 Note: It's not all about the personality of the man of God, but his spirit which is beneath God's own Spirit is what people make reference to. " I wonder how intellectually spiritually lazy you can get to justify something not justifiable. I sincerely hope and pray this sticker is photoshoped or did not officially emmanate from the church. This is sickening. kunletiwoo: Abi ooo my broda. |
If the writers of this rubbish have decided to be irresponsible and infantile, let's not gratify thier stupid reportage. 1. If the story is true, Access bank is well within their right to DEMAND that their workers improve their performances, increase their targets and stuffs like that. It is what every sane business do. 2. What medical report linked the stress she went through at work with the cause of her death other than what the alledge whistle blower claimed she told her collegues before she died. 3. This looks like a low budget Nollywood script. 4. On issues of pressure on women, please come off it. There is no pressure much more than what an individual commits to. 5. My candid opinion is, if the job is too stressful for ones health, please quit that job. When you get paid fat salaries, it is not national cake. It is for you to deliver. I know of husband that told their wives to resign and set them up with supermarket or travelling to Dubai, US, Turkey, Italy and so on to buy and sell. |
I stopped wearing mine since I lost the third one.....well I forgot it in the restroom in office and went back and it was toast..... Not too comfortable with it anyways. As for playing around....not my thing. Even though my wife feels it denies me of some level of respect and makes me look "available", and believe me it's true. I was lost one day when one of the senior managers I worked with on a project asked me when am I getting married (I actually look younger than my age). I simply replied my first daughter is almost 8...and the other day in church, during bible study, I was answering a question with an analogy and I said .....I remember when I was young, and virtually the whole church chorused .."of course you're still young" ![]() |
I quite agree with you.. stillwater: Never date someone with that at the back of your mind. Do you. The men these days are a far-cry from our fathers. Work at your own pace. If you don't like being rushed, please don't rush yourself. If you are the type that is quite decisive when propositioned, by all means say yes. You are an adult, make decisions for yourself and not what society dictates or what your friends would say. |
The whole length of Ikorodu road is a federal road. Even up to Sagamu road that leads to mosinmi. inspbado: Believe me the road is really a federal road, just like the badagry express road. It's really annoying that the FG takes a huge chunk of the resources of the federation and yet does absolutely nothing with it!!! |
This is some welcome news o! I was born and bred in Ketu. I lived in Ikorodu for 8yrs and trust me traffic turned me into something else. I use to spend 3.5-to-4hrs daily on the average when going back home every evening from VI. I got so bad that I joined the bandwagon of taking the Okada option (the only thing I shied away from was sitting 2 passengers). Any festive period, we stayed at home throughout as traffic prevented us from leaving Ikorodu..... The road is long overdue for fixing.. |
